[Bug 1679962] Re: psmouse serio1: Explorer Mouse at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost synchronization, throwing 3 bytes away.

2017-05-03 Thread slimbook
** Description changed:

  353/5000
  Hello,
Randomly the touchpad pointer moves to one end of the screen, and we have
found that when it does message appears in dmseg:

psmouse serio1: Explorer Mouse at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost
  synchronization, throwing 3 bytes away.

Sometimes it happens after 10 minutes of use, sometimes it happens after 3 or
4 hours.
We have tested several computers with touchpad "Hantick", that use the both,
the evdev library and the libinput library. It always happens randomly.

  Thanks,

Re: [Bug 1592669] Re: postinst fails when daemon is not running (or is disabled by policy-rc.d)

2017-05-03 Thread Jordao
At my home I keep Mysql usually disabled until I need it, but it may
happen, in a few cases, you might have an another mysql (custom install)
running.
Maybe the installer could open an dialog and asks if the user wants the
service to be started automatically for the upgrade (and then disabled) or
keep it unconfigured.

These patches should resolve the issue:

https://git.gnome.org/browse/evolution-data-server/commit/?h=evolution-data-server-3-12=fedfc8f

Ubuntu packagers should incorperate these to prevent Evolution from
asking for passwords.

I have executed

$ autoconf
$ ./configure
$ automake

to those opened packages but it does not seem to affect anything? (Lubuntu

[Bug 1687000] Re: Opera web browser can't play some HTML5 videos after codecs update

2017-05-03 Thread Olivier Tilloy
I can reliably observe the issue in a xenial VM.

According to https://www.opera.com/docs/history/, the latest stable
release of opera (44.0.2510.1449) is based on chromium 57 (57.0.2987.133
if the UA string can be trusted).

At a wild guess, the next opera update should be compatible with the
chromium codecs again, if the major version number matches.

[Bug 1687623] Re: linux-4.4.0-77.98 was a phased update in -updates only and may become partially installed (was: 4.4.0-77-generic breaks internet on 16.04.2)

2017-05-03 Thread Andy Whitcroft
The linux-4.4.0-77.98 was released to -updates only. It appears that
this then lead to it being marked for phased updates. The affected
people appear to have phased linux-signed only and not linux and linux-
meta. This leads to linux-signed-image-4.4.0-77-generic (and its
dependencies) to be installed only. This essentially leaves the user
with half a kernel with many drivers missing. This leads to broken
internet and the like.

We have phased this update fully to avoid this occurring to any other
machines. We have also changed the release process to prevent phased
kernel releases in the future. I am creating an update-manager task as
this needs to be fixed as there are certainly other packages which could
trigger this behaviour.

update-manager should offer a correct fully phased update now once
booted into the previous kernel. Also the "apt-get dist-upgrade"
solution is valid and will resolve the issue.

[Bug 1687901] [NEW] i915 driver makes linux crash

2017-05-03 Thread Alex Garel
Public bug reported:

I recently upgraded from ubuntu 16.10 to 17.04.

Today I got several crash which seems to imply the i915 driver.

I had the crash while using gnome-shell, and also while using unity.

As I work, the system completely crash.

The problem is always in:

/build/linux-
2NWldV/linux-4.10.0/drivers/gpu/drm/i915/intel_display.c:4813
skylake_pfit_enable+0x140/0x160 [i915]

each time I get the message:

[drm:skylake_pfit_enable [i915]] *ERROR* Requesting pfit without getting
a scaler first

I attach the relevant kern.log parts.

Please be so kind and go for a 6G LVM-Vol and do "dd if=/dev/zero

processor usage in comparison to the threads created. Its harder to
knock-down an SSD-Backed system than one with spinners.

[Bug 1687623] Re: 4.4.0-77-generic breaks internet on 16.04.2

2017-05-03 Thread Stefan Bader
In general, it seems that for some reason there was a period of time (on
a different box update-manager would offer me the complete set of
packages) when for some unknown reason update-manager would offer only
the minimal kernel and modules. This causes all sorts of HW related
issues if the driver modules are either in the extra package or (like in
the case of nvidia binary driver) are built on the system after updating
the kernel (but that requires the headers).

For a start, when was the kernel update (for the 4.4.0-77 kernel which
broke things) being offered? Yesterday at some point? And if anyone can
remember, was there any hint shown that this would not be complete (like
partial upgrade)?

[Bug 1687653] Re: QEMU-KVM / detect_zeroes causes KVM to start unlimited number of threads on Guest-Sided High-IO with big Blocksize

2017-05-03 Thread Stefan Hajnoczi
I'm unable to reproduce this issue. The host stays responsive and the
dd command completes in a reasonable amount of time. QEMU does not
exceed the 64-thread pool size.

Please post steps to reproduce the issue using a minimal command-line
without libvirt.

Here is information on my attempt to reproduce the problem:

Guest: Kernel 4.10.8-200.fc25.x86_64

[Bug 1687482] Re: -4 flag doesn't work

2017-05-03 Thread Colin Watson
Thanks for investigating. At minimum, I think sss_ssh_knownhostsproxy
is going to need to provide a -4 flag for it to be possible to make that
work correctly. After that, it might be necessary to either mangle the
configured ProxyCommand by hand or to somehow extend the ProxyCommand
mechanism to support passing through information about the state of the
-4 flag.

(In the short term, it might in fact be less effort to fix whatever IPv6
breakage requires using -4 in the first place ...)

** Package changed: openssh (Ubuntu) => sssd (Ubuntu)

** Changed in: sssd (Ubuntu)
   Status: Incomplete => Triaged

** Summary changed:

- -4 flag doesn't work
+ sss_ssh_knownhostsproxy doesn't allow forcing IPv4

2017-05-03 Thread Mark Shuttleworth
It might be an awkward dependency between snapd and ubuntu-core-launcher
or snap-confine, I would suggest purging those then reinstalling snapd
which will bring in its dependencies cleanly.

[Bug 1687623] Re: 4.4.0-77-generic breaks internet on 16.04.2

2017-05-03 Thread Carlo
Same issue here, no Wi-Fi or ethernet connection working.
No resolution problems, but when I restarted after the update I noticed the
dimension of the Launcher icons was different than usual (it's usually set at
38, after the update it was switched to 48 or something like that).
Getting back to 4.4.0-75 from Grub makes everything go back to normal.
I'd like to help if possible, but I'm a REAL newbie on Ubuntu!

[Bug 1683445] Re: E6430 brightness control not working

2017-05-03 Thread Kai-Heng Feng
nvidia_backlight.c thinks the graphics chip is connected to LVDS, hence
create a backlight interface, 'nv_backlight'.

This can be somehow 'workaround' in userspace tool, but I think it's not
the best way to do it - the backlight interface shouldn't be there if
it's not working at all.

I'll file an upstream bug to ask DRM maintainers how to handle this kind
of situation.
