[Bug 1708804] Re: notify-osd appears over sound menu

2018-08-18 Thread Theo Linkspfeifer
I can confirm that this happens with indicator-sound and notify-osd (or
xfce4-notifyd), but not with xfce4-pulseaudio-plugin which does not send
a notification when using its menu slider.

Is indicator-sound even supposed to show a notification in this case?

[Bug 1215524] Re: Thunderbird deletes messages rather than move them to Deleted

2018-08-18 Thread gf
Hello John. I have tested this with a testing GMAIL account on the
Thunderbird 60 (latest version - manual testing upgrade) and version
57.0b2 (available through beta upgrade channel). In these two versions,
the deleted emails go correctly to the trash bin.

Just to clarify,
In the account --> settings --> server settings,
under "Server Settings" section in the right hand pane, you have the following
Under “When I delete a message:”
you have selected the “move it to this folder:” option
and in the drop down to the right of this option,
you have selected “Gmail” and then “Trash”
Is that correct?

Could you also tell me what version of Ubuntu you have?
Thanks

[Bug 1338482] Re: Synaptic backend doesn't work in apturl

2018-08-18 Thread Vlad Orlov
Unfortunately, Synaptic backend still fails in 18.04, this time due to
absence of gksu. I'll try to adapt the patch to pkexec (which Synaptic
supports).

For Trusty and Xenial, the patch is working fine.

This has nothing to do with pinning, but with versions. And that's how

[Bug 1738630] Re: [improvement] xkb configuration cannot be extended without rebuilding xkb-data package

2018-08-18 Thread Rene Schickbauer
I've run into the same problem.

Yes, a "plugin"-type system would solve the problem.

To get in on par with other Xorg config stuff, it should be able to read
system wide configurations provided by the admin, but possibly also
enable user specific layouts from their home directory (so i don't have
to ask for root permission to reconfigure the keyboard layout when using
some elses Linux computer for a day, i can just install my config file
in ~/.config/xkb/* or whatever).

[Bug 1787713] Re: upgrade from 16.04 to 18.04 fails

2018-08-18 Thread Brian Murray
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The error that you are a reporting is a package conflict
between a package from the official Ubuntu archive and a package from
the ubuntu-toolchain-r test PPA. To resolve this situation please
uninstall the packages from that PPA using the tool 'ppa-purge' which is
provided by the ppa-purge package. Then try performing the distribution
upgrade operations again. Thanks in advance!

[Bug 1787757] [NEW] pinning doesn't recognizes releases names

2018-08-18 Thread Alfredo Rezinovsky
Public bug reported:

Because pinning doesn't recongnizes releases names and treats them
alphabetically it fails knowing which package is newest.

This failed because the alphabet has ended and release names started
again with A, B...

Eg: 13.2.1-1bionic seems as a downgrade for 13.2.1-1xenial when it's
really an upgrade.

[Bug 1787704] Re: sudo do-release-upgrade

2018-08-18 Thread Brian Murray
This is due in part to the ubuntu-toolchain test ppa you have enabled
and installed packages from. You'll need to us the tool ppa-purge from
the package ppa-purge to disable the PPA and downgrade the packages it
provides to the official ones from the Ubuntu archive. After you've done
this please try the upgrade again. Thanks and good luck!

[Bug 1787697] Re: Upgrade from 16.04 LTS to 18.04 LTS says it can't continue.

2018-08-18 Thread Brian Murray
You have installed packages from the ubuntu-toolchain test PPA and that
is preventing the upgrader from calculating the upgrade as there are
packages installed greater than the version in 18.04. Please use ppa-
purge, from the package ppa-purge, to remove that PPA and its packages
and then try the upgrade again.

** Summary changed:

- Upgrade from 16.04 LTS to 18.04 LTS says it can't continue.

2018-08-18 Thread Brian Murray
Looking at your log files you don't seem to have the linux-generic
package installed and it is failing to install due to a hold on the
package linux-headers-generic. Please resolve this issue by installing
linux-generic and upgrading linux-headers-generic and then trying the
upgrade again. Thanks!

[Bug 1764965] Re: [Realtek ALC1220 ASUS PRIME X370] Recording is very slow and plays 10x faster

2018-08-18 Thread Dan Loehr
@Jacopo, I think this problem may be an incompatibility issue between
the PulseAudio driver (if driver is the correct term) and the ALC1220
chipset/codec. I used this procedure to disable PulseAudio and found
that I could record normally (link follows):

https://kodi.wiki/view/PulseAudio/HOW-
TO:_Disable_PulseAudio_and_use_ALSA_(without_removing_PulseAudio)_for_Ubuntu

Disabling PulseAudio will also disable HDMI out. I use the affected
machine for home theater so I must enable PulseAudio for that. The
linked procedure is simple but requires some time and a reboot.
Ultimately, it would be nice for a computer coder (perhaps associated
with PulseAudio) to get PulseAudio to work with the ALC1220
chipset/codec.

[Bug 1782177] Re: Screen sometimes jumps to full brightness on resume from suspend

2018-08-18 Thread Theo Linkspfeifer
I would think that this is not Xfce specific, but a new bug in the Xorg
Intel driver or kernel code.

Things to test:

- installing/removing the xserver-xorg-video driver package (+ relog)
- booting the Xubuntu 18.10 daily ISO, trying to trigger the bug in live mode
- maybe even testing with a different distribution

Lastly, which Intel GPU is that exactly?

[Bug 1411431] Re: Make cupsd determine language based on LANG enviroment variable (at least) if nothing is set up in cupsd.conf

2018-08-18 Thread gf
Hello again Karl-Philipp, :)
Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with cups. You made
this bug report some time ago and Ubuntu and cups have been updated since then.

Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the
ticket?
If it is still a problem, are you still interested in finding a solution to
this bug?
If you are, could you let us know and, in the current version, could you run
the following (only once):
apport-collect 1411431
and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for this
particular issue.

Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu and cups better.
G

[Bug 800152] Re: Firefox uncorrect rendering of FreeSans accented carachter

2018-08-18 Thread Paul White
Livmion,

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. You reported this bug some
time ago and there have been many changes in Ubuntu and Firefox since
that time. Your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates.

It would help us a lot if you could test on a currently supported Ubuntu
version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the
updated logs by running only once in a terminal:

apport-collect 800152

and add any additional information that you think relevant.
Alternatively, please confirm that this is no longer a problem and that
we can close the report. If we do not hear from you this bug report will
close in approximately 60 days time.

Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu better.

[Bug 1782177] Re: Screen sometimes jumps to full brightness on resume from suspend

2018-08-18 Thread Luke Schlather
xset dpms force standby triggers the issue. When the screen turns on
it's full brightness (if I have the brightness set to the lowest
setting.) It doesn't cause any new dmesg output when I run that command.
