[Bug 1705015] Re: bumblebee does not work with XPS 9560

2017-07-19 Thread Wang-Zhou Dai
The problem has been fixed. It is the conflict between TLP and bumblebee
that causes the problem. Although I had included PCI "01:00.00" in tlp's
pci blacklist, tlp still holds the control of nvidia graphic card's
power management.

After I add "pcie_port_pm=off" in kernel options the problem suddenly
disappeared.

Plz set this bug thread as invalid since this is a problem between tlp
and the linux kernel.

[Bug 1610944] Re: GNOME Online Accounts breaks if you log out (until you reboot)

2017-07-19 Thread Chris
My workaround above (calling "goa-daemon --replace" on login) isnt
working all the time, sadly. On occasion, I am ending up with 3 or 4
instances of goa-daemon per user (I guess --replace isnt able to kill
the previous instance?). Multiple instances results in high CPU usage.

I have also seen goa-daemon report that it cannot connect to the
keychain:

"/usr/lib/gnome-online-accounts/goa-daemon --replace
goa-daemon-Message: goa-daemon version 3.24.0 starting

(goa-daemon:18954): GoaBackend-WARNING **: secret_password_lookup_sync()

My pitbull sheepdog cross does the same thing. He is indeed

you maybe haven't noticed other dogs do it before.

My best bud does it every morning with my bed when he crawls off in

[Bug 1692452] Re: [17.10 FEAT] qemu: P9 guest - base enablement

2017-07-19 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Oh and I almost forgot that you might have missed that.
FOr any sort of early test (that I appreciate) you might just want to take the
daily builds of qemu/libvirt as needed.

You can get those from:
https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-virt/+archive/ubuntu/virt-daily-upstream

And while not building sometimes there are packages of e.g. yesterday available.
I'd even recommend take the new libvirt 3.5 from the archive but a qemu from
daily until a newer one for Artful was made available.

P.S. there are still some issues atm with the qemu versions (hopefully soon
solved) but until then you can still use it via the workaround:
apt-get download qemu-kvm=2.9.50-daily-20170718150109
qemu=2.9.50-daily-20170718150109 qemu-system=2.9.50-daily-20170718150109

[Bug 1705391] [NEW] PPP crash after a while, start sending crazy packets

2017-07-19 Thread Simone Lussardi
Public bug reported:

Hey guys, I have a very weird issue here. PPP works fine for 1-5
minutes, then it hangs with CPU usage very high, and I noticed it start
uploading insane (but fake) bytes to the tunnel. To do a simple test, I
started watching a YouTube video, and when the problem started to
happen:

ppp0  Link encap:Point-to-Point Protocol
  inet addr:172.16.99.9  P-t-P:xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx  Mask:255.255.255.255
  UP POINTOPOINT RUNNING NOARP MULTICAST MTU:1400 Metric:1
  RX packets:26586 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
  TX packets:5921622 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
  collisions:0 txqueuelen:3
  RX bytes:35077655 (35.0 MB)  TX bytes:2885396935 (2.8 GB)

Then it crashed, and VPN turned itself off. I tried everything: MTU,
tunnel parameters etc. Please note I am a guy with 20+ years experience
in networking and I own an IT company. This is definitely a BUG of PPP.
It started happening since Ubuntu 16.04, before I never had this issue.

Description:Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS
Release:16.04
PPP:2.4.7-1+2ubuntu1

Cheers,
Simone

It sounds like what we actually want in future is to keep Wayland
enabled by default and gdm3 to just detect the absence of KMS support,
and in that case default to Xorg instead.

Oh it's easy. Try this:

Edit /etc/gdm/custom.conf and uncomment:

#WaylandEnable=false

Unfortunately for the rest of us running GDM with Wayland disabled seems
to remove the Wayland login options.

As discussed in person, if we are going to use a single version and pocket
copy it, we should upload to trusty and then copy forward rather than
uploading to artful and copying backward.

That's expected. It just resolves a race condition that can produce a
spurious interrupt under certain circumstances. It's not necessary for
it to function.

[Bug 1705369] Re: Ubuntu 17.10 boots to black screen when using Nvidia drivers

2017-07-19 Thread Abdulrahman Amri
@Daniel

I tested Option 1 and it worked but I had to add nomodeset to grub because I
was stuck on boot after a message like this
/dev/sda2: clean,  files, ... blocks.
It worked using Nvidia driver 375.66, version 384.47 worked but the graphics
were terrible, I think it was a FPS issue.

