[Bug 1246950] [NEW] Snap Decisions with 3 actions do not show 3 buttons

2017-03-13 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

If you create a snap decision notification which has 3 actions, you
expect that the notification will appear in Unity8 with 3 vertically
placed buttons
(https://docs.google.com/a/canonical.com/document/d/1puQ9Z0yKqzsQ1VQ1OOBkxgp78iWGnAhAkFXWJFTWIrE/edit).

What actually happens is that you get 2 horizontally placed buttons, and
when you click the left button, the buttons are relayouted vertically
with the 3rd action visible.

Re: [Bug 1672191] Re: install from live 'CD' to hard drive. error about not being able to access a file

2017-03-13 Thread David Cox
Hi Phillip,

Thanks for the info. I don't have windows running on this PC and haven't
had for quite a while. The target partition initially showed up as xfs,
thats what it was on the first attempt at install.

After the failure I used gparted and formatted the partition as ext4..
got same error on second install attempt.

Grabbed an old DVD with Kubuntu 15.10 and the install worked fine to the
same partition although the subsequent update/upgrade took a while:).

Thanks for the quick reply though, not sure if my information helps at
all. My only real concern was that the problem was with the Ubuntu remix
on the Linux Format mag.

Best regards,

David

Autopilot patches both LD_LIBRARY_PATH and QML2_IMPORT_PATH before
starting unity8. Patching QML2_IMPORT_PATH causes this crash. To run
unity8 as it is run by autopilot, run the following as the phablet user
on the phone:

LD_LIBRARY_PATH="/usr/lib/arm-linux-
gnueabihf/unity8/qml/mocks/libusermetrics:/usr/lib/arm-linux-
gnueabihf/unity8/qml/mocks/LightDM/single" QML2_IMPORT_PATH="/usr/lib
/arm-linux-gnueabihf/unity8/qm/mocks" unity8 -testability

You should see the output above. However, launching it like this:

LD_LIBRARY_PATH="/usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/unity8/qml/mocks/libusermetrics:/usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/unity8/qml/mocks/LightDM/single"

[Bug 1380702] Re: No keyboards shortcuts in QT apps

2017-03-13 Thread Dmitry Shachnev
** Description changed:

- In some apps built using QT4 & 5, menu shortcuts are greyed out and
- inoperant. Only alt and FKeys-based shortcuts work. Others, notably
- ctrl+c for copying, do not.
+ Impact
+ ==

- This is quite serious ; mail me for more details.
+ This affects all Qt applications on Unity and other desktops which use
+ global menu, either via appmenu-qt5 or via native implementation on
+ Yakkety.
+
+ Any shortcut is not working if the corresponding action is attached only
+ to the menubar (i.e. and not also to the toolbar). It can be reproduced
+ with almost any application by removing the toolbar (right-clicking on
+ it and deselecting it).
+
+ Test Case
+ =
+
+ * Open Qt Assistant;

+
+
+ The proposed fix is a backport of the upstream fix at

+

+
+
+ The fix is in Zesty for 1½ months now (in upstream even longer), and so

** Description changed:

  Impact
  ==

This affects all Qt applications on Unity and other desktops which use
global menu, either via appmenu-qt5 or via native implementation on
  Yakkety.

Any shortcut is not working if the corresponding action is attached only
to the menubar (i.e. and not also to the toolbar). It can be reproduced
with almost any application by removing the toolbar (right-clicking on
  it and deselecting it).

  Test Case
  =

  * Open Qt Assistant;
  * Press Ctrl+T (this action is not on the toolbar).

Expected: a new tab should be opened. Current result: nothing happens.

+ In Yakkety the fix should work both with and without appmenu-qt5.
+
  Proposed Fix

[Bug 1671606] Re: DNS server from vpn connection is not being used after network-manager upgrade to 1.2.6-0ubuntu0.16.04.1

2017-03-13 Thread dlotton
network-manager:amd64 (1.2.2-0ubuntu0.16.04.4, 1.2.6-0ubuntu0.16.04.1)

I'm seeing a very similar problem, except I'm using a PPTP tunnel. I'm
on a Mint MATE 18.1 distro. On approximately 3/8/2017 the network
manager package was updated and about that time is when name resolution
stopped working when connected to a PPTP tunnel.

