[Bug 1758885] Re: Upgrade to 18.04 is failing from 17.10
I am facing the same issue. Don't you think that the bug is actually in being blocked by a 3rd-party package in the first place? In this case for example, libgbm1 is a package which is also available in the Ubuntu 18.04 repositories. The upgrade manager should have been able to automatically detach the version from the 3rd-party repository and download the package from the official Ubuntu repository and install it. I see no reason for being blocked in the first place. Because as a user, I can't simply remove some of my software upon each upgrade because of such issue. The real blocker here is the upgrade mechanism, not the 3rd-party package. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1758885 Title: Upgrade to 18.04 is failing from 17.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-release-upgrader/+bug/1758885/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1767438] Re: Not able to install ubuntu 18.04 :-(. Crash on installing. Please respond ASAP.
I think it is not related to UEFI... It is related to GPT disk type. Beacuse my friend installed in uefi mode but it doesn't have gpt disk type. The one another reason of this bug to relate to GPT beacuse installer crashing in my virtual machine too(which also have gpt). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1767438 Title: Not able to install ubuntu 18.04 :-(. [Bug 1767568] [NEW] Console DPMS Nonfunctional in Ubuntu Server 18.04
Public bug reported: My console display is DPMS capable, i.e., power management functions worked before upgrading from Ubuntu Server 16.0.4.4. Currently the display stays on 24x7 with idle keyboard input. 1) My release information is as follows: Description:Ubuntu 18.04 LTS Release:18.04 2) I am not sure what package this issue is tied to. The current kernel appears to have DPMS support enabled, per the configuration file in /boot. If the kernel is responsible, below is the version I am running. linux-generic: Installed: 4.15.0.20.23 3) I expected to have DPMS support for my console as in the previous release of Ubuntu Server. 4) What happened instead is my monitor stays on all the time, without DPMS controlling it. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: console dpms server -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1767568 Title: Console DPMS Nonfunctional in Ubuntu Server 18.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1767568/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1767559] [NEW] Provide libinput 1.10.5 in bionic-updates to fix specific touchpad and keyboard issues
Public bug reported: This is an SRU request to bring the libinput 1.10.5 microrelease to bionic-updates. Bionic ships with 1.10.4, but the 1.10.5 microrelease fixes several highly specific issues with Lenovo T440, T450s and X280 and Dell XPS13 L322X laptops. See: https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/wayland- devel/2018-April/037934.html [Impact] * Users of Dell XPS13 L322X laptops have an almost unusable touchpad out-of-the-box with Bionic. This has been reported in https://bugs.launchpad.net/libinput/+bug/1746740 and fixed upstream in https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=104990 . * Users of Lenovo T440, T450s and X280 laptops also have suboptimal touchpad experiences. [Test Case] * The issue can be reproduced on any Dell L322X laptop, by booting the Bionic live CD. The touchpad will only work with the slightest touch, any more amount of touch pressure falsely triggers the palm detection and the cursor won't move. * Manually overriding the HWDB with the patches available in https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=104990 fixes the issue. * These patches have been released in libinput 1.10.5. * With the patched HWDB or latest microrelease, the touchpad works properly out-of-the-box. [Regression Potential] * Regressions are highly unlikely, changes will only affect users with the above mentioned devices. [Other Info] It is worth noting that the Dell XPS13 L322X is from the Sputnik series of "Developer Edition" laptops from Dell, which are supposed to have excellent Ubuntu support and came pre-installed with Ubuntu 12.04 when first released. Every release from 12.04 to 17.10 had perfect out-of- the-box touchpad support, so this bug is a regression. I realise this is because of the change away from synaptics as the input driver, but in terms of user experience presents a serious regression. ** Affects: libinput (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: sru -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1767559 Title: Provide libinput 1.10.5 in bionic-updates to fix specific touchpad and keyboard issues To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libinput/+bug/1767559/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1767560] [NEW] Battery graph in tray icon is inaccurate
Public bug reported: xfce4-power-manager has a tray icon which shows current status and has a graph when a battery is inserted. The green bar in the icon should be showing current battery level, but it varies weirdly. If I place my mouse cursor over the icon the tooltip which appears shows the actual battery level. Now it is charging, 44%, but the graph is more like 80%. Earlier while discharging at around 28% the green was absent, as if it was 0%. Both times I verified via the tooltip. So, the package has correct info but is graphing it incorrectly. It is not simply old info because it changes. [Bug 1767544] [NEW] While running the Orca screen reader, system hangs while gnome-control-center is open
Public bug reported: When gnome-control-center loads, my computer becomes inaccessible. To get Orca working again, I have to force close the app with Alt+f4. There are parts of the control center that I can use, such as the sound and VPN settings, only if I invoke them from the dash. If I invoke Wi-Fi from the dash or top bar, it is inaccessible. Steps to reproduce: 1. Launch Orca by pressing Alt+Super+s. 2. Press the super key, and type "settings" into the search box. 3. After the settings screen loads, try to move around using Tab and Shift+Tab. Also try to move using Orca's flat review feature. The commands for using flat review can be found at: https://help.gnome.org/users/orca/stable/commands_flat_review.html.en On a desktop, the Orca modifier is the insert key. (if a previous Ubuntu install was found) - Resize and install - Erase disk and install. The first two options will attempt to complete the installation in EFI mode (as they should) but do not create an EFI system partition, which is required as a place to put shim and grub on disk for booting. The installer will then crash / fail as grub-install fails to find the ESP when copying the bootloader. The last option works correctly, it creates the ESP as it erases the entire disks and proceeds with new partitioning.
