Great. Thanks for teasing.

I have uploaded it to the ubuntu archive for Bionic. At this point in
Bionic that will sit in a queue for the release team to spot check, so

[Bug 1751584] Re: Ubuntu doesn't boot with 4.13.0 kernels

2018-04-14 Thread KyleH
I have three systems of which two show this problem.

Two systems are ASUS "All-in-One PC ET2230I". One is an ACER All-in-
One PC Aspire C24-760.

All were installed from Ubuntu 16.04.1 and have been updated to the
latest patch sets as of 2018/04/14.

The ASUS systems do not boot with 4.13.0-38. The hang is the same as
above with the last thing showing that the kernel was loading the RAM
disk. The ACER system boots fine with the -38 kernel.

The two kernels I tried on these systems are:

(Working on ASUS)
Linux domiclient2.domistyle.ad 4.13.0-31-generic #34~16.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jan
19 17:11:01 UTC 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

(Working on ACER, but failing on ASUS)
Linux domiclient1.domistyle.ad 4.13.0-38-generic #43~16.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Wed Mar
14 17:48:43 UTC 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I manually selected the -31 kernel and the two ASUS systems boot
correctly. No obvious problems. When I either manually interrupt GRUB
and select the -38 kernel or I allow GRUB to select it, the ASUS systems
hang.

The non-working ASUS systems have older CPUs:

[Bug 1685918] Re: Change font dependency to recommendends

2018-04-14 Thread Simon Quigley
I'm uploading to Bionic for the sake of getting this in the LTS release,
but please forward it to Debian as well.

I'd like an opinion from the SRU Team (and of course the usual SRU bug
description modifications) before sponsoring to Xenial, so I'll
unsubscribe the Sponsors team and subscribe the SRU team.

Thanks.

[Bug 1718554] Re: Need updated libimobiledevice to mount IOS 11 devices

2018-04-14 Thread William F Hammond
EUREKA (maybe) !

This evening I took the iPhone update to iOS 11.3, and just out of curiosity I
decided to check out the iphone as an attached device in the file manager. And
I'm in. I don't know why. I did not use
idevicepair nor ifuse. If I run ideviceinfo, I still get "ERROR: Could not
connect to lockdownd, error code -3".

In the file manager I found that clicking on a thumbnail gave me the
photo.

Messing around in the command line, a call to "df" suggested that I look
at "/run/user/1000".

Going there I found a current datestamp on its subdirectory "gvfs" and within
that a sole item
with robotic name "gphoto2:host=%5Busb%3A004%2C023%5D".

Inside that there is a single directory "DCIM" (less than I used to see
in iOS 10.3), but that has always been the place for photos.

Within DCIM there are subdirectories "100CLOUD" and "100APPLE". I'm not
sure what that's about, but the photos in the first are older and are
all of size 3264x2448. During the time period for the photos in
100CLOUD, I changed to a new phone, but the latest photos in there were
taken on the new phone. In 100APPLE the photos are all of size
4032x3024.

I'm guessing that usb infra-structure invoked some gphoto infra-
structure, and that libimobiledevice is not in the picture, but I don't
know.

And for the moment I'm guessing that Apple has cleaned up its act with
iOS 11.3.

My Ubuntu is 16.04.4 LTS, and I'm running the Mate evolute of classic gnome.
In the Mate GUI connecting the phone to a usb port causes an icon to appear on
my desktop. A right click on that
icon gives me an unmount option that I used before disconnecting the phone.

[Bug 1764047] Re: Unable to switch realm on authentication dialog

2018-04-14 Thread Chris Routh
Seems this is a cross-distribution issue as it is also reported against
Fedora: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1433997

Wanted to make sure it's reported here as it is also an issue for 17.10
- This likely needs to be filed on the upstream repository, however I
cannot find their dev repo.

[Bug 1303649] Re: systemd-logind spins in cgmanager_ping_sync()

I have a mostly vanilla Ubuntu 14.04.5, right now with kernel
3.13.0-145.

