[Bug 1738560] Re: touch pad stopped working after upgrade to artful 17.10
I just went through the info from apport: wow, do you really collect and publish in the open that much info? It doesn't have passwords, but it potentially has emails, paths, wireless networks IDs, attack vectors etc. And it's irrevertible, I cannot hide that data from the internet bots now. I think that's illegal in Europe, isn't it? You should at least change the text of the ubuntu bot, something like: "the information you provide might contain this and that info and will be published to anyone and for ever, by running the command you accept these terms, blah blah", but I think it's better to actually display that message when running apport. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1738560 Title: touch pad stopped working after upgrade to artful 17.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1738560/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1731733] Re: Docky does not hide in Ubuntu 17.10
Hi, I noticed a detail that might help with debugging this issue. The programs that are obscured with docky are also not recognized as running programs. The icons of these programs are not shown in docky. If there is an icon pinned to dock it always starts a new instance if I click it, because it does not recognize the running instance. For an application that I run from elsewhere it also does not show an icon on docky. For the applications that are recognized and docky icon is shown for them, the hiding works OK. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1731733 Title: Docky does not hide in Ubuntu 17.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/docky/+bug/1731733/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1738593] [NEW] disks should synchronize with fstab
Public bug reported: When gnome-disk-utility formats a disk it assigns a new UUID. UUID is the preferred way to identify disks in fstab. Problem is that gnome-disk-utility does *not* update fstab. As a consequence the system will not boot & newbies will be stumped. (I was for two days). Therefore gnome-disk-utility must check fstab and if appropriate not assign a new UID or update fstab or alert the user to update fstab. [Bug 1716857] Re: gdm3, hybrid nvidia with modeset=1, no external monitors detected
Daniel, yes that one line fixes the bug. It's not a proper fix but a work-around for GDM3. There's something about gdm-xsession being run that's different from LightDM that's not triggering the nvidia modeset drivers to turn detect external monitors and enabling PRIME sync. I discovered the workaround after accidentally doing a sudo startx and noticing that both PRIME sync and my external monitor had been enabled. As this is quite an innocuous fix, would it be possible to upstream this into the Ubuntu GDM3 codebase until the GDM3 maintainers decide that it would be worth their time to actually look at this bug seriously and fix it in their codebase? Otherwise it gets annoying having to patch the systemd service everytime GDM3 gets a point update. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1716857 Title: gdm3, hybrid nvidia with modeset=1, no external monitors detected To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/+bug/1716857/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1733068] Re: Unmounted USB drives wake up on 16.04
Thank you Alan, for providing these valuable info. Actually i noticed the polling by looking at dmesg. I suspected that the errors in my distribution's kernel (4.4.0 in 16.04) were somehow related to a kernel polling process with a default of 10 minutes. I will try to do both things you suggest: try out a 4.14+ kernel and disable the polling, hoping that the first will work. FYI, 14.04 with 3.19 (iirc) doesn't wake up the drives out of the box. Is the polling something that has been added after? Or maybe there is some additional operation performed in the polling that now wakes up the drive (and is hopefully related to the fixed bug you mention). [Bug 1733068] Re: Unmounted USB drives wake up on 16.04
I have no idea which kernel versions Ubuntu uses in its releases, but the recurring Hardware Error bug should be fixed in the 4.14 kernel. At least I think it should -- nobody has reported on whether the fix actually works, so I have no way of knowing. As for the drive spontaneously waking up... You may not be aware of this, but the kernel periodically probes for drive events, even when no user process is accessing the drive. You can control the probe frequency by writing to the /sys/block/sd?/events_poll_msecs file (fill in the ? with the drive letter). -1 means to use the system default probing interval and 0 means to disable polling entirely. Now, I'm not saying that the kernel polling is what is waking up your drive. But it is something you need to know about. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1733068 Title: Unmounted USB drives wake up on 16.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1733068/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1738581] [NEW] apport is leaking environment variables (including passwords!) to public bug reports
*** This bug is a security vulnerability *** Public security bug reported: See the bug report https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/1738564 created with ubuntu-bug. Dez 16 19:11:31 hostname /usr/lib/gdm3/gdm-x-session[9679]: dbus-update-activation-environment: setting MPD_HOST=...@.xxx.org Normally it would be not problem that gdm-x-session write this to the journal, because the journal is not intended to be published on the internet. The attached dpkg log shows that grub was successfully installed on your system in EFI mode. But your bug report claims that your system is not booted in EFI mode, and shows that you are booted into an upstream 'lowlatency' kernel version, not the 4.4.0 kernel that was installed as part of the Xubuntu installation; and that this lowlatency kernel was present on your disk at the time that the install was done, which means you did not reformat the partition that was mounted at /boot as part of the install; and your /boot/efi is also reported to be empty. This is not an actionable bug report given the currently available information. You will need to explain precisely what steps you took that led you to this situation in order for us to determine if there is a bug in Ubuntu. ** Changed in: shim-signed (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1738525 Title: package shim-signed 1.32~16.04.1+0.9+1474479173.6c180c6-1ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/shim-signed/+bug/1738525/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
