[Bug 1771276] [NEW] linux 4.15 currupts ipsec packets over non ethernet devices
Public bug reported: Linux 4.15 has a bug that currupts ipsec packets if they are received over a non ethernet interface. This is a serve showstopper bug for me since it breaks my VPN setup and locks me out of my server. see https://wiki.strongswan.org/issues/2571 and https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/davem/net.git/commit/?id=87cdf3148b11 since 4.15 is already EOL, the only possibility is backporting the linked patch ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1771276 Title: linux 4.15 currupts ipsec packets over non ethernet devices To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1771276/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 1688575] Re: Segmentation fault on a slave slapd (sync replication with kerberos authentication)
The attached debdiff is basically the same as what I already uploaded to Debian stable in 2.4.44+dfsg-5+deb9u1. No regressions were reported against that upload. Re: [Bug 1688575] Re: Segmentation fault on a slave slapd (sync replication with kerberos authentication)
Please find attached a test program and Makefile plus a test script to drive it. Basically the program exercises concurrent SASL binds. With the current packages in xenial, the test program fails in a variety of ways: $ ./sasltest rc = -6 (Unknown authentication method) sasltest: sasltest.c:70: bind_thread: Assertion `rc == LDAP_SUCCESS' failed. Aborted $ ./sasltest Segmentation fault $ ./sasltest Bus error or even simply hanging/spinning. (If you execute ./sasltest in a shell, be sure to export LDAPSASL_SECPROPS=none first to avoid the confidentiality requirement.) With the proposed patch, the test program should reliably complete all its iterations (takes a few seconds) and exit successfully. I hope this reproduces the problem for you. My proposed debdiff and PPA are out of date and should be rebased using the actual upstream patches. (Similar changes already landed in Debian stretch.) I will try to take care of that this week, but if you have everything you need and the tuits, feel free to proceed without me. ** Attachment added: "Makefile" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1688575/+attachment/5139678/+files/Makefile ** Attachment added: "sasltest.c" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1688575/+attachment/5139679/+files/sasltest.c ** Attachment added: "testscript" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1688575/+attachment/5139680/+files/testscript -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1688575 Title: Segmentation fault on a slave slapd (sync replication with kerberos authentication) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/openldap/+bug/1688575/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1435020] Re: Custom Shortcut keybindings does not work
Actually I'm experiencing it on Ubuntu 18.04 using Unity 7. Running unity-settings-daemon manually produces the following message: (unity-settings-daemon:4065): media-keys-plugin-WARNING **: 15:32:32.495: Grab failed for some keys, another application may already have access the them. The consequence of this is none of the keyboard shortcuts defined in Keyboard Settings Shortcuts tab work except for those defined under Windows. This also includes other key combinations like laptop screen brightness controls (Fn+F8/F9 on my laptop), hotkey launchers like Ctrl- Alt-t for new terminal, and custom shortcuts. Strangely it only happens sometimes. Most times I log in and the media keys etc all work fine. [Bug 1722185] Re: gnome-software (11) g_io_channel_shutdown → pk_client_helper_copy_stdout_cb → g_main_dispatch → g_main_context_dispatch → g_main_context_iterate
