[Bug 1799881] [NEW] x86 install on x86_64 machine 18.04.1 (no format, over x86_64 ) - no error except something-went-wrong

2018-10-24 Thread Chris Guiver
Public bug reported:

install of lubuntu 18.04.1 (x86) over lubuntu 18.10 (x86_64)
something else install
/dev/sda6 / (no format)
/dev/sda7 /home (no format)

the /home was fedora, but / was formatted clean for 18.04 install for
test (but I installed wrong arch), it was then upgraded to 18.10. It
was not formatted for this x86 install. /home was not formatted, so
fedora became ubuntu 18.04 then 18.10 ..

last line of dmesg shows
[ 1203.811831] perf: interrupt took too long (3943 > 3920), lowering
kernel.perf_event_max_sample_rate to 50500

but other lines contain errors, so attached
(journalctl to be attached next)

[Bug 1795808] Re: Xorg freeze when using nvidia driver 390

Uncommenting "WaylandEnable=false " worked for me as well.

Removing gdm3 did not work, I just got redirected to a tty3 login shell.

Thanks

2018-10-24 Thread Andrei Borzenkov
There is no RAID on my system. And how is it relevant in the first
place? The error happens when efibootmgr tries to modify EFI variables.
This succeeds immediately after reboot and fails if done later. Which I
already explained in

[Bug 1702265] Re: High fan speed after suspend then reboot

2018-10-24 Thread Kai-Heng Feng
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v4.19 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
"Confirmed".

If upstream kernel still has this issue, then we need to do a kernel
bisection between v4.8 and v4.10.

Couple of cleanup patches that are needed for the main parts have been
merged into Linus' tree. Stash the commit IDs here to keep track while
waiting for the good bits.

[Bug 1795808] Re: Xorg freeze when using nvidia driver 390

2018-10-24 Thread giantmundo
This worked for me as well.

I must say the whole business with gdm and lightdm etc is very
frustrating. Every upgrade is a problem. Heaven help the man on the
street. We will never get them on board unless all graphics issues are
resolved prior to a release hitting the street.

[Bug 1767611] Re: ath10k_pci crash leading to unstable wifi on 18.04

2018-10-24 Thread Chris Klosowski
I know this got marked as 'invalid' but I'm experiencing this now on
18.10 with this driver after updating to 18.0.4.1 (I was not
experiencing it previously). It doesn't take a suspend for me. I can be
actively using the system and have the issue arise.

Kernal: Ubuntu 4.18.0-10.11-generic 4.18.12

Oddly enough it's only when I'm connected to my home network. I've been
on two other networks without issue.

Not working (Home): 5gHz Linksys WRT 1200 AC

Other working networks:
Nighthawk Router
WiFi Tether on my mobile device

It seems to be inconsistent for me as well. Usually, if I catch it early
enough, I can simply turn off the WiFi and turn it back on and things
resolve out. However, if it sits in this state too long, the system
overall is less responsive and I can't get the WiFi to recover.

Is there anything else I can supply?

[Bug 1778361] Re: The Processes tab only displays the current user's processes

2018-10-24 Thread Ken VanDine
Yeah, installed from the deb it doesn't have this behavior. The UI
wants to show whatever state it was in when it started, so I think the
dconf setting is getting set. For example, if I tick "All processes"
when just the user processes are listed, I briefly see all processes
then it reverts back. The "All processes" radio item is still ticked
though. If I restart gnome-system-monitor it will display all processes
properly. If I think tick "My processes" I briefly only see my
processes then it reverts back to all until restarting the app again.

On the first wake up, the system was hanging. Worse then before with the nvidia
driver, see screenshopt for options.
Should I go back to the nuveau driver?