Option 2 was tried before and it worked.

[Bug 1705377] [NEW] dh_installman doesn't support paths with space characters

2017-07-19 Thread 林博仁
Public bug reported:

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

I am practicing maint-guide chapter 5 and implemented a manpage after the
template

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
I placed the manpage at "Manual Pages" directory under the source root
directory and added the following line(s) to debian/.manpages:

* Manual Pages/.1

   * What was the outcome of this action?

dh_installman complains of missing "Manual" file:

```
dh_installman
"Manual: No such file or directory at /usr/bin/dh_installman line 131.
debian/rules:19: recipe for target 'binary' failed
```

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

manpage correctly installed either in the following forms in
debian/.manpages:

* Manual Pages/.1
* Manual\ Pages/.1
* "Manual Pages/.1"

Although given we have other reasons to prefer Xorg sessions, simply
forcing GDM to use Xorg and not Wayland would also solve this.

[Bug 1705369] Re: Ubuntu 17.10 boots to black screen when using Nvidia drivers

2017-07-19 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I think the ideal solution is to modify gdm to detect if KMS support is
missing and switch to X11 instead. It should also hide Wayland sessions
when KMS support is missing, and it should hide X11 sessions when Nvidia
KMS mode is enabled (bug 1697882).

[Bug 1705369] Re: Ubuntu 17.10 boots to black screen when using Nvidia drivers

2017-07-19 Thread Daniel van Vugt
This is expected :(

>From what I read (have not tested myself), the Nvidia driver defaults to
disabling KMS support. This means Wayland (and hence GDM now) won't
work.

So there are three possible solutions I can think of:

 * Enable Nvidia KMS support by adding nvidia-drm.modeset=1 to your
kernel command line. This should make Wayland (and hence GDM) work. It's
possibly not the default yet because performance is lower in this
mode(?); or

 * Reinstall lightdm and configure it to re-replace gdm. Then make sure
you choose to log in to "Ubuntu" and not "Ubuntu on Wayland"; or

 * Configure GDM to use Xorg instead (if that's even possible). Then
make sure you choose to log in to "Ubuntu" and not "Ubuntu on Wayland".

[Bug 1705370] [NEW] xdg-xubuntu-templates crashes/freezes system at random intervals.

2017-07-19 Thread Willie Stevenson
Public bug reported:

System will freeze at random time intervals, sometimes 5 minutes since
the computer was turned on, sometimes 3 hours since it was turned on,
sometimes while idle, and sometimes, while in the middle of work. When
the system does freeze, mouse won't move, can't use any keys on the
keyboard, etc,. Only doing a hard reset gets the system back to an
operational state.

Upon returning to the desktop I get the following "Sorry, Ubuntu has
experienced an internal error:"

xdg-xubuntu-templates (part of the xubuntu-default-settings package)

[Bug 1585084] Re: Volume notification keeps popping up constantly (the notify-OSD bubble on top-right corner)

2017-07-19 Thread Daniel van Vugt
The volume notification pops up when the system *thinks* the volume is
changing, or the audio device is changing (per PulseAudio config or just
something un/re-plugged).

I'm not sure, but it might also happen with some earphones/headphones if
your system is trying to interpret volume buttons. If the socket
supports them but is a bad fit for the particular headphones you have
then you might get repeated spurious volume popups.

So generally if you experience this bug you need to do some detective
work and try to find out what of those your system incorrectly thinks is
occurring.

[Bug 1697565] Re: Snaps without icons don't show as installed

2017-07-19 Thread Robert Ancell
@jibel can you re-check that moon-buggy was showing before this update?

There's currently three cases:

1. moon-buggy has a store icon but not an icon in the snap - this is the bug
that was fixed. On my Xenial system I can't see this before the update and I
can afterwards.
2. openscad-plars has neither a store icon or an icon in the snap - this
currently shows with a generic icon in artful but not in xenial (I think there
might be a themeing issue picking the default icon in xenial - being
investigated).
3. pin-town has both a store icon and a snap icon (works in all cases).

Sarah is treated as going before Sara instead of after, and derivative
examples. This is obviously low priority but it bothers me and its conceivable
for this so cause someone (ie a photographer) a considerable problem. A
coworker independently replicated it an hour ago. It affects both folders and
files and isn't case sensitive. Replicated on fully updated Ubuntu Gnome
16.04.2.

