[Bug 1485955]

2019-02-09 Thread Raykowj
Hello All,

>From Jay's original post:

Step 3: While in a cell, click on the background color icon in the table
toolbar

IMHO, since this bug report is specific to the background color icon in
the table toolbar I believe the status of this bug report should be
changed to Fixed and that other related bugs should be opened in new bug
reports.

[Bug 1799855] Re: distribution upgrade bug - upgrading to 18.10

2019-02-09 Thread Chris Guiver
lubuntu 18.04.2 qa-test install: virtual machine on sony vaio ultrabook
(i5-9400u, 4gb, intel haswell-ULT); host is lubuntu 19.04

I didn't use `vim` to change sources, but found I could achieve equivalent with
synaptic [package manager] which was pre-installed on Lubuntu 18.04;
settings->repositories and selecting using drop down
australia->ftp.iinet.net.au. i made no other changes
(note: mine wasn't identical, I don't recall adding -backports & had 'main
universe multiverse restricted' for bionic, -updates, -security)

i `sudo vi /etc/update-manager/release-upgrades` ("=normal"); `sudo apt
update` (probably pointless but ..)

`do-release-upgrade -p`

..
6 installed packages are no longer supported by Canonical. You can ..
..
on questions I used default (eg. lightdm as it was highlighted, not sddm or
what I assume most users would do), package-maintainers-version, (y) remove
obselete packages (probabe some users are likely to choose no for this), reboot
(y)

login (after reboot), brief explore & it's LXQt desktop, reboot(vm) &
again login and [still] looks correct

[Bug 1778087] Re: ELAN1200 touchpad jumps around and disconnects

2019-02-09 Thread Abdulhalim Rafeik
I used to have the jumpiness problem too. The fix I found was installing
kernel 19.0 via ukuu. You don't even have to be running that kernel.
Just installing it fixed the erratic behavior of the touchpad.

Also, ubuntu 18.10 never ran well on my machine. Can't say for sure if
all FX503VDs are so "incompatible" with 18.10, but going back 18.04 and
installing kernel 19.0 seemed to be provide a more stable version on my
computer.

[Bug 1801782] Re: Main window maximizes width on the closing appplication.

2019-02-09 Thread Gordon Lack
OK. I had a thought.

Started in Safe Mode - all is OK.
So I then went around disabling all extensions and *as I disabled one* the
window maximized width-wise.
That extension is: CustomizeMyBird.

So I'll report the issue there instead.

Original report filed using Ubuntu 16.04 and Thunderbird 52.9.1
Confirmed using Ubuntu 18.10 and Thunderbird 60.2.1

In order to confirm the above report in Ubuntu I created a folder in one
of my IMAP accounts where all messages are set to be downloaded. The
"Select this folder for offline use" checkbox was selected as I would
expect sub-folders to inherit the properties of the main folder. I then
moved this test folder elsewhere in the folder tree.

Actual results:

The "Select this folder for offline use" check box was cleared.

Expected results:

The "Select this folder for offline use" check box should remain
checked.

I created a test folder at the account level.

Moved it to be under the [Gmail] folder where I have Drafts, Sent Mail, Trash,
Spam, Bugzilla and a couple other folders.
Checked "Properties > Synchronization" and the check mark was removed.
Reset the check mark to enable "Select this folder for offline use".
Then moved it again several times and it remained checked.

[Bug 1245473] Re: Binding ctrl+shift, alt+shift, etc for switching keyboard layout makes shortcuts with ctrl+shift, etc not working in any program

2019-02-09 Thread Mikhail Chabanov
! SOLUTION !

For myself I created temporary hack allowing to switch Keyboard layouts
(en<->ru) by Ctrl+Shift on key release. My method does not interfere
with other shortcuts. I use it myself on daily basis.

It's simple Python script which listen to Ctrl+Shift key combination and switch
layout on release.

[Bug 1815320] Re: Potential data loss in CryFS 0.9.9 (fixed in 0.9.10)

2019-02-09 Thread Sebastian Messmer
** Description changed:

CryFS 0.9.10 fixed a dead lock and a race condition, the latter of which
can cause data loss if the file system is under heavy load and accessed
  concurrently.

