I could build, install, and use anki 2.1.6+dfsg~beta2-1 from Debian Sid

characters) only, I didn't test other features (e.g. sync). I hope the
update can be imported into Ubuntu soon.

[Bug 1807826] [NEW] libsndfile crashed with SIGSEGV in __memset_avx2()

2018-12-10 Thread Jaeseung Choi
Public bug reported:

- When running 'sndfile-info' program from 'sndfile-programs' package, the
program crashed while trying to write on invalid memory address. The crash
point is within libsndfile.so library, so the bug seems to be in 'libsndfile'
package.
- 'sndfile-play' program from 'sndfile-programs' package also crashes with the
same input.

[Bug 1804149] Re: Kernel panic, Oops: 0004 ilc:3 [#1] SMP, iscsi_q_20 iscsi_xmitworker [libiscsi]

2018-12-10 Thread Frank Heimes
Not sure if I understand the overall situation correctly, but:

In the bug description I read that the issue occurs with 4.15.0-36-generic,
and in comment 4 its also mentioned that it happens with 4.15.0-36-generic and
4.15.0-23-generic
and again in comment 6 also on 4.15.0-15-generic (I assume all on 16.04).

But in comment 8 (according to LP 1782085) the issue doesn't happen (at least
for the last 47 days) on a kernel 4.15.0-36-generic (on that particular system)
- but this is the same kernel level like the one mentioned in the bug
description?!
Either there is something wrong with the mentioned kernel levels, or it doesn't
depend on the kernel, but for example on the infrastructure?!

LP 1782085 describes a situation on an LPAR system, but LP 1804149 on a zVM 7.1
guest system.
Are there other differences between both systems?
Can it have something todo with the underlying hypervisor?

[Bug 1807825] [NEW] libsndfile crashed with stack overflow in psf_binheader_readf()

2018-12-10 Thread Jaeseung Choi
Public bug reported:

- When running 'sndfile-info' program from 'sndfile-programs' package, the
program crashed with stack overflow (possibly by unbounded recursion of
guess_file_type() function). The crash point is within libsndfile.so library,
so the bug seems to be in 'libsndfile' package.
- 'sndfile-play' program from 'sndfile-programs' package also crashes with the
same input.

[Bug 1807823] [NEW] libsndfile crashed with SIGSEGV in wav_w64_read_fmt_chunk()

2018-12-10 Thread Jaeseung Choi
Public bug reported:

- When running 'sndfile-info' program from 'sndfile-programs' package, the
program crashed while trying to write on invalid memory address. The crash
point is wav_w64_read_fmt_chunk() function of libsndfile.so, so the bug seems
to reside in 'libsndfile' package.
- 'sndfile-play' program from 'sndfile-programs' package also crashes with the
same input.

[Bug 1721988] Re: Ubuntu 17.10 full disk encryption + Nvidia drivers not booting

2018-12-10 Thread Aaron Von Gauss
With Ubuntu 18.04 LTS or Ubuntu 18.10 and full disk encryption enabled,
after I install the nVidia drivers I also receive the blank screen
though I can type the passphrase in and it will continue to boot
successfully. What seems odd based on some past comments is adding the
"nomodeset" parameter for me presents the splash screen as expected even
with the nVidia drivers installed. I've tested this with both the 390
and 415 drivers.

2018-12-10 Thread Doberkid
This seems to work for me:

Adding Calendar Tab:
Ctrl+Shift+C
OR
Events and Tasks menu, then click on Calendar

Making Google the Default Calendar:
Once Thunderbird starts -> Go to the Calendar tab and Right Click on the Google
Calendar which you want the events to be processed by
Click on Properties
Select the Email -(gmail in this case – the calendar you want to make as
default for accepting invitations)
OK-> Close

Hope this helps

Thanks for the steps! Since I posted my last comment above, I did some
experimentation and found the following:

If the Google Calendar I have defined in Lightning has the Gmail email
address in it, for example:

https://calendar.google.com/calendar/ical/{someaddress%40gmail.com}/private-{some
id}/basic.ics

I get prompted for which calendar to add event invitations to. If the
Google Calendar defined has the generated calendar ID in it, for
example:

https://calendar.google.com/calendar/ical/gb2nmfkrko6l9jo3generated%40group.calendar.google.com
/private-47c4accf8a7af8d30cdf6a9bacb123def456/basic.ics

I don't get prompted and the event invitation gets added to the default
calendar.

