[Bug 1704297] [NEW] Parrot Zik headphones stuck in A2DP profile

2017-07-13 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
Public bug reported:

I've got a pair of Parot Zik bluetooth headphones, with inbuilt
microphones and such.

The Sound control panel offers a “Profile” dropdown, with choice of A2DP
and HSP profiles, but selecting the HSP profile (a) doesn't add an input
source to the “Inputs” tab, and (b) doesn't stop the headphones playing
stereo sound, indicating that it hasn't actually been switched to HSP
profile (which is, AFAIK, mono).

[Bug 216847] Re: sshd will not start at boot if ListenAddress is set, because network interface is not yet up

2017-07-13 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
As Seth mentioned in comment #13 likely network-online.target should be the
solution.
@Owlbsidian - could you test and confirm with that as a fix as well?

A related fun quote from the systemd page about it:
"... please just fix your program to be friendly to dynamically changing
network configuration. That way you will make your users happy because things
just start to work, and you will get fewer bug reports ..."

Without that support you can still run into issues if e.g. you have a
manually added interface you depend on (no service target will help you
there). But that in turn would be an upstream feature request more than
anything else.

Anyway, as long as ssh doesn't support that we might want to finally tackle
that issue to at least improve it. Now that systemd has more means to express
"online".
Maybe even by directly fixing it in Debian.

Subscribing server to track and cjwatson for his opinion (actually I see
he is auto-subscribed to the pkg so he will see).

[Bug 1704288] [NEW] Ubuntu 16.04 VPN : DNS information leaking through dnsmasq

2017-07-13 Thread Emmanuel Dupont
Public bug reported:

Hi,
After connecting the VPN

# killall -USR1 dnsmasq

# tail syslog.log
...
Jul 13 02:18:56 tp dnsmasq[1476]: time 1499905136
Jul 13 02:18:56 tp dnsmasq[1476]: cache size 0, 0/0 cache insertions re-used
unexpired cache entries.
Jul 13 02:18:56 tp dnsmasq[1476]: queries forwarded 154, queries answered
locally 1
Jul 13 02:18:56 tp dnsmasq[1476]: queries for authoritative zones 0
Jul 13 02:18:56 tp dnsmasq[1476]: server 198.18.0.1#53: queries sent 0, retried
or failed 0
Jul 13 02:18:56 tp dnsmasq[1476]: server 198.18.0.2#53: queries sent 0, retried
or failed 0
Jul 13 02:18:56 tp dnsmasq[1476]: server 192.168.0.254#53: queries sent 12,
retried or failed 0

The first two name server are provided by the vpn connection.
The last 192.168.0.254 name server is running on my local router and forward
request to my ISP (this is the default name server when VPN is not activated).

When I query the DNS, queries are sent to each name server which makes a
DNS information leaking to my ISP

I validated that by the mean of tcpdump on eth and tun interfaces and
also by using that site: https://www.dnsleaktest.com/

I tried to force the VPN DNS server IPs in the VPN configuration (edit Vpn
connection -> ipv4 - > Automatic Adresses only ..) but the result is the same.

dnsmasq must not have the local DNS present while VPN connection is established.

2017-07-13 Thread James Lu
Hi,

This SRU contains all the changes from the previous one, so it should be
ok to replace the old one.

Regarding verification, is there anyone in the verification team I
should ping to get the process started?

[Bug 1684034] Re: Some Dell and Lenovo systems do not work after BIOS Capsule Update

2017-07-13 Thread Adam Conrad
Hello Zorro, or anyone else affected,

Accepted fwupdate-signed into xenial-proposed. The package will build
now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fwupdate-
signed/1.11.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed.Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1672819] Re: exec'ing a setuid binary from a threaded program sometimes fails to setuid

2017-07-13 Thread Michael Hudson-Doyle
I've verified the fix in the way I suspected I'd have to, with one extra
wrinkle.

1) In a trusty VM, I verified that the C test case from the gist failed. (It
did).
2) I launched a xenial lxd container on the VM and built the Go test case with
version 1.6.2-0ubuntu5~16.04.2 of golang-1.6-go.
3) It did not fail in the lxd container for reasons I couldn't understand but
it did fail when copied out of the container on to the trusty VM (failed 563
times out of 100k)
4) I then installed golang-1.6-go version 1.6.2-0ubuntu5~16.04.3 in the
container and rebuilt the Go test case with the new compiler.
5) This did not fail when run directly on the trusty VM (0 failures out of 100k
runs)

So I'm confident the fix has helped.

As far as I can tell, the delta exists because the new upstream release

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu

to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.

libssl1.0.0:i386 (which I found in the term.log listed as a bad

2017-07-13 Thread Seth Arnold
Jeremy, if you get the prompt back immediately after the dpkg -l | awk
'/^iH/ { print $2 }' command, that means dpkg thinks nothing is half-
installed. This is good news; if you still have problems with:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get -u dist-upgrade

then please paste the results you're getting.

Thanks

[Bug 1704226] Re: Fresh install from flash disk fails (can't read packages)

2017-07-13 Thread James Harkins
Somewhat sheepishly, I have to admit that I didn't read the error
message carefully at first. I think I see the issue now.

The flash disk was not clean when I started. I assumed unetbootin would
wipe the disk or ignore other files. One of the other directories is
named Sources. The Ubuntu Studio installer assumes this includes package
repository info, but it doesn't. So it fails to parse.

It is my error (I think, will try shortly), but the behavior is not
exactly graceful.

- unetbootin could warn that extraneous files could break the installer.

- or the installer could be more rigorous about ignoring directories
that didn't come from the installation package.

Ubuntu will end up needing a Ubuntu-specific patch through 18.04 LTS for

[Bug 1701744] Re: [Hyper-V] Add infiniband support for Azure HPC

2017-07-13 Thread Long Li
Please build the driver as a kernel module package. The package name
should have something that match the hosting cluster ND version.
Currently we have 142 and 144.

For this driver, please build two kernel module packages:
.142.deb and .144.deb (those two packages are
binary identical because ND142 and ND144 use the same infiniband interface)

Then build a master infiniband package, that contains those two
packages. When doing apt install , it copied the
kernel modules packages to /opt/Microsoft

e.g.

apt install

will create the following deb files in /opt/Microsoft

.142.deb
.144.deb

The WALA will figure out which deb package to install based on host
passed ND version.

[Bug 1703266] Re: package openvpn 2.4.0-4ubuntu1.3 failed to install

2017-07-13 Thread Alexander Lasley
This appears to be fixed with the latest version of the plymouth
package. It turns out my system was not entirely up-to-date when I tried
to install network-manager-openvpn-gnome.

For those who make it here from a search engine, you can make the post-install
script complete by finding the pid of 'plymouth --ping' and killing it. The
script will retry a few times but give up eventually. Then you should be able
to get back to a state where you can upgrade the rest of your packages before
retrying this one.

[Bug 1704232] [NEW] Halt doesn't power system down

2017-07-13 Thread Jeff Lane
Public bug reported:

I have a Skylake Core i7 system running up-to-date 16.04.1 (4.4 kernel).

Whenever I issue a halt (either shutdown -h now, or halt) the shutdown
process gets as far as showing the "Target shutdown reached" on the
console, but instead of actually powering the system down, it just sits
there idling.

I have to manually power the system off by holding the power button
down.

What should happen, is that 'shutdown -h now' should actually shut the
OS down and power the computer off without any further intervention.