[Bug 1548303] Re: Stale references to /lib/udev/rules.d/95-multipath.rules linger

2017-07-19 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package multipath-tools - 0.6.4-5ubuntu1

---
multipath-tools (0.6.4-5ubuntu1) artful; urgency=medium

  * Merge from Debian. (LP: #1548303) Remaining changes:
- d/control:
  - multipath-udeb: add sg3-udeb Depends
- d/rules: Move udev rules to priority 95, because rules that load modules
  should be >90.
- d/multipath-tools.preinst: modprobe dm-multipath; This will make sure
  that multipathd will be able to start.
- Split kpartx initramfs bits into kpartx-boot for dmraid (LP 941874)
  - d/initramfs/kpartx.hook
  - d/kpartx-boot.postinst
  - d/kpartx-boot.postrm
  - d/control: Add kpartx-boot package for dmraid
  - d/rules: Install kpartx initramfs hook
  - d/kpartx.install: install all arch /lib* kpartx udev rules
- patches to multipath source
  - d/p/1000--set-umask-in-multipathd.patch: Set umask in multipathd.
  - d/p/kpartx_more_loopback_fixes.patch: fix loopback mounted
files some more: since we stat() the loopback device node, we can't rely
on S_ISREG() tests to handle this case, and should look at the device
itself instead. (LP 1543430)
  - d/p/enable-find-multipaths.patch: re-enable find_multipaths
by default -- see the removed 'add_find-multipaths.patch' (LP 1463046)
   - multipath initramfs fixes for booting from multipathed devices
  - d/initramfs/hooks: also copy wwids file on the installed system to
ensure all paths come up on boot. (LP 1479929)
  - d/initramfs/hooks: install multipathd and required directories.
  - d/initramfs/hooks: copy dm-mpath-lvm & multipath udev rules to initramfs
  - d/initramfs/hooks: do not copy kpartx rules to initramfs
  - d/initramfs/local-bottom: remember to stop multipathd.
  - d/initramfs/local-premount: wait for udev to settle before the call to
resolve_device() in local_mount_root(), so the by-uuid/ symlinks have a
chance to be updated by the multipath udev rules (LP 1503286).
  - d/initramfs/local-premount: Run multipath with -B so not to assign names
nor change /etc/multipath/bindings during initramfs (LP 1561103)
  - d/rules: install d/initramfs/local-bottom
  - d/rules: install d/initramfs/local-premount
   - Disable -fexceptions on multipath-udeb (LP 1489379): the flag causes
 libchecktur.so to link with libgcc_s.so.1 (even with -static-libgcc),
 which is not available in the installer environment.
 - d/p/disable-fexceptions-udeb.patch: conditionally disable -fexceptions
   with CFLAGS_DISABLE_FEXCEPTIONS.
 - d/rules: set CFLAGS_DISABLE_FEXCEPTIONS to build multipath-udeb.
   - Remove partition device nodes of individual paths (for LVM on multipath)
 on the new multipath-tools with udev property blacklisting (LP 1540401)
 - d/multipath-tools.dm-mpath-lvm.udev: udev rule for that.
 - d/initramfs/init-top: load the dm-multipath module for
   'multipath -c'.
 - d/initramfs/init-top: start multipathd before udev (required by
   'multipath -u' in the udev rules)
 - d/rules: install the udev rule (priority 56: after 55-scsi-sg3_id)
 - d/rules: rename multipath-tools udev to dm-mpath-lvm
 - d/multipath-tools.dm-mpath-lvm.udev: replace 'multipath -c' with
   'multipath -u' which can read udev properties at PROGRAM-rule time
   (when udev properties are not yet written to the udev database).
   - Remove d/initramfs/local-top (redundant with other initramfs scripts):
 - init-top: take over loading modules (dm-multipath and SCSI device
   handlers); move the missing dm-emc there (now scsi-dh-emc;
   see BTS 567014).
 - d/rules: do not install local-top anymore.
 - remove d/initramfs/local-top
- Fixes typo in package description (availibility -> availability)
  (LP 1231182)
- d/control mark transition of file /etc/init.d/multipath-tools-boot
  according to case #9 of https://wiki.debian.org/PackageTransition
- debian/initramfs/local-bottom: wait for the multipathd unix socket
  to close, so to avoid multipathd.socket unit failure. (LP 1682178)
- debian/initramfs/hooks: Add dm-queue-length: users may want to change
  from the default selector and should be able to do so. (LP 1673350)
  * Drop changes (in Debian now):
- d/control: Bump udev dependencies (in Debian)
- debian/initramfs/hooks:
  - Remove old dm-emc module; it hasn't been in kernel since 2.6.27.
- d/tests/kpartx-file-loopback: add an autopkgtest to catch future cases
  where uploads might break kpartx's loopback file handling.
- mark kpartx tests as isolation-machine to avoid issues in e.g. LXD
  autopkgtest environments (LP 1644253)
- d/t/tgtbasedmpaths add Test using tgt and open-iscsi to excercise
  multipath