I've just tested the new "204-5ubuntu20.28" packages from "-proposed",
and they run fine, with and without the latest "cgmanager". No problems
detected.

Thank you for your support.

[Bug 1746740] Re: XPS13 L322X Bionic (daily dev) touchpad laggy

2018-04-14 Thread seanlano
I've updated my patch to libinput, in
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=104990#c25

Hopefully the devs there will shortly be able to revert the older patch,
apply the new one, and then it will make it's way into Bionic.

[Bug 1495826] Re: hpps crashed with BrokenPipeError in __main__: [Errno 32] Broken pipe

2018-04-14 Thread Dylan Medina
This error seems to be in the /prnt/filters/hpps file. The file handle
output_fd is never opened. The line opens the file (150) is commented
out. The issue is that when the HPPS filter throws an error, it attempts
to write to a non-existant temp file. It could be solved by uncommenting
line 150, or even better, adding some exception handling. See attached
patch.

[Bug 1764042] [NEW] wifi crashes in ubuntu 16.04 lts xenial

2018-04-14 Thread israel oluwole
Public bug reported:

Good day,
I am a new ubuntu user and I've been finding a solution everywhere to this
issue:
I run ubuntu (studio) 16.04 lts, code name: xenial dual booted with windows 8
on Hp notebook 15. When I first installed ubuntu, hotspot from my BlackBerry
q10 connects fine but suddenly it stopped and every time i connect it pops up
the dialog box: wifi authentication required by wifi network and expects me to
retype a password that is already correct!
I have tried reinstalling network manager, adding [device] wifi-rand*... to
network*.conf and so on and rebooted over and again. Nothing has changed yet.
The same applies to my bluetooth too (it was okay suddenly it changed)

I need help quick, I need my pc for an imminent exam. Thank you

2018-04-14 Thread Dave Harton
Public bug reported:

Using Cinnamon on 18.04 Beta 2. (Description: Ubuntu Bionic Beaver
(development branch) Release: 18.04)

Touchpad not detected. Was also not detected in 17.10 but I thought that
this was a Wayland problem, but obviously not...

[Bug 1761790] Re: bottom panel sticks or takes a while to load when starting ubuntu

2018-04-14 Thread Rolf Leggewie
Not a bug in Ubuntu. Marking as invalid.

Don't install random packages off the internet, it's a really stupid and
dangerous thing to do. And definitely don't come running to report a
problem in Ubuntu afterwards when you managed to screw up your system
because of it.

[Bug 1764031] [NEW] Switching panel layouts using "Welcome" is buggy

2018-04-14 Thread Gabriel
Public bug reported:

When setting it to "Familiar", I get no panels.

When setting it to "Cupertino", I get errors loading applets with no
name.

Other layouts have similar issues.

Sometimes, it creates a duplicate instance after changing it.

Setting it to "Mutiny" does work.

Changing it MATE Tweak works completely fine.

[Bug 1575241] Re: package kodi (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite '/usr/share/xsessions/kodi.desktop', which is also in package kodi-data 15.2+dfsg1-3ubuntu1

2018-04-14 Thread Rolf Leggewie
Looked like one of the few genuine package conflict bug reports against
kodi in launchpad at first, but in the end it unsurprisingly turns out
to be more of the same as evidenced by DpkgTerminalLog.txt. It's not a
bug in Ubuntu. Marking as invalid.

Don't install random packages off the internet, it's a really stupid and
dangerous thing to do. And definitely don't come running to report a
problem in Ubuntu afterwards when you managed to screw up your system
because of it.

[Bug 1712324] Re: New release 17.4

2018-04-14 Thread Rolf Leggewie
17.6 is in bionic now. Generally, these kind of reports of new upstream
versions being available are generally not very helpful. The devs in
Ubuntu and Debian do follow the going-ons upstream on their own without
these kinds of reports. We appreciate your desire to make Ubuntu
better, but these reports are mostly noise.
