[Bug 1779320] [NEW] 2018.06.29 apturl and apturl-kde don't work on Kubuntu 18.04
Public bug reported: Hello, In Kubuntu 18.04, nothing appends when clicking on an apturl link in Firefox 60. Instead, it should have open the apturl window interface. 2018.06.29, no package apturl-kde available for Bionic (18.04). One simple alternative, to install a package with an apt link on Firefox, use "plasma-discover". What has been done: - Fresh install Kubuntu 18.04, config and update; - Remove Firefox; - Install Firefox-plasma (Firefox + kde integration); - Install apturl; - Config apturl in Firefox: In Firefox page about:config, add 5 parameters: Charnetwork.protocol-handler.app.aptvalue /usr/bin/apturl Charnetwork.protocol-handler.app.apt+http Value /usr/bin/apturl Boolean network.protocol-handler.warn-external.apt Value false Boolean network.protocol-handler.warn-external.apt+http Value false Boolean network.protocol-handler.expose.apt Value false In Firefox, click on an apt link, config window "Launch application" with /usr/bin/apturl and select "Remember choice". The process apturl starts and failed few seconds later. Alternative, in the window "Launch application", write "plasma-discover" and select "Remember choice". Plasma-discover works but is slow. Apturl-kde in Kubuntu 14.04 was an ideal solution. Can someone fix apturl and apturl-kde for kubuntu 18.04? [Bug 1773363] Re: glibc 2.27-3ubuntu1 ADT test failure with linux 4.17.0-1.2+signed1

[Bug 1779305] [NEW] Sluggish performance as Xen dom0
Public bug reported: 1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System -> About Ubuntu 16.04 LTS 2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy pkgname' or by checking in Software Center Tried booting various versions between the 4.13.0-lowlatency and 4.15.0-lowlatency versions. Can confirm the problem appears on all 4.15.0 versions (e.g., 4.15.0-13), but is not present on any 4.13.0 version (e.g., 4.13.0-45). The version of Xen used is 4.9.0-0ubuntu3. I believe this isn't in Xenial's repositories, but actually from a later Ubuntu release, since I wanted some features of Xen that weren't in Xenial's version. Bisecting the commits narrowed down to the issue appearing after http://kernel.ubuntu.com/git/ubuntu/ubuntu-xenial.git/commit/?h=hwe- edge&id=a62a7117d91ca83d319566cbe16039f4e9f413c2 was committed. In fact, after recompiling and running the latest hwe-edge kernel (4.15.0-23) with that commit reverted, the problem disappears. This kernel is attached. I also intend to test the mainline kernel, but I haven't gotten around to it yet 3/4) What you expected to happen/What happened instead The newer kernel to not be significantly slower than the older kernel (I'm aware of Meltdown/Spectre mitigations causing slowdowns, but it should not be *this* much slower). Specifically, after upgrading to a 4.15.0 kernel from 4.13.0, I noticed these behaviours: - Time to log in via lightdm seems to have doubled in time or more (I did not actually time it, but it is taking significantly longer) - Scrolling in the Processes tab of system-monitor is noticeably choppy and laggy - The "user experience" in general seems to be laggy - Running a game in a Windows domU (with passthrough GPU) resulted in ~25% of the original FPS Interestingly, if I boot on bare metal (i.e., without Xen), the problem does not manifest. My $0.02. [Bug 1778694] Re: In autoreport mode in whoopsie-preferences API, reports are not sent by whoopsie
The changes described make sense to me, thanks. 1) The 'No compute node record for host phanpy: ComputeHostNotFound_Remote: Compute host phanpy could not be found.' message is benign, this message appears on first start of the `nova- compute` service. For me, the "send filter" add-on is no more related to this topic. What I described is just the normal behaviour of the current Thunderbird. [Bug 1771914] Re: release-upgrade-motd can't update message via apt proxy
** Description changed: [Impact] apt proxy settings are not applied to https urls, and thus the release-upgrade-motd script fails, and upgrades from bionic to new versions won't be detected either, if you need to use a proxy. This is a regression from the 1:18.04.6 upload which switched changelogs.ubuntu.com from http to https. [Test case] - Set acquire::http::proxy to a non-existing host, e.g. http://invalid.invalid/, and check that the upgrade fails. + Set acquire::http::proxy to a non-existing host, e.g. http://invalid.invalid/, and check that the tool fails. Do the same with acquire::https::proxy. + + (Kind of a reverse check, since I don't have a proxy setup to test + against. If there's an actual proxy and otherwise, no internet, it can + be verified by setting the actual proxy and checking that it works with + it). [Regression potential] The fix changes the API of init_proxy() in UpdateManager/Core/utils.py to make it return a dict with 'http' and 'https' members rather than just a string. It seems the return value is only used by the test case, though, so that should be fine. Apart from that, it also allows https proxies now, since we're doing https anyway, which means that a proxy setting ignored before now is not. The same applies to the the new proxy variables used - they were not used before, so things might fail that used to work - like you specify an invalid https proxy but don't actually need one. Low risk, though. - [Original bug report] I have configured apt proxy in apt.conf.d and apt update and apt install can work correctly. However, when I logged in system everyday, in the login message, it says: Failed to connect to https://changelogs.ubuntu.com/meta-release-lts. Check your Internet connection or proxy settings After further investigation, I found the the issue is caused in package python3-update-manager: python3-update-manager: /usr/lib/python3/dist- packages/UpdateManager/Core/utils.py In the init_proxy function of the python script, it only set a http proxy by below code: proxy_support = ProxyHandler({"http": proxy}) after changing the line to add https proxy, it can work: proxy_support = ProxyHandler({"http": proxy, "https":proxy}) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1771914 Title: release-upgrade-motd can't update message via apt proxy To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-manager/+bug/1771914/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