I would prefer to keep my local calendar as the default and be prompted
to choose a calendar each time I get an event invitation.

[Bug 810622]

2018-12-10 Thread Sodd
So--had the same problem and here's how i solved it worked it out.

follow these directions to download plugins and create network google calendars
for all of your calendars (based on your emails). So i have m...@domain.com and
a m...@domain2.com emails where those same emails are connected to google for
calendars (and I'm not using gsuite)
https://www.techrepublic.com/article/how-to-add-a-readwrite-google-calendar-to-thunderbirds-lightning/

THEN, create new local calendars for each email you have that are the
same emails as the google calendar emails.

When you then receive invitations to those emails, you can accept
invitations and they will go into your local lightning calendars but
they will also sync with your google calendars. I have my google cals in
lightning checked to see all events prior to this change, but new events
don't require it.

whew!

uhoh, maybe that is not a good workaround, as I had suggested. It seems

[Bug 810622]

2018-12-10 Thread Christof-elmiger
I think I am getting invitations mostly from outlook-users. My current
workaround for this bug looks like this:

1. have a local calendar, so I can accept an invitation and the event is
automatically saved in that calendar
2. go that date (need to check anyway, if I really have free time or not)
3. copy event and paste it to my google-calendar (thunderbird prompts me to
ask, which calendar I want to save it to)

As it is simply a matter of copying and pasting the event from one
calendar to the other I do wonder, if it wouldn't be quite easy to fix
this bug? (I'd like to tell everyone in my company to use thunderbird,
but if people ask me, if it handles invitations well I have to say:
well, ergh, no it doesn't.)

The problem is not confined to the google calendar. When accepting email
invitations and using caldav calendars, the user is NOT presented with a
selection dialog for the calendar, instead the event is created in the
local calendar an CANNOT BE MOVED. There is no selection in the event.

[Bug 810622]

2018-12-10 Thread Rudolf-gutten
Hello All,

I have the same issue since TB 45.0 - I am using several calendars: Exchange,
Google, and default TB.
If an event invitation arrives (from Exchange account), I have buttons to
Accept, Decline, etc, but event is saves under default calendar, not to the
Exchange one.

I'd like to save events to Exchange calendar by default, or at least to
choose which calendar the invitation is going to be applied.

Is there a workaround for this ?

Thanks a lot, Rudolf

[Bug 810622]

2018-12-10 Thread Riegel
Hello,

I searched now many hours in the internet and your forums but it seems
that this Problem isn't solved yet:

No writable calendars are configured for invitations with Provider for
Google Calendar.

My Thunderbird version is 38.3.0 and Provider for Google Calendar 1.0.4.

I set calendar.google.enableEmailInvitations;true but it didn't help. I
also tried with ...@gmail.com and ...@googlemail.com. Calendar works
fine, it synchronizes, I see all entries etc. But I can't accept
invitations ALTHOUGH it should have write access.

What can I do? Isn't there a solution for this?

Thank you!
Daniel

The current Thunderbird build (38.7.2) with integrated Lightning shows me the
accept/decline buttons which also work for saving an event to a CalDAV calendar
(not Google) but it does not send a notification to the sender.
This works only with local calendars. Why and how can I make it work to send
the status back to the sender if the event will be saved to a CalDAV calendar?

[Bug 810622]

2018-12-10 Thread U557774
Hi,

This worked for me:

1. In your favourite browser, look at your google calendars in each of
your google accounts. Ensure that if you have multiple Google accounts
and/or multiple Google calendars, you are clear on which calendars are
associated with which Google accounts and which email addresses. Make a
note!

