[Bug 1697474] Re: Map of India is incorrect

2017-06-14 Thread Will Cooke
Internet suggests that all of India is UTC+5:30, and that Jammu and
Kashmir are on India Standard Time.

https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/india/srinagar

So, yes, it appears that the installer is setting the wrong timezone for
India if it's setting it to +5 and not +5:30. I've reached out to some
folk who know more about this and will report back.

[Bug 1697908] [NEW] i386 compilation hang with rocksdb (via ceph)

2017-06-14 Thread James Page
Public bug reported:

Ceph vendors a specific version of rocksdb, which in the Ceph 12.0.3
release results in a compilation hang on artful i386 only for one of the
objects; The same code using the Xenial gcc-5 compiler does not have
the same issue.

To reproduce (in a i386 chroot):

apt install git
git clone https://github.com/facebook/rocksdb

The build task for monitoring/statistics.o will hang until timeouts get

[Bug 1614936] Re: package python3-ldb-dev (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite '/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/pkgconfig/pyldb-util.pc', which is also in package python-ldb-dev 2:

2017-06-14 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Python3-ldb-dev only exists in Xenial - >=Yakkety it got dropped again.
>=Zesty it is a sync again and it never existed in Debian.

This came in via:
ldb (2:1.1.24-1ubuntu3) xenial; urgency=medium
  * Build Python3 bindings.
[...]
 -- Matthias Klose Thu, 18 Feb 2016 18:17:39 +0100

There was no bug linked that explains the reasoning to add one in more Detail.
I followed how this was dropped again.
In zesty it became a sync for the minor fixes being in Debian now.
But the python3 things got dropped in:

ldb (2:1.1.26-1ubuntu3) yakkety; urgency=medium

  * Drop python3 packages again. No reverse dependencies, and

python3-talloc-dev is NBS.

 -- Martin Pitt Wed, 07 Sep 2016 08:43:24 +0200

While python3-talloc-dev exists in Xenial (and only there) it still has no
dependencies at all.
$ reverse-depends --release=xenial python3-ldb-dev
No reverse dependencies found

I'd say we might drop python3-ldb-dev from Xenial as well, but since it
is released it will never fully drop - unsure what to do about that.
Maybe make it an empty package?

Also Doko might have had very specific reasons to add it we just don't know.
So I subscribe him for his general expertise on what to do as well as his
specific expertise on this case and why it was added in the first place.

[Bug 1679898] Re: [Hyper-V] Ubuntu VM crash during Hyper-V backup or live migration after installing kernel 4.4.0-72

2017-06-14 Thread Ian Gordon
I can confirm that 4.4.0-66 does NOT crash and that 4.4.0-67 does indeed
crash with out of memory errors.

I think I should say that I tried doing a VSS backup with 4.4.0-66 5
times and it didn't crash on any of them but it did log worrying
messages (see attachment) which are very similar to what 4.4.0-67 gives.

As far as I can see, according to that first link I gave, the area that
is about to be changed to be a part of India in Ubuntu's installer is
UTC+5.

Are we saying that's wrong?

The legal advice is helpful. Can we find a copy of the definitive map
that we're updating to be in line with?

[Bug 1655182] Re: keystone-manage mapping_engine tester problems

2017-06-14 Thread Frode Nordahl
** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+
+ * A bug in keystone-manage tool prohibits the use of the mapping_engine
+ command for testing federation rules.
+
+ * Users of Keystone Federation will not be able to verify their mapping
+ rules before pushing these to production.
+
+ * Not being able to test rules before pushing to production is a major
+ operational challenge for our users.
+
+ * The proposed upload fixes this by backporting a fix for this issue
+ from upstream stable/ocata.
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+ * Deploy keystone using Juju with this bundle:
+
+ * ssh to keystone unit, grab artifacts and run command:
+- mapping.json: http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/24855419/
+- input.txt: http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/24855420/
+- command:
+'keystone-manage mapping_engine --rules mapping.json --input input.txt'
+
+ * Observe that command provides no output and that a Python Traceback
+ is printed in /var/log/keystone/keystone.log
+
+ * Install the proposed package, repeat the above steps and observe that
+ the command now outputs its interpretation and effect of the rules.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ * keystone-manage mapping_engine is a operational test tool and is
+ solely used by the operator to test their rules.
+
+ * The distributed version of this command in Xenial and Yakkety does
+ currently not work at all.
+
+ * The change will make the command work as our users expect it to.
+
+ [Original bug description]
There are several problems with keystone-manage mapping_engine
-
+
  * It aborts with a backtrace because of wrong number of arguments
- passed to the RuleProcessor
-
+   passed to the RuleProcessor
+
  * The --engine-debug option does not work.
-
+
  * Error messages related to input data are cryptic and inprecise.

