[Bug 1730174] Re: [artful] Mouse broken after upgrade from 17.04 to 17.10
I could narrow this bug with a 100% certitude (and confirm it also on Manjaro Linux on the same machine) with using the NVidia 304 proprietary driver. My machine has a NVidia C77 [GeForce 8200] (rev a2) which is unsupported with latest NVidia 340 drivers (the system justs freezes). It used to work perrfectly using NVidia 304 "legacy" driver until upgrading to Ubuntu 17.10, but something must have recently changed in the way Gnome or Xorg handles the mouse and the legacy NVidia driver has probably not been updated, alas. THe bug does *NOT* exist when using the "nouveau" driver. Unfortunately, its doesn't perform as well as the proprietray NVidia did... [Bug 1743296] [NEW] gnome-web-photo causes instability of FireFox
Public bug reported: Ubuntu Mate 16.04.3 LTS Release:16.04 gnome-web-photo (0.10.6-1) After installing gnome-web-photo, Firefox became instable, but only when loading saved HTML files from HD. Loading from internet caused no problem. Loading one or two files (TAB) FF could still manage, but loading more caused hanging of the whole system, CPU overload for even several minutes, sometimes recovering or even complete Linux crash. Sometimes a message appears saying that the script is damaged: "script: chrome://browser/content/tabbrowser.xml:690" Updating from "firefox (56.0+build6-0ubuntu0.16.04.2)" to "57.0.1+build2-0ubuntu0.16.04.1" did not change anything. [Bug 1741807] Re: NVIDIA Spectre attack fixes
Hi, EGL seems to be broken in this update - the same bug as reported here for 384.90-0ubuntu0.16.04.2: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics- drivers-384/+bug/1731968 It was possible to work around the bug in 384.90-0ubuntu0.16.04.2 by downgrading to 384.90-0ubuntu0.16.04.1, as described here: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/47415198/missing-gl-version-from- glewinit-using-egl/47527089#47527089 However with the release of this 384.111 update, 384.90 has been superseded, and so it is no longer possible to use apt to downgrade to 384.90-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 (although it can be done by manually downloading and installing the old driver). [Bug 1743279] Re: QCA6174 stops working on newer kernels after second group rekeying
It's important to notice that this bugs affects any post-4.12 kernel, so it's present in both 16.04.3 HWE and 17.10 versions. ** Description changed: After upgrading to the 4.13 kernel on Ubuntu 16.04.3, I've noticed my WiFi would stop working after every 20 minutes or so. The problem initially seems related to some DNS services crashing because of what happend in browsers and other software that usually rely on DNS but I've noticed I couldn't ping my router and other local devices for which I knew the IP addresses. The connection is still presented as being connected, but it just doesn't work. [Bug 1743058] Re: In multiple apps, the input field "jumps"
As far as I can tell, this is either an 'st' (Shell Toolkit in gnome- shell, also used on the login screen) bug, or an issue with our theming which is patched into gnome-shell. [Bug 1743279] [NEW] QCA6174 stops working on newer kernels after second group rekeying
Public bug reported: After upgrading to the 4.13 kernel on Ubuntu 16.04.3, I've noticed my WiFi would stop working after every 20 minutes or so. The problem initially seems related to some DNS services crashing because of what happend in browsers and other software that usually rely on DNS but I've noticed I couldn't ping my router and other local devices for which I knew the IP addresses. The connection is still presented as being connected, but it just doesn't work. After googling a lot, I came across this question on askubuntu.com https://askubuntu.com/questions/967355/wifi-unstable-after-17-10-update While led me to this bug report on Debian's bug tracker: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=879184 Which led me to this bug in upstream: http://lists.infradead.org/pipermail/ath10k/2017-September/010088.html I've tested the proposed fixes myself and I can confirm they work. What causes the WiFi to stop working is a bug related to the group rekeying routines. Updating the board-2.bin and firmware-6.bin from kvalo's git repository for version RM4.4.1 has worked for me and for other users as well. It seems it only happend in >4.12 kernels, hence why I've only had problems after 4.13 was pushed as the current rolling HWE kernel for 16.04.3. The files were fetched from https://github.com/kvalo/ath10k-firmware as of this date, as of commit 35d8642f452827b955470de4ac997ffe906a6f17, with the following sha256 sums: 8fcc6b96c1895bc227c3caf0bd04b23d0292f8f919e819e4e025e29ef4b44d8e board-2.bin 30fc3db3af9ba9f3b88e523fe39b715826a31738d48ca01a3fad0d14f7e46e20 firmware-6.bin_WLAN.RM.4.4.1-00065-QCARMSWP-1 It seems firmware-6.bin_WLAN.RM.4.4.1-00079-QCARMSWPZ-1 (sha256sum 5554d6aa0de07394938a0094bae725ed24d4ceee3b38c849b4099a496ec50b48) works as well. - Description:Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS Release:16.04 linux-firmware: Instalado: 1.157.14 Candidato: 1.157.14 Tabela de versão: *** 1.157.14 500 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial-updates/main amd64 Packages 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial-updates/main i386 Packages 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial-security/main amd64 Packages 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial-security/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 1.157 500 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/main amd64 Packages 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/main i386 Packages ** Affects: linux-firmware (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: ath10k qca6174 rekeying -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1743279 Title: QCA6174 stops working on newer kernels after second group rekeying To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-firmware/+bug/1743279/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1731768] Re: Random desktop freeze
I've also experienced a similar issue, mouse stops working and requires switch to another console, multiple times running 16.04LTS and later (I'm currently on 17.10). It is a major issue for those afflicted. I've rolled back to NVidia 304.135 and haven't had any mouse/screen issues since. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1731768 Title: Random desktop freeze To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-384/+bug/1731768/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
