[Bug 1644669] Re: Uploader.close() fails if in Loading state
The difficulty I see is that the underlying socket isn't connected until we get the reply from the provider and we can set the socket fd. I don't think it is possible to write to a QIODevice before it enters the valid state. The doc says: "Before accessing the device, open() must be called to set the correct OpenMode (such as ReadOnly or ReadWrite)." We don't call open(), but call setSocketDescriptor() instead (which is the moral equivalent of open()). Unless I'm misreading the doc, any writes to the socket will fail until after it is connected, so we'd have to buffer up all the data that was written, as well as queuing the close() call. It seems it would be rather complex to provide this functionality. It's also problematic to make it symmetric with downloads. There, I can't call close() either before the socket is ready (for obvious reasons). I have a sneaking suspicion that doing this may be a bit too clever? As is, the rules are simple: for both download and upload, wait until the socket is ready before you do anything else with it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1644669 Title: Uploader.close() fails if in Loading state To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/storage-framework/+bug/1644669/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

@experimencer Thanks again. It helped me tied over this period. ;) @huiprobable To solve your issue, I think you have to run the script after passing password authentication. [Bug 1667158] Re: Regression: Borders of windows and desktop background are displayed badly after suspend/resume
@kcm. I ran GPU calculations /NVIDIA_CUDA-8.0_Samples/5_Simulations/nbody/nbody and also https://www.airtightinteractive.com/demos/ribbons/ for about 20 mins. Nvidia X Server Setting --> GPU 0 - (GForce GTX Titan) --> Thermal Setting showed: Temperature = 72 to 75 degrees C, Fan speed = ~1737rpm, 44%, Control type = variable, Cooling target = GPU, Memory & Power supply. --> PowerMizer performance level=3, graphic clock = 536 to 1202 MHz, Memory Transfer Rate = 6008 to 6008 MHz set at maximum performance mode. These results look ok, no overheating. I physically touched my GPU fan and it is running. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1667158 Title: Regression: Borders of windows and desktop background are displayed badly after suspend/resume To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linuxmint/+bug/1667158/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1636395] Re: dnsmasq not working with OpenVPN
Okay so I have found the issue pertaining to dns resolution on Ubuntu 16.04.2! There is a critical bug in the package dnsmasq-base here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dnsmasq/+bug/1639776 The fix hasn't yet been applied to the current version of dnsmasq-base. This time I have all the dependencies on 1.2.6 at their newest version and installing the patched .deb version provided by Harald Rudell fixes DNS name resolution on wakeup/suspend and with restart of the network manager, all while cooperating with openvpn. I hope this helps anyone on 16.04.2 LTS! wget https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dnsmasq/+bug/1639776/+attachment/4780245/+files /dnsmasq-base_2.76-4ubuntu1FIX1639776ubuntu1_amd64.deb sudo dpkg -i dnsmasq-base_2.76-4ubuntu1FIX1639776ubuntu1_amd64.deb This appears to have actually worked, and is much better than using dnscrypt-proxy (which I have found to be incredibly slow) or holding back a bunch of packages. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1636395 Title: dnsmasq not working with OpenVPN To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dnsmasq/+bug/1636395/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1681294] Re: ugly "pthread_create failed: Resource temporarily unavailable" running snaps
** Description changed: [Impact] As reported here: https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/snapcraft/2017-March/003497.html (and on internal lists), it is possible for a golang executable that calls syscall.Exec to print an ugly "pthread_create failed: Resource temporarily unavailable" message before it starts the new process. There is no functional effect, but snapd runs into this frequently so it interferes with a nice snappy experience. Luckily for us, the bug was fixed upstream in the 1.8 release (https://github.com/golang/go/issues/18146) so I can just backport the fix to Xenial and Yakkety. + + It also turns out to be necessary to include two more upstream patches + that fix test suite failures with new tzdata packages. [Test case] Run this code: package main // import "C" import ( - "syscall" + "syscall" ) func main() { - syscall.Exec("/bin/true", []string{"/bin/true"}, nil) + syscall.Exec("/bin/true", []string{"/bin/true"}, nil) } a few thousand times and check for messages (it prints a message ~2% of the time or so without the fix). [Regression potential] The patch is simple, if a bit verbose (it has some per-architecture changes). It has not been the cause of any bug reports in 1.8 as far as I am aware. So I would characterise the regression potential as very low. + + The tzdata patches are similarly well exercised as they are backports, + and are necessary or the build will fail! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1681294 Title: ugly "pthread_create failed: Resource temporarily unavailable" running snaps To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/golang-1.6/+bug/1681294/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1681295] [NEW] Problem in network-manager-openvpn, openvpn fails during and after downloads.
