You're right, this is a video of the lock screen. I thought both login

mention my lock screen is provided by the shell, would it be better to
file this bug with the Cinnamon project instead?

[Bug 1716818] Re: Remove obsolete versioned dependency on initramfs-tools

2017-09-12 Thread Steve Langasek
** Description changed:

  [SRU Justification]
  In xenial and earlier, mdadm declares a versioned dependency on
initramfs-tools. This was an Ubuntu-specific dependency only needed for
upgrades, and the version referenced is ancient (ca. 2008). In zesty and
later, the dependency has been removed.

  Since this is no longer relevant for upgrades and we would not otherwise
  have a dependency on initramfs-tools, we should drop this dependency to
  support building of images with initramfs-tools removed for systems that
  we know don't require an initramfs.

  [Test case]
  1. On a xenial default cloud image install, try to run 'sudo apt purge

  6. Verify that mdadm is not removed.
+ 7. Run 'sudo apt install --reinstall mdadm' and confirm that the package can
be installed successfully without initramfs-tools installed.

not it's on RAID), and mdadm is the only package on their system which depends
on initramfs-tools, it is possible that the user may remove initramfs-tools and

There can a real possibility of having a memory less numa node as a
valid config of system provided the system does not have full
config(maximum memory possible for that system), which can cause these
functional issues that can be resolved by having this fix.

More over host numa node config affecting guest functional is
unacceptable, so it is good to have this fix applied, Thanks.

[Bug 1715597] Re: Please sync psi-plus 1.2.40-1 (universe) from Debian testing (main)

2017-09-12 Thread Simon Quigley
Given that this is about a 200,000 line diff and it's a major version
bump, is there any reason that this needs to be in Artful, or can it
wait a month to go in b-cycle?

[Bug 1716117] Re: pupnp-1.8 1.8.1 should not be released with artful

2017-09-12 Thread Simon Quigley
This bug was fixed in the package pupnp-1.8 - 1:1.8.2-2

---
pupnp-1.8 (1:1.8.2-2) unstable; urgency=medium

  * debian/control:
- Add Conflicts/Replaces to libupnp1.8-dev on old -dev package. These
  packages should not be installed together.

 -- James Cowgill   Tue, 29 Aug 2017 15:15:21 +0100

pupnp-1.8 (1:1.8.2-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * New upstream release.
- Upstream has reverted the library rename so the 1.8 library is once
  again called "libupnp" (instead of "libupnp-1.8"). Therefore rename all
  the Debian packages to follow upstream.

  * debian/clean:
- Remove build/inc directory on clean.
  * debian/control:
- Rename libupnp-1.8-{dev,doc} to libupnp1.8-{dev,doc}.
- Rename lib{ixml,upnp}-1.8-10 to lib{ixml,upnp}10.
- Add Conflicts on libupnp1.8-dev to libupnp6-dev.
- Remove obsolete replaces in the doc package.
- Bump standards version to 4.0.1.
  * debian/copyright:
- Use https Format URL.
  * debian/libupnp10.symbols:
- Add new UpnpSetEventQueueLimits symbol in 1.8.2.
  * debian/patches:
- Refresh
  * debian/rules:
- Simplify dh_install override in d/rules.
  * debian/tests:
- Edit autopkgtests to use -lupnp.

2017-09-12 Thread Keera Studios
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

  I just upgraded my 16.04 to 17.04.

  Suspension does not work too well. Most of the times the computer does
  not wake up from suspension (closing the lid).

  I tried both opening the lid and pressing the power key on the keyboard
  to see if it would wake up, but I get nothing. No key press or mouse
  movement brings it back on. There is a subtle noise that suggests that
  the computer "tries" to turn back on, but the apple light on the back of
  the screen remains off.

  This was not as bad on 16.04 (I used to get a black screen, but still be
  able to type in my password and increase the screen brightness).

