Upgrading kernel to 4.17.2-041702 has solved the problem for me.

Canonical doesn't bother fixing anything. They are too busy breaking new
stuff. They expect __you__ to fix it for them.

[Bug 1771768] Re: Can't rename files on a random basis (18.04)

2018-06-18 Thread Brice Terzaghi
I've published a video showcasing the issue (https://youtu.be/cgJ6gJzgZ3A).
Sorry, it's not very explicative as I did it quickly with OBS, so here is a bit
of context:
- I have Caja opened in a dir which has just enough files to fille its window
- at first, I can rename a file, two lines are ok, can still rename it
- when the name is long enough (3 lines) so that a scrollbar appears, I can no
longer rename it: at about 00:23, when I select the file, I'm repeatedly
pressing F2 but it has no effect
- if I then resize the window so that the scrollbar disappears, I can rename
the file again
- if I resize it again as it was just before, can't rename the file
- *but* if I resize it again to make it smaller (so, there is still a
scrollbar), I can rename it

>From what I can guess, it seems that the issue happens when the last row
of files shown in the window (when they're bigger than the visible zone)
has a specific amount of their name cut. It's really weird.

[Bug 1777145] Re: Touchpad not detected

2018-06-18 Thread Leifa
Ok, I don't have much knowledge about what is going on, but after some
research I found that the following line in the dmesg could be related
to the issue:

[3.139131] i2c_hid i2c-ELAN0612:01: i2c-ELAN0612:01 supply vdd not
found, using dummy regulator

Also, there was a commit in the linux code recently, for the kernel
release 4.18:

https://github.com/torvalds/linux/commit/e6e7e9cd8eed0e18217c899843bffbe8c7dae564

Does this fix the bug?

Re: [Bug 1714518] Re: GTK+3 doesn't show FUSE/GVFS, smb (SMB/CIFS), sftp (SFTP/SSH) network shares in file chooser

2018-06-18 Thread Jon
Ah, ok, that explains why it didn't work.. 😁

Does anyone have any idea when 14.04LTS is going to get a patch? It's been
months with nothing in sight.

I thought installing an LTS meant issues would get some attention. Really
enjoying the Linux experience overall but the lack of urgency in addressing
a bug which is so annoying (used to work fine until one of the official
updates broke the functionality) makes me hesitant to move more computing
onto this platform.

[Bug 1754759] Re: LAN connection keeps connecting and disconnecting in an infinite loop

2018-06-18 Thread Markus Baumann
Hello Christopher,

thank you for triaging.

1) No. LAN only cycles the connection when setting the MTU. Setting MTU
to "automatic" (= the default) works fine.

2) I tested with the daily-live-ISO (downloaded at 06/16/2018). With
this version the LAN interface worked without connection cycles - even
if I changed the MTU. For further review, I have also tested with
Xubuntu 18.04. Again, the LAN interface showed no connection cycles
after changing the MTU.

Additional information: My currently installed and fully updated version
17.10 still shows the problem. It looks like the bug is fixed from
version 18.04 on, so I will update to Xubuntu 18.04.1 soon.

Thank you for your efforts
Markus

[Bug 1777420] [NEW] Login loop after inactivity in login screen

2018-06-18 Thread Yanpas
Public bug reported:

I have Kubuntu 18.04 installed with /home/$USER directory using
ecryptfs. As a display manager I use standard sddm and sddm-locker. If I
leave my PC for a weekend powered on and locked then I'm unable to log
in on monday.

When I enter correct password in sddm - it prints that I entered
incorrect password. If I switch to any virtual terminal and try to login
there I'm immediately thrown out of session back to login prompt. That's
what I see in logs:

auth.log:

[Bug 1774431] Re: rpc.rquotad takes 100% CPU

2018-06-18 Thread  Christian Ehrhardt 
Hi Lukasz,
it is a flaky test in this case.
On one hand there is no quota usage in this test (boot-smoke failed last).
Further different subtests fail on different retries.

Thanks for asking, but for now we can only ignore it and go on or retrigger
until green.
I takled to xnox about it but there seems not too much he can do about it atm.
We want the coverage of the working tests, but some are flaky (some more than
others).

I retriggered it for now and usually it is 1/3 passing, but murphy ...

[Bug 1777418] [NEW] crash on armhf (autopkgtest)

Public bug reported:

Found in:

/autopkgtest-cosmic/cosmic/armhf/p/pgpool2/20180616_121023_27258@/log.gz

The issue seems to be a reproducible segfault on armhf
2018-06-18 07:17:33: pid 21486: WARNING: child process with pid: 21518 was
terminated by segmentation fault
2018-06-18 07:17:33: pid 21486: LOG: fork a new child process with pid: 21537

DebCI tests only x86 https://ci.debian.net/packages/p/pgpool2/

The test is also re-reproducible on reruns and leaves a crash file.
Ugly test environment (many preocesses, env and timing dependent) took a while
to reproduce in gdb with useful output.

Note: 2018-05-30 10:05:43: pid 6519: LOG: pool_send_and_wait: Error or notice

I thought it would have been an artifact of the apport/crash recovery.
But in live gdb it has the same issue to resolve which call it was.

[Bug 1777395] Re: [bionic] Dell precision touchpad RMB no longer works

2018-06-18 Thread Oded Arbel
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1759300 ***

After several upgrades/downgrades of libinput and reboots, including
setting up xinput quirks according to
http://www.dell.com/support/article/ca/en/cabsdt1/sln308258/precision-
xps-ubuntu-general-touchpad-mouse-issue-fix?lang=en, the problem seems
to have gone away and the touchpad correctly reports RMB clicks.

[Bug 1777413] [NEW] snapd does not use system proxy settings

And I guess it's because I'm behind a proxy, and most things don't seem to read
the system proxy settings.

