[Bug 1662086] [NEW] Update webkit2gtk to 2.15.4 in zesty
Public bug reported: Since new webkit2gtk releases are security updates, we really need to keep webkit2gtk up to date. Therefore, we should target 2.16 for zesty to get some early testing before pushing 2.16 to xenial and yakkety. (2.15.* are unstable releases leading to 2.16.0 expected alongside GNOME 3.24 approximately March 22, 2017) This is basically what we did with 2.14 for yakkety and it worked well. I'm setting the block-proposed tag as I want to test evolution and the ubiquity slideshow before letting this migrate out of zesty-proposed. ** Affects: webkit2gtk (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Fix Committed ** Tags: block-proposed upgrade-software-version -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1662086 Title: Update webkit2gtk to 2.15.4 in zesty To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/webkit2gtk/+bug/1662086/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1615408] Re: Theming issues with yakkety gnome-calculator in Unity
** Description changed: There are some UI problems with yakkety's gnome-calculator. I'm attaching a screenshot taken with yesterday's daily live Ubuntu image. 1. The title bar says 'gnome-calculator' but it should say Calculator - 2. The Mode menu has an ugly light-colored border around it instead of being integrated into either the title bar (like gnome-calculator 3.18.3 in Ubuntu 16.04 LTS) or in to Unity's menu bar. This happens when gnome-calculator is run from a terminal instead of from the Unit dash. + 2. The Mode menu has an ugly light-colored border around it instead of being integrated into either the title bar (like gnome-calculator 3.18.3 in Ubuntu 16.04 LTS) or in to Unity's menu bar. This happens when gnome-calculator is run from a terminal instead of from the Unity Dash. These issues affect both gnome-calculator 1:3.20.1-0ubuntu1 and 1:3.21.90-0ubuntu1 but do not affect 1:3.18.3-0ubuntu1 on yakkety. I think this was caused by the refresh of debian/patches/git_no_headerbars_in_unity.patch in the 3.20 update. [Bug 1532264] Re: fprintd allows unauthorized root access
I'm using 16.04 and installed from the default repos with a simple "sudo apt install libpam-fprintd", and I'm seeing the same (original) behaviour, as in fprintd-enroll doesn't require root to change the enrolled fingerprints (and asks for 5 swipes to confirm enrollment). The chmod o-x suggestion worked in that executing fprintd-enroll now requires root, but I suspect whatever files it writes to are still vulnerable to someone accessing my (rarely) unlocked and unattended machine, but at least now they'd have to come prepared with their own fingerprint enrollment files instead of just running it from a terminal and swiping a few times. This also seems like it would be an easy fix in the repo package, at least until a proper upstream fix is done. Is anyone even working on fprintd upstream anymore, though? ** Tags added: xenial -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1532264 Title: fprintd allows unauthorized root access To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fprintd/+bug/1532264/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 1661287] Re: Canon printer failed to connect with CUPS
I have gone into https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems and tried to follow the instructions of the "CUPS error_log" section. Step 1. I can't do it. Can't find "Save debugging information for troubleshooting" on "System" -> "Administration" -> "Printing". I have System Setting --> Printers --> Help --> Troubleshoot --> Forward. I get the message CUPS Service Stopped The CUPS print speel does not appear to be running. To correct this, choose System-Administration-Services from main menu and look for 'cups' service. My difficulty is there isn't such a path to follow. The is no Administration icon. Step 2: @Eliot:~$ cupsctl LogLevel=debug cupsctl: Unable to connect to server: Bad file descriptor Step 3: Skipped - Not applicable. Step4: I have gone into /etc/cups/cupsd.conf and manually uncommented LogLevel Original: # Deactivate CUPS' internal logrotating, as we provide a better one, especially # LogLevel debug2 gets usable now MaxLogSize 0 Presently: # Deactivate CUPS' internal logrotating, as we provide a better one, especially LogLevel debug2 gets usable now MaxLogSize 0 @Eliot:~$ $ sudo /etc/init.d/cups restart $: command not found The file is there. I believe Ubuntu16.04 is using systemd. I tried this and got the below failure message. @Eliot:~$ sudo systemctl restart /etc/systemd/system/cups.service Failed to restart etc-systemd-system-cups.service.mount: Unit etc-systemd-system-cups.service.mount not found. Unable to do Step 5,6, 7, 8. [Bug 1661836] Re: supertux 2 doesn't start
dinamic, you are a star... Unfortunately I can think of a few reasons why this might happen. 1. Unity8 server died (although you would have noticed) 2. Apparmour problems 3. Fullscreen apps may crash the server in Mir 0.26.0 (bug 1661508) And worse, when I try to test supertux under Mir right now it fails for a 4th reason: $ mirrun /usr/games/supertux2 [FATAL] /build/supertux-LmXSob/supertux-0.5.1/src/supertux/main.cpp:510 Unexpected exception: Couldn't initialize SDL: Failed to connect to the mir server: Failed to connect to server socket: No such file or directory Which sounds like a known issue with non-root users not being able to auto-discover the Mir socket path. However then running it as root also fails (SDL crashes trying to use X11). I can't tell where the cause of this bug is. Might also be in SDL. ** Also affects: libsdl2 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: supertux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: supertux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: libsdl2 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1661836 Title: supertux 2 doesn't start To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1661836/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Ich habe die folgenden potenziellen Lösungen auf Google gefunden (frag "package is in a very inconsistent state"). I had never seen such an issue. I found the following potential solutions on Google (look up "package is in a very bad inconsistent state"). From softest to hardest: 1) Check in /var/lib/update-notifier/package-data-downloads/partial/ if there are files that look like they were partially downloaded by ttf- mscorefonts-installer (e.g. fonts). If yes remove them: sudo rm /var/lib/update-notifier/package-data-downloads/partial/ Then reconfigure the package (I'd be surprised if it's enough): sudo dpkg-reconfigure ttf-mscorefonts-installer 2) Correct a broken installation with apt-get: sudo apt-get clean sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade sudo apt-get install --fix-broken Then try removing the half-installed package: sudo apt-get purge ttf-mscorefonts-installer 3) Force the removal of a package even if it's broken and marked to require reinstallation (I think this should fix your problem): sudo dpkg --purge --force-remove-reinstreq ttf-mscorefonts-installer If dpkg complains about dependencies, add the option --force-depends to this command line, and right afterwards run "sudo apt-get install --fix- broken" to fix the dependencies you just broke. You can then normally reinstall the package as explained in comment 3 (don't forget to update apt-transport-https to version 1.2.19 before reinstalling). 4) Brute force everything, these commands have been reported to work in one case: mkdir /tmp/msttcorefonts sudo mv /var/lib/dpkg/info/ttf-mscorefonts-installer.* /tmp/msttcorefonts/ sudo dpkg --purge --force-remove-reinstreq ttf-mscorefonts-installer sudo apt-get purge ttf-mscorefonts-installer sudo apt-get autoremove sudo apt-get autoclean If these commands run without error, you can now normally reinstall the package as explained in comment 3 (don't forget to update apt-transport- https to version 1.2.19 before reinstalling). But if you couldn't complete these commands without error, move the dpkg information back: sudo mv /tmp/msttcorefonts/* /var/lib/dpkg/info/ 5) Find and remove the section about ttf-mscorefonts-installer in /var/lib/dpkg/status (you must open it as root, e.g. with "sudo gedit /var/lib/dpkg/status"). Then try reinstalling the package as explained in comment 3 (don't forget to update apt-transport-https to version 1.2.19). [Bug 1662042] [NEW] Black screen after resuming from sleep with nvidia drivers on 16.04
Public bug reported: This happens on an ASUS ZenBook UX303UB, with nvidia-375 installed. I'm able to connect to the host through SSH. I have run the apport-bug tool when the display was black. The problem is not present when I switch back to using the Intel GPU using Nvidia's tool (through nvidia-prime). So far, I have done the following tests, following reports from other users: - Switched to kernel 4.8 - Tried with both nvidia-370 and nvidia-375 - Tried with fix to backlight (http://askubuntu.com/questions/820955/blank-screen-after-resume-dell-m5510-ubuntu-16-04/823523) - Configured ligthdm idle-timeout to 3 seconds and see if the display came back (due to an old bug affecting older versions) Bumblebee is not installed. I have seen several issues / questions that seems similar to this one, but I couldn't find a solution / workaround, other than disabling Nvidia's GPU. I appreciate any help to debug this. I recently get time to build kernel from source, using dpkg-buildpackage. [Bug 1662031] [NEW] Switching language and format broken
Public bug reported: In Ubuntu GNOME 16.10 it doesn't matter what display language I select - the effective language is still the one stated in /etc/default/locale. ~/.pam_environment is changed as expected, but the variables set in /etc/default/locale override ~/.pam_environment. In Ubuntu GNOME 16.04 language switching takes effect, but the reason for that seems to be that /etc/default/locale is changed as well, so when a user changes the display language (or format), it changes it for all users on the system. The overriding by /etc/default/locale is probably caused by some other package(s) but g-c-c. ** Affects: ubuntu-gnome Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: xenial yakkety ** Also affects: ubuntu-gnome Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags added: xenial yakkety -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1662031 Title: Switching language and format broken To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-gnome/+bug/1662031/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1386005] Re: Password not accepted graphical boot for encrypted root system
To add one more data point, I hit the same problem when upgrading from Kubuntu 14.04 to 16.04. Ondrej's workaround is also effective for my setup. In the end, the upgraded system was unusable for other problems as well so I did a fresh install. However, I kept the lvm volume group on luks device as my /home is there as well and I wanted to keep that. After installation from the Kubunut desktop disc (via usb flash drive) and setting up crypttab manually I still had the same problem: Entering the password via the graphical boot ignores the input. Hitting Alt- Cursor right and Alt-Cursor left I get a text screen with the password I entered. It's working in text mode thought. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1386005 Title: Password not accepted graphical boot for encrypted root system To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linuxmint/+bug/1386005/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1662027] [NEW] cacti vs PHP 7 vs split
Public bug reported: poller.php calls split in two places, which fails with PHP 7. This seems to only actually cause problems if poller.php is configured to poll the snmp data sources more than once per time poller.php is called by cron (which typically happens if 10 second or 30 second polling intervals are requested), but it appears to me that these error messages may appear in the logs even when cacti is configured to only poll once per time it is called by cron. It appears that using explode instead of split is the fix.
