Public bug reported: grabbing a slide in the side pane with the left-mouse click and moving it up or down, many times results in the slide being deleted upon click release. this bug has been around for ages. in all the years i have noticed that, unconsciously, i trained myself to use only right-click menus, ie moving the slide by making "cut" first and then "paste" in another location... [Bug 1778351] Re: Xorg freeze
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your bug report is missing crash details. In order to debug a crash we will need a crash report. To create one, please follow these steps: 1. If you are not running a future development release of Ubuntu then apply the workaround from bug 994921. 2. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport. 3. If the crash is in Xorg then uncomment this option from /etc/gdm3/custom.conf: # Additionally lets the X server dump core if it crashes #Enable=true 4. Reboot. 5. Reproduce the crash. 6. Look in /var/crash for crash files and when found, run: ubuntu-bug /var/crash/YOURFILE.crash 7. Add a comment here telling us the ID of the new bug that was created in step 6. Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments, and doing so is also a security risk for yourself. ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1778351 Title: Xorg freeze To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1778351/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1663280] Re: Serious performance degradation of math functions
Florian, (Apologies for the delay in getting back to you.) I haven't checked __regcall in detail, but I still see the degradation in the pow and exp examples from the bug description. They're all compiled with GCC and don't use any code compiled with ICC. If my understanding is correct, that should rule out the __regcall convention? [Bug 1752772] Re: r8169 ethernet card don't work after returning from suspension
Update: although the Ethernet issue is resolved on my hardware, the Wi- Fi interface ("Intel Corporation Wireless 8265 / 8275 (rev 78)" using iwlwifi according to lspci -v) now seems to be unstable after suspend (reboot required to bring interface up). [Bug 1774950] Re: Suspend fails in Ubuntu and Kubuntu 18.04 but works fine in Ubuntu and Kubuntu 17.10 (and on Kubuntu 18.04 using kernel 4.14.47)
Thanks for the response. I'm on last year's model with a Core i5-7300U CPU @ 2.60GHz. A couple further notes for me: It seems some users are reporting 100% repeatable failures. Mine are intermittent; so, it's a bit harder to tell if things have started working again. My failure mode might be slightly different as well. Sometimes, the machine fails to go in to a suspend. In this case, it starts to go to sleep, gives me a "greyed out" screen (screen goes blank but doesn't turn off) with a cursor, and stays there for several minutes and then pops up at the login prompt. This is obnoxious, but at least hasn't led to data loss and is reasonably easy to recognize. The second failure mode is more like you describe and is much more serious. The machine appears to have gone to sleep (screen turns off, not sure about other indicators. I don't normally pay attention to them). I put it in my bag, take it out, and at least one occasion realize it has been running because it's hot (though there were other failures where I didn't notice this, but then I was also biking through a chilly night, so maybe that kept it cool?) It does not wake up, and a forced shutdown with the power button is required. About a week ago, I installed the tlp package with --install-suggests, which might be a contributor? I'm sure I experienced at least one of the "greyed out" failures prior to that, but I don't think any of the "black out/hard lock" failures, though I only upgraded to 18.04 about 2 weeks ago. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1774950 Title: Suspend fails in Ubuntu and Kubuntu 18.04 but works fine in Ubuntu and Kubuntu 17.10 (and on Kubuntu 18.04 using kernel 4.14.47) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1774950/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 1772154] Re: Unstable WiFi adapter Gigabyte GC-WB867D-I
I have tried the latest firmware on v4.18-rc1 (ce397d215ccd07b8ae3f71db689aedb85d56ab40) and the problem seems to persist: 7399 packets transmitted, 5704 received, 22% packet loss, time 7446041ms rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 1.431/5.948/1057.709/36.507 ms, pipe 2 It is hard to tell for sure, but even though there still is a considerable number of lost packets, stability seems a bit better. It might be worth noting that the same problem has now appeared on Win10 after the April 2018 update. The latest Intel 8265 from the 14th of June doesn't seem to do any good (microcode update?). Please advise on how to proceed. Thanks. Best regards, Gabriele On Fri, 8 Jun 2018 at 20:01, Kai-Heng Feng wrote: > There are lots of new commits in iwlwifi since v4.17-rc6. [Bug 1776642] Re: Temporal dithering started appearing on Intel HD 530 graphics