I can still reproduce after the above change, but that does fix some possibly related errors. I can reproduce reliably, as it seems to be due to the debconf- communicate window not closing for some reason. The shell prompts you to force quit, and clicking that is causing packagekit-glib (and thus gnome-software) to crash. ** Changed in: packagekit (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: packagekit (Ubuntu Bionic) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: packagekit (Ubuntu Bionic) Status: Confirmed => In Progress ** Changed in: packagekit (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => In Progress ** Changed in: packagekit (Ubuntu Bionic) Status: In Progress => Triaged ** Changed in: packagekit (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Robert Ancell (robert-ancell) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1722185 Title: gnome-software (11) g_io_channel_shutdown → pk_client_helper_copy_stdout_cb → g_main_dispatch → g_main_context_dispatch → g_main_context_iterate To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/packagekit/+bug/1722185/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1771223] Re: Cannot connect to L2TP network
Can you confirm you are seeing the "udp_xmit failed ... with err=-1:No such device" error ? If you are, this is not a network-manager-l2tp bug, but a kernel 4.15 bug, I posted a xl2tpd bug report and workaround patch for Ubuntu 18.04's xl2tpd package almost a month before Bionic Beaver was released : https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xl2tpd/+bug/1760796 The bug is receiving very little user attention, only 7 people have voted for it, ho[pefully the more people vote for it the sooner it will receive attention and someone will apply the patch. xl2tpd 1.3.12 hasn't been released yet, can you confirm you built from the xl2tpd 1.3.12 git branch? i.e. : git clone -b 1.3.12 https://github.com/xelerance/xl2tpd.git cd xl2tpd make sudo cp xl2tpd /usr/sbin/xl2tpd xl2tpd 1.3.12 git branch definitely fixed the issue for me on Ubuntu 18.04. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1771223 Title: Cannot connect to L2TP network To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager-l2tp/+bug/1771223/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1771236] Re: forced use of systemd-networkd interferes with ifupdown in 18.04
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1771236/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1771259] [NEW] [SRU] Update to bug-fix release 3.0.2 in Bionic
Public bug reported: [Impact] VLC has received a bugfix update on the 3.0.x release path, which was recommended to us by Debian for additional stability in the Long Term Support release. [Test Case] Install vlc from bionic-proposed and test it for a decent amount of time. Play different video formats to catch any regressions, and use it as you normally would. [Regression Potential] The 3.0.x branch receives only bug fixes, which are cherry-picked from the master branch where the main development takes place. So, I think the regression potential is low. [Bug 1770082] Re: systemd-networkd not renaming devices on boot
This is not a full solution. In Xenial this renaming works even if initramfs has *not* been updated and there is no 70-persistent-net.rules file in the initial ramdisk. I'm still figuring out why this is, but it means that even if my patch were applied, there would be a regression in bionic vs xenial. Here's a snippet from dmesg showing the same device being renamed twice, this is a xenial guest. It shows the device going from the kernel name (eth0) to the udev slot based name (ens16), to the name specified in the udev rules file that is *not* present in initrd. ubuntu@xt2:~$ dmesg|grep renamed [2.428015] virtio_net virtio3 ens16: renamed from eth0 [5.317990] virtio_net virtio3 ens3: renamed from ens16 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1770082 Title: systemd-networkd not renaming devices on boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/netplan/+bug/1770082/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1743637] Re: QEMU vhost-user shutdown suffers from use after free (missing clean shutdown)