[Bug 1667160] Re: Kernel panic when using rtlwifi since 4.8.0-1025 on RasPi 2

2017-06-14 Thread Paolo Pisati
I'm unable to reproduce this bug:

$ lsusb
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 0bda:8179 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL8188EUS 802.11n
Wireless Network Adapter
...

$ uname -a
Linux raspi3 4.8.0-1033-raspi2 #36 SMP Tue Jun 13 11:24:42 UTC 2017 armv7l
armv7l armv7l GNU/Linux

probably due to the slightly different chipset (CUS vs EUS).
Nonetheless, people have mentioned that the latest kernel fixed the panic for
them, can anyone confirm this?

At the moment of this writing, this is the latest Yakkety raspi2 kernel:

linux-image-4.8.0-1038-raspi2

[Bug 1677730] Re: keystone-manage mapping_engine is broken: TypeError

2017-06-14 Thread Frode Nordahl
** Description changed:

- [Impact]
-
- * A bug in keystone-manage tool prohibits the use of the mapping_engine
- command for testing federation rules.
-
- * Users of Keystone Federation will not be able to verify their mapping
- rules before pushing these to production.
-
- * Not being able to test rules before pushing to production is a major
- operational challenge for our users.
-
- * The proposed upload fixes this by backporting a fix for this issue
- from upstream stable/ocata.
-
- [Test Case]
-
- * Deploy keystone using Juju with this bundle:
-
-
- * ssh to keystone unit, grab artifacts and run command:
-- mapping.json: http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/24855419/
-- input.txt: http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/24855420/
-- command:
-'keystone-manage mapping_engine --rules mapping.json --input input.txt'
-
- * Observe that command provides no output and that a Python Traceback
- is printed in /var/log/keystone/keystone.log
-
- * Install the proposed package, repeat the above steps and observe that
- the command now outputs its interpretation and effect of the rules.
-
- [Regression Potential]
-
- * keystone-manage mapping_engine is a operational test tool and is
- solely used by the operator to test their rules.
-
- * The distributed version of this command in Xenial and Yakkety does
- currently not work at all.
-
- * The change will make the command work as our users expect it to.
-
- [Original bug description]

[Bug 1561019] Re: copied cpu flags don't match host cpu

2017-06-14 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Hi everybody,
with this being an issue for so long but nobody than "us" (=canonical STS +
canonical Dev) caring I wonder if we should even switch that on again - since
it is also disabled upstream intentionally as Serge reported.

The question is if users that want/need it can enable it.
So I wonder if the following would enable it again as it should:
via libvirt

qemu64

via cmdline
 qemu -cpu qemu64,+svm

@smb - could you test this on the AMD system when you find some time?
If it works I'd think we could close this bug without changing something.

[Bug 1677730] Re: keystone-manage mapping_engine is broken: TypeError

2017-06-14 Thread Edward Hope-Morley
@fnordahl having just realised that the patch you are backporting is
from another bug I'm afraid I'll have to ask you to stick to our usual
process for submitting SRUs i.e. always use the LP bug that the patch is
actually associated with. Please also ensure that all of the following
are extant in the bug when submit; (a) a link to the upstream stable
branch patch(es) if applicable (b) nominations for Ubuntu releases being
targeted (you can also add the cloud-archive project if you want but we
can take of that) and (c) the SRU template as you have provided here. If
you need to reference this bug for clarity that's fine. Thanks.