Concurrent with the temporal dithering, I have also noticed general poor graphical performance with the affected kernels. E.g. 50fps and 60fps video playback is choppy, sometimes slow redraw and other graphical glitches on UI elements. Like the temporal dithering, these additional problems disappear if I revert to 4.13.0-41. ** Description changed: I am experiencing a regression in linux-image-generic-hwe-16.04 with Intel HD Graphics 530 (Core i5-6600T), starting in 4.13.0-43 (considering only kernels which appear in my GRUB menu). Some form of spatio-temporal dithering has been enabled. This is causing a shimmering effect and visible dithering patterns (like woven textile) which are noticeable on photographs and areas of similar colour. 1px borders in the UI can appear to have a "marching ants" effect. The effect is visible both under Xorg and in a virtual console (Ctrl+Alt+F1), if the displayed colours are suitable to trigger it. Booting 4.13.0-41 eliminates the temporal dithering. - This occurs on a (presumed) 6bpp laptop LCD panel, so dithering is necessary, but in previous kernels only a form of spatial dithering is applied, which is less visually obvious. - --- + This occurs on a (presumed) 6bpp laptop LCD panel, so dithering is + necessary, but in previous kernels only a form of spatial dithering is + applied, which is less visually obvious. + + Concurrent with the temporal dithering, I have also noticed general poor graphical performance with the affected kernels. [Bug 1762595] Re: Thunar incorrectly thinks USB storage device hasn't finished ejecting
Packaging debdiff to include the upstream patch ** Description changed: + [Impact] + + * This bug affects Thunar, and likely other file managers relying on + udisks2. + + * When ejecting a USB disk, the disk ejects normally. However, Thunar + does not detect that it was successfully ejected. + + * The "Writing data to device" notification will be displayed for some + time. + + * Eventually, Thunar pops up an error dialog saying 'Failed to eject + "". Timeout was reached.' + + * Thunar will sometimes also exit at this point. + + * It has been determined that the upstream patch included in this + upload resolves this error. + + [Test Case] + + 1. Mount a partition of a USB hard disk or flash drive. + + 2. Using the eject button in the Thunar window sidebar, eject the + mounted partition of the USB HDD. + + 3. The disk will spin down and eject normally. The "Writing data to + device" notification will be displayed until an error dialog saying + 'Failed to eject "". Timeout was reached.' + + [Regression Potential] + + * Regression potential is very minimal. The patch is from upstream + gvfs, contains a single line change, and applies only to the drive + stopping event. + + [Original Report] + $ lsb_release -rd - Description:Ubuntu 18.04 LTS - Release:18.04 + Description: Ubuntu 18.04 LTS + Release: 18.04 $ apt-cache policy thunar thunar: - Installed: 1.6.15-0ubuntu1 - Candidate: 1.6.15-0ubuntu1 - Version table: - *** 1.6.15-0ubuntu1 500 - 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic/universe amd64 Packages - 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status + Installed: 1.6.15-0ubuntu1 + Candidate: 1.6.15-0ubuntu1 + Version table: + *** 1.6.15-0ubuntu1 500 + 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic/universe amd64 Packages + 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status Steps to reproduce: 1) Mount a partition of a USB harddisk 2) Using the eject button in the Thunar window sidebar, eject the mounted partition of the USB HDD. 3) After the USB HDD is ejected and spins down, unplug it . At (2), the disk ejects normally. But Thunar thinks it hasn't been ejected and is still trying to eject. The "Writing data to device" notification continues to display. Eventually, Thunar pops up an error dialog saying 'Failed to eject "". Timeout was - reached.' Sometimes Thunar will exit after this. + reached.' Sometimes Thunar will exit after this. Same thing happens with some USB flash drives, so the bug can also be tested with a pendrive. ** Patch added: "cosmic debdiff" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/1762595/+attachment/5156160/+files/gvfs_1.36.1-0ubuntu2_to_ubuntu3.debdiff -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1762595 Title: Thunar incorrectly thinks USB storage device hasn't finished ejecting To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/1762595/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
