[Bug 1640297] Re: 16.04.1 LTS hang during boot 4.4.0-45-generic with /etc/crypttab. Boots fine in 4.4.0-42-generic and older
I am getting this with 4.4.0-59-generic, I'm booted off a thumb drive using 4.4 and this systems update manager is prompting to upgrade the kernel to 4.4.0-59. Which I'm obviously NOT doing. However my point is why is this still in circulation -- Shouldn't it be pulled off the list of packages? I am not sure how other people managed to get command output, my system hangs just after it says Loading Virtual Drive or RAM-disk. And "Console not available" which sucks, since it is just dead. Also I am not sure about numbering scheme here. Is v4.10-rc5, 0.6 increments away from 4.4.0-59? [Bug 1645232] Re: e2fsprogs - could not preserve ACL permissions : The getxattr() returns with (EINVAL)
I've committed a complete fix to the master branch of the e2fsprogs git tree. One of the reasons why I don't want to commit a partial fix is because the potential for corruption of production file systems by programs such as fuse2fs was extremely high. Users of mke2fs -d are generally embedded developers. Users of fuse2fs are more likely to be civilians. We've had this bug for a long time, and no one has complained. Taking some time to have a fix that doesn't corrupt file systems is far more important to me as the maintainer. For any distribution, but especially for Ubuntu, civilian users >>> embedded developers. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1645232 Title: e2fsprogs - could not preserve ACL permissions : The getxattr() returns with (EINVAL) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/e2fsprogs/+bug/1645232/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1660098] Re: OOM with lots of free swap
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: On a vps with 512MB RAM and a 2 GB swapfile, I am experiencing 100% reproducible OOM when running duplicity. duplicity uses a fair amount of memory, about 300 MB at the time of OOM, but there should be plenty of swap to accommodate it. I have attached a syslog excerpt. Note "Free swap = 2004684kB". If I am reading the log message correctly, "order=2" at the top means this was an attempt to allocate 4 pages, i.e. 16KB. It certainly seems that it should be possible to satisfy this by swapping. I know fragmentation is a possible issue but it seems implausible that we couldn't find 4 pages together. This doesn't seem to happen when running other memory-hogging processes. I wrote a small program that malloc's 1 GB and writes to all of it. It runs fine, even as root. It is slow because of swapping but the oom- killer does not get invoked. So I am not sure what is special about duplicity. It's an ordinary user-space backup utility written in Python; it reads files, encrypts data, and sends it out over ssh. The only thing I can think of is that it runs gpg to do the encryption, and I believe gpg will mlock() some memory to keep keys secure, but that should be a really small amount. Happy to supply more information or test things. [Bug 1658350] Re: Chromium Shows Flashing Black Squares in GPU Rendering
5 days uptime Now I had this other recurring trouble where GNOME Shell has a garbage collection-like freeze for a minute or so then proceeds at high cpu load: nautilus-desktop and gnome-shell eating 100% each. [Bug 1606974] Re: Quicklist menu action doesn't respect global delay (Zesty)
@Jeremy Is this really a upstream bug. This is for Unity-Quicklist which is patched by Ubuntu. See here: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-branches/ubuntu/vivid /gnome-screenshot/vivid- proposed/view/head:/debian/patches/update_unity_list.patch Same patch is being used for zesty as well. I created a separate patch to overwrite that. (Or I can just modify "update_unity_list.patch" and provide that as a new patch). [Bug 1660098] [NEW] OOM with lots of free swap
Public bug reported: On a vps with 512MB RAM and a 2 GB swapfile, I am experiencing 100% reproducible OOM when running duplicity. duplicity uses a fair amount of memory, about 300 MB at the time of OOM, but there should be plenty of swap to accommodate it. [Bug 1635988] Re: Update nautilus to 3.22