  Changelog: https://github.com/cryfs/cryfs/blob/0.9.10/ChangeLog.txt

Some user reports about the data loss:
  - https://github.com/cryfs/cryfs/issues/224
  - https://github.com/cryfs/cryfs/issues/237

This issue is fixed in 0.9.10 but stable Ubuntu versions (bionic, cosmic)
still distribute 0.9.9.
The package should be updated in the software repositories.

  Notes:
  - A 0.9.10 package is already in Debian and Ubuntu Disco, see
https://packages.debian.org/buster/cryfs and
https://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=cryfs
  - Debian will soon update to 0.10, and Ubuntu Disco is expected to follow.
However, older Ubuntu versions should not update to 0.10.0 but only to 0.9.10
to fix the data loss bug.
- - CryFS has an extensive test suite testing each release, the regression risk
is low.

  [Test Case]

Follow the instructions in the linked GitHub issues. Since this is a
race condition, it doesn't always manifest, but
https://github.com/cryfs/cryfs/issues/224 was quite stable to me:

- 1. Create a cryfs file system
+ 1. Create a file system using CryFS 0.9.9

  $ cryfs -f /tmp/basedir /tmp/mountdir

Note: the '-f' causes CryFS to run in foreground, i.e. you won't get
your terminal back. Keep it running and open a new terminal for the next
  commands.

  2. Create a video file in the mounted directory

  $ ffmpeg -i some_video_file.mp4 /tmp/mountdir/video.avi

  3. Open /tmp/mountdir/video.avi VLC and run it

  $ vlc /tmp/mountdir/video.avi

  4. While it is running, re-create it

  $ ffmpeg -i some_video_file.mp4 /tmp/mountdir/video.avi

  5. Observe the crash in the terminal running the CryFS process

+ 6. Try the same with CryFS 0.9.10 and observe that it doesn't crash.
+

  [Regression Potential]

The race condition was fixed in 0.9.10 using additional mutexes, so the
most likely regression is the introduction of a new deadlock.

- Generally, CryFS has a very extensive test suite and CI that is run on
- each commit and each release, see
- https://github.com/cryfs/cryfs/tree/0.9.10/test
+ Generally, CryFS has a very extensive test suite and CI that is run on each

[Bug 1815320] [NEW] Potential data loss in CryFS 0.9.9 (fixed in 0.9.10)

2019-02-09 Thread Sebastian Messmer
Public bug reported:

CryFS 0.9.10 fixed a dead lock and a race condition, the latter of which
can cause data loss if the file system is under heavy load and accessed
concurrently.

Changelog: https://github.com/cryfs/cryfs/blob/0.9.10/ChangeLog.txt

Some user reports about the data loss:
- https://github.com/cryfs/cryfs/issues/224
- https://github.com/cryfs/cryfs/issues/237

This issue is fixed in 0.9.10 but stable Ubuntu versions (bionic, cosmic) still
distribute 0.9.9.

- CryFS has an extensive test suite testing each release, the regression risk
is low.

[Test Case]

Follow the instructions in the linked GitHub issues. Since this is a
race condition, it doesn't always manifest, but
https://github.com/cryfs/cryfs/issues/224 was quite stable to me:

1. Create a cryfs file system

$ cryfs -f /tmp/basedir /tmp/mountdir

Note: the '-f' causes CryFS to run in foreground, i.e. you won't get
your terminal back. Keep it running and open a new terminal for the next
commands.

2. Create a video file in the mounted directory

$ ffmpeg -i some_video_file.mp4 /tmp/mountdir/video.avi

3. Open /tmp/mountdir/video.avi VLC and run it

$ vlc /tmp/mountdir/video.avi

4. While it is running, re-create it

$ ffmpeg -i some_video_file.mp4 /tmp/mountdir/video.avi

5. Observe the crash in the terminal running the CryFS process

[Regression Potential]

The race condition was fixed in 0.9.10 using additional mutexes, so the
most likely regression is the introduction of a new deadlock.

Generally, CryFS has a very extensive test suite and CI that is run on
each commit and each release, see
https://github.com/cryfs/cryfs/tree/0.9.10/test

(Pretty sure this is still a bug on the trunk, but reporting it against
45 because that's where I verified it today.)