[Bug 1640978] Re: [SRU] Backport letsencrypt 0.14.1

2017-07-19 Thread Brad Warren
Below is a draft of the instructions for how to run integration tests on
the proposed Certbot packages. Two comments about this script:

1. I'm not sure if there's a better way to get the Ubuntu codename or how
reliable the method I'm using is.
2. I don't know if the way I'm installing the proposed packages will work
because I don't know what will happen when apt tries to resolve
python-certbot-apache's dependencies.

Please feel free to make/suggest edits if anyone knows how to make these
areas work (more robustly).

== Running integration tests ==

Integration tests should be run on the proposed updates for each
modified Ubuntu release. You can do this using the script below in a
virtual machine for the release of Ubuntu you would like to test.

[Bug 1357880] Re: /etc/logcheck/ignore.d.server/dhclient needs updated regex

2017-07-19 Thread Joshua Powers
** Description changed:

+ == Begin SRU Template ==
+ [Impact]
+
+ * logcheck produces noisy logs with output that should instead be
+ filtered due to a change in the way dhclient reports offers.
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+  * uvt-simplestreams-libvirt sync release=xenial arch=amd64
+  * uvt-kvm create xenial
+  * uvt-kvm ssh xenial --insecure
+  * sudo apt install logcheck -y
+ * # Determine interface name (ens3 in this example)
+  * ip a
+ * # Force dhclient, run a couple times for more output
+  * sudo rm /var/lib/dhcp/dhclient*leases; sudo dhclient ens3
+ * # Check logcheck output for dhclient output
+  * sudo -u logcheck logcheck -o
+
+ If not fixed, there will be DHCPDISCOVER, DHCPREQUEST, DHCPOFFER,
+ DHCPPACK messages that should have been filtered. When correctly working
+ there will be no messages from dhclient.
+
+ Also note that if there is a failure in DHCP there will be error
+ messages and these should be there!
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ * Users currently experiencing this issue would be expecting an SRU fix to
come from us as the application is broken.
+ * The only work around it would require editing the dhclient ignore rules by
hand. If an end user had already done these same changes, then those changes
would be written over.
+ * If the end user did have custom rules they would be over written as well.
+
+ [Other Info]
+
  The regex on line 12 in /etc/logcheck/ignore.d.server/dhclient needs
  updating since it does not match the current output from dhclient

  The current line (12) as included in version 1.3.16 of logcheck-database
looks like this:
  ^\w{3} [ :0-9]{11} [._[:alnum:]-]+ dhclient(-2.2.x)?: DHCP(REQUEST|RELEASE)
(of [.0-9]{7,15} )?on [[:alnum:].-]+ to [.0-9]{7,15} port 67$

[Bug 1705066] Re: Deluge crash with 'exceptions.UnicodeDecodeError' if python-rencode is installed

2017-07-19 Thread Cas
We ship a python-only version of rencode with Deluge so the rencode
cython version must have an issue.

You might be able to force remove python-rencode using dpkg after
installing Deluge 2.0, hopefully making it usable again...

This will need reporting upstream to: https://github.com/aresch/rencode

I'm a full time student at the moment. This last quarter I had a lot
of files on google drive and the website my school used for
grades/professor communication and assignments. So I'd like something
like a tablet to be able to organize all that stuff on while being able
to make stuff like power points or record lectures. I use a google
calender that I update frequently so having a tablet would help
instead of the much smaller screen on my LG G2 phone.

I don't draw a lot, never have done it on a tablet before but I suppose I could
give it a shot. /u/anon2lol could show me the stuff he does.

As for gaming, I wouldn't really care much since I have this rig for
it at the moment. I'd rather just netflix or whatever.
