[Bug 1722719] [NEW] HID: multitouch: Correct ALPS PTP Stick and Touchpad devices ID
Public bug reported: [Impact] Alps touchpad with ID 0x120A + trackpoint will not be used for mass production machines. Touchpad 0x120A w/o trackpoint still reports it has a trackpoint, this will confuse userspace apps. [Fix] Reverts commit fcaa4a07d2a4b541e91da7a55d8b3331f96d1865, so 0x120A device is no longer a MT_CLS_WIN_8_DUAL device. [Bug 1575053] Re: Please move snap user data from "$HOME/snap" to "$HOME/.snap" (or to "$HOME/.local/share/snap" in accordance with the XDG spec)
Hello, snapd developer here. I just want to clarify what is going on. Changing this in the source code is possible but not very easy as the value is spelled out in a very peculiar way in the apparmor profile for snap-confine and all the snaps. We will eventually get there bug we need to implement the epoch system first so that we can ensure that users who migrate to ~/.snap (or whatever else the path is) won't be able to go back to a version of snapd that doesn't understand this. [Bug 1722708] [NEW] Crash when setting laptop display resolution
Public bug reported: This system has a 4k laptop screen with resolution 3840x2160, and an external HP monitor connected via HDMI, resolution 1920x1200. Windows, fonts etc are not scaled properly on the external monitor (too large, etc), and the only workaround I've found with earlier versions and other distros is to set the laptop display to 1920x1080 mode, so that's what I'm trying here as well. However, when doing that, the X (wayland, not sure if the package is correct here) session crashes and brings me back to login screen. So to summarize: connect the external monitor, go to Settings > Devices > Displays, click primary built in display, observe that it shows Resolution 3840x2160 (16:9) and Scale 200%, change resolution to 1920x1080 (16:9), click Apply --> crash. [Bug 1662031] Re: Switching language and format broken
See conversation on the upstream bug report. It turns out calling set_up_session_language() earlier (e.g. in on_setup_complete_cb) doesn't fix the problem: gdm_session_start_session() calls send_environment(), which overrides the environment set up by pam with the values from /etc/default/locale again. [Bug 1722639] Re: no virtual consoles with hybrid graphics laptop (Intel + Nvidia/Optimus) during and after installation of Artful
I'm really not sure how to file a bug against Artful (17.10) rather the current stable version. I only found that I could add the "artful" tag to this bug report. Please is there any way to specify which Ubuntu version the bug is files against? Many thanks ** Description changed: Hi, I'm trying to install Ubuntu 17.10 on a Dell Latitude E6520 laptop from 2011 which sports a hybrid graphic system (Optimus technology) with integrated Intel HD 3000 graphics and an Nvidia NVS 4200M Quadro discrete card (I would never buy a new laptop with an Nvidia card again!). Public bug reported: Bug appears in linux-image-4.11.x kernels on 16.04.3. 4.8.x and 4.10.x are okay. [Bug 1047362] Re: Allow specifying an existing ovpn file instead of using the GUI for options
VPN Providers are using OVPN files more often because you can bundle the certificates and configuration into one file making them more relevant. Last time I checked, the Import feature simply extracted supported values and loaded them into the application? The problem with that approach is OpenVPN is developed faster than network-manager-openvpn which means if network-m anager-openvpn lags behind in supporting OpenVPN parameters, you're still left in a situation where you simply can't use it. By simply specifying a OVPN file which is then just directly passed to OpenVPN as an argument without the same sort of processing, you can bypass this problem and enjoy the benefits of the UI and integration network-manager-openvpn brings. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1047362 Title: Allow specifying an existing ovpn file instead of using the GUI for options To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager-openvpn/+bug/1047362/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1722615] Re: zuluCrypt doesn't launch
