[Bug 1748565] Re: Kernel regularly logs: Bluetooth: hci0: last event is not cmd complete (0x0f)
I don't think so. Because this error message happens all the time it's going to happen at the same time as other Bluetooth problems. So people will *think* it's related to those other problems because both occur concurrently in the log. However because we already know this error message happens on healthy machines with no Bluetooth problems we believe that it's just a coincidence both issues happen concurrently, and that any actual problems should be reported as separate bugs. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1748565 Title: Kernel regularly logs: Bluetooth: hci0: last event is not cmd complete (0x0f) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/1748565/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Expected closest good/bad as git Builds: Last 4.13 git tag Ubuntu-4.13.0-32.35 - working First 4.14 git tag Ubuntu-4.14.0-11.13 - $ git bisect start $ git bisect good Ubuntu-4.13.0-32.35 $ git bisect bad Ubuntu-4.14.0-11.13 Build is slow, but it seems I can bisect from here ... [Bug 1791222] [NEW] efivar -a doesn't work, cannot be used to update SecureBoot variables
Public bug reported: [SRU Justification] When using append mode, libefivar's efivarfs_set_variable() opens the target file with flags O_APPEND|O_CREAT, which fails to actually define a read/write mode and therefore the file is opened read-only. This makes it impossible to use efivar to append to variables, which is the only way to update SecureBoot databases. [Test case] 1. wget -q http://www.uefi.org/sites/default/files/resources/dbxupdate.zip 2. unzip dbxupdate.zip 3. sudo apt install efivar 4. sudo chattr -i /sys/firmware/efi/efivars/dbx-* 5. sudo efivar -n d719b2cb-3d3a-4596-a3bc-dad00e67656f-dbx -a -f /tmp/dbxupdate.bin 6. Confirm that this fails with 'efivar: Invalid argument'. 7. Install efivar and libefivar1 from -proposed 8. Repeat step 5 9. Confirm that this command exits non-zero 10. Confirm that 'mokutil --dbx' shows a significant number of revoked hashes. [Regression potential] Since this function has clearly never ever worked, the only regression potential is if someone somewhere is calling this function with a payload that /shouldn't/ be written to nvram, and as a result of fixing this bug they now have junk written in an EFI variable. ** Affects: efivar (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1791222 Title: efivar -a doesn't work, cannot be used to update SecureBoot variables To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/efivar/+bug/1791222/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1791090] Re: Xorg fails to start with radeon (kernel rejects radeon command stream from Xorg)
Looking at the kernel source (drivers/gpu/drm/radeon/evergreen_cs.c), it appears the value: surf.nby == 1152 is wrong. Since the layer size is 8847360 bytes and the correct height 1080 pixels, this means you have a stride of 8192 bytes per row (which is 1920 pixels rounded up to 2048, multiplied by 4 bytes per pixel). So in the least the error message looks buggy: It should not say "1920 1152". But the trigger for the error also isn't directly related to that... The trigger for the error is: /* toffset == texdw[2] << 8 == 0 */ /* depth = 1 */ /* mslice == 1 */ /* surf.layer_size == 8847360 */ if (dim == SQ_TEX_DIM_3D) { toffset += surf.layer_size * depth; } else { toffset += surf.layer_size * mslice; } /* toffset == 8847360 */ /* radeon_bo_size(texture) == 4096 */ if (toffset > radeon_bo_size(texture)) { dev_warn(p->dev, "%s:%d texture bo too small (layer size %d, " "offset %ld, max layer %d, depth %d, bo size %ld) (%d %d)\n", __func__, __LINE__, surf.layer_size, (unsigned long)texdw[2] << 8, mslice, depth, radeon_bo_size(texture), surf.nbx, surf.nby); return -EINVAL; } Those are two very different values. Of course toffset is bigger. I can't tell if that's a mistake in the kernel logic or an encoding mistake from mesa (or Xorg). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1791090 Title: Xorg fails to start with radeon (kernel rejects radeon command stream from Xorg) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1791090/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1724919] Re: Bluetooth headphones only use A2DP when connected manually
Ubuntu 18.04.1. Jabra Elite Sport v2. Impossible to get A2DP to stick. Have to go through multiple jumps to get it to work. E.g., 1) Shut down and start bluetooth a few times after suspend or reboot. Sometimes i try to shutdown the Jabra device as well. 2) Then connect to the device, which always fails at minimum 3 times when using the slider for connecting, and then it might add a sound device or not. It takes a long time for this to happen in any situation after successful connect. Often the sound device is not even selected if it is added, which require a second user interaction to solve. However, this step works much better using blueman. I.e., the interface and bluetooth solution in Ubuntu is buggy to say the least. At least a few bugs must exist in the interface solution considered blueman works better. 3) If connection is working and a sound device is added then the A2DP is never selected. Using the Ubuntu drop down menu to change to A2DP is pointless, it will never work, and blueman cant change profile either. Thus going back to step one and and trying again is the only solution. This process takes up to 15 minutes or more to complete. By pure luck, the A2DP setting will stick until next suspend These errors have existed for at least 12 months in my case. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1724919 Title: Bluetooth headphones only use A2DP when connected manually To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1724919/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1791090] Re: Xorg fails to start with radeon
Hmm, your monitor is 1920x1080 and yet the kernel says "texture bo too small" with "1920 1152": sept. 06 08:06:26 sark kernel: radeon :01:00.0: evergreen_cs_track_validate_texture:855 texture bo too small (layer size 8847360, offset 0, max layer 1, depth 1, bo size 4096) (1920 1152) It sounds like a texture that's 1152 tall would actually be too big, not too small. [Bug 1791200] [NEW] grub-pc does not allow preseeding install_devices
