[Bug 1758548] Re: impossible to visualize: Book does not have a format available

2018-08-24 Thread freikland
Hi,

First, thank you very much for your help.
As for the special characters in French (é, è, à, ç, ë, ê ...) do not seem to
be the cause of the problem. Or did not I notice?

On the other hand, it is the change in the case of characters that is decisive:
Indeed, I did a test on a book saved in epub and ORIGINAL_epub formats.
Then, I copied this same title in the same library in epub format as well.

So, in duplicate. When opening in the editor for reading, no problem.

Then, I change the name of the author (First Name Last Name > First Name Last
NAME) on a copy and I save.
Well, the cover has disappeared, ditto for the book (both copies!?)
Only the opf file remains. If I try to open it, I get the following error:

 calibre, version 3.30.0
ERROR: Unable to open eBook: Failed to read the book, / media / m /

A priori, the problem originates from the management of lowercase and
uppercase by Calibre (Title > TITLE, First name Lastname > Firstname
LastNAME).

Have a great day.

[Bug 1752772] Re: r8169 ethernet card don't work after returning from suspension

2018-08-24 Thread Peter Smith
Yesterday, with my daily Ubuntu update, kernel 4.15.0-33 was installed.
Aha, I thought, perhaps now my Ethernet activation after suspension problem is
solved.
But no, it was not to be. Kernel 4.15.0-33 does not solve my problem.

And so I have once again reverted to the earlier kernel 4.13.0-31, where
everything works as it should and my Ethernet is reliably activated
after returning from suspension.

[Bug 1788981] [NEW] please drop dependency on obsolete qml-module-org-kde-kirigami

2018-08-24 Thread Steve Langasek
Public bug reported:

qml-module-org-kde-kirigami was dropped from Debian unstable on
2018-02-24 with the rationale that it is an "old version, no more used"
(Debian bug #891162). It is still in Ubuntu cosmic because plasma-sdk
depends on it.

If the Debian removal's rationale is correct, we should also remove it
from Ubuntu. Please adjust plasma-sdk to not depend on it, so it can be
removed.

** Affects: plasma-sdk (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 1786344] Re: 18.10 镜像无法输入中文

2018-08-24 Thread Ping-Wu
I tested the 2018.08.24 iso, when booted into simplified Chinese locale,
I can now select 智能拼音 (smart pinyin) to input Chinese characters.
However, this should be the DEFAULT, i.e., a Chinese user should be able
to input Chinese characters when selecting the Chinese locale, WITHOUT
any additional step.

As the 1810 iso stands now, a Chinese locale user will NOT be able to
type Chinese. This is no way to try to promote/market Ubuntu in China.

[Bug 1788973] [NEW] aa-logprof not useful in an lxd instance

2018-08-24 Thread Seth Arnold
Public bug reported:

Hello, aa-logprof doesn't do anything useful in an lxd instance:

First, I remove the /** mrixwlk, rule from the man profile, so I'll be
sure to have an easy way to create a denial. Then I generate a denial,
install aa-logprof, and run aa-logprof.

The aa-logprof output looks identical to a run with no denials at all.

I do not know what to suggest -- discovering we're in a container of
some sort and reporting that the tools might not work seems like the
best we can do, but that might be wrong in the future, and might not be
easy to get right today.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply.
Are you using special characters in the new name of the book?
For example, are you using any of these: è, é, ê, ë
Thanks

[Bug 1782579]

2018-08-24 Thread Walter Lapchynski
Chris, the issue of those menu options failing to work correctly because
(A) they were hardcoded to use xterm to open nmtui and (B) because xterm
wasn't installed and (C) because the default window size for qterminal
was too small has been solved for days. See
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nm-tray/+bug/1786978 for more
on that bug and the package versions that fixed them.

The issue of needing a normal, native GUI interface is still there,
though. That's what this bug is about. I guess more realistically, it's
a wishlist item.

I just clicked NM dialog on main screen on a daily image & noticed the

Tried kernel 4.18.3, but it panicked. I'll try other 4.18 and see if any
luck arises.

[Bug 1779761] Re: Ubuntu Kernel 4.15.0-24.26 causes php7.2-fpm.service to hang at boot

2018-08-24 Thread Nicolas Ramoudt
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1779827 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1779827

I recently experience exactly the same issue on a production server
(Linode vps solution). Reading this specific log starts to make sense
to me now. Started already a thread on
https://www.linode.com/community/questions/17135/php72-fpmservice-
failing-after-reboot-nginx-error-502

Issue started after migrating to a new vps plan but slower server. But
despite a slower system, the kernel here appeared automatically upgraded
to 4.17.17. Previous kernel was < 4.14 (but didn't know the exact
number because didn't pay attention to as at that time, it worked fine
then).

Symptoms are exactly the same:
php7.2-fpm.service: Start operation timed out. Terminating.
php7.2-fpm.service: Failed with result 'timeout'.
Failed to start The PHP 7.2 FastCGI Process Manager.

ssh login manually, do a "sudo service php7.2-fpm start" and then it
works...

[Bug 1788943] Re: after upgrade to xubuntu 18.04 from 16.04, gimp fails to launch...

2018-08-24 Thread Erich Eickmeyer
If you installed GIMP from outside the repos at any time before the
upgrade, it would make sense that it would be removed for compatibility
reasons. Also, any and all installations from outside the official repos
are not supported.

