2018-11-17 Thread rbm
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1742602 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1742602

Same issue happening consistently for me. I've tried vanilla Ubuntu
18.04 LTS, Mint 19, KDE Neon, same issue. I also have a mixed video
hardware setup with dual onboard Intel outs and a separate Nvidia card
with 2 outs. The 4 monitors are identical and all work, as so the
cables.

[Bug 1803853] [NEW] gedit git plugin crashes on local git repository

2018-11-17 Thread Dmitriy Geels
Public bug reported:

I get the following output in console:

dmig@dmig-Inspiron-5379:~$ gedit workspace/howdy-test.py
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gedit/plugins/git/appactivatable.py", line
89, in get_repository
repo = self.__git_repos[repo_uri]
KeyError: 'file:///home/dmig/workspace/form-observer/.git'

During handling of the above exception, another exception occurred:

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gedit/plugins/git/windowactivatable.py", line
298, in inserted
repo = self.get_repository(location, msg.is_directory)
  File "/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gedit/plugins/git/windowactivatable.py", line
282, in get_repository
return self.app_activatable.get_repository(location, is_dir)
  File "/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gedit/plugins/git/appactivatable.py", line
95, in get_repository
head = repo.get_head()
gi.repository.GLib.Error: ggit-error: reference 'refs/heads/master' not found
(-9)

The reason is simple ~/workspace/form-observer/ is a local-only
repository, it has no remotes. But it is weird for me, why this plugin
scan subdirectories?

2018-11-17 Thread AzureRaptor
I have the exact same symptoms in xenial as stdedos above, except with
Corsair Vengeance 1500 headset, switching between digital/s/pdif and
"speakers" (analog out).

I have not experienced the volume control symptom, however.

[Bug 1794235] Re: pysimplesoap broken with python-httplib2 >= 0.10

2018-11-17 Thread Logan Rosen
** Summary changed:

- reportbug unusable
+ pysimplesoap broken with python-httplib2 >= 0.10

** Changed in: pysimplesoap (Ubuntu)
   Status: New => Triaged

** Changed in: pysimplesoap (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided => High

** Also affects: pysimplesoap (Ubuntu Disco)
   Importance: High
   Status: Triaged

** Also affects: pysimplesoap (Ubuntu Cosmic)
   Importance: Undecided
   Status: New

** Changed in: pysimplesoap (Ubuntu Disco)
   Status: Triaged => Fix Released

** Changed in: pysimplesoap (Ubuntu Cosmic)
   Status: New => Triaged

** Changed in: pysimplesoap (Ubuntu Cosmic)
   Importance: Undecided => High

** Description changed:

  See https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=908087, please
  upgrade to python3-pysimplesoap 1.16-2.1 from Debian.
+
+ [Impact]
+
+ * pysimplesoap renders dependent applications unusable when python-
+ httplib2 >= 0.10 is installed (e.g. in Cosmic) due to fault version
+ checking
+
+ * One example is reportbug, which crashes when it tries to connect to
+ the Debian BTS
+
+ * The patch from Debian fixes this bug by fixing the version checking
+ logic in pysimplesoap
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+  * Run `reportbug -B debian`, configure it if you haven't before, then
+ specify a source package and try reporting a bug. It will fail, as
+ described in https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=908087
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ * Very limited, since the package is currently largely unusable with
+ the version of python-httplib2 in Cosmic

[Bug 1803848] [NEW] Playing video on chrome sometimes freezes until i'm not moving my mouse

2018-11-17 Thread Paco Raxim
Public bug reported:

Latest update made some strange problems:

1) system-udev made a high CPU usage on nvidia, i have made a restart on
the udev:

sudo systemctl start systemd-udevd systemd-udevd-kernel.socket
systemd-udevd-control.socket
sudo systemctl stop systemd-udevd systemd-udevd-kernel.socket
systemd-udevd-control.socket

made a bleachIT also, that problem seems to be solved.

2) when ubuntu stops on 120Hz there are some strange lines appears at the
bottom of the screen
It does not safely stop, just kills the nvidia driver probably, or does some
nasty manipulation

3) On latest update - playing video on chrome freezes for a sec, until i'm not
moving my mouse
It did not appear before, although the high CPU usage was present on previous
releases

4) scrolling is the weakest point of the gnome shell related to CPU
usage

Note that skrooge most definitely IS installed - no idea why the system
summary tacked on says it isn't. There are no custom packages on this
system; everything is either from the core system or added using
software-manager.

[Bug 1802691] Re: Slow send speed with Intel I219-V on Ubuntu 18.04.1

2018-11-17 Thread Simas
I've just confirmed the problem again by trying to transfer a file
between Windows 10 and Ubuntu 18.04.1 via samba. Upload speed from
Windoes to Ubuntu is 110-115MB/S, while download from Ubuntu to Windows
is only 88-90MB/S.

