2018-06-18 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package procps - 2:3.3.15-2ubuntu1

procps (2:3.3.15-2ubuntu1) cosmic; urgency=medium

  * Merge from Debian unstable. Remaining changes:
- debian/sysctl.d (Ubuntu-specific):
+ 10-console-messages.conf: stop low-level kernel messages on console.
  + 10-kernel-hardening.conf: add the kptr_restrict setting
+ 10-keyboard.conf.powerpc: mouse button emulation on PowerPC.
+ 10-ipv6-privacy.conf: add a file to sysctl.d to apply the defaults
for IPv6 privacy extensions for interfaces. (LP: #176125, #841353)
+ 10-link-restrictions.conf: even though the Ubuntu
kernel is built with these defaults in place, we want to make sure
that people running stock kernels don't miss out.
+ 10-magic-sysrq.conf: Disable most magic sysrq by default, allowing
critical sync, remount, reboot functions. (LP: #194676, LP: #1025467)
  + 10-network-security.conf: enable rp_filter.

[Bug 1777008] Re: Fix log reopen in >=2.2.33

2018-06-18 Thread  Christian Ehrhardt 
There is a test build in [1] that I'd ask you to try before going
forward.

It would also be great if you could assist by providing short steps to
reproduce that we could use as test verification of the issue under the
terms of [2], to fill the test section for the SRU template here.

The changes itself seem small enough, I opened a merge proposal for
another community/team member to double check for silly mistakes [3]

[Bug 1777579] [NEW] 18.04 Dekstop LTS DNS behavior (systemd-resolved)

2018-06-18 Thread Uwe
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I am using te latest Ubuntu Mate Desktop 18.04 LTS release and have issues
getting local DNS to work.
In my network I maintain a central router instance that povides DHCP and DNS
successfully over many years. The DHCP assigns a valid address and correct DNS
information to my above mentioned network client. However DNS resolution does
not work for DNS records maintained in my router for my local network.
See here: (local DNS server on .3.1)

uho@Asus:~/Schreibtisch$ systemd-resolve --status

  DNSSEC NTA: 10.in-addr.arpa

uho@Asus:~/Schreibtisch$ nslookup filou 192.168.3.1
Server: 192.168.3.1

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: filou
Address: 192.168.3.10

uho@Asus:~/Schreibtisch$ nslookup 192.168.3.10
10.3.168.192.in-addr.arpa name = filou.

Authoritative answers can be found from:

uho@Asus:~/Schreibtisch$

The example above shows that DNS forward lookup for "filou" does not work, only
reverse lookup works.
The same behavior with explicit DNS setting in network manager.

Any idea what's wrong? To me this looks weirdly broken.

BTW: Old school setting in /etc/resolv.conf works like a charm.

BR
Uwe

[Bug 1775170] Re: [SRU] Fixing empty create swift container dialog after upgrading horizon from newton to ocata

2018-06-18 Thread Seyeong Kim
Hello Corey,

If I don't remove horizon/static,

compressed js has incomplete js file so UI show us javascript error when
clicking container button.
I think it can't get template for this dialog.

I checked compressed js has more code( and broken ) than pure ocata

I don't remember exact code so I'll reproduce this and will attache that
compressed part
and I'll also check your request.

[Bug 1768230] Re: Long time booting : Failed to connect to lvmetad. Falling back to device scanning.

2018-06-18 Thread Marc Pignat
@vorlon,

I can't get it work

Tested that:
[Test case]
1. Install using the "Use LVM" option in the desktop installer.
4. Reboot.
5. Verify that dmesg shows a 30-second delay before mounting the root
filesystem.
6. Install initramfs-tools from bionic-proposed.

