[Bug 1671360] Re: System doesn't boot properly on Gigabyte AM4 motherboards (AMD Ryzen)

2017-04-12 Thread Eric Joslyn
OK - I found a good mention of the problem here. He says “There's a bug
relating to the Gaming 5 board where dmesg gets flooded with errors about
interrupts unless you disable CONFIG_PINCTRL_AMD.”
https://www.reddit.com/r/VFIO/comments/63igfa/horrible_amd_ryzen_performance/

That prompted me to compile a new kernel without the pinctrl-amd option. That
option is found when in the kernel configuration utility makeconfig, in the
section called Device Drivers/Pin control/AMD GPIO pin control.

I used the compiling instructions found here:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/163298/whats-a-simple-way-to-recompile-the-kernel

I used GIT to download the latest kernel source (4.11.0-rc6) I made no
changes to the default kernel configuration other than to check off the
pinctrl-amd option. Compiling took over 2 hours, running on only one
core!

The new kernel unstalled with no problems. acpi=off is no longer
necessary to boot, and 16 cores are visible and active in KDE sysguard.
No crashes.

After installing the new kernel, I tried compiling with the multicore
switch, 'make -j 16'. It's pretty impressive to see 16 threads running
at 97%.

Of course, this is just a temporary fix.

[Bug 1682348] [NEW] libfmt3-dev missing cmake config files

2017-04-12 Thread Wolfgang Schupp
Public bug reported:

fmtlib uses cmake as it's build system and therefore provides cmake config
files for downstream projects. Those cmake config files are missing in the

This breaks e.g. kodi.

Re: [Bug 1682340] Re: Bootup issues

2017-04-12 Thread Art Lopez
Thank you for your fast response.

I have a bootable thumb drive (Ubuntu 16.04 iso) attempting to start in
live mode to try and repair/replace my original grub (prior to slow down).

When I attempted a boot from the usb drive (several times) it went straight
to the ssd drive and booted from there.

Thanks for any thoughts/suggestions you may have on this.

[Bug 1554795] Re: timeout on restart or shutdown with LUKS root

2017-04-12 Thread Joshua Kugler
I have this problem on a system, and it *never* finishes stopping. It
prints out a bunch of "timeout" messages about stopping various disks,
then hangs forever stopping the crypt disk. I'll try to get an image of
it.

[Bug 1679488] Re: Thunar freezes when left inactive for a while

2017-04-12 Thread Andreas Nadobnik
I can confirm this issue on our computers running Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS
with Xfce.

As soon as qtcreator (3.5.1+dfsg-2ubuntu2) autosave a file, Thunar
(1.6.11-0ubuntu0.16.04.1) freezes.

And also I can confirm that this behavior doesn't happen when
downgrading to Thunar version 1.6.10-2ubuntu1.

sudo apt-get install thunar=1.6.10-2ubuntu1 thunar-data=1.6.10-2ubuntu1
libthunarx-2-0=1.6.10-2ubuntu1

Btw... it is independent if qtcreator was started from Thunar or from
start menu. As long as Thunar shows the files within the directory where
qtcreator autosave these files, Thunar will freeze.

[Bug 1682336] [NEW] reformatted hard drive after bug with xfce desktop, re-install now failing

2017-04-12 Thread Trevor B
Public bug reported:

I think this is a newbie mistake. I already have a desktop interface. I
was following a digital ocean tutorial for setting up VNC. Part of it
was installing xfce desktop. My system started being buggy (in steam
Warhammer wouldn't display models, on reboot I would type in my password
and the screen would go black, and then it would prompt me for my
password again). I decided to do a complete system re-install. I got a
message that the install is now failing because of not being able to
access a drive or something.

[Bug 1540692] Re: Enable the VirtIO GPU 3D (Virgil)

2017-04-12 Thread GizmoChicken
I'm also unable to use the VirtIO GPU 3D (Virgil) on Ubuntu 16.10.

Does this bug still apply to Ubuntu 16.10? Or is some other issue
preventing me from using Virgil on Ubuntu 16.10?

My QEMU commands include the following:

-vga virtio \
-display gtk,gl=on \

When I try to start my VM using commands including the above, I get:

qemu-system-x86_64: -display gtk,gl=on: GTK support is disabled

On the other hand, when OMIT "-display gtk,gl=on" from my commands (but
still include "-vga virtio"), the VM starts up. But in that case,
"dmesg | grep drm" on the guest reveals that, although "virtio-vga
detected" is output, "virgl 3d acceleration not available" is also
output.

