[Bug 1781298]

2018-12-30 Thread Mmokrejs-k
Hi Andre,
I applied the patch to xfdesktop-4.13.2 on my Gentoo Linux. After a brief
testing I have indeed no new core dumps in my /var/dumps/, great. I realized
that if I use Fn+F1 to use only my external HDMI display and to turn off the
laptop's internal LCD, after lid open my laptop has again enabled LCD screen
and using the size of the external HDMI display (1920x1200 instead of its own
max 1366x768). I do not recall seeing this before. Could this be caused by your
patch?

$ dmesg

Maybe some checksum could be logged too so one could better discern when
the event triggered and to better match it so .xsession-errors file
contents? In the below log the messages around "Negative content width
-1" were supposedly caused by libreoffice which remembers position o the
window from a last execution and placed the window on my laptop indeed
somewhere above the left upper corner. I assume that is because it
remembered position from my 1920x1200 external HDMI screen while at the
moment I was using laptop's internal 1366x768 screen. As there is no
"Move window" place around the window luckily the only way to get to the
menu of the window is to use "Maximize window" from the Xfce panel.

Anyway, the logged events you added in the patch should bear a timestamp
(see below).

2018-12-30 Thread Andreldm-2
Thanks Martin for testing my patch, I'm glad it fixed the problem for
you.

With regards to the screen size issues you are facing, I'm 99.9% sure
it's not caused by xfdesktop, but xfce4-settings. Have you tried
reverting the patch or even disabling xfdesktop (xfdesktop -Q)? I'm
confident the behavior will be the same.

Also, have a look at recent improvements to screen management made by
Simon: https://simon.shimmerproject.org/

[Bug 1781298]

2018-12-30 Thread Mmokrejs-k
When I have only external HDMI enabled and close my laptop and turn off
the external HDMI screen, upon lid open I get:

(xfsettingsd:7085): xfsettingsd-CRITICAL **: 12:58:04.247: Failed to apply
display settings
UNREF LOADER

(note only one UNREF LOADER message).

Then after turning on the external HDMI and Fn+F1 to use only external HDMI
screen I get the second:

UNREF LOADER

line into the .xsession-errors file. Supposedly because the laptops
internal LCD was just turned off (anyway, it had the wrong size
1920x1200 since the lid open).

The message " Failed to apply display settings" should be clearer and
mention which display it was looking for.

[Bug 1781298]

2018-12-30 Thread Mmokrejs-k
Hi,
sorry to bug you again. I let the laptop with external HDMI enabled and
internal LCD disabled. After a while external HDMI felt asleep into stand-by
mode. But, I could not wake up a screen when touching my keyboard. Not even
ctrl+alt+f1 helped (which usually brings me into framebuffer console out off
the X11 windows and hence wakes up my screen). Alt+SysRq+S seemed to trigger
some disk activity at least. The trick which worked was to close the lid and
open again. That at least woke up the internal LCD of the laptop. Although it
so far feels like a bug in this case it was better than nothing.

[Bug 1810129] [NEW] blake2b512 / sha3-512 invalid digest type

2018-12-30 Thread km
Public bug reported:

cosmic | openssl 1.1.1-1

Since 1.1.1.a-1 provides support for blake2b512 / sha3-512 it would be
expected such to work when generating certificates which however does
not.

OpenSSL> list -digest-commands

Steps to reproduce:

in openssl_ca.conf set 'default_md = blake2b512' or 'default_md =

[Bug 1810123] [NEW] Merge debootstrap 1.0.112 from Debian Sid

2018-12-30 Thread Simon Quigley
Public bug reported:

We should merge debootstrap from Debian Sid because it has some very
notable speed enhancements. Full changelog below:

debootstrap (1.0.112) unstable; urgency=low

  [ Thomas Lange ]
  * optimize code, make debootstrap faster (Closes: #871835)
- use hash instead of grep for each line we read
- we can use elsif, because the line can't match both patterns
- There's no need to print the dependencies for each package separately,
if when later do sort|uniq, so just collect all dependencies in a hash
and print them at the end
- do not read all lines of the Packages file into the perl scripts,
egrep is used for filtering only the lines we need to read, since egrep
is faster than perl, this save a lot of time
- speed up by using grep -P and setting LC_ALL=C
- automatic detect if grep support perl regex
- in this part, we only need the package name and priority this makes
another little speedup, since the perl part need less lines to parse

 -- Hideki Yamane Sun, 23 Dec 2018 18:24:00 +0900

debootstrap (1.0.111) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Team upload

  [ Simon McVittie ]
  * Disable merged /usr by default when making a buildd chroot (closes: #914208)

 -- Julien Cristau Fri, 30 Nov 2018 21:01:08
+0100

debootstrap (1.0.110) unstable; urgency=medium

  [ Luca Falavigna ]
  * Add (Ubuntu) disco as a symlink to gutsy.