Okay, This was a little trick. I could not make openvswitch + dpdk to work in Xenial.. not sure why :\. I've installed pike openvswitch + dpdk (from Cloud Archive) and tested it with Xenial's qemu (from -proposed, from this case) so I could test this logic (apart from final user confirmation): https://pastebin.ubuntu.com/p/tnKMSWSQRD/ To make sure I was triggering the vhost-user logic I've used systemtap, that didn't work either for latest Xenial kernel I had (4.4.0-125-generic). So I backported systemtap from artful and make it to run a small stap script for qemu-system-x86_64 binary. https://pastebin.ubuntu.com/p/cYSD9mc4qM/ $ sudo stap -d /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc-2.23.so -d kernel -g ./kvm- arch.stap # during qemu startup (when vhost_user_start logic is triggered) 0x5603689d7230 : net_vhost_user_event+0xc0/0x220 [/usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64] 0x5603689d7519 : net_init_vhost_user+0x159/0x270 [/usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64] 0x5603689d051e : net_client_init+0x14e/0x340 [/usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64] 0x5603689d07ac : net_init_netdev+0x2c/0x70 [/usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64] 0x560368a9681a : qemu_opts_foreach+0x6a/0xc0 [/usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64] 0x5603689d1197 : net_init_clients+0x67/0xe0 [/usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64] 0x560368792f46 : main+0xfe6/0x57a0 [/usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64] 0x7f57b3077830 : __libc_start_main+0xf0/0x1d0 [/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc-2.23.so] 0x560368798da9 : _start+0x29/0x30 [/usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64] # full shutdown with the tap_cleanup and vhost_user_cleanup logics: 0x559d0c93f4a0 : tap_cleanup+0x0/0xe0 [/usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64] 0x559d0c93a1c5 : qemu_del_net_client+0x1a5/0x210 [/usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64] 0x559d0c93afed : net_cleanup+0x1d/0x60 [/usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64] 0x7f9b84d80ff8 : __run_exit_handlers+0xe8/0x120 [/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc-2.23.so] 0x7f9b84d81045 : exit+0x15/0x20 [/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc-2.23.so] 0x7f9b84d67837 : __libc_start_main+0xf7/0x1d0 [/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc-2.23.so] 0x559d0c702da9 : _start+0x29/0x30 [/usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64] 0x559d0c940de0 : vhost_user_cleanup+0x0/0x40 [/usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64] 0x559d0c93a1c5 : qemu_del_net_client+0x1a5/0x210 [/usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64] 0x559d0c93afed : net_cleanup+0x1d/0x60 [/usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64] 0x7f9b84d80ff8 : __run_exit_handlers+0xe8/0x120 [/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc-2.23.so] 0x7f9b84d81045 : exit+0x15/0x20 [/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc-2.23.so] 0x7f9b84d67837 : __libc_start_main+0xf7/0x1d0 [/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc-2.23.so] 0x559d0c702da9 : _start+0x29/0x30 [/usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64] 0x559d0c782780 : vhost_user_cleanup+0x0/0x40 [/usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64] 0x559d0c78161c : vhost_dev_cleanup+0x8c/0xc0 [/usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64] 0x559d0c940df5 : vhost_user_cleanup+0x15/0x40 [/usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64] 0x559d0c93a1c5 : qemu_del_net_client+0x1a5/0x210 [/usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64] 0x559d0c93afed : net_cleanup+0x1d/0x60 [/usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64] 0x7f9b84d80ff8 : __run_exit_handlers+0xe8/0x120 [/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc-2.23.so] 0x7f9b84d81045 : exit+0x15/0x20 [/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc-2.23.so] 0x7f9b84d67837 : __libc_start_main+0xf7/0x1d0 [/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc-2.23.so] 0x559d0c702da9 : _start+0x29/0x30 [/usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64] 0x559d0c940de0 : vhost_user_cleanup+0x0/0x40 [/usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64] 0x559d0c93a1c5 : qemu_del_net_client+0x1a5/0x210 [/usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64] 0x559d0c93afed : net_cleanup+0x1d/0x60 [/usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64] 0x7f9b84d80ff8 : __run_exit_handlers+0xe8/0x120 [/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc-2.23.so] 0x7f9b84d81045 : exit+0x15/0x20 [/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc-2.23.so] 0x7f9b84d67837 : __libc_start_main+0xf7/0x1d0 [/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc-2.23.so] 0x559d0c702da9 : _start+0x29/0x30 [/usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64] 0x559d0c782780 : vhost_user_cleanup+0x0/0x40 [/usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64] 0x559d0c78161c : vhost_dev_cleanup+0x8c/0xc0 [/usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64] 0x559d0c940df5 : vhost_user_cleanup+0x15/0x40 [/usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64] 0x559d0c93a1c5 : qemu_del_net_client+0x1a5/0x210 [/usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64] 0x559d0c93afed : net_cleanup+0x1d/0x60 [/usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64] 0x7f9b84d80ff8 : __run_exit_handlers+0xe8/0x120 [/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc-2.23.so] 0x7f9b84d81045 : exit+0x15/0x20 [/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc-2.23.so] 0x7f9b84d67837 : __libc_start_main+0xf7/0x1d0 [/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc-2.23.so] 0x559d0c702da9 : _start+0x29/0x30 [/usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64] I have tested this start/stop logic tons of times in a loop and could not find any issue so far. # vhost_user_stop logic is not triggered during shutdown. its triggered only in case of a full vhost-user reset, which would mean that openvswitch has reset. in this case, libvirt would have to reconnect the vhostuser and that functionality does not seem to be present in Xenial. other possibility would be that the guests were configured using vhostuser interface in "server"

When a KVM Guest launches, it also has some internal PCIe devices including host bridge, USB, IDE (for virtual disk), and virtual nic etc. Script used to launch all devices looks like this: #!/bin/bash NAME=16gpuvm sudo qemu-img create -f qcow2 /home/lab/kvm/images/${NAME}.img 40G && sudo virt-install \ --name ${NAME} \ --ram 716800 \ --vcpus 88 \ --disk path=/home/lab/kvm/images/${NAME}.img,format=qcow2 \ --network bridge=virbr0 \ --graphics none \ --host-device 34:00.0 \ --host-device 36:00.0 \ --host-device 39:00.0 \ --host-device 3b:00.0 \ --host-device 57:00.0 \ --host-device 59:00.0 \ --host-device 5c:00.0 \ --host-device 5e:00.0 \ --host-device 61:00.0 \ --host-device 62:00.0 \ --host-device 63:00.0 \ --host-device 65:00.0 \ --host-device 66:00.0 \ --host-device 67:00.0 \ --host-device 35:00.0 \ --host-device 3a:00.0 \ --host-device 58:00.0 \ --host-device 5d:00.0 \ --host-device 2e:00.0 \ --host-device 2f:00.0 \ --host-device 51:00.0 \ --host-device 52:00.0 \ --host-device b7:00.0 \ --host-device b9:00.0 \ --host-device bc:00.0 \ --host-device be:00.0 \ --host-device e0:00.0 \ --host-device e2:00.0 \ --host-device e5:00.0 \ --host-device e7:00.0 \ --host-device c1:00.0 \ --host-device c2:00.0 \ --host-device c3:00.0 \ --host-device c5:00.0 \ --host-device c6:00.0 \ --host-device c7:00.0 \ --host-device b8:00.0 \ --host-device bd:00.0 \ --host-device e1:00.0 \ --host-device e6:00.0 \ --host-device b1:00.0 \ --host-device b2:00.0 \ --host-device da:00.0 \ --host-device db:00.0 \ --console pty,target_type=serial \ --location http://ftp.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/xenial/main/installer-amd64 \ --initrd-inject=/home/lab/kvm/images/preseed.cfg \ --extra-args=" console=ttyS0,115200 locale=en_US console-keymaps-at/keymap=us console-setup/ask_detect=false console-setup/layoutcode=us keyboard-configuration/layout=USA keyboard-configuration/variant=USA hostname=${NAME} file=file:/preseed.cfg " Passing > 32 device causes this issue: 32nd device hits a DPC error and the host/HV crashes: Apr 25 22:34:35 xpl-evt-16 kernel: [18125.977496] dpc :5b:10.0:pcie210: DPC containment event, status:0x0009 source:0x Apr 25 22:34:35 xpl-evt-16 kernel: [18125.977500] dpc :5b:10.0:pcie210: DPC unmasked uncorrectable error detected, remove downstream devices Apr 25 22:34:35 xpl-evt-16 kernel: [18125.994326] vfio-pci :5e:00.0: Refused to change power state, currently in D3 Apr 25 22:34:35 xpl-evt-16 kernel: [18125.994427] iommu: Removing device :5e:00.0 from group 92 >From syslog (attached) Apr 