Thanks a million for the prompt and thorough response! I'm really newb, so with that in mind, I came up with 3 different possible ways I can solve this: 1. Can you give me a stupid-simple complete example of mounting and unmounting a file from cli with a password? The examples I can find are insufficient. Here's my attempt at usingg the most specific example I found, from another website, where I'm assuming the file I wanna open is /home/USERNAME/filename, and my password is Password: sudo zuluCrypt-cli -o -d /home/USERNAME/filename -m sdc1 -e ro -p Password This runs into all kinds of errors, and the documentation is way over newb level, and none of the examples are actual examples -- like is XXX password, or a key file, or some other thing? I just need to move from browsing for the file and entering a password in the gui, to doing the same with all default settings to mount the same file with the same password in the cli. 2. How long approximately should we expect to wait for Ubuntu 17.10 Wayland-compatible package? 3. How do I build the git version of zC from source code? I have git installed, but again, am total newb. For example, I tried to build gnome-usage from git with tutorials, with both Builder and ninja-build or something like that, but ran into un-Google-fixable problems both ways. Sadly, I haven't built gnome-usage to enjoy the main feature that was promised in GNOME 3.26. I'd need a really newb-friendly or Google- help-able tutorial to build this from git. The upside is, lots of other users will be going to 17.10 and could follow the same tutorial. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1722615 Title: zuluCrypt doesn't launch To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xrandr/+bug/1722615/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1722041] Re: No Ubuntu wayland option when swiching user with automatic login
I discovered recently that one way to make the Wayland login options vanish is to have any bug in the mutter eglnative backend that triggers an assertion. gnome-shell doesn't treat this as fatal, but it does remove Wayland options from the list of login sessions in that case. So this assertion from your log might be relevant: loka 08 10:50:57 username-System-Product-Name gnome-shell[2848]: setup_framebuffers: assertion 'width > 0' failed Or it might be one of the other gnome-shell assertions in your log. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1722041 Title: No Ubuntu wayland option when swiching user with automatic login To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/+bug/1722041/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a ".crash" file. [Bug 1721839] Re: Services asked for by UDEV do not get triggered
It seems that with a 70-printers.rules as follows at least a correct service name is generated -- # Low-level USB device add trigger ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ENV{DEVTYPE}=="usb_device", ENV{ID_USB_INTERFACES}=="*:0701??:*", TAG+="udev-configure-printer", TAG+="systemd", PROGRAM="/bin/systemd-escape --template=udev-configure-printer@.service %p", ENV{SYSTEMD_WANTS}+="'%c'" # Low-level USB device remove trigger ACTION=="remove", SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ENV{DEVTYPE}=="usb_device", ENV{ID_USB_INTERFACES}=="*:0701*:*", RUN+="udev-configure-printer remove %p" -- Note that in the first rule the systemd-escape command has NO "-p" option and that the %c for ENV{SYSTEMD_WANTS} has extra single quotes. Compared to the original file only these single quotes got added. After restarting UDEV with sudo udevadm control --reload and re-plugging the printer in most cases the service does not get started. systemctl status 'udev-configure-printer@-devices- pci:00-:00:14.0-usb2-2\x2d2.service' > status.txt gives something like -- ● udev-configure-printer@devices-pci:00-:00:14.0-usb2-2\x2d2.service - Automatic USB/Bluetooth printer setup (devices-pci:00-:00:14.0-usb2-2\x2d2) Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/udev-configure-printer@.service; static; vendor preset: enabled) Active: inactive (dead) -- In such a case one can start the service manually with sudo systemctl start 'udev-configure-printer@-devices- pci:00-:00:14.0-usb2-2\x2d2.service' and this starts correctly udev-configure printer which sets up the printer (and starts ippusbxd if needed). In some very few cases the service actually gets correctly started (and the printer set up) when one plugs the printer, but this happens rarely (can there be some kind of race condition?). So this only rarely happening automatic start of the printer setup service is now the problem. The escaping seems to be fixed by the extra single quotes. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1721839 Title: Services asked for by UDEV do not get triggered To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1721839/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1722688] [NEW] GNOME desktop isn't a desktop.