The reason GIMP 2.10 was not included in 18.04 is due to the fact that
GIMP 2.10 breaks MyPaint 1.2 due to a library compatibility issue. Since
MyPaint 1.2 and GIMP 2.8 are included in the Ubuntu Studio flavor, it
would have broken the entire flavor. Additionally, GIMP 2.10 was
released after the feature freeze.

So, until MyPaint releases a 1.3 version, 18.04 will be stuck with GIMP
2.8. Ubuntu 18.10 will contain GIMP 2.10, and as such MyPaint was
dropped from Ubuntu Studio until the bug is corrected. See
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gimp/+bug/1759625.

Since this bug and workaround involves installation from outside the
official Ubuntu repos, this bug is invalid.

[Bug 1788943] [NEW] after upgrade to xubuntu 18.04 from 16.04, gimp fails to launch...

2018-08-24 Thread BISI Sysadmin
Public bug reported:

I updated to xubuntu 18.04 a few days ago. First re-use of gimp (right
click on image and gimp is missing from the context menu) leads me to
discover gimp is no longer installed.

`which gimp` as user and as root does not find an executable

going to https://gimp.org shows me there is a new version, and
incidentally a new install method.

The method works. On the the gimp website, however, there is this
perfect description of the current situation with ubuntu, and a clear
request to take action. So, ubuntu, crew, please do the right thing.

I quote (emphasis added):

Once installed, it [gimp] will be made available exactly the same way as
other applications (menus, desktop overview, or any specific application
launch process used by your desktop).

*If this is not the case, we suggest to report a bug to your desktop or
distribution asking for proper support of flatpak*. In the meantime, you
can still run it by command line (not as the recommended method, only a
workaround):

flatpak run org.gimp.GIMP//stable

End of quote

So, the workaround to the bug is included. Very handy.

I would much prefer to be using the 2.10 release, with a proper install
/ distribution method, than the 2.8 release (and all the ppa nonsense
put out on the web).

Problem is just in qcow2 backed by physical drives, -- if no backing
file of it is just a file then all is ok. So, is it possible to disable
locking in such cases?

[Bug 1785610] Re: [18.10 FEAT] Upgrade cryptsetup >= 2.0.4

2018-08-24 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package cryptsetup - 2:2.0.4-2ubuntu1

---
cryptsetup (2:2.0.4-2ubuntu1) cosmic; urgency=low

  * Merge from Debian unstable. LP: #1785610.
  * Remaining changes:
- debian/control:
  + Recommend plymouth.
+ Invert the "busybox | busybox-static" Recommends, as the latter
is the one we ship in main as part of the ubuntu-standard task.
- Apply patch from Trent Nelson to fix cryptroot-unlock for busybox
  compatibility. LP: #1651818

cryptsetup (2:2.0.4-2) unstable; urgency=medium

  * debian/cryptsetup-initramfs.preinst: Don't try to overwrite
/etc/cryptsetup-initramfs/conf-hook if that file doesn't exist. (The fix
for #905188 broke 2:2.0.4-1's instability on sid.) Closes: #905514.
  * debian/control: Bump Standards-Version to 4.2.0 (no changes necessary).

cryptsetup (2:2.0.4-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * New upstream release. Add 'libblkid-dev' to Build-Depends since
libcryptsetup and utilities are now linked to libblkid.
  * debian/cryptsetup-initramfs.preinst: Improve conffile ownership transfer
from 'cryptsetup' to 'cryptsetup-initramfs' to comply with Policy §10.7.3.
(Closes: #905188.)

cryptsetup (2:2.0.3-7) unstable; urgency=medium

  * debian/scripts/gen-ssl-key: avoid storing temporary key file on disk.
  * debian/initramfs/*, debian/scripts/*: improve quoting.
  * debian/initramfs/cryptroot-unlock: Normalize paths before comparison.
This fixes usage on initramfs images with an usrmerge layout, such as
images made by mkinitramfs(8) from initramfs-tools-core 0.132. (Closes:
#904926.)
  * debian/functions: crypttab_find_entry(), crypttab_foreach_entry(): return
gracefully if $TABFILE doesn't exist.

[Bug 1787692] Re: package grub-efi-amd64-signed 1.93.4+2.02-2ubuntu8.3 failed to install/upgrade: installed grub-efi-amd64-signed package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status

2018-08-24 Thread Fred Palmer
I have been booting with the same version of UEFI from Asus since April.
But now either UEFI or Ubuntu is deleting all UEFI entries and creating
multiple new UEFI entries from boot device.

I was having issue of UEFI entry not installing at all.
fred@bionic-z97:~$ sudo grub-install --bootloader-id ubuntu /dev/sda --recheck
Installing for x86_64-efi platform.
Could not prepare Boot variable: No space left on device
grub-install: error: efibootmgr failed to register the boot entry: Input/output
error.

I have to boot full install on flash drive and use configfile to boot into
working install in sda.
But something is adding entries from flash drive's ESP. And on reboot added a
second BIOS/grub entry (which is not used)

I can see UEFI entries come from flash drive as it has extra bionic & copy
folders.
I was then able to add an entry for working install on sda, but reboot erased
it.

After boot with efi_not_storage_paranoia
And reset of UEFI to defaults & changing back to my preferred settings