This is Ubuntu18.

Perhaps the control-panel thingy should be setting the https_proxy
environment variable(s)?

[Bug 1777412] [NEW] security group rule list only looks via IDs (but --help says names should work)

2018-06-18 Thread Alvaro Uría
Public bug reported:

On a trusty env, I tried to list security group rules by name, but it
failed.

https://pastebin.ubuntu.com/p/NRFfdYmf5s/

As a workaround, IDs can be searched and rules be listed by ID
1) openstack security group list | egrep name # double-check project id matches
the instance
2) openstack security group rule list

It would be useful to be able to look by name and return an error in
case of ambiguity (ie. two secgroups with the same name on different
tenants).

Furthermore, having a "--project " parameter would also be
useful in both "security group list" and "rule list".

Thank you
-Alvaro.

[Bug 1768905] Re: package menu 2.1.47ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: dependency problems - leaving triggers unprocessed

2018-06-18 Thread Julian Andres Klode
I have not heard about any regressions in proposed, so I think we should
start releasing the update for bionic and artful now and watch out for
those in the release pocket. If we don't see issues with that, we can
then roll out xenial next week to give it some more time to mature in a
less used release.

2018-06-18 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
Since this is an errors.u.c based bug I will release it as is (since I
don't see any occurrences of the crash for the -proposed version), but
next time please be sure to always include some information about the
testing as otherwise the verification might not be accepted. We're
looking for things like: package version used and what tests have been
performed.

Thanks for all the testing! There's one systemd autopkgtest failure

those tend to be flaky, but I'd like someone taking a look at that

[Bug 1777395] [NEW] [bionic] Dell precision touchpad RMB no longer works

2018-06-18 Thread Oded Arbel
Public bug reported:

Using the clickable touchpad on the Dell Precision 5520, the "right
mouse button" (an area marked on the bottom right of the touchpad) no
longer produces an RMB event when clicked. This used to work in Artful.

More details:
The Dell Precision touchpad is "clickable" - i.e. when pressed firmly it
produces a click sound and triggers an LMB event even without raising the
finger from the touchpad. This allows you to move the cursor around quickly and
clicking on things without having to stop and raise your finger from the
surface.

Additionally, the touchpad has a marked bottom area that is split into
two horizontally. When clicking (not tapping) on the right part of the
bottom area, it should simulate a right mouse button click, while on the
left part it should simulate a left mouse button click. This used to
work well under Artful, but does no longer work in Bionic - both sides
produce a left click (with some caveats, the left side doesn't seem to
work so well, but that is probably another issue).

When running libinput-debug-events, the output clearly shows that the
touchpad "right mouse button" clearly sends RMB events:

 event11 POINTER_MOTION +33.83s0.00/ 1.19
 event11 POINTER_MOTION +33.85s0.00/ 0.99
 event11 POINTER_BUTTON +38.62s BTN_RIGHT (273) pressed, seat count: 1
 event11 POINTER_BUTTON +38.80s BTN_RIGHT (273) released, seat count: 0
 event11 POINTER_BUTTON +39.35s BTN_RIGHT (273) pressed, seat count: 1
 event11 POINTER_BUTTON +39.56s BTN_RIGHT (273) released, seat count: 0
 event11 POINTER_BUTTON +40.02s BTN_RIGHT (273) pressed, seat count: 1
 event11 POINTER_BUTTON +40.19s BTN_RIGHT (273) released, seat count: 0
 event11 POINTER_MOTION +42.66s -0.73/ 0.73
 event11 POINTER_MOTION +42.67s -0.60/ 0.60

None the less, X11 doesn't seem to recognize this - xev output shows:

[Bug 1777395] Re: [bionic] Dell precision touchpad RMB no longer works

2018-06-18 Thread Oded Arbel
Reading into it a bit, it could be an issue with libinput, which Bionic
ships version 1.10 (over Artful's 1.8).

[Bug 1748839] Re: Problem to connect to WPA2/PEAP WIFI - gnome-shell

2018-06-18 Thread Lauwie
I have the same issue with (a clean/full wipe/ fresh install) Ubuntu
18.04 on a Dell XPS 15 9550.

Previously, on Ubuntu 16.04 downgrading wpa_supplicant to version 2.1
helped resolve this. See here: https://askubuntu.com/questions/690032

However, downgrading further then 2.6 is as far as I know not possible
on Ubuntu 18.04, see my related question:

[Bug 1777392] [NEW] atril prints cmyk PDF with inverted colors

2018-06-18 Thread Borut Mrak
Public bug reported:

Hello,

Since upgrading to Ubuntu 18.04, I'm having trouble printing PDFs in
CMYK colorspace from atril.

The same PDFs printed OK with atril on the same machine when on 17.10,
they print OK on other machines with 16.04 (with evince though), and
they also print OK on 18.04 from command line (lpr -P PRINTER_NAME
file.pdf). I was only able to reproduce the issue with atril.

The printer is a HP LaserJet Pro 400, also tried on a Lexmark E260dn, so
it's not a printer or driver issue (different printer manufacturers).

I do not want to post the PDFs in the bug report, but I can send them
privately. They are 100% CMYK (/DeviceCMYK) as are the included images.

Please contact me if there is any further information needed or anything
I can try, I'm very interested to resolve this as it interferes with my
workflow a lot.

Best regards,
Borut Mrak

[Bug 1777378] Re: [nvidia] GDM no longer presents GUI login Ubuntu 18.04

2018-06-18 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I wonder if the kernel upgrade on 2018-06-13 broke your kernel command
line, which would prevent the nvidia driver from working...

Please add "nomodeset" to the lines:

  GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"
  GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=""

of /etc/default/grub and then run:

  sudo update-grub

and reboot.
