[Bug 1767299] Re: Ubuntu 18.04 Installer creates swap partition too small
I wonder if it is an opinion that the number of companies using Ubuntu on laptops might be reduced starting with 18.04 considering the amount of extra effort to write a completely custom partman recipe with a larger swap (or assuming the answer above works in the preseed to actually get the old behavior of 100% or so) in order to use hibernation to conserve battery life, since suspend still tends to run a battery down fairly quickly, and those that don't have access to power now have to shut down their machines completely losing their working state rather than being able to quickly hibernate and resume. It makes me sad that rather than reuse a preseed that has worked across multiple previous releases of Ubuntu without alteration I now have to come up with a partman recipe to handle whether I need an EFI partition or not as well as how large to make each individual partition including the swap. I feel like introducing a new recipe or at least making it opt-in for the change rather than automatically breaking existing preseeds for everyone. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1767299 Title: Ubuntu 18.04 Installer creates swap partition too small To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/partman-auto/+bug/1767299/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

That is, was the file system mounted at the time when you ran resize2fs? #2 Can you post a copy of dumpe2fs before you started to resize? #3 How big were you trying to resize the file system to become? [Bug 1778264] Re: delete file in a usb device
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1778264/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1778225] Re: Can't switch UI language for single users, only system-wide
/etc/default/locale and ~/.pam_environment are the only files which are written to via the GUIs, and both of them look normal to me. The locale output, however, is not consistent with those files. With that ~/.pam_environment file it ought to look like this: LANG=en_US.UTF-8 LANGUAGE=en LC_CTYPE="en_US.UTF-8" LC_NUMERIC=de_DE.UTF-8 LC_TIME=de_DE.UTF-8 LC_COLLATE="en_US.UTF-8" LC_MONETARY=de_DE.UTF-8 LC_MESSAGES="en_US.UTF-8" LC_PAPER=de_DE.UTF-8 LC_NAME=de_DE.UTF-8 LC_ADDRESS=de_DE.UTF-8 LC_TELEPHONE=de_DE.UTF-8 LC_MEASUREMENT=de_DE.UTF-8 LC_IDENTIFICATION=de_DE.UTF-8 LC_ALL= So the variables set by ~/.pam_environment seem to be overridden somehow by settings somewhere else. Actually, I see in the attached ProcEnviron.txt file that every single locale category has been set explicitly (to German) - also variables which are not set by any of those two files such as LC_CTYPE and LC_MESSAGES. [Bug 1778219] Re: unattended-upgrades hangs on shutdown, leaves system in a broken state
This is not a bug in unattended-upgrades, but u-u triggers the problem in many packages which are not able to install/upgrade during a system shutdown. Helper scripts in init-system-helpers must not start services when maintainer scripts are executed during shutdown and maintainer scripts must use helper scripts and not call systemct and friends directly to start services. Snapd for example calls systemctl start "$unit" in postinst. Thank you for the bug report. I marked it "Confirmed for u-u" to not let it disappear, but u-u is just triggering the issue and it can't be fixed in u-u. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1778219 Title: unattended-upgrades hangs on shutdown, leaves system in a broken state To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/init-system-helpers/+bug/1778219/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: I own the Razer Blade 15 (2018) laptop with the Microsoft Precision Track pad, and the 4.16 or the 4.17 kernel was not able to detect the track pad. However, the 4.17 kernel didn't work with my WiFi card, so went back to 4.16. I have included my ~/dmesg, ~/devices, /var/log/Xorg.0.log. Just going through it myself, it appears that 'Razer Razer Blade' is sometimes being tagged as a mouse ([ 326.038] (II) event11 - Razer Razer Blade: is tagged by udev as: Mouse). [Bug 1778274] [NEW] snd_hda_codec_realtek hdaudioC0D0: Unable to sync register
Public bug reported: Hi. I'm running Ubuntu MATE 16.04 running kernel `4.4.0-128-generic`. Since applying updates this morning I'm now unable to shut my machine down cleanly. If I shut down or restart, the error `snd_hda_codec_realtek hdaudioC0D0: unable to sync register` is output 3 times and the machine doesn't power down. I have to finish the shutdown manually by holding the power button. Wasn't sure which debug steps to follow for this error, but this is the corresponding extract from `/var/log/kern.log`: ``` Jun 22 21:14:04 leonard kernel: [ 37.378508] snd_hda_codec_hdmi hdaudioC0D2: Unable to sync register 0x2f0d00. -5 Jun 22 21:14:04 leonard kernel: [ 37.378876] snd_hda_codec_hdmi hdaudioC0D2: HDMI: invalid ELD buf size -1 Jun 22 21:14:04 leonard kernel: [ 37.379239] snd_hda_codec_hdmi hdaudioC0D2: HDMI: invalid ELD buf size -1 Jun 22 21:14:04 leonard kernel: [ 37.379602] snd_hda_codec_hdmi hdaudioC0D2: HDMI: invalid ELD buf size -1 Jun 22 21:14:04 leonard kernel: [ 37.405753] snd_hda_codec_realtek hdaudioC0D0: Unable to sync register 0x2b8000. -5 Jun 22 21:14:04 leonard kernel: [ 37.405873] snd_hda_codec_realtek hdaudioC0D0: Unable to sync register 0x2b8000. -5 Jun 22 21:14:04 leonard NetworkManager[904]: [1529698444.9269] ModemManager disappeared from bus ``` I made the report using `ubuntu-bug linux` so hopefully this will provide the necessary debug info.
