[Bug 1743736] Re: In overview, windows from all workspaces are shown for the second display

2018-01-18 Thread Mitar
It seems this one is reporting the issue:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=652580

There are few patches, but it does not like fixed.

So I do not care so much about switcher than the behavior described:

Observed behavior: Actvities overview (got by pressing the logo key),
however, handles the two monitors differently: for the primary monitor,
it exposes only windows on the current workspace, but for the external
monitor, it always shows all windows on all workspaces.

Expected behavior: when
/desktop/gnome/shell/windows/workspaces_only_on_primary is false, both
monitors should behave the same, and both should show only windows on
the current workspace.

[Bug 1702724] Re: Doesn't auto open update-manager as it should

2018-01-18 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
SRU verification for Xenial:
I have reproduced the problem with update-notifier 3.168.5 in xenial-updates
and have verified that the version of update-notifier 3.168.6 in -proposed
fixes the issue.

I've set /apps/update-manager/launch-time to a timestamps in the past (< now -
auto-launch-interval) and tried 2 cases:
- Fresh boot
- Refresh of the packages cache

In both cases update-manager showed up.

I also verified that the notification is not triggered when if should
not (auto-launch-interval is not reached)

Marking as verification-done

Interesting, but also killing parts of my hope/theory :-/
I tried a bit around (I'm not the most UI focussed guy to admit) but
could not reproduce (for me integration worked in the cases I tried).

So for now I unfortunately will keep it open and lacking other actions
to take right now will ask you to retry once I have the new qemu in
(that at least is some plan).

If you have more details that might help tracking the source of the
issue let me know.

recreated the deb packages for the 16.04 LTS.

lets hope a maintainer will fix it..

[Bug 1742505] Re: gre_sys set to default 1472 when using path_mtu > 1500 with ovs 2.8.x

2018-01-18 Thread James Page
Leaving the kernel bug tasks open for now; there is an underlying issue
in the kernel specific to GRE tunnel ports where the MTU passed during
new device creation is not being used; the fixes to OVS workaround this
issue rather than actually resolving it.

** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+ OpenStack Clouds using GRE overlay tunnels with > 1500 MTU's will observe
packet fragmentation/networking issues for traffic in overlay networks.
+
+ [Test Case]
+ Deploy OpenStack Pike (xenial + pike UCA or artful)
+ Create tenant networks using GRE segmentation
+ Boot instances
+ Instance networking will be broken/slow
+
+ gre_sys devices will be set to mtu=1472 on hypervisor hosts.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+ Minimal; the fix to OVS works around an issue for GRE tunnel port setup via
rtnetlink by performing a second request once the gre device is setup to set
the MTU to a high value (65000).
+
+
+ [Original Bug Report]
  Setup:
  Pike neutron 11.0.2-0ubuntu1.1~cloud0
  OVS 2.8.0
  Jumbo frames setttings per:
https://docs.openstack.org/mitaka/networking-guide/config-mtu.html
  global_physnet_mtu = 9000
  path_mtu = 9000

  Symptoms:
  gre_sys MTU is 1472
Instances with MTUs > 1500 fail to communicate across GRE

  Temporary Workaround:
  ifconfig gre_sys MTU 9000
Note: When ovs rebuilds tunnels, such as on a restart, gre_sys MTU is set
back to default 1472.

Note: downgrading from OVS 2.8.0 to 2.6.1 resolves the issue.

  Previous behavior:
With Ocata or Pike and OVS 2.6.x
  gre_sys MTU defaults to 65490
It remains at 65490 through restarts.

This may be related to some combination of the following changes in OVS which
seem to imply MTUs must be set in the ovs database for tunnel interfaces and
patches:

I also can't run the tests this week, so I'll wait anyway.
On review the patch itself seems fine.

It would be nice if for the commit you could add it as link to the upstream
repo.
Also your date unlikely is in 2017 :-)

Trying to run apport-collect I get the error message that I need to install

that it is already the newest version (2.20.4-0ubuntu4.10) but running apport
gets "apport: command not found"!

