[Bug 1655842] Re: "Out of memory" errors after upgrade to 4.4.0-59

[Bug 1662552] Re: snaps don't work with NFS home /home/u/user.name
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1620771 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1620771 Thanks for the fast reply! Unfortunately, the problem is not solved. The @{HOMEDIRS}+=/home/*/ line solves the location issue (as in bug #1620771 and bug #1592696), but here the location don't seems to be the real issue. To prove that, I replaced the nfs mounted home directory with a home directory on a local disk with the very same path. Then, snaps work as expected. From that, and from the error message included in my first post, my guess is, that the actual problem is nfs related. To be exact, here the complete sequence I followed: - Dock the PC, and wake it up. - Notice the CPU usage, and start 'perf' to debug - Undock the PC - Plug many USB devices in all ports. [Bug 1662774] [NEW] Icon and menu identify one program as another program
Public bug reported: On rare occasions, I launch gnome-terminal, and the icon in the dash/dock is for another program. The menu at the top of the screen also identifies the running program as that other program. In the forthcoming screenshot, note that the menu says "VLC media player" and although there is a gnome-terminal icon in the dash, it's not active. Instead, the VLC icon corresponds to the gnome-terminal window. If the other program is also running, the dash shows that there are two windows of that program (ie two VLCs) by showing two dots on the icon. Unfortunately, this is so rare that I can't remember if it is only gnome-terminal/VLC. (I don't think so, but I am not sure.) This is weird and wrong. [Bug 1661869] Re: maas install fails inside of a 16.04 lxd container due to avahi problems
Since [the released version of] MAAS declares avahi-utils as a "Recommends", you can use `apt-get --no-install-recommends` as an alternate workaround. But then you'll lose zeroconf hostname discoveries in MAAS. I understand that this has been changed to a hard dependency in MAAS 2.2, so I'm glad this is getting some attention upstream. ** Changed in: maas Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1661869 Title: maas install fails inside of a 16.04 lxd container due to avahi problems To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/maas/+bug/1661869/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1662763] Re: Intel I210 ethernet does not work both after S3
The 2 patches in mainline kernel can fix this issue commit 8646f7b4cdf2d0557e718c4524a3e31455b92ad7 Author: Jacob Keller AuthorDate: Tue May 24 13:56:31 2016 -0700 Commit: Jeff Kirsher CommitDate: Wed Jun 29 11:14:31 2016 -0700 igb: call igb_ptp_suspend during suspend/resume cycle Properly stop the extra workqueue items and ensure that we resume cleanly. This is better than using igb_ptp_init and igb_ptp_stop since these functions destroy the PHC device, which will cause other problems if we do so. Since igb_ptp_reset now re-schedules the work-queue item we don't need an equivalent igb_ptp_resume in the resume workflow. This allows us to embed links in webpages to snaps (like apt://). - Similar URLs - - apt:gedit - https://wiki.ubuntu.com/AptUrl + [Test Case] + 1. Run xdg-open snap://moon-buggy - appstream:org.gnome.gedit.desktop - https://www.freedesktop.org/software/appstream/docs/sect-AppStream-Services-UrlHandler.html + Observed result: + Get error about unknown URL. + + Expected result: + GNOME Software is opened showing the information for moon-buggy and ability to install. + + [Regression Potential] + Backported change from master has potential to break other URL handling. [Bug 1655779] Re: parted/libparted disables the read only status during the probe
I could not reproduce this at first using a loop device, but then I tried scsi_debug. This can be reproduced with a simple dd if=/dev/zero count=0 of=/dev/sda. Parted takes care to not needlessly delete and recreate partition dev nodes when they are not modified, but it appears that there has been a regression in udev/systemd that deletes and recreates all partitions on the disk any time the disk is opened for RW access, thus resetting the RO flag, and also triggering needless update events that cause unity to re-add removed drive icons to the launcher. ** Package changed: parted (Ubuntu) => udev (Ubuntu) ** Summary changed: - parted/libparted disables the read only status during the probe + udev deletes and recreates partition devices when the disk is opened r/w -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1655779 Title: udev deletes and recreates partition devices when the disk is opened r/w To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/udev/+bug/1655779/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1662750] [NEW] Remove 3rd party / non-free license warnings and just show license as Unknown
Public bug reported: [Impact] GNOME Software currently shows a large warning about software being 3rd party / non-free when the license information is shown. This is occurring for all snaps due to bug 167. This is misleading and would be simpler to just state the license is "Unknown". [Test Case] 1. Open GNOME Software and select a snap (e.g. moon-buggy) Expected result: moon-buggy is shown with an unknown license. Observed result: A large warning is shown about it being 3rd party / non-free. [Bug 1658884] Re: Wine doesn't run programs from nautilus
Nice to know about the security reasons, and Windows programs isolation is a good idea in general. Still, it'd be nice if the process to enable that functionality is clear. For example, after marking an exe file to run with Wine (right click, open with...) it will still do nothing if the program's path is not in Wine's list of drives. It fails silently, when some kind of error noting the situation would help a lot -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1658884 Title: Wine doesn't run programs from nautilus To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wine-development/+bug/1658884/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