  [ Hideki Yamane ]
  * Add debian/source/lintian-overrides to ignore lintian warnings
since it is really necessary for debootstrap

 -- Hideki Yamane Thu, 08 Nov 2018 07:16:42 +0900

debootstrap (1.0.109) unstable; urgency=medium

  [ Raphaël Hertzog ]
  * Keep all script files in the udeb so that derivatives can use the
udeb built by Debian. Related to #893713.

  [ Hideki Yamane ]
  * Just set Standards-Version: 4.2.1 without change

 -- Hideki Yamane Mon, 10 Sep 2018 02:42:58 +0900

>From what I can see, xnox's delta should be kept:

  * Demote arch-test to suggests.
  * Drop ubuntu-archive-kerying (sic) suggests, such a package does not
exist in Ubuntu.

I'll go ahead and merge/upload but mark this bug as block-proposed to
wait for xnox and/or someone else from Foundations to ack and do testing
independent of mine. After reviewing the Debian changes myself they are
sane, but I also don't want to step on toes and have it migrate before
people get back from vac.

[Bug 1791908] Re: uvcvideo: Failed to query (GET_INFO) UVC control 4 on unit 2: -32 (exp. 1).

2018-12-30 Thread KEYofR
Problem is intermittent for me.

When I posted my previous comment, I had just done a fresh boot from
power-off (I never use hibernate or suspend, and don't even have any
swap partition or swap file configured), and had gotten the error on
that boot, and guvcvideo didn't work.

I just did 4 more power-off reboots (using "shutdown" from the LXDE
shutdown menu, not "reboot" or "suspend" etc) , and I didn't get the
error any of those times, and guvcvideo worked in each of those
sessions.

Same kernel each time, (4.20.0-042000rc7-generic).
Two of the boots I pressed enter in grub to skip the grub timeout, 2 times I
let grub time out, no difference.

[Bug 1810121] [NEW] Please drop non-little-endian 64-bit binaries

2018-12-30 Thread Logan Rosen
Public bug reported:

In version 2.12-2 of postgresql-hll, the Debian maintainer limited it to
little-endian 64-bit architectures [1]. This is currently blocking its
migration [2] since autopkgtest is seeing regressions on the
architectures where it's no longer built (armhf, i386, s390x). Can you
please remove the binaries for these architectures?

[Bug 1810120] [NEW] Rename-field not responding to keyboard strokes while rename active

2018-12-30 Thread Tijn Boissevain
Public bug reported:

After hitting F2 or click on filename to activate rename, the filename is
highlighted, but no keyboard-keys will react for editing. This includes
shift+keys, ctrl+keys and shft+ctrl+keys actions.
Placing the cursor or highlighting text is only possible by mouse, thus
filename changes only by via mouse-rightclick-paste.

Uninstalling, rebooting and re-installing Nemo packages did result in
exactly one-time I could normally navigate, select and type in the
rename field in Nemo. After closing en re-opening the Nemo-windows it
was back to no-filename-editing again.

[Bug 1810119] [NEW] Sync libpfm4 4.10.0-1 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

2018-12-30 Thread Logan Rosen
Public bug reported:

Please sync libpfm4 4.10.0-1 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
  * Fix ftbfs on armhf, wrong header name.
  * New upstream release LP: #1776169
Debian packaged the new upstream release and cherrypicked the arm FTBFS fix as
well. Builds properly in pbuilder for disco.