[Bug 1716429] Re: pykerberos for trusty does not include CVE-2015-3206 fix

2017-09-12 Thread Simon Quigley
Hello Mathieu,

Two things about your debdiff that I would suggest before this is uploaded:
 1. Please set the priority to medium in the changelog to match the CVE
priority, and I'm not sure the references to the other releases are needed,
this can be dealt with in the DEP-3 header (see below).
 2. Adding a DEP-3 header helps parse your patch in a machine-readable format,
please update your patch to use it: http://dep.debian.net/deps/dep3/

Lastly, in order to properly do the triaging on the tracker[1], could
you please tell us if Zesty and Artful are applicable, or if it is fixed
in Xenial and on, and also which upstream release it was fixed in?

After the above is taken care of, it should be good to upload, unless
anyone else has feedback. Thank you for your contribution to Ubuntu and
your willingness to get this fixed!

2017-09-12 Thread Simon Quigley
** Also affects: cryptkeeper (Ubuntu Trusty)
   Importance: Undecided
   Status: New

** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+
+ An uninitialized variable makes cryptkeeper randomly crash on start
+ in Trusty.
+
+ The fix for it had been applied in newer releases (see bug 1420812),
+ starting from Vivid. Would be nice to apply it in Trusty as well.
+
+ The debdiff which is attached to this report contains the fix.
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+ Since it's a random crash, it may take several attempts to reproduce
+ it. So just run cryptkeeper a few times from the terminal. It should
+ crash right on start if it hits some random value in uninitialized
+ variable.
+
+ [Regression Potential]

+ None. It had been confirmed that the patched version of cryptkeeper
+ doesn't crash on start anymore (reported by Xenial users for example).

[Bug 1716819] [NEW] Ubuntu 17.04 does not wake up from suspension on MacBook Air 7, 2

2017-09-12 Thread Keera Studios
Public bug reported:

I just upgraded my 16.04 to 17.04.

Suspension does not work too well. Most of the times the computer does
not wake up from suspension (closing the lid).

I tried both opening the lid and pressing the power key on the keyboard
to see if it would wake up, but I get nothing. No key press or mouse
movement brings it back on. There is a subtle noise that suggests that
the computer "tries" to turn back on, but the apple light on the back of
the screen remains off.

This was not as bad on 16.04 (I used to get a black screen, but still be
able to type in my password and increase the screen brightness).

Hi Breno,

libservicelog test cases are for development purpose, not for validating
installed libservicelog package on distro.

Hence I don't think , we need to push this changes to distros.

But will fix this in upstream libservicelog.

@Vasant: Do you agree on this ?

[Bug 1716818] [NEW] Remove obsolete versioned dependency on initramfs-tools

2017-09-12 Thread Steve Langasek
Public bug reported:

[SRU Justification]
In xenial and earlier, mdadm declares a versioned dependency on
initramfs-tools. This was an Ubuntu-specific dependency only needed for
upgrades, and the version referenced is ancient (ca. 2008). In zesty and
later, the dependency has been removed.

Since this is no longer relevant for upgrades and we would not otherwise
have a dependency on initramfs-tools, we should drop this dependency to
support building of images with initramfs-tools removed for systems that
we know don't require an initramfs.

[Test case]
1. On a xenial default cloud image install, try to run 'sudo apt purge
initramfs-tools'.
2. Verify that this tries to remove mdadm.
3. Cancel the removal.
4. Install mdadm from xenial-proposed.
5. Run 'sudo apt purge initramfs-tools' again.
6. Verify that mdadm is not removed.

[Regression Potential]
If a user needs an initramfs in order to mount their root device (whether or
not it's on RAID), and mdadm is the only package on their system which depends
on initramfs-tools, it is possible that the user may remove initramfs-tools and
render their system unbootable.

This is unlikely because initramfs-tools is still part of the 'minimal'
seed and is therefore a dependency of ubuntu-minimal; and it remains a
dependency of the generic kernel image.

So long as initramfs-tools is installed, mdadm's initramfs hooks will
continue to function as intended when required.

[Bug 1591167] Re: Bluetooth: hci0 link tx timeout with Intel Corporation Wireless 7260

2017-09-12 Thread Artur Bodera
I'm getting the same error messages but also silent failures.