Downloaded:
initramfs-tools_0.130ubuntu10_all.deb
initramfs-tools-bin_0.130ubuntu10_amd64.deb
initramfs-tools-core_0.130ubuntu10_all.deb

done : dpkg -i *.deb

7. Reboot.
8. Verify that dmesg no longer shows a 30-second delay before mounting the root
filesystem.

30 second delay still there
/etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume still exists

If the file `/etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume` is deleted manually, it
is not re-created by update-initramfs -u

[Bug 1758243] Re: bumblebee needs configuration changes to work with nvidia-driver-390 and libglvnd0

2018-06-18 Thread Peter Curtis
I can confirm that the full procedure covered in #1 and #5 has worked
for me once I added one addition change. I found a file in
/etc/modprobe.d with the line "alias nvidia off" which prevented
bumblebee from loading the nvidia module. It was in /etc/modprobe.d
//blacklist-nvidia.conf which I believe is created by prime-select and
remained although nvidia-prime had been purged. I commented out the line
and restarted bumblebee with "sudo systemctl restart bumblebeed" and
everything then worked.

[Bug 1777565] Re: pulseaudio seems to have crashed

2018-06-18 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your bug report is missing crash details. In
order to debug a crash we will need a crash report. To create one,
please follow these steps:

1. If you are not running a future development release of Ubuntu then apply the
workaround from bug 994921.
2. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport
in /etc/default/apport.
3. If the crash is in Xorg then uncomment this option from
/etc/gdm3/custom.conf:
   # Additionally lets the X server dump core if it crashes
   #Enable=true
4. Reboot.
5. Reproduce the crash.
6. Look in /var/crash for crash files and when found, run:
   ubuntu-bug /var/crash/YOURFILE.crash
7. Add a comment here telling us the ID of the new bug that was created in step
6.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments, and doing so is also a
security risk for yourself.

Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu.
Ubuntu 9.04 (jaunty) reached end-of-life on October 23, 2010.

[Bug 1775676] Re: file is not showing in a good format

2018-06-18 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.

At a minimum, we need:
1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 1777378] Re: [nvidia] GDM no longer presents GUI login Ubuntu 18.04

2018-06-18 Thread Daniel van Vugt
It appears your crash reports are not being sent because the nvidia
driver you're using is not the official Ubuntu one. Please remove your
nvidia driver and install the official one from:

  sudo apt install nvidia-driver-390

When done, reboot. Assuming that doesn't fix the problem, please check
again for new crash files. If you find any, please DON'T send them to us
but instead run this command to do it:

  ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash

and tell us the new bug ID created.

[Bug 1777268] Re: Simple Scan crashes in Ubuntu 16 with Brother MFC-L2710DW

2018-06-18 Thread Tim Newsham
It looks like the problem here is that the Brother's official driver installer
is installing an outdated driver file. This was found previously:

   https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=262330#p1425901

instead of downloading and installing the latest brscan4-0.4.5-1.amd64.deb
it is installing the older brscan4-.04.4-3.amd64.deb. This older version
is causing the crash. When the installer script is manually patched
to install the latest version of the brscan4 package, the crash goes away.

[Bug 1777552] [NEW] garbled output with truetype fonts

2018-06-18 Thread Adrian Mariano
Public bug reported:

In 17.10 I printed with enscript using the truetype font
"DejaVuSansMono" without any difficulties. (I had set up the
appropriate afm files and edited font.map.)

After upgrading to 18.04 enscript produces output that is garbled, with
incorrect glyphs or squares replacing most of the characters in the
output. Other applications such as libreoffice print using DejaVu fonts
without difficulty. Enscript still works fine with the fonts it came
with as far as my testing shows. So Bookman and the default font both
work. But Liberation (another truetype font) also fails.

ProblemType: Bug

[Bug 1777378] Re: [nvidia] GDM no longer presents GUI login Ubuntu 18.04

2018-06-18 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Please let us know if the machine has any files in /var/crash/ and what
they are.

Please also copy /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id from the affected machine
and paste its contents in place of ID in
https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID on another machine where you can
browse the web. If that page shows some links then please share them
with us here.