25 22:37:13 xpl-evt-16 kernel: [2.194358] dpc :bb:04.0:pcie210: DPC error containment capabilities: Int Msg #3, RPExt- PoisonedTLP+ SwTrigger+ RP PIO Log 0, DL_ActiveErr+ Apr 25 22:37:13 xpl-evt-16 kernel: [2.194387] dpc :bb:10.0:pcie210: DPC error containment capabilities: Int Msg #3, RPExt- PoisonedTLP+ SwTrigger+ RP PIO Log 0, DL_ActiveErr+ Apr 25 22:37:13 xpl-evt-16 kernel: [2.194413] dpc :d9:00.0:pcie210: DPC error containment capabilities: Int Msg #3, RPExt- PoisonedTLP+ SwTrigger+ RP PIO Log 0, DL_ActiveErr+ Apr 25 22:37:13 xpl-evt-16 kernel: [2.194439] dpc :d9:01.0:pcie210: DPC error containment capabilities: Int Msg #3, RPExt- PoisonedTLP+ SwTrigger+ RP PIO Log 0, DL_ActiveErr+ Apr 25 22:37:13 xpl-evt-16 kernel: [2.194472] dpc :d9:02.0:pcie210: DPC error containment capabilities: Int Msg #3, RPExt- PoisonedTLP+ SwTrigger+ RP PIO Log 0, DL_ActiveErr+ Apr 25 22:37:13 xpl-evt-16 kernel: [2.194499] dpc :d9:03.0:pcie210: DPC error containment capabilities: Int Msg #3, RPExt- PoisonedTLP+ SwTrigger+ RP PIO Log 0, DL_ActiveErr+ Apr 25 22:37:13 xpl-evt-16 kernel: [2.194526] dpc :d9:04.0:pcie210: DPC error containment capabilities: Int Msg #3, RPExt- PoisonedTLP+ SwTrigger+ RP PIO Log 0, DL_ActiveErr+ Apr 25 22:37:13 xpl-evt-16 kernel: [2.194553] dpc :d9:0c.0:pcie210: DPC error containment capabilities: Int Msg #3, RPExt- PoisonedTLP+ SwTrigger+ RP PIO Log 0, DL_ActiveErr+ Apr 25 22:37:13 xpl-evt-16 kernel: [2.194583] dpc :df:00.0:pcie210: DPC error containment capabilities: Int Msg #3, RPExt- PoisonedTLP+ SwTrigger+ RP PIO Log 0, DL_ActiveErr+ Apr 25 22:37:13 xpl-evt-16 kernel: [2.194619] dpc :df:04.0:pcie210: DPC error containment capabilities: Int Msg #3, RPExt- PoisonedTLP+ SwTrigger+ RP PIO Log 0, DL_ActiveErr+ Apr 25 22:37:13 xpl-evt-16 kernel: [2.194649] dpc :df:10.0:pcie210: DPC error containment capabilities: Int Msg #3, RPExt- Poiso

[Bug 1771237] [NEW] Screen not locked when coming out of suspend, and VirtualBox is in full-window
Public bug reported: To reproduce on a laptop: 1. Open a virtual machine using VirtualBox (Windows 10 machine, not sure if it matters) 2. Enter full-screen mode 3. Close the laptop's lid 4. Wait a few seconds, and open the lid The session should be locked and you should see the lock screen. But instead you can see the virtual machine and use it. After ~20 seconds, or after you exit the full-screen mode, the session is locked. Maybe the virtual machine gets the ACPI signal somehow? But then why does the screen lock after a few seconds? [Bug 1771236] [NEW] forced use of systemd-networkd interferes with ifupdown in 18.04
Public bug reported: For several reasons, we are not able to use netplan nor systemd-networkd due to legacy applications that expect ifupdown's pre-up and post-up script mechanism. The documentation around 18.04's (premature, I feel) wholesale adoption of netplan claims that one can revert to old behaviour by merely installing ifupdown (amongst assertions that netplan will never offer a mechanism for configuring pre-up and post-up actions even for network managers that support them). However when ifupdown is installed, systemd-networkd still tries to manage interfaces. If you 'systemctl disable systemd-networkd', upon next reboot it is automatically re-enabled. We tried disabling any systemd units even remotely related to networking and yet systemd- networkd still runs. If it hasn't been configured, it tries to DHCP. On networks that don't provide DHCP this results in a stupendously long stall during boot. Currently it appears to be impossible to tell systemd-networkd not to run in a clean manner that won't get reverted on package upgrades. I sincerely hope this is is a bug/oversight and not intentional. We need to be able to disable systemd-networkd properly. Thanks ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Summary changed: - forced use of systemd-networkd interferes with ifupdown + forced use of systemd-networkd interferes with ifupdown in 18.04 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1771236 Title: forced use of systemd-networkd interferes with ifupdown in 18.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1771236/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
