[Bug 1684100] Re: TP-LINK TL-WN722N 150MBPS not working on Ubuntu 17.04. Worked fine on 16.10

2017-04-20 Thread sutupud
The suffix of the [device-XXX] section is irrelevant, that is only to
distinguish different device sections, match-device is what is important
here. match-device=wlxf81a6721bb82 should be correct for your device. In
my case it's wlan3 because I still have an old udev persistent net rule
that renaming the device to the old scheme.

You could also use

[device]
wifi.scan-rand-mac-address=0

to disable mac address randomization globally for all devices, then all
devices use their real mac while scanning instad of a random one.

Subject: [Bug 1662213] Re: update not working

To tell us that "update is not working" and then report a problem
against the display server won't help in getting your issue fixed. As
such, your report contains little or no useful information about the
problem that you have encountered.

Filing against "update-manager" for now.

You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.

At a minimum, we need:

1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

Thanks!

[Bug 1684296] Re: package privoxy:i386 3.0.26-3 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2017-04-20 Thread Roland Rosenfeld
Your /etc/privoxy/config above looks very old (copyright 2006) and outdated.
It refers to /etc/privoxy/standard.action and /etc/privoxy/global.action, which
are no longer contained in 3.0.26-3.
So if you upgrade the package and keep the old config without adapting it, this
will always fail.
There is some voodoo in postinst, that tries to work around these issues on
upgrade, but these may fail if you do some wild version hopping...

Please try to purge privoxy, remove all old junk from /etc/privoxy and
do a fresh install.

[Bug 1680390] Re: Ubuntu17.04: Kernel Oops: Exception in kernel mode, sig: 5 [#1] during Avocado KVM Test runs [Regression]

2017-04-20 Thread Seth Forshee
We've been getting a number of other reports of this problem. I've been
trying to reproduce it locally, without any luck so far. However it does
appear that the problem happens only in zesty kernels and not with
upstream 4.10 stable kernels, which suggests that one of the backports
or sauce patches we've applied. The stack trace suggests a problem with
migration (or possibly KSM).

Going through those sorts of commits related to the kernel mm code, a
few stand out based on the size of the changes and the code they're
touching. All of them are backports requested for power9 on bug
#1671613.

6e2a092a48d3 mm: introduce page_vma_mapped_walk()
3000e033152a mm, ksm: convert write_protect_page() to use page_vma_mapped_walk()
c228a1037cd6 mm/ksm: handle protnone saved writes when making page write protect

Some upstream bug fixes reference these patches too (but no mention of
the BUG we're hitting):

d19469e84158 power/mm: update pte_write and pte_wrprotect to handle savedwrite
d75450ff40df mm: fix page_vma_mapped_walk() for ksm pages

I'm going to try to set up the Avocado tests today to see if that allows
me to reproduce. If you are able to reproduce reliably, you could try
applying the fixes above to see if they help, or try bisecting the
patches applied to zesty on top of upstream 4.10 to identify the patch
which causes the issues.

No, that's not it.

[Bug 1650927] Re: accessing local ethernet is possible, accessing internet is not possible (Ubuntu MATE 17.04, ppc)

Same here. Adding 8.8.8.8 in NetworkManager didn't work. Pinging
websites didn't work, but pinging their IP did work. Weirdly, even when
ping didn't work, it printed the IP.

As suggested here:

I disabled DNSSEC. Now I can access the Internet.

[Bug 1682437] Re: udev does not preserve virtio interface names on s390x upgrades

2017-04-20 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
Install yakkety in an Ubuntu KVM with two network interfaces.
Enabled yakkety-proposed, did apt full-upgrade.
Executed do-release-upgrade.
It upgraded to zesty, including zesty-proposed.
At the end of do-release-upgrade accepted to reboot.
After reboot, the system come up fine, with network interface names preserved
as eth0 and eht1, with networking correctly operating.
Removed /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules and updated
/etc/networking/interfaces to use enc1 (checked that this is the correct
persistent name for eth0 using udevadm info -p /sys/class/net/eth0).
Updated initramfs and rebooted.
Still have networking, and now both interfaces use the stable device names enc1
and enc2.

[Bug 1684652] [NEW] Dash runs in defective state

2017-04-20 Thread Stefan Helmert
Public bug reported:

On Ubuntu 16.04.2: If I click left on the dash button in the launcher
and hold down this mouse button while pressing super+s the workspace
overview opens and the dash becomes defective.

Resuming from workspace overview to one active workspace the defective
state remains: opening the dash by clicking the dash button or pressing
the super key results in appearing the dash for only some milliseconds.

The defective state can be fixed by opening and closing the workspace
overview again.

[Bug 1682484] Re: systemd: Logging from gnome session is passed on to all syslog facilities

2017-04-20 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
Easier test is from
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1613751

$ grep -e NetworkManager -e gnome-session-binary /var/log/kern.log

Before it would have loads of messages

$ sudo rm /var/log/kern.log
# upgrade to -proposed package

Now with new package there is only two audit messages from apparmor
about NetworkManager and that's it.

[Bug 1684620] [NEW] Unity crash using application window overview and workspace switcher at the same time

2017-04-20 Thread Stefan Helmert
Public bug reported:

On Ubuntu 16.04.2: If I have multiple windows of one apllication open, I
can click the app on the Launcher and see all the windows of this app in
an overview screen. If I have the overview screen open and then i press
super+s to show the workspace overview, the Unity desktop runs in a
defective state.

The defective state means: The Overview mode for multiple windows of one
application is not more available. The titlebar of the active window is
shown two time: at top off the window and in top of the screen, but only
that one on top of the window is working.

Further use of Unity in defective state will result in freeze and
automatic restart of Unity.

[Bug 1682913] Re: Missing libgles1 in Ubuntu 17.04 repos triggers issues with some games

For the record, Faeria looks just fine on my Intel without
libgles1-mesa, which btw should not be used by anything provided by
Steam. Also, Fedora never packaged it so surely there should be more
upset users?

You probably are just seeing a bug with mesa 17.0.2 on your hw, and
updating to oibaf ppa fixes it

[Bug 1679528] Re: Missing Skype & Google Hangouts tray icon in 17.04

2017-04-20 Thread Dev
The problem seems to be that in 17.04, the XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP variable
changed from "Unity" to "Unity:Unity7" for some reason. I see no point
in this change now, since both Unity 7 and Unity 8 are now dead, so
maybe the simplest solution would be to revert this for the remaining
lifetime of the this DE? This way all existing applications would still
work.

[Bug 1682499] Re: disable dnssec

2017-04-20 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
@duggalsudeep

This is not a regression, we are intentionally disabling DNSSEC by
default; and yes you do need to change /etc/systemd/resolved.conf to
enable DNSSEC - just like in yakkety. It was a mistake that we enabled
it for zesty.

[Bug 1684588] [NEW] ADT upstream tests should run with QEMU on more architectures

2017-04-20 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
Public bug reported:

ADT upstream tests should run with QEMU on more architectures.

Currently there is:

TEST RUN: Job-related tests
Could not find a suitable QEMU binary
W: can't run QEMU, skipping

On e.g. ppc64el.

This needs testing to make sure upstream tests know how to correctly
setup a serial console on all arches (e.g. might not know specifics of
s390x/ppc64el/etc)