Having Bluetooth scan enabled it will detect devices correctly for
30-120s, then it will keep discovering fewer and fewer devices to a
point at which it can not see any bluetooth devices anymore. Then, after
some more time it might start reporting "Bluetooth: hci0
*somethingsomething* command failed"

The only workaround is to:
modprobe -r btusb
modprobe btusb

I'm forced to do it every minute or so when it becomes flaky.

[Bug 1716816] [NEW] ISSUES of GLIBC2.26

2017-09-12 Thread DSUZUKI
Public bug reported:

I reported that glibc 2.26-0ubuntu1 ( adopted in Arful-proposed ) causes
compilation error by using NVIDIA's CUDA9.0 or Intel's ICC
Under glibc2.24, they work.

It maybe comes from glibc226's new feature, i.e. "128-bit floating point
as defined by ISO/IEC/IEEE 60559:2011 (IEEE 754-2008) and ISO/IEC TS
18661-3:2015" . (see below, pls)

So, if possible, would like to withdraw from adopting glibc2.26 (and
switch back to glibc2.24)?

Confirmed, but I wonder if this is a dock/shell bug. If that OpenGL
window is actually the video sub-surface then the shell or dock should
ideally recognise it's a child and not list it as an application window.

[Bug 1708102] Re: Enable hardware video decoding by default in mpv

2017-09-12 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks for that.

My focus for the past couple of months has been specifically on VAAPI
for Intel HD graphics. That is stable and performs very well too. Intel
HD graphics is important because that covers the vast majority of our
users.

As an example, with a UHD test video I get CPU usage of:
  hwdec=vaapi  5%
  hwdec=vaapi-copy  40%
  hwdec=no  300%

So yes, vaapi works remarkably well. I have not measured how that
translates to watts but the other benefit of using VAAPI is that videos
previously unplayably slow on many machines (UHD and particularly HEVC)
are now actually playable and smooth.

In order to avoid most of the issues you mention though, I think we
should constrain the default config at install time to just:

  if (only one GPU and it is handled by i915) then install:
hwdec=vaapi
  else
hwdec=no
  endif

I don't want to step on the toes of non-Intel users. However equally I
don't want to diminish the great experience we've achieved for users
with just Intel GPUs.

Anyone remaining who does install mpv and continues to experience problems can
get around them with:
  echo "hwdec=no" > ~/.config/mpv/mpv.conf
I'm happy to monitor the bugs etc and advise people so.

[Bug 1646277] Re: Xenial server 16.04.x will have a black screen after PXE installation

2017-09-12 Thread NancyHsu
Please take a look with #41.
All the upstream kernel (mainline) we have tested (4.9, 4.8, 4.4.40, 4.4.35 and
4.4.44) are fine.
The two Ubuntu kernels 4.4.0-59 (based on upstream 4.4.35) and 4.4.0-64 (based
on upstream 4.4.44) the bug can be reproduced.
Finally we test kernel 4.4.0-20 the bug can also be reproduced.

[Bug 1716415] Re: Alt + Tab then Alt + Right / Left arrow logs me out

2017-09-12 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Because in comment #2 suggested you could not reproduce the problem any
more. Generally if there's a chance that some update has fixed a bug
then the best approach is to set it to incomplete and see if the problem
reoccurs in the following 60 days. That way it closes itself rather than
adding to the backlog.

But if you want it open then no problem.

[Bug 1700822] Re: Doomsday segfaults when attempting to start on Ubuntu 17.04

2017-09-12 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package doomsday - 1.15.8-3ubuntu0.1

---
doomsday (1.15.8-3ubuntu0.1) zesty; urgency=medium

  * Add patches to fix the following issues:
- segfault on startup (Closes: #847651. Fixes LP: #1700822)
- segfault when attempting to start a new game (Closes: #863536)
- make the build reproducible (Closes: #858333)
  * Effectively this adds the same patches as in 1.15.8-5, therefore
the reproducible build patch is included as well to keep the delta
to that version to a minimum.
