Confirming this issue for USB installer for both 18.04.1 and 16.04.5 on HP Compaq dc5800. The "acpi=off noapic" kernel parameter workaroud works for installing the system. And interestingly, once installed to SATA drive the system boots and behaves normally. [Bug 1791399] [NEW] forced to use Lua5.1 (2012)
Public bug reported: Severity: minor, feature request Steps to reproduce: - apt install lua-check - luacheck -v Seen: - lua-check depends on lua5.1, which forces system-wide change of `lua` to `lua5.1` - even after using `update-alternatives` to revert system back to using lua5.3, luacheck -v reports "Luacheck: 0.21.1 \ Lua: Lua 5.1" - Luacheck version 0.21.1 was 2017-09-10, two and a half years after Lua5.3 became the current version. Expected: - lua-check depends on lua-any (is it possible? is it feasible?) Other info: - luacheck must force the lua version to use, because lua(5.1|5.2|5.3) searches only versioned paths for libraries -- if the luacheck libraries are in the "5.1" paths, then the "5.3" interpreter won't see them. Workaround: after installing package lua-check - update-alternatives --install /usr/bin/lua lua-interpreter /usr/bin/lua5.3 130 --slave /usr/share/man/man1/lua.1.gz lua-manual /usr/share/man/man1/lua5.3.1.gz - update-alternatives --install /usr/bin/luac lua-compiler /usr/bin/luac5.3 130 --slave /usr/share/man/man1/luac.1.gz lua-compiler-manual /usr/share/man/man1/luac5.3.1.gz - mkdir -p /usr/local/share/lua/5.3 - ln -s /usr/share/lua/5.1/luacheck /usr/local/share/lua/5.3/luacheck - perl -pi -e 's/env lua5.1/env lua5.3/' /usr/bin/luacheck I acknowledge that this is not a "bug" per se; I don't know how else to make a change request. [Bug 1789693] Re: Format volume requires a volume label
Thank you for taking the time to help make Ubuntu better. For reference, I'm attaching a screenshot. The proposal is to not require filling out the Volume Name field. There are several issues with this submission though. 1. Ubuntu policy is that bugs need to be fixed in the current development release before being fixed in a stable release. (In other words, "cosmic" instead of "bionic". 2. If this were targeted to "bionic", please follow the Stable Release Update procedures. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates#Procedure 3. Since you submitted this to GNOME, it would be really useful for you to have posted a link to that here. https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME /gnome-disk-utility/merge_requests/5 It looks like GNOME will be rejecting this change. On behalf of the Ubuntu Desktop team, I don't see sufficient reason for us to diverge from GNOME on this issue. [Bug 1790098] Re: vlan created on bond fails auto activation on updating parent network bond
Here is an example netplan yaml that emulates this configuration in a test container. network: version: 2 ethernets: eth0: dhcp4: false bonds: bond0: interfaces: [eth0] parameters: mode: active-backup arp-interval: 10 vlans: bond0.100: id: 100 link: bond0 addresses: [10.44.49.39/24] routes: - to: 0.0.0.0/0 via: 10.44.49.1 Setting 'arp-interval' causes the link to drop after a short period because the lxd bridge for the container isn't configured compatibly; so I've removed that line for testing here. However, I haven't understood why you have addresses assigned on both the bond and the vlan, or what you're intending to achieve by reconfiguring the bond with nmcli. Here, the links appear to work as expected when managed directly with iproute2. # ip -4 addr show 1: lo: mtu 65536 qdisc noqueue state UNKNOWN group default qlen 1000 inet 127.0.0.1/8 scope host lo valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever 3: bond0.100@bond0: mtu 1500 qdisc noqueue state UP group default qlen 1000 inet 10.44.49.39/24 brd 10.44.49.255 scope global bond0.100 valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever # ip link set dev bond0 down # ip -4 addr show 1: lo: mtu 65536 qdisc noqueue state UNKNOWN group default qlen 1000 inet 127.0.0.1/8 scope host lo valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever # ip link set dev bond0 up # ip -4 addr show 1: lo: mtu 65536 qdisc noqueue state UNKNOWN group default qlen 1000 inet 127.0.0.1/8 scope host lo valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever 3: bond0.100@bond0: mtu 1500 qdisc noqueue state UP group default qlen 1000 inet 10.44.49.39/24 brd 10.44.49.255 scope global bond0.100 valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever # I don't see anything here to indicate the kernel is mishandling these interfaces. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1790098 Title: vlan created on bond fails auto activation on updating parent network bond To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-z-systems/+bug/1790098/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thanks Pierre. I don't see this bug myself although I also have three accounts set up. Do you have multiple Google accounts? If so, it could be this bug: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1176399 which should be fixed in Thunderbird 60.1 according to comment #138 in the bug report. If you don't have multiple Google accounts then there are a couple of other upstream bug reports which could be relevant. ** Bug watch added: Mozilla Bugzilla #1176399 https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1176399 ** Changed in: thunderbird (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/940631 Title: Thunderbird asks three times for my master password To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/thunderbird/+bug/940631/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