[Bug 1725078] Re: Can't set Ctrl+Shift as a shortcut

2018-01-18 Thread Kyle Robbertze
This package does not set shortcuts, it simply displays them in a pop-up
window similar to how Unity used to.

Ctrl and Shift are modifier keys and so cannot be used as a keyboard
shortcut combination on their own.

[Bug 1730343] Re: firmware update breaks Ubuntu

2018-01-18 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
The latest upload consists of a very high number of patches which might
quickly get hard to maintain. For the future maybe it would make sense
to backport the whole 9 version to xenial instead of patching just one
component with the code from the 9-codebase.

[Bug 1744001] [NEW] Expanded panel menus don't fade out cleanly on close

2018-01-18 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Public bug reported:

Expanded panel menus don't fade out cleanly on close.

1. Open the panel menu and expand any one of the submenus.
2. Click on the desktop to close the panel menu.

Expected: Menu fades out cleanly like when it wasn't expanded.
Observed: Expanded part of the menu does not fade out cleanly.

I've stumbled on a fix for this so a patch will follow soon.

I've re-tested with the proposed changes upstream; MTU is correctly set
to 65000 for all tunnel types including GRE on 4.4 kernels; the kernel
fix for bug 1743746 is required for support on >= Artful or if the HWE

[Bug 1743998] [NEW] Renewal of the DHCP lease causes an interface down/up event

2018-01-18 Thread Christian Zahl
Public bug reported:

Based on a DHCPACK the client receives it determines a renewal time,
which is 1/2 (+- some randomness) of the lease time provided by the DHCP
server. After this time the client sends a new DHCPREQUEST. In my case
the same DHCP server responds while providing the same IP address (in my
case preconfigured in a customer environment). This one is being
reassigned to the interface, resulting in a short link down / link up
sequence (see syslog below):

[Bug 1743966] Re: Trusty deployments fail when custom archives are configured

2018-01-18 Thread Andres Rodriguez
@Kiko,

I've tested a deployment of trusty and confirm that the deployed system
does end up with the configuration of the custom repository. This is
because the configuration happens by curtin.

However, the difference between trusty and xenial is that the custom
repository is not available in the ephemeral environment, which I'm
guessing its what's affecting you.

As such, can you confirm what customizations you are doing that are
causing the deployment failure ?

[Bug 1743746] Re: 4.13: unable to increase MTU configuration for GRE devices

2018-01-18 Thread James Page
Hi Joseph

I reconfirmed the bug on the current artful kernel, upgraded to your
test kernel and I can confirm that the test kernel resolves the issue:

7: gre_sys@NONE: mtu 65000 qdisc pfifo_fast
master ovs-system state UNKNOWN mode DEFAULT group default qlen 1000
link/ether 3a:14:f5:6d:cd:93 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff

I was able to set the MTU of the gre_sys device to 65000.

[Bug 1644144] Re: Tomcat 8.0.32 has ClassLoader Issues

2018-01-18 Thread Thomas Mortagne
Note: I have several people reported that it works well with
https://launchpad.net/~nacc/+archive/ubuntu/tomcat8v2 so it would be
great to apply it in the default repository :)

[Bug 1711420] Re: Should be popularity-contest package a part of Ubuntu installer media?

2018-01-18 Thread Tehnick
My pessimism about this package in Ubuntu is based not only on the
history of its updates [1] but also on noticeable amount of messages
about its issues in mailing list [2] of Popcon developers which I am
reading since the begining of 2013.

I am glad to see that after my comment from 16 Jan 2018 this package was
finally updated. Let's hope that this is not only one upload and the
package will be in a good shape in the future.

[1] Updates:
* 1.64ubuntu2 -- 26 Feb 2016
* 1.64ubuntu1 -- 29 Oct 2015
* 1.57ubuntu1 -- 07 May 2013
