Just have run an 'udevadm trigger' before Vault unlocking and looks like
it's getting that links back:

$ juju run --application ceph-osd 'sudo udevadm trigger -ubuntu@ln-sv-infr01:~$
juju run --application ceph-osd 'sudo udevadm trigger --subsystem-match=block

[Bug 1813248] Re: Hang at screen unlock (gdm / 18.04)

2019-01-24 Thread Daniel van Vugt
There'a a lot of log data in comment #4 and a few possible problems:

1. The kernel is crashing repeatedly in wifi-related code:

Jan 10 16:17:19 Keschdeichel kernel: wlp4s0: Failed check-sdata-in-
driver check, flags: 0x0

Please try downgrading to the official bionic kernel (v4.15) and/or
avoid using wifi for a while.

2. There are some errors from unsupported gnome-shell extensions. Please
uninstall extensions such as 'dash-to-pa...@jderose9.github.com'.
Disabling them isn't enough.

3. It looks like you ran out of disk space at one point. Please check
that.

4. Near the end (the hang) a couple of components mention I/O errors:

Jan 25 07:08:30 Keschdeichel gsd-power[4979]: Error setting property
'PowerSaveMode' on interface org.gnome.Mutter.DisplayConfig: Timeout was
reached (g-io-error-quark, 24)

Jan 25 07:09:33 Keschdeichel gvfsd[4865]: Error 2: Error 02ff: PTP I/O
Error

which may indicate a disk is starting to fail. Or it may be unrelated
to disks completely.

5. Near the end (the hang) your CPU started to overheat:

Jan 25 07:09:36 Keschdeichel kernel: CPU2: Core temperature above threshold,
cpu clock throttled (total events = 3993)
Jan 25 07:09:36 Keschdeichel kernel: CPU6: Core temperature above threshold,

Jan 25 07:09:36 Keschdeichel kernel: CPU0: Package temperature above threshold,

Jan 25 07:09:36 Keschdeichel kernel: CPU1: Package temperature above threshold,

Jan 25 07:09:36 Keschdeichel kernel: CPU5: Package temperature above threshold,

Jan 25 07:09:36 Keschdeichel kernel: CPU3: Package temperature above threshold,

Given the CPU started to overheat you might want to log in remotely via
SSH from another machine and leave 'top' running. Then next time the
problem occurs tell us what is using all the CPU according to 'top'.

2019-01-24 Thread AaronMa
@ALinuxUser:

Just install 05w.exe will not update fw of touchpad, it is a known issue of
that package.
Please refer to comment #28.

Your issue is *different* from others.
Just complain without debug info uploaded will not help solve your issue.

[Bug 1798999] Re: firefox windows are black in Ubuntu 18.10

2019-01-24 Thread Linda
Similar thing happened to me in Ubuntu 18.04. Today is the first day of
my installation of 18.04. At first Firefox worked fine. Then I was
tweaking a few things after the system upgrade to 18.04, and added the
date to the top menu bar / task bar by typing "sudo gsettings set
org.gnome.desktop.interface clock-show-date true" in the terminal window
at the bash prompt. It didn't show the date, so I rebooted, and then it
showed the date. Then I clicked on Firefox. And it was not a black
screen, not a white screen, but a clear screen. That is, a transparent
screen.

"sudo apparmor_parser -R /etc/apparmor.d/usr.bin.firefox" fixed it for
me.

Thank you Olivier Tilloy (osomon) !

I have edited /etc/apparmor.d/usr.bin.firefox in the past when Firefox
gave a black screen, after updating to Firefox version 51.0.1 two years
ago. What fixed it the black screen then is described here:

  https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1334748#c7

but now my copy of usr.bin.firefox is the same as usr.bin.firefox.dpkg-
dist

which I think means it's the same as the current distribution file,
although I'm not sure, so I don't know what's going on or why this
happened.

I'm not sure what exactly will be needed, but the following would surely help.
Do you have a way to fetch the following while at the error condition and
attach it here?:
- sudo multipath -ll
- lsblk

[Bug 1813248] Re: Hang at screen unlock

2019-01-24 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
** Description changed:

- Auth from phone, will update description after reboot
+ For two days in a row (one would have been a one-off WTF that I don't
+ care to report) my system now hang after unlocking from the UI.
+
+ I can't see any obvious hanging processes that would be the obvious
+ reason.
+
+ OVer day I have a few screen locks e.g. when going for lunch, but at
+ least 2/2 times it only appeared when the lock was active over night.
+ I'm not sure it if it the duration or that some job kicks in at night.
+
+ I have used apport to collect the basics, and will add some more debug
+ data.
+
+ If you find a lead in there let me know, otherwise assuming I might face
+ this every morning please let me know what to check next time it happens
+ so that we can find the root cause.
+
+ I found similar bug 1285258 - but other than there I can NOT hit cancel
+ to get a second chance, nothing in the UI moves at all and all I can do
+ is drop to a non UI console with CTRL+ALT+F3 and debug from there.
+
+ I found that restarting gdm gets me logged in, therefore I'll also
+ attache a journal log so that you can look for issues in there.