2. In Thunderbird, completely delete any Google calendars. (You'll be
re-adding them later).

3. In Thunderbird's View menu: Set Display Attachments Inline and set
Message Body As to Original HTML.

3. Tools / Options / Advanced Tab / Config Editor: Set
calendar.google.enableEmailInvitations to true and ensure that
calendar.google.sendEventNotifications is set to true. Restart
Thunderbird.

4. In Thunderbird, recreate each your calendars (and tasks, if desired)
using these settings: "On the Network", "Google" (not CalDAV); enter the
correct email address corresponding to each calendar; in the Google pop-
up, ALLOW Lightning to Manage your calendars and tasks; select the
corresponding calendars and tasks you wish to subscribe to, (that are
associated with the email address you entered).

5. In the Calendar tab, for each calendar, select properties and
check/set the correct email address corresponding to that calendar. (If
you can't find the option to do this, restart Thunderbird first).

6. Restart Thunderbird.

Test it (I used two different Google Calendars / accounts / emails
addresses within Thunderbird to do this):

7. Create a Calendar entry in some other account and invite your google
calendar self. In Thunderbird, within the received email, click Accept.
Then, go to the calendar, hit Synchronize on the top left. Check by
opening the new entry. Check, in the account that originated the
calendar entry, that the invitation was accepted.

8 Create a Calendar entry in a Google calendar within Thunderbird and
invite yourself (or someone else) at another email address. Hit
Synchronize on the top left. Go to the destination email account or
calendar and accept the invitation. Go back to the Thunderbird calendar,
hit Synchronize, and ensure that the invitation was accepted.

Good luck!

Newbie John.

2018-12-10 Thread Andwats
I have the same issue setting up CalDAV from Kerio.

This issue was not present in Lightening 3.3.3. Only after updating this
morning did it occur. I can save events to local calendar. Previously
everything worked fine.

Here is the precise behavior.

1) Select "Accept" on the invitation.
2) Select the calDAV calendar in the "Select Calendar" Menu.
3) Unselect and reselect the invitation email.
4) The "Accept" menu is still visible and nothing has been added to my Calendar.

If I select the default "Home" Calendar, everything works fine. The
invitation acceptance is sent and the creator of the event does get the
confirmation.

I have the following settings in my calDAV calendar:

1) Correct location string.
2) Correct E-Mail.
3) Refresh ever minute.
4) Read-only off.
5) Show reminders on.
6) Offline support on.

Yeah, I was mistaken, I thought there was, but there isn't. Only
g_thread is initialized, not g_slice.

> >+#if defined(MOZ_WIDGET_GTK)

I thought that too, and then I found a bunch of preprocessor glib
version checks (various GLIB_CHECK_VERSION in harfbuzz, and various
GLIB_MAJOR/MINOR_VERSION checks here and there, although, looking at
them, they are actually useless because they're for versions even older
than what we support ; harfbuzz does check for versions well above
2.18).

> Can this just be "if MOZ_WIDGET_GTK == 2" ?

sure

> know whether it is acceptable to call g_thread_init after g_type_init in

g_thread_init can be called multiple times in versions >= 2.24, and
gtype.c says, about g_type_init, "Since version 2.24 this also
initializes the thread system". So if we're okay with dropping G_SLICE
=always-malloc for versions 2.18 to 2.23 included, we should be able to
get away with only calling g_type_init. Another option would be to just
call g_slice_alloc/g_slice_free1, which will obviously initialize
gslice, and after all, sounds much simpler.

Thoughts?

Can you note the need/reason for g_type_init somewhere please?

Perhaps "GLib version < 2.36 doesn't initialize g_slice in a static
initializer. Ensure this happens through g_thread_init (GLib version < 2.32)
or g_type_init (2.32 <= GLib version < 2.36)."

There are many options, and I don't think it matters too much.

