[Bug 1765897] [NEW] vertical graphic lines glitch (on secondary top monitor)
Public bug reported: -- BACKGROUND info -- (ie. skip!) I upgraded to 18.04 last night from 17.10 (Ubuntu with GNOME, but also XFCE & MATE DEsktops were installed). I logged in last night & noticed nothing unusual (slow login, crash & apport bug report made [duplicate]). Otherwise upgrade was perfect. Last night I only used MATE. -- END background Today I logged into GNOME (first login since upgrade), my screen config was changed (as if side-by-side) so I altered to match my config - and now on top (secondary) screen left side of screen I get this few pixel wide graphic 'bar' type glitch. It alters with screen-draws; having minimal movement is nothing on screen is drawing. If you move mouse it jumps more, if you move windows the movement is even more - when I start music (audacious) which has a graphic audio metre (dancing with music) I get lots of activity on the glitch-bar. If I move audacious below (top) screen it still acts as if on screen (my screen placement i think is reason for this), but if I minimize the window the glitch has minimal movement, likewise if I move audacious to lower (primary) screen and move the bar off display. As stated, the vertical-graphic-lines-glitch appears to be related to movement or redrawing of stuff on screen. If I stop music and have ~everything static but type into the `hexchat` screen on the bottom, the vertical-graphic-lines-glitch jumps on each keypress (or its being written to screen). If i hit random keys quickly the jumping movement is faster than slow keypresses If I make no movements, glitch still has movement; maybe 2-4 moves per second., but a fraction of the 'jumps' (or movement) of when there is graphic movement. OF NOTE: As I type this into chromium, the 'glitch' is the smallest its been and NOT moving to each keystroke which is different behavior to terms, hexchat etc. This behavior is only evident in GNOME. guiverc@d960-ubu2:~$ lsb_release -a No LSB modules are available. [Bug 1765888] [NEW] Please revert to debian-alternatives based prime-select
Public bug reported: The new prime-select has some problems. It is very slow to switch, since it does initramfs -u each time It leaves my two optimus laptops without graphics if you leave it in prime-select intel but boot with discrete nvidia. Previously this would load nvidia drivers. These are both two bad 'regressions' in the user experience, the first for everyone, the second for those how have a hardware mux. I know there is bug in logind meaning that a restart is required to poweroff the nvidia card. But this is not new, right? What has happened between 17.10 and 18.04 that has required this dramatic change? Is it now broken to use debian alternatives? [Bug 1765887] [NEW] prime-select leaves system in strange state with nvidia enabled but blacklisted
Public bug reported: I don't know how to replicate this bug yet, I will update if I learn more. Several times as I test prime-select on my Thinkpad P50, I have ended up in situations where the laptop will not start graphics. This always happens if you leave the laptop in prime-select intel and then boot the machine with the BIOS settings Discrete (subject of another bug report). At the moment, I have this state prime-select query nvidia but present is /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-nvidia.conf The machine has three screens (internal, hdmi and 4K via display port). only the display port is on, and it's in HD mode. [Bug 1765883] [NEW] gradle-debian-helper relies on an invalid java api directory
Public bug reported: gradle-debian-helper should: 1) declare the binary package gradle-debian-helper as dependend upon default-jdk-doc; 2) use the directory file:///usr/share/doc/default-jdk-doc/api in DebianHelperPlugin.java instead of the current default-jdk one. The reason for this change is that until openjdk-9 the javadoc binary would ignore invalid javadoc links and at most throw out a warning, but since openjdk-10 this behavior changed to an error which causes packages that calls the javadoc binary to FTBFS whenever an invalid, nonexistent, or unreacheable link is given. In gradle-debian-helper the file gradle-helper-plugin/src/main/java/org/debian/gradle/DebianHelperPlugin.java currently sets the first javadoc link to file:///usr/share/doc/default-jdk/api First, this seems to indicates that the plugin expects that the default-jdk package will be installed when it's used, but this is not reflected upon its 'Depends:' (or 'Recommends:'). Second, even if the default-jdk is installed this is problematic because that directory is actually a relative link to ../openjdk-X-doc/api which in turn belongs to an openjdk-X-doc package - such package is not installed by the default-jdk package. Instead of looking for a default-jdk directory I proposed that it should instead look for a default-jdk-doc directory as the api link because the default-jdk-doc package does depends on an openjdk-X-doc package. This change shouldn't cause much problem for any packages currently building with the default-jdk set to openjdk-9 (or 8), since if /usr/share/doc/default-jdk-doc does not exist then the default-jdk-doc was not installed anyway and the original link to /usr/share/doc/default-jdk/api would be invalid anyway and these openjdk versions ignore that. Without the proposed changes packages would FTBFS unless both default-jdk and default-jdk-doc are installed after the default-jdk moves to openjdk-10 (or 11). Also, packages that depend upon default-jdk-headless would FTBFS unless they moved to depend upon default-jdk. ** Affects: gradle-debian-helper (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: groovy (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: gradle-debian-helper (Debian) Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Tags: patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1765883 Title: gradle-debian-helper relies on an invalid java api directory To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gradle-debian-helper/+bug/1765883/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Currently such chip is supported only in it87 version https://github.com/groeck/it87; unfortunately both Ubuntu's new LTS Bionic and Torvalds' repositories have got an outdated version of this driver (and possible lm_sensors itself): * http://kernel.ubuntu.com/git/ubuntu/ubuntu-bionic.git/tree/drivers/hwmon/it87.c * https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/drivers/hwmon/it87.c Can you please update Bionic (at least) to feature this updated driver? [Bug 1764935] Re: kernel 4.13.0 not backwards compatible with virtualbox 5.0.18
apport information ** Description changed: Due to the latest changes in VirtualBox kernel 4.13.0 is not compatible with VirtualBox 5.1.34 and kernel 4.4.0 is not compatible with VirtualBox 5.1.34 due to the latest changes in the kernel kernel 4.13.0 not backwards compatible with VirtualBox 5.0.18 but kernel 4.4.0 is compatible with VirtualBox 5.0.18 The incompatibility of VirtualBox 5.1.34 is caused by Oracle phasing out support for running in 'raw mode' so that system without VT-x can no longer run VMs. The lack of backwards compatibility of kernel 4.13.0 is not known to me (being a non-expert). I have requested Oracle to provide (and support) a 'heritage' version (see: https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=7=87387). However, the fact that VirtualBox 5.0.18 is in the repositories (i.e. listed in Synaptic) means that kernel 4.13.0 is deemed to be compatible with VirtualBox 5.0.18. [Bug 1765726] Re: libgoo-canvas-perl [needs-packaging]
Unfortunately, I've downgraded from 18.04 back to 16.04.4 due to this issue. Everything else (I use) works in 18.04, but without shutter's edit- feature I cannot communicate as quickly and articulately as I need to for work. Plus, I was unable to find a work-around. So if anyone finds some hack to get this going in 18.04, I'll be checking back here looking for it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1765726 Title: libgoo-canvas-perl [needs-packaging] To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/shutter/+bug/1765726/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