There seems to be another possibly related or unrelated issue. If SAME
DIRECTION transfer is initiated from the Ubuntu machine, the download
speed to Ubuntu is actually 85MB/s vs 112MB/S if it's initiated from
Windows.. that seems to be really weird, but I'm not alone:

When I startup Xubuntu 18.04 beta on my 4K TV (connected by HDMI) the
cursor is much too big. The system will boot into Full HD resolution and
not 4K. If I then go to the Xfce Mouse settings under the tab "mouse
themes" to change the cursor size I only need to change the size of the
cursor 1 pixel up and down and everything is fine again and the cursor
has again the correct size. In my case I change the cursor size from 24
to 25 and then back to 24.

I just installed a fresh copy of Xubuntu 18.04 on a new system with a 4k
screen, and I am having the same issue.

When I boot and login the mouse is huge when on the desktop, but changes sizes
when hovering over certain applications. As was mentioned by Manuel, if I
change the cursor size setting or simply change the cursor theme from "Default"
to "DMZ (Black)" and then back to "Default", the problem disappears.
 The size is normal and constant no matter what application I hover over.

I found this older post from someone who was using Xubuntu 14.04 a few
years ago, and I believe it to be the same bug. The images and behavior
accurately describe what we are seeing in 18.04.

https://superuser.com/questions/768830/mouse-cursor-scaling-issues-in-
xubuntu-14-04-with-xfce-4-10

I'm also wondering if the issue is somehow related to this bug:

https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7415

In that instance I see no mention of size changes, but they similarly
have changes in the applied cursor theme based on whether the mouse is
hovering over the desktop or other applications.

fix it all I have to do is what's said above, change cursor size up 1
and back down 1 (what it was set at) and it'll reset to what it's
supposed to be. It's getting annoying for like a whole year everytime I
boot the computer up I have to go into mouse settings and fix it.

[Bug 1803840] [NEW] color calibration with huey pro greenish

2018-11-17 Thread Michael Kubinyi
Public bug reported:

First of all: Congratulations, after an absence due to bad configurability of
my rig I came back to ubuntu and was very positively surprisedthere is one
thing that bothers me: after using the calibration feature for my screens this
leads to greenish displays, even a icc profile made with the same hardware
under windows10 (where configurability decreased since my update to v10) makes
the same effect used with ubuntu 16.04...am I not aware of some more setting or
is this a bug?
Please let me know what more information you need from me besides I am using a
hp envy dv6 and a wacom cintiq 13 hd, the nvidia graphics card is turned off
for displays, I am using it just for Blenders Cycles renderer. I am a
left-handed CG enthusiast who needs the wacom buttons on the right-hand side...

Thank you,
Michael

[Bug 1769480] Re: Ubuntu 18.04 - networkmanager dont show other wifi after few minutes

2018-11-17 Thread lnly
I dont thought this thread would get a response. I asked first what information
i should provide but did not get any response because in dmesg there is nothing
relevant. Its sad that someone else have to say that he have the same issue to
get a resposne.
I installed ubuntu 18.10 in the meantime on an other device with totaly
different wlan chipset. Same issue. So not that even the ubuntu version, also
the hardware changed fully.

Scanning via command line:

iwlist wlan3s0 scanning
wlan3s0   Interface doesn't support scanning.

Lets see if this issue wont get touched again until someone reports the same
issue with 19.04.

[Bug 1798162] Re: VLC failed after attempt to open a video file

Tagging this as I'm seeing the same. Running Cosmic 18.10 64-bit in a
VirtualBox 5.2.22r126460 (latest stable). It complains about "Failed

nvidia drivers or Ubuntu packages installed (it's using the VirtualBox

[Bug 1707352] Re: the change from libsane to libsane1 broke many (all?) 3rd party plug-ins for sane

2018-11-17 Thread Selmi
I have problem with scanner from Samsung multifunction device M2070

it worked with installed drivers from samsung site in ubuntu 16.04

after upgrade to 18.04 scanner is not recognized anymore. I reinstalled
newer drivers from HP site (hp took over samsung printers and scanners)
but still doesn't work

so 'out of a box' experience in 18.04 from comment #43 is not exactly
true

[Bug 1803831] Re: Can't login to Ubuntu and unity desktop, screen loops up

2018-11-17 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1803831/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 185986] Re: WebDAV extremely slow

2018-11-17 Thread Vidvranjek
My experience is the same as @hasi described, but I'm on Ubuntu 18.04.
Accessing via Nautilus by typing 'dav://url.com/Folder' is as fast as
can be, but mounting it using fstab is extremely slow.

POTENTIAL CLUE: When opening the mounted folder, my download network traffic
raises to full speed (10MB/s) for about 2 minutes until folder contents is
displayed, then traffic is back to normal.

15GB of disk space (20GB recommended).

mouse if they don’t fit in the screen).

The 64-bit ISO can boot with BIOS or UEFI.
The 32-bit ISO can only boot with BIOS.
The 64-bit ISO is recommended for all modern computers (Almost all computers