It looks like the pre-2.24 code at least attempts to deal with g_slice used
before g_thread_init [1], even though taking advantage of this would not be
complying with the docs.

The most safe would be to either version check or always
g_thread_init before g_type/g_slice usage, though it seems this is probably
not necessary.

It probably comes down to what is simplest.

My instinct is to avoid allocations where possible, so I'd tend to g_type_init
instead of g_slice_alloc because a g_type_init will be required at some
stage anyway, but that is likely premature optimization here if there
something simpler. g_type_init is a single symbol and g_slice_alloc would
require finding two.

The new method in nsXULAppAPI.h can mean that everything can be done from there
with only a single GetSymbol(), if you want to keep the g_thread_init. It
could be renamed to XRE_GLibInit() to do more than just g_thread_init.
Still I'm OK with dropping XRE_g_thread_init altogether and not bothering with
g_thread_init from XPCOMGlueStartup if you prefer.

Replace g_slice_set_config() with G_SLICE environment variable

The g_type_init() call has been dropped.
I don't know of a static constructor using GSlice in GLib 2.32.
Is there something that causes G_SLICE to be read during XPCOMGlueStartup with
GLib 2.32?
It would be good to keep this working for 2.32 because that is what the
precise test machines use.

>+#if defined(MOZ_WIDGET_GTK)
>+#if !GLIB_CHECK_VERSION(2, 32, 0)

The compile time glib version check is contrary to our goal of compiling
the same code irrespective of the compile environment.

Can this just be "if MOZ_WIDGET_GTK == 2" ?

I'd also be happy to drop support for G_SLICE=always-malloc on versions prior
to 2.32 if that makes the g_thread_init situation simpler. However, I don't
know whether it is acceptable to call g_thread_init after g_type_init in
versions prior to 2.24.

Replace g_slice_set_config() with G_SLICE environment variable

Turns out there aren't many places where g_thread_init is actually
called. There's some webrtc code that we don't build, and other than
that, other uses are exclusive... but need to be factored in, so this
became a bit awful. At the same time I added a compile time glib check
that removes the g_thread_init call when building against glib >= 2.32,
which is the case for gtk3 builds.

I guess that would work just as much. I was worried that some systems
might have G_SLICE set for some wrong reasons. I don't have a strong
opinion anyways.

I chose setenv to avoid having both "G_SLICE" and "G_SLICE=always-
malloc" as .rodata.

0001-Bug-833117-Replace-g_slice_set_config-with-G_SLICE-e.patch

Using g_slice_set_config() fails with newer glib because the slice allocator
now has a static constructor that runs when glib is loaded, consequently
emitting a noisy error message which confuses people into believing it's the
root of their problems.

The only way left to force the slice allocator to use "system" malloc (in
practice, jemalloc) is to set the G_SLICE environment variable to
always-malloc, and that needs to happen before glib is loaded.

Fortunately, the firefox and plugin-container executables don't depend on
glib. Unfortunately, webapprt does, so the problem remains for web apps
running through it. xpcshell and other executables that depend on libxul
directly (as opposed to loading it dynamically) are not covered either.

Using -safe-mode makes no difference.

Setting G_SLICE (or GSLICE, don't know which it is, seen both in this
report) to 'always-malloc' makes no diff either.

For the record, Firefox seems to run okay, but when it comes to a
CRITICAL error in my terminal, I'm a hater...

I don't think we should assume it is safe to use mGSlice later.

man 3p getenv
"The returned string pointer might be invalidated or the string content might
be overwritten by a subsequent call to getenv(), setenv(), unsetenv(), or (if
supported) putenv()"

I had intentionally chosen not to override an existing G_SLICE environment
variable so that this could be overridden or debug-blocks could be used if
desired. That's not a show-stopper, but avoiding overriding would avoid
having to copy the old value to restore.

I don't know why you are preferring setenv over putenv here.
I had chosen putenv to avoid the leak.

There is discussion about possible getenv optimizations if putenv is not used,
but I don't see this in glibc.
