[Bug 1782984] Re: PCManFM crashes frequently on Lubuntu 18.04
First some general advice. Deb packages are ALWAYS available for released software versions, but they're under the source package in Launchpad. Sometimes the source package and the binary (deb) package have the same name. On the other hand, sometimes a lot of packages are built from a single source package. The debian/control file will list the source package for a particular piece of software (i.e. if you were to do `apt-cache show deb-package-name | grep Source`). If you're trying to find information for a different release, you might look up the deb package on packages.ubuntu.com. It will show you a link to the source package name at the top left. Once you have the source package name, you can look it up on Launchpad (or use `!upkg source-package-name` on duckduckgo.com) and from there you'll see all the debs along with a bunch of other downloads or simply look at the bottom of the listings at packages.ubuntu.com. That said: libfm: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+archive/primary/+files/libfm4_1.2.5-1ubuntu1_amd64.deb thunar-data: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+archive/primary/+files/thunar-data_1.8.1-1_all.deb libxfconf: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+archive/primary/+files/xfconf_4.13.5-1_amd64.deb -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1782984 Title: PCManFM crashes frequently on Lubuntu 18.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pcmanfm/+bug/1782984/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1801267] [NEW] regina-normal crashes on startup
Public bug reported: This is a bug in Ubuntu 18.04 LTS. The application Regina (installed through the package regina-normal) will not start. The problem seems to be that it is linked against the graphviz plugins, which moved location (thus the executable can no longer find the libraries that it links against). The fix is simply to rebuild regina- normal, with no changes needed to the source. To reproduce: - Install the package regina-normal; - At a command line, type "regina-gui". The application crashes with the message: "regina-gui: error while loading shared libraries: libgvplugin_core.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory" Rebuilding regina-normal against the current Ubuntu 18.04 LTS causes the executable to be linked correctly, and the problem is fixed. This problem does *not* affect Ubuntu 18.10. It is only present in Ubuntu 18.04 LTS. I would be grateful if someone could please rebuild regina-normal on 18.04 and upload this to bionic-updates, and/or include the rebuild in the next point release (I presume 18.04.2). Thanks - Ben. ** Affects: regina-normal (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1801267 Title: regina-normal crashes on startup To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/regina-normal/+bug/1801267/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

The HFS+ files system was using hfs package. I was copying files from a directory in 4TB Seagate 3 to 4TB Seagate 1 using the Terminal cp -anR command. Once all the files had been copied I intended to reformat the drive with a NTFS file system. I was using VueScan and it began misbehaving after I had deleted and renamed some directories with CAJA. I exited VueScan and tried to restart it. The initial splash screen displayed, then the program hang. I tried it again. Same results. I aborted the terminal copy and did a system shutdown. I saw the Ubuntu shutdown screen. I waited, and waited. I went to bed. After 8 hours the shutdown screen was still being displayed. I had to turn the power off. Then I disconnected most of the external drives. I turned power back on and rebooted. The 6TB drive did appear and was mounted. I had to disconnect-reconnect the 4TB Seagate 3 (HFS+ file system) a number of times and reboot before it would mount. VueScan started properly and works fine. It had been working properly before - the error was that Caja would not show the newly scanned files that VueScan produced. After restarting Ubuntu they showed up proving that VueScan was not at fault. Public bug reported: In Kodi, try to add a smb:// URL for a share that doesn't allow guest logins and you'll get a cryptic "File Exists" error. It never asks for login credentials. From online searching, this is most likely due to a bug in libsmbclient where smbc_opendir will return EEXIST instead of a more appropriate error code if invalid login credentials were provided. This was fixed in Samba 4.8: https://github.com/samba- team/samba/commit/7470b9b18af282a742929d3fc90f4be5520428a1 But 18.04 is shipping 4.7. Trying to add a share where the hostname doesn't resolve results in some cryptic messages as well, but that may or may not be a different bug. [Bug 1801225] [NEW] cmake files are misplaced
Public bug reported: While reading about bpftrace I discovered that the Ubuntu LLVM or Clang packaging is apparently not quite correct: https://github.com/iovisor/bpftrace/issues/76 Thus the install instructions for bpftrace includes adding apt.llvm.org's key to the APT trusted keys: https://github.com/iovisor/bpftrace/blob/master/INSTALL.md I tried the instructions myself (skipping the LLVM repository) on my 18.04 LTS host, with both llvm-5.0 and llvm-6.0 packages, and got similar results: sarnold@hunt:~/trees/bpftrace/build$ aa-exec -p untrusted-compile cmake -Wno-dev -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=DEBUG -DLLVM_DIR=/usr/lib/llvm-6.0/lib/cmake/llvm/ -DClang_DIR=/usr/share/llvm-6.0/cmake/ .. [Bug 1801203] Re: Several minor issues with the Cosmic release version
>In particular, #2 makes me question what image you're using. Sounds like an old one. I just today downloaded the released Lubuntu 18.10, placed it on a USB thumb drive, and booted from it. There on the desktop was the install icon, which when double-clicked upon, yielded the stated window... I will at some point, boot into the installed 18.10 and individually ubuntu-bug the various issues above. (I have to "live" in 17.10, as no later version can install the nvidia-304 driver, which nvidia has retired. Sooner or later in a session, nouveau screen-crashes on me, and I must reboot... I'll have to get a new computer. If nouveau crashes on IT, I can at least install a non-retired nvidia driver... I wonder if AMD radeon drivers are any less likely to give me problems (I don't do video games, or anything fancy, although I was thinking of getting a 4k/UHD TV to double as a monitor...)) Is calamares present on the installed 18.10, or is it removed as no longer being necessary? If so, I would have to boot from the USB thumb drive, and ubuntu-bug from the live-session... Thanks. It sounds like there is a bad connection in the port on the back panel. That would explain both crackling and flickering settings. [Bug 1801110] Re: gnome-shell crashes ending session upon DP monitor switch-away
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps: 1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. 3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921, reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1. Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security risk for yourself. ** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1801110 Title: gnome-shell crashes ending session upon DP monitor switch-away To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1801110/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1801210] [NEW] File Manager defaults to displaying files/directories in reverse order
Public bug reported: In doing testing for other bugs related to this package, I have noted that this file manager defaults to displaying files/directories in reverse order (Z->A, 9->1, etc.) I don't know if this is a bug, or a design decision, but it seems counter-intuitive to me... [Bug 1783873] Re: auto-type user and password not working (too fast?)