I can see that the ppp0 interface is getting a DHCP address from the remote
end, and it is also receiving a DNS IP address for the remote network. That
information gets populated into 'etc/ppp/resolv.conf' and the timestamp for
that file corresponds to the date/time I establish the PPTP connection.

I am able to reach machines on the remote network by IP address. This worked
as of last week (approx 3/8/2017) and had been working for a year or more prior.

I'm not sure how the local resolver stuff works, but it seems like the
proper information is being retrieved from the remote end point (IP
address, DNS info, etc.), but the local resolver is not pulling in the
information.

[Bug 1307619] Re: All Qt5 applications' menu bar is missing at non-Unity DEs after appmenu-qt5 installed

2017-03-13 Thread James
Fresh installation of Ubuntu 16.04LTS (Unity) and QT Creator v5.8.

The UI menu appears when opening a project which defaults to source code
edit. The menu disappears when shifting to UI layout / designer.
Returning to source code edit, the menu fails to reappear. I have tried
the "workaround", which does not work... around..

[Bug 1631241] Re: Name resolution stops working after resume from suspend

I have also been affected by this bug after upgrading network-manager
and related components to 1.2.6-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 from
1.2.2-0ubuntu0.16.04.4

My current workaround is to do:

sudo apt install network-manager=1.2.2-0ubuntu0.16.04.4
sudo apt install libnm-glib-vpn1=1.2.2-0ubuntu0.16.04.4
sudo apt install libnm-glib4=1.2.2-0ubuntu0.16.04.4
sudo apt install libnm0=1.2.2-0ubuntu0.16.04.4
sudo apt install libnm-util2=1.2.2-0ubuntu0.16.04.4

Followed by:
sudo apt-mark hold libnm-glib-vpn1
sudo apt-mark hold libnm-glib4
sudo apt-mark hold libnm0
sudo apt-mark hold network-manager
sudo apt-mark hold libnm-util2

[Bug 1672221] Re: problems between Ubuntu 16 and Windows 10.

2017-03-13 Thread Phillip Susi
It looks like your existing filesystem is damaged. Try having the
installer format the partition, or if you don't want to do that, use
e2fsck to check and repair it.

It looks like you tried to resize your Windows partition to install
Ubuntu, and this failed because the partition is corrupt. Have Windows

[Bug 1672502] [NEW] arm64 MSI/PCIe passthrough patches break build of certain configs

2017-03-13 Thread dann frazier
Public bug reported:

The zesty kernel has a backport of the MSI/PCIe passthrough changes for
arm64. This changeset introduced a bug that can cause a build failure
with certain configurations. Though it doesn't impact the Ubuntu config,
it could creep up again if we change our config. I reproduced it on
Ubuntu source b building the s390x image with CONFIG_PCI=n and
CONFIG_IRQ_DOMAIN=n.

[Bug 1672504] [NEW] pinctrl: qcom: add get_direction function

2017-03-13 Thread dann frazier
Public bug reported:

On QDF2400 systems (ACPI-based), the kernel currently assumes all GPIOs
from the qcom/pinctrl driver are configured for input. However, UEFI may
have configured them for output. An upstream fix addresses this by
adding a get_direction function:

commit 8e51533780ba223a3562ff4382c6b6f350c7e9a4
Author: Timur Tabi
Date: Fri Feb 10 17:21:00 2017 -0600

pinctrl: qcom: add get_direction function

The get_direction callback function allows gpiolib to know the current
direction (input vs output) for a given GPIO.

This is particularly useful on ACPI systems, where the GPIOs are
configured only by firmware (typically UEFI), so the only way to
know the initial values to query the hardware directly. Without
this function, gpiolib thinks that all GPIOs are configured for
input.

[Bug 1672491] Re: New NetworkManager breaks VPN DNS.

2017-03-13 Thread Mercury
Alright, this is due to a change to 1.2.4:

commit 2f12f485607590d6415cf5fb81ad4db5b04615cd
Author: Beniamino Galvani
Date: Wed May 11 18:43:41 2016 +0200

dns: specify egress interface for each dnsmasq upstream server

Currently we don't specify to dnsmasq which interface must be used to
contact a given nameserver and so requests can be sent through the
wrong interface.

Fix this by concatenating a @interface prefix to each server (unless
an IPv6 interface scope-id is already present).

https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=765153
(cherry picked from commit b71e104d333a1eb3325274089faf449126a4b157)

Now, this causes _two_ problems.

The first is that for some VPN connections you get traffic going out on
tap0, but due to the wonders of ipsec the responses show up on the
actual interface, such as eth0 or wlan0. This is a little bit of a pain
normally, but it means that dnsmasq simply dies. It is possible that
this is something I can fix on my VPN package, but it's _not_ a change
that I expected to see in a LTS release.

Second, https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1373485 (upstream
commit
http://thekelleys.org.uk/gitweb/?p=dnsmasq.git;a=commitdiff;h=2675f2061525bc954be14988d64384b74aa7bf8b
fixes it) now matters, and without that fix anything that removes an
interface and brings it back up breaks dnsmasq until dnsmasq is
restarted.

So, either 16.04 needs to fall back to 1.2.2, or dnsmasq needs the fix
applied.

(And if the latter is chosen, VPN plugins which worked before may still
be non-functional until additional work on them is done. Again, in an
LTS release?)

Regards,
Zephaniah E. Loss-Cutler-Hull.

[Bug 1671360] Re: System doesn't boot properly on AMD Ryzen / Gigabyte GA-AB350-gaming-3

2017-03-13 Thread Cosmin Mutu
@Robert ... sure, let me clarify the events.

1. I had Ubuntu 16.04 LTS for some time already running on my system.
2. I bought AMD Ryzen 1800 + Gigabyte AB350 Gaming 3 and I took the SSD from
the old system and pushed it into the new one
3. Everything worked fine, except I had to install NVIDIA drivers (I also
bought a better video card)
4. I noticed I couldn`t get CPU temperature, so I tried my luck by upgrading to
16.10 (BAD DECISION)
> during OS boot the IRQ VECTOR 07 error is repeated over and over
5. I then downloaded the 17.04 on a disk, and tried to install it
> ended up with IRQ VECTOR 07 error during install (so, no go)
6. I tried the Ubuntu 16.04 LTS from a disk (which was the origin of the OS at
step 1 ...) --> worked fine
7. I installed Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and here I am .. back at step 3 :)

I`ve never installed STUDIO, only DESKTOP as in this :

[Bug 1579543] Re: Firefox 46 is missing network shares in file selector

2017-03-13 Thread JamesH
For Ubuntu 14.04:
From:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/457461/gvfs-mount-not-working-on-ubuntu-14-04-for-wireless-hdd/459093#459093
Find the path to your network drive as it would be found in Terminal.

Now you can copy and paste this path into Firefox to access network share.
Make sure the share is mounted first. So, for me that path was:
/var/run/user/1000/gvfs/smb-share:server=192.168.1.1,share=router_drive/

Once you confirm you can access the network, go back to the gvfs folder
and save your share as a bookmark. Now you have it in the file open
menu.

I have Firefox version 52, so I guess no one is working on this issue.

[Bug 1644237] Re: unity8 fails to start as guest user

2017-03-13 Thread Michael Terry
OK, I've got a branch up that adds permission to talk to the USC
mir_socket to lightdm's apparmor profile for guests.

Bug 1593407 is indeed separate (though it also will involve editing the
guest apparmor profile). Not only can snaps not be run in a guest
session, but they aren't listed in the app drawer either, because we
can't talk to snapd.

When testing this, I also noticed a bug in unity8. The screen gets
locked due to a timeout. But the guest user can't unlock the screen.
Looking at that.

[Bug 1672486] [NEW] arm64: Workaround QDF2400 erratum 0065

2017-03-13 Thread dann frazier
Public bug reported:

QDF2400 platforms require an erratum workaround to avoid a memory
corruption issue. This was fixed upstream in the following commit:

commit 90922a2d03d84de36bf8a9979d62580102f31a92
Author: Shanker Donthineni
Date: Tue Mar 7 08:20:38 2017 -0600

irqchip/gicv3-its: Add workaround for QDF2400 ITS erratum 0065

On Qualcomm Datacenter Technologies QDF2400 SoCs, the ITS hardware
implementation uses 16Bytes for Interrupt Translation Entry (ITE),
but reports an incorrect value of 8Bytes in GITS_TYPER.ITTE_size.