Public bug reported: So I've been using OpenVPN through the network-manager-openvpn package integrated into the network manager GUI. I experienced an odd problem where consistently, during or after downloading (in this case, I tested by just downloading the kernel tarball from kernel.org repeatedly, which is around 90MB) Every single time, without fail, the openvpn client would fail and my connection would go dead. To reconnect, I would have to manually restart the network manager. Now, I played around with .conf files and the CLI openvpn client and noticed EXACTLY the same behavior happening. I eventually arrived to the conclusion that the flag or option "auth-nocache" would cause a connection reset after or during downloads and streaming. I then got to reading the openvpn man pages and I stumbled across this message (you can easily find it by going 'man openvpn | grep nocache') about the guaranteed failure of key renegotiation if auth-user-pass and auth-nocache were used together: " Further, using --daemon together with --auth-user-pass (entered on console) and --auth-nocache will fail as soon as key renego‐ tiation (and reauthentication) occurs." When I removed auth-user-pass from my .conf files, the problem went away. Then I wondered. Now what if...network-manager-openvpn was actually passing both flags to openvpn? Then I downloaded the source tarball and found that indeed, this exact thing is happening on a SINGLE line. See line 1380 of network-manager-openvpn-1.1.93/src/nm-openvpn-service.c "add_openvpn_arg (args, "--auth-nocache");" So I decided to comment out that single line. I then rebuilt the packages network-manager-openvpn and network-manager-openvpn using 'dpkg-buildpackage -us -uc -nc', installed them, and tested downloading the source kernel repeatedly to see if the connection would hold. It does! Literally commenting out ONE line fixed weeks worth of extreme annoyance repeatedly reconnecting to my vpn. This issue is rather annoying and needs to be fixed so openvpn doesn't keep cutting out. I've attached a patch for the source. ** Affects: network-manager-openvpn (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: network-manager network-manager-openvpn openvpn ** Patch added: "The following patch removes the single offending line which causes this issue." https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1681295/+attachment/4859305/+files/nm-openvpn-service-fix.patch ** Also affects: network-manager-openvpn (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** No longer affects: network-manager (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1681295 Title: Problem in network-manager-openvpn, openvpn fails during and after downloads. [Bug 1681294] [NEW] ugly "pthread_create failed: Resource temporarily unavailable" running snaps
Public bug reported: [Impact] As reported here: https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/snapcraft/2017-March/003497.html (and on internal lists), it is possible for a golang executable that calls syscall.Exec to print an ugly "pthread_create failed: Resource temporarily unavailable" message before it starts the new process. There is no functional effect, but snapd runs into this frequently so it interferes with a nice snappy experience. Luckily for us, the bug was fixed upstream in the 1.8 release (https://github.com/golang/go/issues/18146) so I can just backport the fix to Xenial and Yakkety. [Test case] Run this code: package main // import "C" import ( "syscall" ) func main() { syscall.Exec("/bin/true", []string{"/bin/true"}, nil) } a few thousand times and check for messages (it prints a message ~2% of the time or so without the fix). [Regression potential] The patch is simple, if a bit verbose (it has some per-architecture changes). It has not been the cause of any bug reports in 1.8 as far as I am aware. So I would characterise the regression potential as very low. ** Affects: golang-1.6 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: golang-1.6 (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: golang-1.6 (Ubuntu Yakkety) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: golang-1.6 (Ubuntu Yakkety) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: golang-1.6 (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1681294 Title: ugly "pthread_create failed: Resource temporarily unavailable" running snaps To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/golang-1.6/+bug/1681294/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1671606] Re: DNS server from vpn connection is not being used after network-manager upgrade to 1.2.6-0ubuntu0.16.04.1