Thanks Dominik for your comment. I don't know if it has something to do with timing issues, but before the update to Debian Stretch (which ships the same xdotool as Ubuntu 18.04, in comment #3 I wrongly cited "Jessie", I was talking about "Stretch" ), I was not having these problems. Changing my shortcut (CTRL-ALT-A) to '/usr/bin/setxkbmap fr oss; mono /usr/lib/keepass2/KeePass.exe --auto-type' seemed to do the trick for 'Perform auto-type' (CTRL-V) but was not working for my global auto-type CTRL-ALT-A (it seemed not to do anything). Perhaps because I don't know how t correctly specify a keyboard shortcut with more than 1 command in Gnome shell. As a workaround, I made a shell script with these 2 commands (setxkbmap and mono) and now I call this script with CTRL-ALT-A. 'Perform auto-type' (CTRL-V) as well as Global auto-type (CTRL-ALT-A) now seem to work flawlessly (at least it has been the case for several days now). So I really suspect the problem has something to do with the management of keyboards when more than 1 is set in Gnome. @Dominik : do you have more than 1 keyboard layout set as input ? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1783873 Title: auto-type user and password not working (too fast?) [Bug 1769420] Re: Odd lxqt-config-file-associations for .jpg and .pdf
I have now installed the release version of Lubuntu Cosmic 18.10. I have not tested the multitude of file-associations that I did before, as I was testing a different bug, but I will note in passing that when I tried to display a .png file by double-clicking on it, it brought up Firefox, not LXImage... (I think that is the released image-viewer. I am using my usual LN 17.10, as it is the last version in which I can use the now-retired nvidia-304, which I must use, as nouveau often screen-crashes (diagonal lines of garbage) when I attempt to use it...) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1769420 Title: Odd lxqt-config-file-associations for .jpg and .pdf To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxqt-config/+bug/1769420/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem? Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v4.19 kernel[0]. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. [Bug 1801203] [NEW] Several minor issues with the Cosmic release version
Public bug reported: {If each of these should be reported separately, let me know. It seems a bit of a waste, though...} 1. Both "Install Lubuntu 18.10" and "Install System" appear in the System menu of the Live session. 2. Double-clicking on the "Install Lubuntu 18.10" icon on the desktop results in the Window "Execute File" appearing, and it asks what we want to do with "...what seems to be a desktop entry". The options "Open", "Execute", and "Cancel" appear (with "Execute" highlighted). I suppose I should have figured "Execute" was the right option, but one normally "Open"s an application, so I tried that first... Nope. 3. When the "System Language" and "...Locale" are displayed, "UnitedStates" contains no space. 4. After manually selecting partitions for installation, the overview summary window is so tall that only the top of the buttons "Back", "Install", and "Cancel" are visible. I had to click on the window's Maximize button to see the whole button. (I think I remember a later window having the same problem. but am not sure...) 5. I don't use my Windows partition, except once in a while raiding files from it, so I do not boot from it. When I saw "boot" checked, amongst various other flags, I unchecked it (I probably didn't need to - I don't know what all those flags do, anyway...) On the overview summary, "Clear all flags for /dev/sda2" (or similar wording) appeared 3 times. I only unchecked one flag (only one was checked), so why the line was repeated three times, I don't know... ** Affects: calamares (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1801203 Title: Several minor issues with the Cosmic release version To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/calamares/+bug/1801203/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1801189] Re: After upgrade from 18.04 to 18.10 no hosts are resolved from DNS configured in VPN connection
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1801189/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1768961] Re: xdg user-dirs not being read/stored correctly for desktop icon in left panel
Here are the terminal commands that I saw in your screenshot, plus output from inxi, which is similar to what produced your system output. I had to modify the ls command for /data, as the recursive output would have reached the nearest star and back... [By the way, I was surprised to find the group name listed for the ls output was "sambashare". I have no idea what it is, have never seen it before, and certainly did not set it. Is this a bug? Is this something I can "fix", or need to...? I guess it is not anything that actually changed, since in 17.10, which I still use, it says: "scott scott", not "scott sambashare" .. .] ** Attachment added: "Terminal commands" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lubuntu-default-settings/+bug/1768961/+attachment/5208027/+files/DebugPCManFM.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1768961 Title: xdg user-dirs not being read/stored correctly for desktop icon in left panel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lubuntu-default-settings/+bug/1768961/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