1. Open the address book.

2. Do a search to limit which contacts are displayed.

3. Click on one of them, click the Delete button to delete it, and
confirm the delete.

4. Observe that your search term remains in the search box, but the
contact list has reset to everyone rather than to the contacts that
match the search.

The ideal behavior here would be for the search to persist properly
after the delete, i.e., the contact list would continue to list only the
contacts matching the search. Less ideal, but better than current
behavior, would be for the search box to be cleared after a delete. The
current behavior, where the search box remains filled in but is no
longer being applied, is clearly wrong.

Do you have multiple address books? It is possible that this issue only
occurs when there are multiple address books and you're searching /
filtering in "All Address Books" rather than just one of them.

Indeed, I just tested while a single address book rather than "All
Address Books" is selected, and it doesn't happen then.

any search applied (compare with

Sure. Just removing the call keeps the searchword and search applied,
but unfortunately the deleted entry doesn't disappear from view
(although it looses the addressbook attribute, interesting...)

So after deleting from All-AB, we'd have to update the search, similar
to that other spot which you referenced.

Surprisingly, just using the onEnterInSearchBar() routine will select
another AB after deleting.

[Bug 1815316] [NEW] File download popup in browsers isn't focused on filename input despite appearing focused

2019-02-09 Thread gert7

When I download a file in a browser, the systemwide download dialog
window with the file explorer comes up. When I start typing the window
starts searching for files in the current directory instead of letting
me name the file, even though the file name text input appears focused

[Bug 1815317] [NEW] Update gnome-online-accounts to 3.31.90

2019-02-09 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Public bug reported:

We should update gnome-online-accounts to 3.31.90 (Debian experimental
has the update).

GNOME has dropped its .png icons and replaced them with 128px .svg's. If
we did the same, we could drop our binary patch since an .svg isn't a
binary file.

GNOME also includes a 16px symbolic .svg but I don't think those are
used right now.

So although getting the 128px .svg from Canonical Design isn't
technically a blocker, I think it would be nice to get it for
consistency (and simplifying our patches a bit).

Came out straight-away. But this is not actually the behavior that I
want, because there's a black bar across the very bottom of the page
generated by the scanner that generated the document, and I _want_ that
bar to be hidden in the unprintable margin of the page; I don't want the
whole PDF image to be shrunk to fit within the page margins.

then I tried it also on an up-to-date Lubuntu 18.10 and found out, that
this bug is reproducible under certain circumstances. Additionally I

Using lxqt-runner it opens byobu in a gnome-terminal
Using lxqt-runner you cannot open gnome-terminal, because it is not

  WM_CLASS(STRING) = "gnome-terminal-server", "Gnome-terminal"
Ergo: It is not reproducible
  - install first byobu and in a second step gnome-terminal
Using lxqt-runner it opens byobu in a qterminal
  WM_CLASS(STRING) = "qterminal", "qterminal"
  WM_CLASS(STRING) = "gnome-terminal-server", "Gnome-terminal"

On 18.10, installing first gnome-terminal and then byobu: if you purge
gnome-terminal, byobu doesn't work anymore.

[Bug 1815312] Re: Kernel module "ideapad_laptop" kills WiFi on Lenovo Yoga C930 (18.10 Cosmic)

2019-02-09 Thread Peter Bittner
apport information

** Description changed:

I've just made a fresh install of Ubuntu 18.10 Cosmic on a brand-new
Lenovo Yoga C930. The installation went super-fast, but in the end there
  was no WiFi.

  $ uname -a
  Linux roma 4.18.0-10-generic #11-Ubuntu SMP Thu Oct 11 15:13:55 UTC 2018
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Turns out that I had to blacklist the kernel module "ideapad_laptop" to
make everything work just fine. Several sources report this online, e.g.
[¹]. I've been told on IRC #ubuntu that there's an alternative approach
to get this fixed w/o blacklisting, see [²].

Other Lenovo Yoga models seem to be affected likewise, e.g. the C920.
According to user jeremy31 on IRC this issue has existed for a few
years, and a user ryuo wrote the code he provides as a fix on GitHub.

Can this be fixed upstream to make a fresh installation "just work" out
  of the box?