My host is running Ubuntu 16.10 with all packages up-to-date, including
the following:

 qemu (2.6.1+dfsg-0ubuntu5.3)
 libvirglrenderer0 (0.5.0-1)

I get the above when using Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 16.10, and Ubuntu 17.04
as guests.

So, is VirtIO GPU 3D (Virgil) enabled in Ubuntu 16.10?

[Bug 1639776] Re: name resolution (dnsmasq) fails to send queries out after suspend/resume reconnects the interface

2017-04-12 Thread NJ
I've installed dnsmasq-base_2.75-1ubuntu0.16.04.2 (on Linux Mint),
installed the 1.2.6 version of Network Manager and . . my VPN still
didn't work; the problem (that I had with network-manager 1.2.6 and the
older version of dnsmasq) wasn't solved. Still, my problem didn't begin
after suspend/resume but rather with boot. Reverting back, once again,
to the 1.2.2 version of Network Manager makes everything work again.

[Bug 1682320] [NEW] apt-transport-tor causes errors saying "Failed to download repository information"

2017-04-12 Thread Joeseph Sparrow
Public bug reported:

Using apt-transport-tor results in errors which say "Failed to download
repository information. Check your internet connection." with software
updater.

It worked fine for a few days before this with changes to the sources
files.

I am using Ubuntu 16.04 64 bit version Xenial.

Using the terminal I get some "Hash Sum mismatches".

lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS
Release:16.04

apt-cache policy apt-transport-tor
apt-transport-tor:
  Installed: 0.2.1-1build4

 *** 0.2.1-1build4 500
500 tor+http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/universe amd64
Packages

I expected the software updates to work without errors.

[Bug 1682319] [NEW] xbindkeys key keeps changing

2017-04-12 Thread Darryl
Public bug reported:

I'm using xbindkeys (apt list shows: xbindkeys/xenial,now 1.8.6-1 amd64
[installed]). My ~/.xbindkeysrc file contains entries I can use to
launch/switch to an app using a shell script named jumpapp
(https://github.com/mkropat/jumpapp). Here's part of my ~/.xbindkeysrc:

keystate_numlock = enable
keystate_scrolllock = enable
keystate_capslock = enable

#Raise/Run xterm
"/usr/bin/jumpapp xterm"
m:0x50 + c:28
Mod2+Mod4 + t

This uses "-t" to launch xterm. I got 'Mod2+Mod4 + t' by
using the xbindkeys-config 'Get Key' feature.

The problem I'm seeing is that sometimes the "Windows" key is captured
as:

Mod2+Mod4

and sometimes it's captured as:

Mod4

and other times it's captured as:

Mod4+Super_L

Most of the time it seems to like Mod2+Mod4. Every once in a while my
key combination stops working. I've created 3 .xbindkeysrc files, each
with the different "Windows" key combinations. When this problem
occurs, I bring up xbindkeys-config, get the "current" Windows key
combination, and I copy/paste the right one to ~/.xbindkeysrc and reload
xbindkeys.

The only keyboards I use are the built-in one in my laptop, and a
Logitech Illuminated Keyboard (USB). I've tried using xbindkeys-config
on both keyboards using 'Get Key' and they both give the same results.

** Affects: xbindkeys-config (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

I've uploaded the requested logs. As mentioned in comment #1, I do have
the the UWB wireless setting disabled in the BIOS, so the laptop can
suspend. If you need it re-enabled in order to gather additional
information, just let me know. Thanks.

[Bug 1515513] Re: /boot/initrd.img-*.old-dkms files left behind

2017-04-12 Thread spike speigel
Also found this:

https://github.com/dell/dkms/issues/2

It's known upstream in debian and dkms, but whether dkms or initramfs-
tools should be responsible for cleaning up files left behind by
dkms...I dunno. What you posted sounded like it made sense to me.

I just wanted to note at least dkms has an upstream bug report (which
was opened May 2016).

** Description changed:

Description: Ubuntu Zesty Zapus (development branch)

  What was expected to happen?
I expected the laptop would suspend after selecting 'suspend' from the

  What happened instead?
The screen went black and I was logged out, but the laptop did not suspend.