Changelog entries since current disco version 4.10.0-0ubuntu2:

libpfm4 (4.10.0-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * New upstream release. (Closes: #897791)
  * Cherry-pick ARM build fixes and Skylake event updates.
  * d/copyright: Refresh copyright list from upstream git commit history.
  * Drop obsolete X-Python-Version.
  * Do not ship the compiled examples. (Closes: #897343, #897357)

[Bug 1810117] [NEW] lubuntu 18.04.1 installer crashes every time in virtualbox

2018-12-30 Thread theminertv
Public bug reported:

I've tried to install Lubuntu 18.04.1 LTS Desktop 64bit in virtualbox for 4
times.
Every try I've generated a new 12 gigabyte vhd.
My virtual machine has 1 core, 1024 megabytes of memory, and 12 gigabytes of
storage.
Happens when installing in default harddrive partition configuration, 'cuz I
currently don't have the time to partition my drives.
I haven't tested it on a custom partioned vhd.

$ uname -r

LXQt: 0.13.0
LXQt Configuration Center(lxqt-config): 0.13.0-0ubuntu5

Bug Description:

"LXQt Configuration Center" is a launcher that collects system settings

display is too short to be useful.

Some item names are "...".

- Window Effects: "ウインドウ効果" -> "ウ..."
- Power Management: "電源管理" -> "..."
- Date and Time: "日時設定" -> "..."

---
Attachment file:

1. screen-fuguai-config-center-01.png
This is the screen of "LXQt Configuration Center (lxqt-config)". The item name
is too short, I do not know the item name.

2. screen-fuguai-config-center-02.png
I have displayed the "menu://applications/DesktopSettings/LXQtSettings" screen
in File Manager. Here is the normal item name. (Icon size: 32 x 32)

Yes, it happens with a new user.

If I trigger this bug, returning to greeter with dm-tool switch-to-

in again to the first user, the hint is still visible.

[Bug 1299007] Re: [ASUS Z87-PRO] suspend/resume failure

2018-12-30 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Sam (sr897), as the root cause of this report isn't confirmed to be solely
dependent on the motherboard, it is most helpful if you use the computer the
problem is reproducible with, and provide necessary debugging logs by filing a
new report with Ubuntu via a terminal:
ubuntu-bug linux

Please feel free to subscribe me to it.

Also, please note as per the article
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspend manually attached files
should be uncompressed and untarred (not zipped, gzipped, etc.).

[Bug 1810108] [NEW] Failure to boot as QEMU guest when using -device virtio-vga, virgl=true

2018-12-30 Thread Leonardo Müller
Public bug reported:

Installed Xubuntu 18.04 in a QEMU virtual machine using -device virtio-
vga, virgl=true fails to boot. Even setting to output boot messages to a
serial console no messages appear as if it never tried to boot at all.

What makes this strange is that the live media works correctly using
-device virtio-vga,virgl=true, but then, on reboot, the installed system
fails to boot.

To make the guest work it's required to remove the option ,virgl=true
from the command line.

[Bug 1810105] [NEW] Hint showing volume never disappears, blocking buttons to minimize, maximize and close

2018-12-30 Thread Leonardo Müller
Public bug reported:

When hovering the mouse over the volume indicator or changing its volume
using the mouse wheel it shows the current volume set as a hint. For
example:

Volume 100%

The problem is that the hint never disappears, not even clicking on it.
On some occasions the hint can cover the minimize, maximize and close
buttons, causing significant problems on using the desktop environment,
as these three buttons won't be usable anymore with the hint over it.

Where the hint appears it's no longer possible to interact with the
screen.

[Bug 1335725] Re: dolphin cannot find a file

2018-12-30 Thread Scott Moore
Oddly enough, the find function works in Dolphin if, and only if, I go
to Settings > Search > and UN-tick "Enable File Search".

This bug has been around for years. I'm surprised it doesn't have a
higher priority considering that file search has been a part of every
operating system I've known since the CP/M and DOS days.

So it can work, as long as it's turned off. It seems to me that this
would be extremely easy to fix, simply by re-naming the checkbox
"Disable File Search" (as if anyone would want to do that but ya never
know) and just make the box's value default to false (box not checked)
vs. true (box checked).

