[Bug 1814095] Re: bnxt_en_po: TX timed out triggering Netdev Watchdog Timer
Terry, We've had a lot of discussion over this bug. It does not have a reliable reproducer, and I have not yet received any acks on testing of the above. Our thinking was that it was still better to patch it since it has been seen by the mainline driver as well and we'd like to avoid a re-occurrence of the situation. The need is to have the fix be available in the Xenial official bits, for sure (rather than providing a temporary test kernel via our ppa or something, for instance). FWIW, here are the boards in question: enum board_idx { BCM57301, BCM57417_NPAR, BCM58700, BCM57311, BCM57312, BCM57402, BCM57402_NPAR, BCM57407, BCM57412, BCM57414, BCM57416, BCM57417, BCM57412_NPAR, BCM57314, BCM57417_SFP, BCM57416_SFP, BCM57404_NPAR, BCM57406_NPAR, BCM57407_SFP, BCM57407_NPAR, BCM57414_NPAR, BCM57416_NPAR, BCM57452, BCM57454, NETXTREME_E_VF, NETXTREME_C_VF, }; Per conversation with Brad and Jay, it was agreed that patching the bnxt_en_bpo driver only with this fix was the way to go, despite the lack of a reproducer, rather than pulling in an entire new driver from Broadcom as also potentially mulled over. The FW version the issue was hit on: firmware-version: 20.8.163/1.8.4 pkg 20.08.04.03 But it might be best to test with latest available firmware (214.0.166/1.9.2 pkg 21.40.16.6 or later). Not sure if that helps? Let me know if I can address anything else. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1814095 Title: bnxt_en_po: TX timed out triggering Netdev Watchdog Timer To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1814095/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 1787743] Re: Slow USB mouse input on linux-lowlatency
Bug still occurs on my systems as well, all up-to-date using the standard upgrade channels on 18.10. When the mouse input isn't slow, the mouse input skips around a bit instead. For example, when dragging and dropping an item in any program (whether it's GIMP, Nautilus, etc.), the computer "let's go" of the left-click button and stops moving only momentarily enough for the item to drop in the same point where my mouse 'lost connection.' Occurs when using a variety of different system mice. I'm seeing this in a slightly different situation .. I'm running an xpra server which starts its own pulseaudio server; something to do with running Chrome and attempting to play video randomly results in everything in /dev/shm getting deleted, which leads the shm errors reported above. I made sure to set RemoveIPC=no in /etc/systemd/logind.conf, but systemd does not seem to be the culprit. I've tried using auditd to see what is wiping the files, but nothing is showing. [Bug 1818134] Re: modprobe: ERROR: could not insert 'wl': Package not installed ubuntu14.04.5LTS kernel 3.13.0-165-generic
I had a look at my Updates history in Ubuntu Software Centre for the last couple of weeks to see if I could spot any "likely culprits", and I see that on the 18th February the 'dkms' package got bumped from 2.2.0.3-1.1ubuntu5.14.04.9 to 2.2.0.3-1.1ubuntu5.14.04.10 and the 'shim- signed' package got bumped from 1.33.1~14.0.4.3+13-0ubuntu2 to 1.33.1~14.0.4.4+13-0ubuntu2 I found https://askubuntu.com/questions/138284/how-to-downgrade-a -package-via-apt-get and 'apt-cache policy dkms' tells me that only versions 2.2.0.3-1.1ubuntu5.14.04.10 , 2.2.0.3-1.1ubuntu5.14.04.5 and 2.2.0.3-1.1ubuntu5 are available (not 2.2.0.3-1.1ubuntu5.14.04.9), so I tried 'sudo aptitude install dkms=2.2.0.3-1.1ubuntu5.14.04.5` and got the following output: The following packages will be DOWNGRADED: dkms 0 packages upgraded, 0 newly installed, 1 downgraded, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded. [Bug 1765998] Re: FS access deadlock with btrfs quotas enabled
I see, thanks for the info. I'll report my findings so far here, in case it turns out useful to some future person landing on this bug later: The call trace of the deadlocked btrfs-cleaner kthread is as follows. Tainted: P OE4.15.0-45-generic #48-Ubuntu btrfs-cleaner D0 7969 2 0x8000 Call Trace: __schedule+0x291/0x8a0 schedule+0x2c/0x80 btrfs_tree_read_lock+0xcc/0x120 [btrfs] ? wait_woken+0x80/0x80 find_parent_nodes+0x295/0xe90 [btrfs] ? _cond_resched+0x19/0x40 btrfs_find_all_roots_safe+0xb0/0x120 [btrfs] ? btrfs_find_all_roots_safe+0xb0/0x120 [btrfs] btrfs_find_all_roots+0x61/0x80 [btrfs] btrfs_qgroup_trace_extent_post+0x37/0x60 [btrfs] [...] I'm not including the bottom of the call trace because it varies: the common part does start from btrfs_qgroup_trace_extent_post and up however. The caller of btrfs_qgroup_trace_extent_pos can be either - btrfs_qgroup_trace_extent+0xee/0x110 [btrfs], or - btrfs_add_delayed_tree_ref+0x1c6/0x1f0 [btrfs], or - btrfs_add_delayed_data_ref+0x30a/0x340 [btrfs] This happens on 4.15 (Ubuntu flavor), on 4.18 (Ubuntu flavor "HWE"), 4.20.13 (vanilla). On 4.20.0 (vanilla) and 5.0-rc8 (vanilla), there is also a deadlock under similar conditions, but the call trace of the deadlocked btrfs- transaction kthread looks different: Tainted: P OE 4.20.0-042000-generic #201812232030 btrfs-transacti D0 8665 2 0x8000 Call Trace: __schedule+0x29e/0x840 ? btrfs_free_path+0x13/0x20 [btrfs] schedule+0x2c/0x80 btrfs_commit_transaction+0x715/0x840 [btrfs] ? wait_woken+0x80/0x80 transaction_kthread+0x15c/0x190 [btrfs] kthread+0x120/0x140 ? btrfs_cleanup_transaction+0x560/0x560 [btrfs] ? __kthread_parkme+0x70/0x70 ret_from_fork+0x35/0x40 Other userspace threads are locked at the same time. So we seem to be dealing with at least 2 different deadlock cases which seem to happen with lots of subvolumes and/or snapshots, and quota enabled. All of this disappears with quota disabled. For the record, the main btrfs qgroups dev seems to have a lot of pending changes / fixes coming around this, expected for 5.1 or 5.2. Stay tuned... I have disabled quota for now. I only enable it for a short period of time when I need to get size information about my subvols and snapshots. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1765998 Title: FS access deadlock with btrfs quotas enabled To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1765998/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1798363]
This bug is present on an Asus FX504G. It does not matter if one is running Synaptics or libinput. The error message will eventually cause the touchpad to stop operating completely. It will start working again after a period of time. However, to have it operate again immediately, I have to type: rmmod hid-multitouch && modprobe hid-multitouch in a root terminal. [Bug 1783298] Re: [SRU] AuthInfoRequired negotiate in cups 2.2.7 in Bionic does not work
Thanks Esko for your investigations. I have uploaded and appropriately patched CUPS package for Bionic now. As soon as it gets approved you will be asked for testing here. Please do the testing then and give us feedback whether it solves your problem, so that we can make the fix an official update for Bionic. ** Description changed: + [Impact] + + If a print queue is set up with "auth-info-required=negotiate" because + the server requires authentication (for example Kerberos) the user is + asked for user name and password on every jon, insteaf of the + authentication working automatically. This worked correctly in 14.04 and + 16.04. + + Also setting "AuthType Default" for "/" in cupsd.conf leads to be + prompted for a password on commands like "lpatat -a", even for root. + Works correctly in Xenial and Cosmic. + + [Test Case] + + Set up a queue pointing to a Kerberos-authenticated Windows server with + "lpadmin ... -o auth-info-required=negotiate ..." OR set "AuthType + Default" for "/" in cupsd.conf. When printing or running other commands + accessing your print queue you will get prompted for credentials. With + the fix the authentication will get automatic again. + + [Regression Potential] + + Low, as the fix are simple one-line corrections taken from upstream. + + [Original report] Hi, We have our printers configured to print to a Windows print server. In Ubuntu 14.04 and 16.04 our setup works fine but in 18.04 our setup seems to be acting more like AuthInfoRequired username, password i.e. it prompts for a password when printing rather than using the available Kerberos credentials. We are using an unaltered cupsd.conf file and are adding printers with the following command: lpadmin -p "printer" -D "Printer" -L "room" -v "smb://printers.cis.strath.ac.uk/printers" -o Media=A4 -o PageSize=A4 -o printer-error-policy=abort-job -o auth-info-required=negotiate -m "CIS /hp-officejet_pro_476_576_series-ps.ppd" the smb backend has been linked to /usr/lib/x86_64-linux- gnu/samba/smbspool_krb5_wrapper (I've added this the apparmor profile as it's blocked by default) and the permissions on this file changed to 700 (owner root) as per manpage instructions. When using lp -d printer /tmp/test.txt I get the following response: Password for myuid on localhost? Typing my password gets the job accepted to the queue but it does spool to the Windows Print Server and in the error_log file I can see D [24/Jul/2018:10:33:00 +0100] [Job 45] SMBSPOOL_KRB5 - AUTH_INFO_REQUIRED=negotiate D [24/Jul/2018:10:33:00 +0100] [Job 45] SMBSPOOL_KRB5 - Started with uid=0 D [24/Jul/2018:10:33:00 +0100] [Job 45] SMBSPOOL_KRB5 - AUTH_UID is not set As I said earlier this all works perfectly on Xenial and Trusty. (A similar AuthInfoRequired negotiate setup also works in cups 2.2.5 on MacOS 10.13) Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks, Ian. [Bug 1818395] [NEW] Please demote lightdm greeter recommends to suggests
Public bug reported: Please see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/indicator- datetime/+bug/1754872/comments/25 for some background on this bug report. I'd like to request that the lightdm greeter Recommends... unity-greeter | lightdm-greeter (virtual package) | lightdm-kde-greeter be moved to Suggests. It seems the apt installation order causes unity- greeter (and other unity components) to be installed along with lightdm- gtk-greeter when installing the xubuntu-desktop task. Since each of the lightdm greeters should depend on lightdm, I think this change helps make greeter installation more explicit and should prevent the installation of multiple greeters when only one is needed or requested. ** Affects: lightdm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1818395 Title: Please demote lightdm greeter recommends to suggests To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lightdm/+bug/1818395/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
