[Bug 1751252] Re: [regression] ubiquity crashed in debconf.py:104 with ValueError: invalid literal for int() with base 10: ''

2018-05-03 Thread Andrey Arapov via ubuntu-bugs
The patch
https://code.launchpad.net/~azzar1/ubiquity/+git/ubiquity/+merge/345056
did work for me on my mid-2017 MacBookPro (HW, not VM).

Thank you, Andrea!

[Bug 1760643] Re: test_072_config_debug_rodata in kernel security test failed with 4.4 X-kvm

2018-05-03 Thread Po-Hsu Lin
Hi Steve,
Today I found this one is still failing on 4.4 KVM:

  FAIL: test_072_config_debug_rodata (__main__.KernelSecurityTest)
  CONFIG_DEBUG_RODATA/CONFIG_STRICT_KERNEL_RWX enabled
  --
  Traceback (most recent call last):
File "./test-kernel-security.py", line 674, in test_072_config_debug_rodata
  self.assertEqual(self._test_config(option), expected)
  AssertionError: False != True

ubuntu@zeppo:~$ cat /proc/version_signature
Ubuntu 4.4.0-1022.27-kvm 4.4.128

These two configs are not enabled in the kernel config file:
$ grep -e CONFIG_DEBUG_RODATA -e CONFIG_STRICT_KERNEL_RWX
/boot/config-4.4.0-1022-kvm
# CONFIG_DEBUG_RODATA is not set

As in you comment #3 the CONFIG_KERNEL_DEBUG should be CONFIG_DEBUG_KERNEL
instead?
The code was checking for "DEBUG_KERNEL", and this one is enabled in the 4.4
KVM kernel

$ grep DEBUG_KERNEL /boot/config-4.4.0-1022-kvm
CONFIG_DEBUG_KERNEL=y

Therefore I will re-open the task for q-r-t.

[Bug 1767857] Re: Kernel 4.4.0-122 Breaks qemu-system-x86

2018-05-03 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Hi Skipper,
thanks for sharing the qemu cmdline, there is nothing odd in this and I can run
a system like that (not a win 10 guest) just fine.

What about the per thread stats I asked, which threads are busy and where do
they consume time?
Depending on your experience you could even check "perf kvm stat" and such to
see which exists you trigger (unless it is mostly in guest anyway).

@Kernel Team - have you had similar reports?

[Bug 1769056] [NEW] driverless printing generates wrong language/encoding PPD

2018-05-03 Thread Naruhiko Ogasawara
Public bug reported:

The printing option dialog (see attached PNG file) is broken with Bionic
Japanese environment.
This issue seems to be coming from the generated PPD file with wrong
language/encoding.

I tried with Epson EP-879AW.

Steps to reproduce:

1) generate a print queue by driverless feature with ja-JP locale:

$ LANG-ja_JP.UTF-8 lpadmin -p driverlesstest-ja -E -v `driverless` -m
everywhere

2) check the generated PPD (attached driverlesstest-ja.ppd)

$ sudo less /etc/cups/ppd/driverlesstest-ja.ppd

Expected: PPD have same language/encoding with content (if the content
have Japanese, language/encoding should be Japanese/UTF-8)

Actual: PPD has Japanese strings, but language/encoding is
English/ISOLatin1

Attached files:

driverless print queue

[Bug 1769044] [NEW] Ubunut 18.04 d-i preseeded installer hangs at 66 % of update-grub...

2018-05-03 Thread Lenin
Public bug reported:

Checking alt-f4, I can see stuff about os-prober, going alt-f2, ps |
grep mounted; then killing the first process, it goes further and all is
fine.

Annoying thing, out of 15 machines it happened on 7 (about 50%), why, I
can't tell yet.

[Bug 1768906] Re: Xorg crash

2018-05-03 Thread Cyrus Harmon
I'm not exactly clear what you mean by purging and settings removal.
I've run uninstall with the proprietary driver (and rebooted) I've used
nvidia-driver-396 and apt-cache remove --purge'd that. I've tried to
video cards now. In short, I've tried everything I can think of, but
still end up with the same problem.

No, I was not. I was doing it all on terminal.
Well, now you've said that, I started to install it once, but was afraid that
it was a local, not global, installation, so I interrupt the process and
started it again.
Do you know what I have to do to fix that?

Hi,
- did you install install with "disk-detect/multipath/enable=true" ? (
https://help.ubuntu.com/lts/serverguide/multipath-setting-up-dm-multipath.html.en
 )
- check /var/log/syslog to see you didn't fail to download any udeb related to
disk management and make sure there isn't any error .
- check availability of disks with lsblk or "find /dev/disk/ -ls"

[Bug 1759628] Re: bluez regression: Bluetooth audio fails to reconnect after resume

2018-05-03 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I'm not suggesting waiting for 5.49, kind of. This bug will be fixed in
an update to 5.48.

Policy however requires that we always fix the development release
first. So Ubuntu 18.10 will probably need to receive bluez 5.49 before
we can get approval for a bluez 5.48 update to Ubuntu 18.04.

Be sure to purge the previous used nvidia driver before testing a new one
(settings removal).
Do you get the same issue if 'nouveau' driver is used ? (nvidia purged, and
reboot)

[Bug 1641290] Re: [04f3:0903] Elan Microelectronics Corp fingerprint reader not recognised

2018-05-03 Thread Luca Bognolo
Hi,
img_capture worked, but enroll didn't. Subsequent attempts with img_capture
failed with similar problem as enroll. Maybe device not released properly? Will
try to reboot the laptop and if things change will post again.
Thanks for your efforts!

[Bug 1759300] Re: Gnome Shell: Touchpad right click (bottom right) area does not work

2018-05-03 Thread Mike
I had GNOME (rather than Unity) as my default desktop before upgrading
to 18.04, and I strongly believe that my settings should have been
respected rather than overridden to the installation default. Whatever
the merits of the choice of installation default, it seems clear error
to impose it over a previously existing GNOME installation.

My touchpad has hardware left and right buttons, and it is my
understanding that it should therefore not default to "finger" mode but
should instead default to "area" mode. I was not able to get two-finger
secondary click to work in "finger" mode at all. The laptop is an Acer
V3-574 and the touchpad identifies in dmesg as follows:

hid-multitouch 0018:04F3:300B.0001: Ignoring the extra HID_DG_INPUTMODE
input: ELAN0501:00 04F3:300B Touchpad as

[Bug 1315342] Re: Stop appending 3rd party PPA names with warnings

2018-05-03 Thread Jason Heeris
> The ammendments "# disabled on upgrade to trusty" is a comment and
subsequently has not effect on the entry.

Nope, it makes the name of every PPA in the software properties dialog
the same: 'disabled on upgrade to bionic'. Extremely annoying and
difficult to manage.