** Description changed: Notable new features and changes: - The view menu has been consolidated into a single "hamburger" menu with a separate toggle in the toolbar to switch between icon and list view. - Batch renaming is integrated. Just select multiple files then Rename. - File compression and decompression is integrated. This adds a dependency on gnome-autoar (approved MIR bug 1635991 ) - Nautilus standardized its coding style. This means that every Ubuntu patch had to be rebased. https://csorianognome.wordpress.com/2016/08/31/nautilus-3-22-news-changes/ https://git.gnome.org/browse/nautilus/tree/NEWS - nautilus 3.22 is in the GNOME3 Staging PPA (currently for yakkety only) + nautilus 3.22 is in the GNOME3 Staging PPA To Do = - The interactive-search feature drops the first character typed. To select the Downloads folder, I have to type 'ddow' instead of just 'dow'. The first 'd' opens the interactive-search edit field. + + - Investigate the crash Rico reported related to the + interactive_search.patch probably not being rebased correctly - 0001-Respect-gtk-dialogs-use-header-for-all-dialogs.patch needs to be updated. Currently, GNOME header bars are still used in these cases: + Batch Rename dialog + New Folder dialog - The "New Document" feature patch needs to be rewritten but this also affects Nautilus 3.20 in Ubuntu 16.10 "yakkety" (bug 1632027 ) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1635988 Title: Update nautilus to 3.22 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-gnome/+bug/1635988/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1659988] Re: Firefox apparmor profile: /usr/bin/python3: error while loading shared libraries: cannot apply additional memory protection after relocation: Permission denied
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1659922 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1659922 @chrisccoulson Thanks. Please note that my patch is supposed to fix issues - 1659922 apparmor blocking /dev/shm/org.chromium.[...] - 1659988 apparmor blocking python 3.5 - 1495248 apparmor blocking blocks /dev/shm - 1553712 apparmor blocking org.gtk.vfs.MountTracker - 1628956 apparmor blocking /proc/[...]/net/arp - 1643200 firefox showing black/white tabs (side effect of the fixes above) I'm wondering why this has not been fixed earlier for a package like firefox. Bugs were reported a long time ago whereas each of the fixes was easy, and sometimes even suggested by the reporters. Not only that: Every time a new major release of FF is released it seems to be necessary to also test and adapt the apparmor profile. [Bug 1625780] Re: Secondary monitor menus not opening on mouseover
I think I figured out why the mouse over is not working on the second monitor. Unity creates a PanelView for each monitor, but all PanelViews register a mouse tracker under the same name, so only the first one works. This happens, because the PanelView uses the monitor number to generate the panel name, which is not yet properly initialized in the Constructor. But even if it was know at this state, the monitor number can change later, if the monitor setup is modified. Using the monitor number might not be the best idea. I exchanged the monitor number with a unique number and it looks like it is working now. The patch is attached and you can find it also here: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~lavalanche/unity/MultiMonitorTrackerFix/revision/4218 I'm not sure if this is the proper solution, but it might be first step in fixing this issue. It looks like the whole mouse tracker system has still some issues left. For example: the unregister is never called, even if a PanelView is destroyed (as far as I can tell). ** Patch added: "MultiMonitorTrackerFix .diff" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/1625780/+attachment/4810214/+files/MultiMonitorTrackerFix%20.diff -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1625780 Title: Secondary monitor menus not opening on mouseover To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/1625780/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1656399] Re: Unable to unlock session after suspend using lightdm-gtk-greeter.
It happens to me, too. == Something (big) cropped up. When I returned to my NetBook, the screen had locked. Typed my password in. System then (visually) unlocked itself, paused briefly and then locked me back out again. You can test this more quickly by using the keyboard shortcut of CTRL+ALT+l Naturally I thought I'd got the password wrong. Tried typing in the password in upper case and it didn't do the above - it gave a red error message, pretty much expected. The only way I could get into a locked system again was to chose a "Shutdown" menu option. Played around with it for a bit. Managed to unlock the NetBook successfully once - then it resumed its unhelpful behaviour. And here are my system's details. = On 28 January 2017 at 02:55, Simon Quigley wrote: Lubuntu Zesty Zapus Alpha 2 (soon to be 17.04) has been released! OK. Decided not to argue so named the system "hawking2". Install completed successfully and asked for the (installation) storage medium at a suitable time. Rebooted system, logged in.