Public bug reported: In the major DE, windows & mac, the desktop is a desktop. It has files on it. If you click on the desktop, focus goes to it, and ctrl+n will open a new file browsing window (Mac Finder or Windows Explorer) and ctrl+shift+n will create a new folder. If you right-click on the desktop, you should be able to create a new folder, properties, restore missing files, open in Terminal, etc. It's supposed to be part of the desktop environment. However, in GNOME, the desktop doesn't feel like a desktop. It's theoretically the directory /home/USERNAME/Desktop, but in GNOME I can't start manipulating Files (Nautilus) by focusing on the desktop with a click nor an alt-tab. ** Affects: nvidia-prime (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: gnome-17.10 gnome3 nautilus -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1722688 Title: GNOME desktop isn't a desktop. [Bug 1722689] [NEW] Cannot partition with LVM enabled during install on 10GB disk
Public bug reported: When installing ubuntu 17.10 beta 2, from the desktop ISO, on virtualbox with a 10GB disk and 8GB memory: * select 'erase disk' during install * check LVM checkbox * click next The installer will now prompt that the root partition is too small, because it allocated about 7GB for the swap partition, not leaving enough for the root partition. Clicking back from here drops you in the partition editor, however there appears to be no way to resize or delete any of the LVM partitions. At this point, all one can do to install is to go back to the screen with the erase disk/lvm options, uncheck lvm, and then it will create a single root partition that fills the whole disk so that the installer can continue. ** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1722689 Title: Cannot partition with LVM enabled during install on 10GB disk To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1722689/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 520546] Re: Alt-f2 switches to virtual terminal 2
Sorry, I forgot to mention that I'm on Ubuntu Gnome 17.04 64 bit, and also had the issue on 16.10. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/520546 Title: Alt-f2 switches to virtual terminal 2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/console-cyrillic/+bug/520546/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 520546] Re: Alt-f2 switches to virtual terminal 2
I seem to have almost exactly the same bug, and it's been bothering me off and on for many months now. The step to reproduce in the latest comment here from @anders works for me. (I only checked 'sudo setupcon --force') The only differences that I have is that 1) Alt + F2 doesn't send me to a terminal, but to the GUI (and if I'm already in the GUI then it opens the run dialog as you'd expect) and 2) Ctrl + Alt + F-buttons still work during this bug for me. This is the kind of bug that makes me think twice before recommending Linux to non-technical people (which to me is the most important people to recruit), so I'm really hoping it will get fixed soon. Thank you all very much for your work! Let me know if I can be of any help with any logs or the like.
[Bug 1722677] [NEW] Touch Screen NOT working
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 17.10 Beta 2. Dell Venue 11 pro 7139. Touchscreen does not work after installing OS from live USB. It did not work on USB either. There is zero touchscreen functionality. Workaroud: Must put computer to sleep, and then wake from sleep for touchscreen to work. Please Note: In this edition of 17.10, tilt sensors work perfectly without having to put the computer to sleep (an old bug). I don't see it anywhere in the GUI and > I'm not sure whether /etc/systemd/resolved.conf is the right place. > The really correct way on 17.10 is to stop using ifupdown and stop using resolvconf and stop using libnss-resolve $ upgrade to 17.10 $ sudo netplan ifupdown-migrate $ sudo apt remove --purge ifupdown $ sudo apt remove --purge resolvconf $ sudo apt remove --purge libnss-resolve $ sudo reboot At this point, /etc/resolv.conf will start pointing at a resolved managed stub-resolv.conf file which will automatically pick up and use DHCP provided domains. Further domains configuration can be provided by adjusting /etc/netplan/*.yaml file, or by adjusting systemd-networkd drop-ins, or by adjusting /etc/systemd/resolved.conf. It's best for the search domains to be provided over DHCP instead of hardcoding the config in files on disk. You may also choose to use networks: backend: network-manager in the netplan.yaml file, if you wish to use NetworkManager instead of the networkd as the networking management backend. Search domains specified in resolvconf syntax / directly in the /etc/resolv.conf will not be read/used by resolved stub resolver, and will not be used by libnss-resolve, thus if you wish to keep using resolvconf/ifupdown one will need to provide the search domain to resolved separately. Best way to do that would be via /etc/systemd/resolved.conf. -- Regards, Dimitri. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1714803 Title: Search list in resolv.conf breaks resolving for that domain To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1714803/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