[Bug 1631514] Re: snap doesnt work. error: cannot communicate with server

2019-01-24 Thread Timo Jyrinki
Just noting that at least with the latest snapd update I noticed there
was a helpful message:

"On a Tumbleweed system you need to run: systemctl enable
snapd.apparmor.service"

Ie, not only snapd service itself. With that bit, everything's working
as intended!

Maybe this is as far as it can go on openSUSE, although of course fully
automated enabling of snapd.service and snapd.apparmor.service would be
preferred.

[Bug 1813246] [NEW] Update gce-compute-image-packages to 20190124

2019-01-24 Thread Balint Reczey
Public bug reported:

[Impact]

compute-image-packages is provided by Google for installation within
guests that run on Google Compute Engine. It is a collection of tools
and daemons, packaged as gce-compute-image-packages, that ensure that
the Ubuntu images published to GCE run properly on their platform.

Cloud platforms evolve at a rate that can't be handled in six-month
increments, and they will often develop features that they would like to
be available to customers who don't want to upgrade from earlier Ubuntu
releases. As such, updating gce-compute-image-packages to more recent
upstream releases is required within all Ubuntu releases, so they
continue to function properly in their environment.

With this release we also add a new binary package to the suite -
google-compute-engine-oslogin which is for a future feature of using OS
Login on GCE VM instances.

[Test Case]

When a new version of gce-compute-image-packages is uploaded to
-proposed, the following will be done:

 * an image based on -proposed will be built for GCE and published to the
ubuntu-os-cloud-devel project
 * the CPC team will write new automated tests to cover new testable
functionality (if any) in the new package
 * the automated testing that the CPC team normally runs against GCE images
before they are published will be run against the -proposed image
 * the GCE team will be asked to validate that the new package addresses the
issues it is expected to address, and that the image passes their internal
image validation.

If all the testing indicates that the image containing the new package
is acceptable, verification will be considered to be done.

[Other Information]

This bug is used for tracking of releasing the new upstream version for
all supported series, as per the approved policy mentioned in the
following MRE:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/gce-compute-image-packages-Updates

[Original Bug Text]

GCE team has released some versions of its guest agents
(https://github.com/GoogleCloudPlatform/compute-image-packages/releases)
since you published your latest package version. So there are some new
features and bug fixes that would be great to have in all Ubuntu
releases. The current latest upstream version is 20181023.

This update also might help us doing some QA on Ubuntu GCE images, as
you can see here: https://k8s-testgrid.appspot.com/google-gce-compute-
image-tools#linux-image-tests=20

This is a test suite that is executed against all Linux distros images,
and since the beginning of this month Ubuntu has been tested too. This
test suite has been improved in order to support Ubuntu.

Thanks in advance.

I think this might be related to bug 1790525 or bug 1812359. So keep an
eye on those.

[Bug 1812359] Re: Login screen not appearing in bionic [Intel Atom D425]

2019-01-24 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks. That new log is nice and small. The errors of possible interest
in order are:

Jan 25 09:26:05 test org.gnome.Shell.desktop[736]: glamor: EGL version 1.4
(DRI2):
Jan 25 09:26:05 test org.gnome.Shell.desktop[736]: Require OpenGL version 2.1

Jan 25 09:26:05 test org.gnome.Shell.desktop[736]: Failed to initialize glamor,

Jan 25 09:26:18 test gnome-shell[736]: JS WARNING:
[resource:///org/gnome/shell/ui/windowManager.js 1468]: reference to undefined
property "MetaWindowXwayland"

The first one ending in "falling back to sw" is sad news that things are
not going to run very fast, but still they should run without crashing.
Although I do wonder if Xwayland can run under those conditions...

The second one "reference to undefined property "MetaWindowXwayland"" I
can't find many references to, but the most recent reference is bug
1790525, which is about old Intel GPUs and is not yet fixed in 18.04. In
fact the fix for that only reached 19.04 a couple of hours ago so to
test with that fix we will need to wait for some _future_ daily build of
19.04.

Next:

 * I have some old netbooks lined up to test when I have some free time
over the coming days. Hopefully I will find the time and hopefully I
will be able to reproduce the problem.

 * We should wait till some daily build of 19.04 (soon) contains the fix
for bug 1790525 (mutter >= 3.30.2-5), and then try that.

 * Right now please try this: Enable debugging (at the bottom of
/etc/gdm3/custom.conf) and then repeat the log collection steps.