[Bug 1770391] Re: Ubuntu 18.04 josm: No valid JVM found

2018-12-30 Thread flieller
Hi,
you can start Josm on Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS by running the java program directly.
that is not the bug fix but allow to run josm in the meantime :)

first make sure that a java virtual machine is installed, for that enter
in a terminal

foo@bar:~$ java --version
openjdk 10.0.2 2018-07-17
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 10.0.2+13-Ubuntu-1ubuntu0.18.04.4)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 10.0.2+13-Ubuntu-1ubuntu0.18.04.4, mixed mode)

if you have the command "java" then a virtual machine is installed and then
execute the java compilled file with

foo@bar:~$ cd /usr/share/josm/
foo@bar:/usr/share/josm$ java -jar josm.jar

[Bug 1810095] Re: Configuring the network is not "user-friendly" in Lubuntu

2018-12-30 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1810095/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1810095] [NEW] Configuring the network is not "user-friendly" in Lubuntu

2018-12-30 Thread Delgan
Public bug reported:

Hi.

I just installed Lubuntu 18.10 which comes with lxqt and I love the
performances, the beauty and the simplicity of the desktop environment
you created.

I would like to install it everywhere and to advise it to my non-techy-
Windows-user friends, but I hesitate to do so because there are few
things that are not as polished as on other distributions.

One problem, in my opinion, is the configuration of the network. This is
the first thing we do after installing an OS, so this is the first
interaction of the user with the distribution, and it means so much on
his first impression of this new environment.

I made this gif right after installing Lubuntu, while Internet is not
yet working.

https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/4193924/50548291-6863e080
-0c4a-11e9-87b8-8651f7da8ca4.gif

I wanted to denote a few things:

* Clicking on the "Wi-Fi network" does nothing
- I guess it should either not be clickable or open a window information /
configuration about the network

* Clicking on the network in "Known connection" disconnect me
- Why does it do so while clicking on the same network under "Wi-Fi network"
did nothing?
- How can it disconnect me while I'm not even connected?
- What actually changed? The icon stays the same. The network list stays the
same.

* The "Connection Information" open an empty window
- I suppose it should display a message like "You are not currently connected
to any network". Otherwise, the user may think "Is it a bug? Is it loading data
info in the background?"

* The "Edit connections" open a Shell rather that a graphical window
- I know that this is easily configurable and that there is not even one
command line to type, but this would be much more welcoming if configuring the
network was made trough a graphical window, and if it just required to type the
WPA key in a input box.

I know it may sound like detail and that lxqt is already very easy to
use, but I sincerely believe that the graphical interface would benefit
a lot for being as user-friendly as possible.

I hope it makes as much sense to you as it makes to me.

System Information:
- Distribution & Version: Lubuntu 18.10
- Kernel: 4.18.0-13-generic
- Qt Version: 5.11.1
- liblxqt Version: 0.13.0

[Bug 1810087] [NEW] package linux-image-4.15.0-34-generic 4.15.0-34.37 failed to install/upgrade: installed linux-image-4.15.0-34-generic package pre-removal script subprocess returned error exit stat

2018-12-30 Thread Patrice TOULOUSE
Public bug reported:

The bug occurred after I tried to read a plain and normal video DVD in my
computer, opening it with the adequate software included in lubuntu OS. The
disk got stuck in the machine, (it still is). I first saw a question mark on
the dark screen, then after a while the ubuntu rescue screen, which I
fortunately happened to use, and there I am...though being a total ninny as
regards computers.
P. Toulouse
(ps: I wish I could get rid of the DVD out of the machine. The computer seems
to work again)

[Bug 1810086] [NEW] [SRU] Update to 0.18.1 in Bionic

2018-12-30 Thread Amr Ibrahim
Public bug reported:

0.18.1 is a bug-fix release and would be good to have it in Bionic LTS.

* Bug fix and translation release
- Use precise repeat one code rather than the previous estimate method
- Fix laggy volume slider
- Fix buggy click-to-seek
- Use default GNOME Headerbar spacing

It fixes the buggy seek slider.
Steps to reproduce the bug in Bionic:
1. Start Rhythmbox with alternative-toolbar enabled
2. Play a track
3. Drag the seek slider or click on it
4. Use keyboard left & right buttons to seek
5. Seeking does not work

Version 0.18.1 fixes that bug among others.

[Bug 1335725] Re: dolphin cannot find a file

2018-12-30 Thread Michal Mikolas
"Find" function also doesn't work for me. I have Ubuntu 18.04 and
Dolphin 17.12.3.

How can I install the older version 4:14.12.3-0ubuntu3 ?

Thanks.
