[Bug 1817451] Re: iconv error on command line for bg_BG on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, Hunspell 1.3.3

2019-02-23 Thread GunChleoc
** Description changed:

While trying to run Hunspell on the command line for the Bulgarian
locale, I get the following error:

-
- $ hunspell -d bg_BG
-   error - iconv_open: UTF-8 -> microsoft-cp1251
- Hunspell 1.3.3
-
+   $ hunspell -d bg_BG
+   error - iconv_open: UTF-8 -> microsoft-cp1251
+   Hunspell 1.3.3

  Operating system: Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

I guess the solution would be to reencode the dictionary as UTF-8?

I tried to supply the -i parameter, but without any luck.

[Bug 1803179] Re: System does not reliably come out of suspend

2019-02-23 Thread cowbean
This bug also affects the dell precision 5530, unsurprising perhaps
given the similarity with the xps 15 9570. Running with boot options
`acpi_rev_override=1 acpi_osi=Linux nouveau.modeset=0 pcie_aspm=force
drm.vblankoffdelay=1 scsi_mod.use_blk_mq=1 nouveau.runpm=0
mem_sleep_default=deep` is a better option so far, compared to
acpi_osi=`Windows 2009`, as that broke touchscreen and brightness keys
(not important), and also seemed to make battery life much worse (very
important).

Please let me know if there's any testing that would be helpful on this
machine.

[Bug 1817380] Re: Migrate from cron to systemd timers

2019-02-23 Thread Bryan Quigley
Nope (although that is nice - I personally care more about the other
restrictions you can do). I posted to devel-discuss about moving from
anacron/cron to timers
https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-devel-discuss/2019-February/018242.html

My count (in a disco LXD containder) we have 7 timers by default and 9
real cronjobs. (Anacron is also done via systemd timer now, so let's
skip a step..)

[Bug 1817228] Re: pip install scrapy and python -m pip install scrapy cause seg fault

2019-02-23 Thread Pete
I ran it with valgrind and turned binaries off for pip:

valgrind --log-file="scrapy-valgrind" --leak-check=yes pip install --no-
binary :all: --global-option build --global-option --debug scrapy

and it worked!

So this should work as well:

pip install --no-binary :all:

[Bug 1817449] Re: Lubuntu 19.04 lxqt-config-monitor fails

2019-02-23 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1817449/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1817422] Re: "vg0 is not a valid name for a volume group" if VG already exists

Yeah, I've hit this too. As with everything else, the "reusing existing
partitions" work is the answer, because that will include probing for
existing LVM/mdraid/etc devices.

What we're the chances that I needed a netboot of 16.04 today...

Looks like I am facing the same issue with Foreman + Proxmox + Netboot.
Is there a way to force the netboot from xenial-updates to test the fix?

We are having this exact problem with a regular PXE boot as well (not
using Xen).

As mentioned by previous posters, 18.04 still works but 16.04 stopped
working as soon as this bug was introduced.

Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 18.10

When setting gnome to display the preferences menu in the title bar, the

Application icon is displayed too big and not centred within the event
hitbox.

(Doesn't happen in different applications and happens with every gnome
theme.)

[Bug 1759014] Re: Netplan has no way to control DHCP client

Another vote here, fighting this sadness with some VERY sad wrapper
scripts. Netplan should never have been in any LTS if it can not support
some of these basic options, honestly.

[Bug 1817419] Re: USB ports conflict with each other

2019-02-23 Thread udippel
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected bionic

** Description changed:

Here I am running a lenovo Helix 2 on a lenovo dock. The dock works
(except of the HDMI output, which is another case and filed elsewhere).

So the dock works with headphones, ethernet and its 3 USB-plugs. However, the
latter seem to influence each other, like in the good old days when an
interrupt was shared.
I run a Logitech receiver for mouse and keyboard on the dock, which works
fine. This is how it looks like:
  $ lsusb
Bus 002 Device 005: ID 2109:8113 VIA Labs, Inc.
  Bus 002 Device 004: ID 17ef:3052 Lenovo

Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

However, when I plug an external hard disk (2.5") into another USB-plug, the
movements of the mouse and the keystrokes are 90% of the time ineffective,
respectively the mouse can almost never be moved. Here is how it looks like:
  $ lsusb

Removing the hard disk from the dock, respectively plugging the receiver
into the tablet itself, solve this problem immediately.

[Bug 1817419] Re: USB ports conflict with each other

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1817419/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1817431] [NEW] package lightdm 1.18.1-0ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: sub-processo script post-installation instalado retornou estado de saída de erro 1

2019-02-23 Thread Weiller
Public bug reported:

weiller@weiller-MS-7641:~$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 16.04.6 LTS
Release:16.04

weiller@weiller-MS-7641:~$ sudo apt-cache policy lightdm
lightdm:
  Installed: 1.18.1-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 1.18.3-0ubuntu1.1

Packages
 *** 1.18.1-0ubuntu1 500
500 http://br.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/main amd64 Packages

I expected it to update to the current version. But when I turn on the
computer, I expect it to load and when it arrives the part that would be the
appearance of the login screen, it simply does not start getting a black screen
but nothing happens. For me to dribble this screen, I have to press the CTRL +
ALT + F1, enter Terminal mode with my user and password to from there I enter
with the command "Startx". When I start, it has been asking me for a password
to reorto an error. I do not deny and report anyway. But this is making me
intrigued because whenever I have to go into command mode (Terminal) to start
the system and I use this way but I believe it is some previous update package
because some updates came a couple of days ago and after these updates, LightDM
started to give this problem. This has happened to me a few times but I have
always reinstalled the system. But this time I decided to report the bug to a
possible solution.
Just forgive me if the translation is not 100% because I write in Portuguese to
translate with Google Translate and send it to you. I hope I can be helpful in
reporting this error so that I can get a fix as soon as possible.
I know I have a current version in the repository. It has this 1.18 and has one
in the unstable repository 1.28. But I already installed and with all
dependencies but the problem has not been solved. If I knew to send an update
log two days ago or three days ago, the modifications that were made, you would
probably be able to solve the problem from there since it started from that
update. I just do not update Xubuntu to version 18.04 because I'm afraid of
appearing more bugs and as this version has a long support, I decided to keep
on expiring and then, having better conditions, I do the Update.

I hope I have helped and anything I will be at your disposal. In the
meantime I will use the system this way while I await a solution coming
from you. Thank you very much.

[Bug 1773386] Re: Returned to login screen immediately after login

2019-02-23 Thread Mark Krueger
Update on my previous comment (#4): I checked what "pam-auth-update
--force" did (it backs up the old versions), and ended up accepting all
its changes so that I will hopefully never have this problem going
forward. Because it added pam_systemd to common-session I have now
removed the line I added to gdm-launch-environment and gdm3 still works
(even with Wayland).