Public bug reported: Background: Upon configuration the postinst maintainer script checks to see whether it needs to convert the debconf variable install_devices from the old device name format to the new 'by-id' format. It bases this decision on a version comparison against the "previously installed". In a new installation, this comparison is successful since the empty version string is older than any other version. postinst then goes on to check a few special cases where it can make informed decisions on whether the conversion was good without involving the user. Failing those checks it forces the debconf question to be presented to the user again with the converted device ids for confirmation. Problem: If an administrator has preseeded the install_devices question (using the new 'by-id' format) before installing grub-pc, then the above algorithm incorrectly decides that the user needs to confirm the devices again. Solution: The attached patch adds another special case that checks if the device IDs where already in the new 'by-id' format and in that case accepts them without asking the user again. Versions: I have observed this bug for many years, but only now gotten around to tracking it to its source. The patch is against version 2.02-2ubuntu8.4 of grub-pc. ** Affects: grub2 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Patch added: "patch against version 2.02-2ubuntu8.4 of grub-pc" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1791200/+attachment/5185869/+files/grub-pc.diff -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1791200 Title: grub-pc does not allow preseeding install_devices To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1791200/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1651660] Re: package python-samba 2:4.3.11+dfsg-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-removal script returned error exit status 1
Andreas When you say Can you run pycompile? Are you asking me (Geokimbo) or the Samba/Ubuntu team? If me then I guess I can, I haven't used python but I have been writing code for >40 years so can obviously build executables in other languages. I have plenty of virtual machine experience but no container time but I'm guessing that as the container is the same OS as the host it is straight forward. However I presume that your container exercise was a proof of concept rather than part if a fix. With some clear instructions as to what I'm compiling and where I'd find it I'm sure I could recompile and test. I've stayed away from fad languages but it annoys me that coders are not thinking ahead and allowing for backward and forward compatibility when they write code. With millions of lines of working code I wouldn't live long enough to fix things if I had to go back and change hundreds of subroutines because the I/O files had changed format which they do on an all too regular basis. Wrappers and generic subroutine calls should be part of what they build in from the start. [Bug 1791019] Re: [cosmic] [regression] DisplayPort Monitor works only once and not anymore after switching VTs in gdm 3.30.0
** Description changed: + https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gdm/issues/420 + + --- + On Cosmic dev, I can't use my displayport monitor after logging in to gdm3. It works for login (displays the login page) after the VT switch to the session it becomes black. Using CTRL+f1, etc doesn't also show the console even in my VGA monitor. Devices: * Thinkpad x230t with Intel 3rd gen core processor and graphics unit. * Laptop LCD. * 4k monitor plugged in to display port. * 1080p monitor plugged in to vga port. The graphic's memory is not enough so I have to turn off the Laptop LCD to power 4k and 1080p monitors. When it boots, I can see the login screen in the 4k monitor. To be able to login, what I do is unplug 4k monitor when booting and logging in. Once session is active, I plugin the 4k monitor. Thank you for your work/help. [Bug 1791199] [NEW] please ship integration.py test suite in a package
Public bug reported: As part of systemd upstream tests, or systemd autopkgtest, I'd like to run netplan integration.py test-suite as a binary. And ideally for the networkd backend only. Please consider to ship this testsuite either in the main netplan deb package, or a supplementary one. Once again I wish, apt could simply install src:netplan.io for me to fetch it dynamically, but alas this is not quite the case. I think the integration.py test-suite is very neat and would be nice to popularise as a stand-alone tool, which may help upstream developers of networkd and NetworkManager better develop their respective network configuration stacks. ** Affects: netplan.io (Ubuntu) Importance: Wishlist Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1791199 Title: please ship integration.py test suite in a package To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/netplan.io/+bug/1791199/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1791195] [NEW] Lenovo ideapad FLEX 6-14ARR no trackpad no touch/pen no wifi
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS Device wifi/bluetooth is hardlocked, proper drivers don't achieve anything. The blacklist 'ideapad_laptop' workaround enables wifi but disables other features important for use as a 2-in-1. Device uses Synaptics touchpad but isn't functional. Touch/Stylus Screen is Wacom AES but haven't been able to get Linux to identify it. [Bug 1770742] Re: Cannot find -lGL
This just hit me as well, on a kosher 18.04 system. I recently upgraded to a newer nvidia card, so that must have mangled it somehow. Looks like three of its symlinks got nuked: ls: cannot access '/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libEGL.so': No such file or directory ls: cannot access '/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libGL.so': No such file or directory ls: cannot access '/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libGLESv2.so': No such file or directory lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 22 Jun 5 07:16 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libGLdispatch.so -> libGLdispatch.so.0.0.0 ... -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 4697 Jan 25 2018 /usr/share/doc/libglvnd-dev/copyright Doing sudo apt install --reinstall libglvnd-dev resolved the problem here. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1770742 Title: Cannot find -lGL To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libglvnd/+bug/1770742/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

While running an Ubuntu kernel (not a mainline or third-party kernel) please enter the following command in a terminal window: apport-collect 1791195 and then change the status of the bug to 'Confirmed'. If, due to the nature of the issue you have encountered, you are unable to run this command, please add a comment stating that fact and change the bug status to 'Confirmed'. This change has been made by an automated script, maintained by the Ubuntu Kernel Team. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1791195 Title: Lenovo ideapad FLEX 6-14ARR no trackpad no touch/pen no wifi To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1791195/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