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1639776 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1639776 Okay so I have found the issue pertaining to dns resolution on Ubuntu 16.04.2! I hope this helps anyone on 16.04.2 LTS! wget https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dnsmasq/+bug/1639776/+attachment/4780245/+files/dnsmasq-base_2.76-4ubuntu1FIX1639776ubuntu1_amd64.deb sudo dpkg -i dnsmasq-base_2.76-4ubuntu1FIX1639776ubuntu1_amd64.deb This appears to have actually worked, and is much better than using dnscrypt-proxy (which I have found to be incredibly slow) or holding back a bunch of packages. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1671606 Title: DNS server from vpn connection is not being used after network-manager upgrade to 1.2.6-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1671606/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1681290] [NEW] UI experiences delay when menu / tooltip disappears
Public bug reported: Sometimes the system will not respond to mouse clicks or keypresses. This appears to happen when I hold the mouse over an item and a pop-up tooltip appears, or when I click on a menu. I believe it happens when the tooltip/menu is set to disappear. Steps to reproduce are: 1) Select a menu item 2) Click outside the menu 3) The click won't register for around 7 or 8 seconds. No other keypresses register immediately but will occur around 7 seconds later. (nvidia) This driver can now be downloaded and installed manually from Nvidia link, or via ppa from Graphics Drivers Team and sudo apt-get update (see comment #54). + + See https://launchpad.net/~graphics-drivers/+archive/ubuntu/ppa == Update1: == Nvidia states that the bug will be fixed in the next release: https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/990898/linux/suspend-corrupts- window-manager-after-upgrade-to-378-09/2. However no timeline for the next release was mentioned. Meanwhile workarounds have to be used to alleviate/overcome the bad window borders and title bar caused by driver version 375.39. -- Possible workarounds for the time being -- - Alternative A: Keep using nvidia-375.39 with workarounds. E.g. kill or replace compiz process. See comments #13 and #44 given below for implementation details. Beware, some users found the command killed applications like Firefox or Thunderbird on resume while others did not. E.g. Use "unity" command (see comments #4 and #23) E.g. Click an effect in CompizConfig Setting Manager (CCSM) --> Effects. (see comment $5) - Alternative B: Use alternative graphic drivers. E.g. Install nvidia-340 package if that versions supports your graphic card: sudo apt install nvidia-340. Or use Nouveau display driver or other suitable drivers available in System Settings --> Software & Updates --> Additional Drivers. - Alternative C: Downgrade to earlier driver versions that worked before the updgrade occurred. E.g. use nvidia-367 package. Beware, that this driver version has unfixed security holes! Downgrading works in Yakkety, possibly also in Xenial, but likely not in Zesty. Thanks @sunbear-c22 for sharing my workaround (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics- drivers-375/+bug/1667158/comments/12), simpler vesion in Bash shell that I'm currently using after resume from suspend: kill $(ps -eo pid, comm | grep "compiz" | grep -v grep | awk '{print $1}') which restarts compiz and restores normal window borders to all desktop screens and application windows. Issue is still in Xenail with Nvidia 378.13, and none of the workarounds above does work. [Bug 1672033] Re: Xorg does not detect displays in rootless mode on nvidia proprietary drivers (GNOME)
Jeremy, it's not related. Also, this is how it supposed to work. If gdm thinks it cannot start wayland session, it wont display Wayland option. Why does gdm thinks Wayland session is not available you ask? Because I presume you have modesetting disabled, because installation or update for nvidia driver overwrites: /etc/modprobe.d/nvidia-graphics-drivers.conf -> /etc/alternatives/x86_64 -linux-gnu_nvidia_modconf and puts by default: options nvidia_381_drm modeset=0 which will prevent wayland from working. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1672033 Title: Xorg does not detect displays in rootless mode on nvidia proprietary drivers (GNOME) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nvidia-drivers-ubuntu/+bug/1672033/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
