[Bug 1703106] Re: package amavisd-new 1:2.10.1-2ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Yes, an invalid configuration will keep generating an error :) How about you set something like this up: echo myhostname | sudo tee /etc/hostname sudo hostname myhostname echo 127.0.1.1 myhostname.homenet myhostname | tee -a /etc/hosts After that, the "hostname" command should return "myhostname", and "hostname -f" (the important one for this case) should return "myhostname.homenet". How are you using amavisd without an smtp server? Or is it in another machine? [Bug 1701344] Re: virt-manager fails to delete /var/lib/libvirt/qemu/nvram/VMName_VARS.fd after installation is cancelled.
My pleasure. Here's what I tried: Part 1: - Create a VM with the wrong firmware. Try to start it (fails). Abort using the Cancel button. - Verify that /var/lib/libvirt/qemu/nvram/TEST123_VARS.fd exists. - Run virsh: $ virsh undefine --nvram TEST123 error: failed to get domain 'TEST123' error: Domain not found: no domain with matching name 'TEST123' So the cancel does remove the domain. Move on to part 2. Part 2: Looking for ways to "abort it hard" in the GUI: Once the VM has started with the wrong firmware there are three ways out of the customize hardware window: 1. Begin Installation: Fails and takes you back where you started. 2. Cancel Installation: Causes the problem reported. 3. Swatting the window with the "X": Same as #2 So at this point it looks like there's no way to abort the leak of the firmware file. So, I checked for a denial by AppArmor: $ dmesg -T | tail -n 5 [Tue Jul 11 10:40:18 2017] audit: type=1400 audit(1499794771.816:77): apparmor="STATUS" operation="profile_replace" profile="unconfined" name="libvirt-239ba97a-d01b-4127-916c-0f07d7c66e0a" pid=2242 comm="apparmor_parser" [Tue Jul 11 10:40:18 2017] audit: type=1400 audit(1499794771.844:78): apparmor="STATUS" operation="profile_replace" profile="unconfined" name="libvirt-239ba97a-d01b-4127-916c-0f07d7c66e0a//qemu_bridge_helper" pid=2242 comm="apparmor_parser" [Tue Jul 11 10:40:18 2017] br0: port 2(vnet0) entered disabled state [Tue Jul 11 10:40:18 2017] device vnet0 left promiscuous mode [Tue Jul 11 10:40:18 2017] br0: port 2(vnet0) entered disabled state Those are not denials. They look like what happens when you create a VM, but I'm not certain. Next, I checked if using virsh from the command line leaks the NVRAM file: 1. Create a VM, customize it to use UEFI with the correct arch. 2. Start the installer and force-off the VM. 3. Check for deletion: # ls /var/lib/libvirt/qemu/nvram/ TEST1234_VARS.fd # virsh undefine --nvram TEST1234 Domain TEST1234 has been undefined # ls /var/lib/libvirt/qemu/nvram/ TEST1234_VARS.fd virsh does not delete the file. So it's conclusively an issue with both the command line and the GUI. So looking at the code you provided I went to find the corresponding XML and I found this fragment: hvm /usr/share/OVMF/OVMF_CODE.fd I've never used XML in Python, so I can't be certain, but it seems like this line: if (self.get_xmlobj().os.loader_ro is True and Should look like this: if (self.get_xmlobj().os.loader_readonly is True and The second line matches the XML attribute exactly. Hope this helps! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1701344 Title: virt-manager fails to delete /var/lib/libvirt/qemu/nvram/VMName_VARS.fd after installation is cancelled. [Bug 1703663] [NEW] ISST-LTE: Briggs:Stratton:UbuntuKVM: ics_opal_set_affinity on host kernel log using Intel X710 (i40e driver)
Public bug reported: We have an issue with the i40e driver, present in kernels pre-4.8, like Xenial v4.4 (from Ubuntu 16.04.1). i40e driver has an issue in interrupt vector assignment in case of sparse CPU masks, like when some CPUs are disabled. The driver does a linear mapping not taking gaps on cpumask into account. This is a problem in systems with multiple logical CPUs per core (like in SMT scenarios). If we disable some logical CPUs, by turning SMT off for example, we will end up with a sparse cpu_online_mask, i.e., only the first CPU in a core is online, and the incremental/linear filling in the interrupt cpumask might lead to multiple offline CPUs being assigned to the struct q_vector in the driver, leading to issues when interrupts are requested, like the following message in PowerPC systems: [141.97] ics_opal_set_affinity: No online cpus in the mask 0020,,, for irq 302 This message is output of interrupt controller in Power systems, a complain that the cpumask does not make sense to that particular system. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Ubuntu on IBM Power Systems Bug Triage (ubuntu-power-triage) Status: New ** Tags: architecture-ppc64le bugnameltc-145954 severity-high targetmilestone-inin16041 ** Tags added: architecture-ppc64le bugnameltc-145954 severity-high targetmilestone-inin16041 ** Changed in: ubuntu Assignee: (unassigned) => Ubuntu on IBM Power Systems Bug Triage (ubuntu-power-triage) ** Package changed: ubuntu => linux (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1703663 Title: ISST-LTE: Briggs:Stratton:UbuntuKVM: ics_opal_set_affinity on host kernel log using Intel X710 (i40e driver) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1703663/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1703640] Re: nplan and libnss-resolve should be in same dependency
I don't think it is; you should be able to use things just as well with /etc/resolv.conf, and having systemd-networkd (or systemd-resolved) update it, depending on whether this is automatic via DHCP or for a static IP. Regardless, in general I tend to agree libnss-resolve probably should be included at the same level as nplan; this will need some more testing. [Bug 1647199] Re: ELAN touchpad acts as generic mouse after firmware update
Perhaps I've got the same problem but there's something that I don't understand since I don't know much about hardware/driver. Does downgrading linux-firmware through synaptic "force version" solve the problem? Or the upgraded versions wrote something permanent in some I don't know flash EPROM.. ?! My touchpad STOPPED WORKING at all, it is not recognized in linux nor in windows (I've a dual boot). I've downgraded linux-firmware with synaptic from 1.157.11 to 1.157.8 but this didn't solve the problem. The previous installed version 1.157.5 is not in synaptic. [Bug 1703649] [NEW] Traceroute needs net_admin capability for unknown reason
Public bug reported: With help of AppArmor on 17.04 and 17.10 I've discovered that traceroute needs net_admin capabilities. My plan is to update [0] AppArmor profile to fix various DENIED messages in syslog/audit for traceroute, though I am not sure about allowing, or denying, net_admin capability. Looks like traceroute tries to set SO_RCVBUFFORCE and SO_SNDBUFFORCE: setsockopt(4, SOL_SOCKET, SO_RCVBUFFORCE, [8388608], 4) = -1 EPERM (Operation not permitted) setsockopt(4, SOL_SOCKET, SO_RCVBUF, [8388608], 4) = 0 setsockopt(4, SOL_SOCKET, SO_SNDBUFFORCE, [8388608], 4) = -1 EPERM (Operation not permitted) setsockopt(4, SOL_SOCKET, SO_SNDBUF, [8388608], 4) = 0 setsockopt(4, SOL_SOCKET, SO_RCVBUFFORCE, [8388608], 4) = -1 EPERM (Operation not permitted) setsockopt(4, SOL_SOCKET, SO_RCVBUF, [8388608], 4) = 0 setsockopt(4, SOL_SOCKET, SO_SNDBUFFORCE, [8388608], 4) = -1 EPERM (Operation not permitted) setsockopt(4, SOL_SOCKET, SO_SNDBUF, [8388608], 4) = 0 setsockopt(4, SOL_SOCKET, SO_RCVBUFFORCE, [8388608], 4) = -1 EPERM (Operation not permitted) setsockopt(4, SOL_SOCKET, SO_RCVBUF, [8388608], 4) = 0 setsockopt(4, SOL_SOCKET, SO_SNDBUFFORCE, [8388608], 4) = -1 EPERM (Operation not permitted) setsockopt(4, SOL_SOCKET, SO_SNDBUF, [8388608], 4) = 0 setsockopt(4, SOL_SOCKET, SO_RCVBUFFORCE, [8388608], 4) = -1 EPERM (Operation not permitted) setsockopt(4, SOL_SOCKET, SO_RCVBUF, [8388608], 4) = 0 setsockopt(4, SOL_SOCKET, SO_SNDBUFFORCE, [8388608], 4) = -1 EPERM (Operation not permitted) What is interesting, that traceroute developer does not recall changing these values [1]. [Bug 1703640] [NEW] nplan and libnss-resolve should be in same dependency
Public bug reported: I am filing this under nplan because I don't know what better anchor to use. I discovered for systems which I bring up by using debootstrap and then extend that installation to be bootable, I end up with nplan installed but not libnss-resolve.