It might cause kernel memory corruption depending on the number
of MSI(x) that are configured and the amount of memory that has
been allocated for ITEs in its_create_device().

This patch fixes the potential memory corruption by setting the
correct ITE size to 16Bytes.

** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
 Importance: High
 Assignee: dann frazier (dannf)
 Status: In Progress

[Bug 1672491] [NEW] New NetworkManager breaks VPN DNS.

2017-03-13 Thread Mercury
Public bug reported:

Alright, this is going to be a frustrating bug for everyone involved I
expect, but here goes.

On Ubuntu 16.04, using a non-released VPN client (making this _much_
harder for anyone to reproduce), upgrading the network-manager packages
from 1.2.2-0ubuntu0.16.04.3 to 1.2.6-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 quite handily
broke DNS over the VPN.

And it broke it really oddly.

dnsmasq binds to socket 12 for the new interface, just fine.

strace shows that it does the sendto for the DNS request, and that the
poll calls are working, just fine.

tcpdump shows the response messages, they are coming back from the
correct host and port, going to my IP and the port that dnsmasq is
sending from.

There are no iptables rules involved, nothing is set to deny.

dnsmasq is never getting the response packet.

The request thus times out.

Doing a host or dig directly to the DNS server works just fine.

And this is completely reproducible, and goes away the moment I
downgrade back to 1.2.2-0ubuntu0.16.04.3.

Was there some change to how network-manager handles VPN interfaces/tap0
in the new version?

** Affects: network-manager (Ubuntu)

[Bug 1659111] Comment bridged from LTC Bugzilla

2017-03-13 Thread bugproxy
--- Comment From thiag...@br.ibm.com 2017-03-13 14:27 EDT---
Hello Canonical,

Let me provide a status update:

To fix this bug it's necessary to fix several issues with lifetime of
structures in the block subsystem, as well as a number of related race
conditions. A number of patches need to be backported to fix these
problems:

The "BDI lifetime fix" v3 series?, which was already merged into Linus'
tree:

f44f1ab5a2dc block: Unhash block device inodes on gendisk destruction
dc3b17cc8bf2 block: Use pointer to backing_dev_info from request_queue
d03f6cdc1fc4 block: Dynamically allocate and refcount backing_dev_info
b1d2dc5659b4 block: Make blk_get_backing_dev_info() safe without open bdev
efa7c9f97e3e block: Get rid of blk_get_backing_dev_info()

A couple of follow up fixes were merged for commits dc3b17cc8bf and
b1d2dc5659b4:

e17354961bb5 zram_drv: update for backing dev info changes
a5a79d00017c block: Initialize bd_bdi on inode initialization

The first 4 patches from the "block: Fix block device shutdown related
races" v2 series? were also merged:

4b8c861a7c79 block: Move bdev_unhash_inode() after invalidate_partition()
d06e05c026ab block: Unhash also block device inode for the whole device
cccd9fb9ec96 block: Revalidate i_bdev reference in bd_aquire()
165a5e22fafb block: Move bdi_unregister() to del_gendisk()

A couple of follow up fixes were also merged for commit 165a5e22fafb:

b6f8fec4448a block: Allow bdi re-registration
df23de55615f bdi: Fix use-after-free in wb_congested_put()

Commit df23de55615f depends on the following commit:

5f478e4ea5c5 block: fix double-free in the failure path of
cgwb_bdi_init()

In addition to the commits mentioned above, we will also need the
patches from v4 of the same series, which was posted today:

https://marc.info/?l=linux-block&m=148941806220331&w=2

I have a branch with the patches that were already merged upstream
backported on top of tag Ubuntu-4.4.0-65.86. Most of the commits didn't
have any conflicts, and the ones that did were simple to resolve.

I will attach the backported patches to this bug report when all of the
patches that we need are accepted upstream.
