Regression potential: To ease the regression analysis, we can split the patchset in 3 different set of patches: the dts files, the lan driver and the wifi driver. 1) the dts files (patches 0001 to 0006) - Patch 0001 contains the pi3bplus board dts files + the lan dts fragment - these are brand new files, and no modification is done to any dts in the tree - Patches 0002 to 0005 are the backports modifcation to make the above dts file work in our 4.4 kernel - Patch 006 is a fix for the bcm2708_common dts file, included in every RaspberryPi dtb generated - it's a small fix, and the same modification is prensent in the 4.9+ Raspberry dts files too (see https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/blob/rpi-4.9.y/arch/arm/boot/dts/bcm283x.dtsi aroud lines 353-354). + Patch 0001 contains the pi3bplus board dts files + the lan dts fragment - these are new files, and don't modify any other dts in the tree. + Patches 0002 to 0005 are the fixup modifcation to make the above dts file work in our 4.4 kernel. + Patch 006 is a fix for the bcm2708_common dts file - it's a small fix, and the same modification is present in the 4.9+ Raspberry respository too (see https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/blob/rpi-4.9.y/arch/arm/boot/dts/bcm283x.dtsi aroud lines 353-354). The only regression potential here is patch 0006, but since it's a small - fix, and it's even carried in newer kernels, i mark it as low. + fix, and it's even carried upstream in newer kernels, i mark it as low. 2) the lan driver (patches 0008 to 0018) The rpi3bplus comes with a brand new gigabit capable ethernet adapter, - driven by the lan 7515 chip, a chip mainly used in those usb to ethernet - adapter. While doing this enablement work, i found that the lan7515 - driver shipped in our Xenial tree was not working: the driver would - attach to the hardware, the interface would show up, packets could be - sent, but host os never received any - sniffing the ethernet cable - confirmed that traffic was generated, but we the nic was 'deaf'. By - adding some debugging in the lan7515 driver, i found out that no - interrupt was generated once a package arrived and after some more - debugging, i found that reverting the upstream stable + driven by the lan 7515 chip, a chip mainly used in usb to ethernet + adapter. Unfortunately, the lan7515 driver shipped in our Xenial tree + was not working: the driver would attaches, the interface shows up, + packets could be sent, but the host os never receives anything - + sniffing the cable confirmed that traffic was generated, but we the NIC + was 'deaf'. After some debugging i found that no interrupt was generated + once any packet arrives and that was due to upstream 23374573a899528a4b10d76276646f69b7ae1572 "lan78xx: Correctly indicate - invalid OTP", would bring my board back to life (patch 0008). + invalid OTP", reverting this would bring my ethernet back to life (patch + 0008. "lan78xx: Correctly indicate invalid OTP" originated around 4.17, way after a complete overhaul of the phy code wad done for all the usbnet driver - after more debugging i found that the 4.4 driver ships a workaround to enable phy interrupts (see lan78xx_open()). All the other patches (0009 to 0018) are backports of features added to the driver by the Raspberry Foundation, to make the driver better integrates in a dts environment. There's no regression potential here, since the driver was not working in the first place, and all the other Raspberry boards use a different ethernet driver/chip. - 3) the wifi driver + 3) the wifi driver (patches 0019 to 0024) - The wifi chip used in the rpi3bplus is the same one used in the original - rpi3 board, but while here i decided to backports all the isolated fixes - that made it into 4.9. + The wifi chip used in the rpi3bplus is slightly different from the one + used in the original rpi3 board (), but uses the same driver: i + backported several fixes from the Raspberry tree to make it work... [Bug 1783140] Re: KVM live migration fails
Thanks, that makes sense. Not sure what is broken atm, so at least for a while I'll rely on you doing the tests. [Bug 1772038] Re: ubuntu/xubuntu 18.04 kernel crash during install.
I have a similar HP dc5800 machine. Booting from 4.15 kernel after upgrade to Ubuntu 18.04 results in very quick kernel crash (less than 1 second), as does booting from the Ubuntu 18.04 "desktop" install DVD. In both cases booting with "acpi=off noapic" added to the kernel boot parameters works fine, except that the machine does not power down after "/sbin/shutdown -P". Notes and changelog. https://ceph.com/releases/v12-2-7-luminous-released/ [Impact] New upstream point release 12.2.7 This is the fifth bugfix release of Luminous v12.2.x long term stable release series. This release contains a range of bug fixes across all compoenents of Ceph. We recommend all the users of 12.2.x series to update. [Test Case] See the changelog with individual bugs with numbers and links to them where available. [Regression Potential] Note again from previous released version 12.2.3: If someone update and restart any MDS (jewel or luminous before 12.2.3 to 12.2.3 or later, then all MDS's not yet running the new version and not aware of feature bit 9 will suicide. Operators may ignore the error messages and continue upgrading/restarting or follow this upgrade sequence to avoid it: Reduce the number of ranks to 1 (ceph fs set max_mds 1), wait for all other MDS to deactivate, leaving the one active MDS, upgrade the single active MDS, then upgrade/start standbys. Finally, restore the previous max_mds. Need good testing to make sure it is correct and stable, compared with previous version, before moving forward. Running earlier versions cause a higher risk to encounter an issue that have already been corrected. [Discussion] Please correct this description when needed. [Bug 1783140] Comment bridged from LTC Bugzilla
--- Comment From xxd...@de.ibm.com 2018-07-30 10:24 EDT--- The host (KVM hypervisor) is 16.04. So you suggest to install newer UCA qemu on the hypervisors. That is something I have to decline today. Those hosts are runnung some more VMs. So to update the hypervisors I need a service window aggreed with my customers. And I have to stay on a kind of supported mainstream level, no experimental stuff. Until then I can do some tests with some guest VMs. Or someone other has a test environment where he/she can play also with the hypervisors. As I mentioned: the problem is reproducible ! -- So now I did another test with a 16.04 guest. The problem gets worse, but maybe it helps in catching the bug. I did a new installation of a VM with Ubuntu 16.04.5 LTS, kernel 4.4.0-131-generic #157-Ubuntu SMP. Live migration succeeded. Then I installed linux-generic-hwe-16.04. The system booted with kernel 4.15.0-29-generic #31~16.04.1-Ubuntu SMP. And live migration failed: # virsh migrate --persistent --live p8lnxtst1 qemu+ssh://pkvm1/system error: internal error: early end of file from monitor, possible problem: 2018-07-30T14:13:34.381447Z qemu-system-ppc64: VQ 0 size 0x100 Guest index 0x302 inconsistent with Host index 0x16c: delta 0x196 2018-07-30T14:13:34.381496Z qemu-system-ppc64: error while loading state for instance 0x0 of device 'pci@8002000:01.0/virtio-net' 2018-07-30T14:13:34.381806Z qemu-system-ppc64: load of migration failed: Operation not permitted It is still very reproducible! This means the new hwe kernel introduced the problem !!! Or it is just not compatible with 4.4.0-130-generic of the KVM hypervisor. [Bug 1784395] [NEW] Geolocation stopped working recently in chromium
Public bug reported: At some point during the month of July 2018, the geolocation service stopped working in all ubuntu versions of chromium (I'm currently testing on the latest stable, 68.0.3440.75). This can be observed by browsing to https://html5demos.com/geo, authorizing the browser to access the position information when prompted, and observing that the page consistently fails to find the location. The same issue has been reported for ArchLinux packages: https://groups.google.com/a/chromium.org/forum/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=footer#!msg /chromium-packagers/1LDZZnYJ0SU/OCCtVl78BQAJ. It appears Google now requires API key owners to enable billing (despite the fact that geolocation is supposedly a free service), and this hasn't been done for the API key used in Ubuntu packages. ** Affects: chromium-browser (Ubuntu) Importance: High Assignee: Olivier Tilloy (osomon) Status: New ** Changed in: chromium-browser (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Olivier Tilloy (osomon) ** Changed in: chromium-browser (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1784395 Title: Geolocation stopped working recently in chromium To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/1784395/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

This can happen without pulseaudio requesting it, so if we want to have strict equivalence "sink/source suspended" == "audio state is 'playing'" (and I think we want that), then it makes sense that module-bluetooth-device unsuspends the sink/source. The problem here is that there's no clean "force unsuspend" mechanism in pulseaudio. pa_sink_suspend(u->sink, FALSE, PA_SUSPEND_IDLE|PA_SUSPEND_USER) may not actually unsuspend the sink, because there are also other suspend reasons than just IDLE and USER. So, depending on the situation, the sink may or may not get unsuspended. module-bluetooth-device could list all possible reasons in the pa_sink_suspend() call, but that would be ugly. When adding new suspend reasons, it would be very easy to forget to update the pa_sink_suspend() call in module-bluetooth-device, and besides, if those suspend reasons are originally set by some other code, the original reasons to suspend don't really disappear when module-bluetooth-device unsuspends the sink, the old reasons are just overridden. I think there should be a function for forcing unsuspending. The semantics would be such that the sink gets unsuspended regardless of any standing suspend reasons, but all standing suspend reasons would be remembered, and once a new suspend request would be made, the forced unsuspend would cease to have effect, the sink would suspend and things would return to normal. A related thing is that I would like to replace the single suspend reason bitfield in pa_sink with an individual suspend request object for each suspend request. The single suspend reason bitfield is prone to conflicts if multiple places use the same reason (for example, module- bluetooth-device uses the USER reason which is also used for other purposes). Correction: there is the PA_SUSPEND_ALL suspend cause. That looks like a good simple solution to this bug, even though it doesn't solve all the described problems. But at least it will reliably unsuspend the sink. [Bug 1766728] Re: update linux-base on xenial and earlier
Hello Thadeu, or anyone else affected, Accepted linux-base into trusty-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux- base/4.5ubuntu1~14.04.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository. Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how to enable and use -proposed.Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users. If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from verification-needed-trusty to verification-done-trusty. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed-trusty. In either case, without details of your testing we will not be able to proceed. Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification .
