*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1809407 ***

Another thing that I have noticed is that this problem only arises when
I click suspend or close the lid. If the laptop naturally goes sleep
then this problem doesn't occur.

[Bug 1823351] Please test proposed package

2019-04-25 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
Hello Andrea, or anyone else affected,

Accepted update-notifier into bionic-proposed. The package will build
now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-
notifier/3.192.1.6 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-bionic to verification-done-bionic. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-bionic. In either case, without details of
your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

2019-04-25 Thread Fritz Hudnut
@Walter:

I'm sure you don't need me to confirm, but, just to confirm, your
instructions to "reload" the desktop folder does work to clean up the
desktop of this non-existent file . . . easy enough to do.

As I posted on the bug, I did try to run Alf's series of commands . . . and
w/o something from "sources" the whole series of commands "E'd" out . . .
. So perhaps some further work has to be done "upstream"??? He seems to
be the guy who is part of the team that has responded to this bug . . . in
a sense "non-critical" . . . but on the aesthetic level . . . "critical" .
. . .

[Bug 1826409] Re: [19.04] Input method (keyboard) not respected

2019-04-25 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1826409/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you

[Bug 1792329] Re: Firefox freezes continuously on Ubuntu 16.04

2019-04-25 Thread Stefano Dall'Agata
It happens with more than one open card, especially with Facebook.
I have the swap configured, with Ubuntu it can be about 300 Mb in swap.
It seems to me that random happens without apparent similarities between the
cases, and since February it has never happened again.

[Bug 1826290] Re: geoclue mozilla location api key rate limited

2019-04-25 Thread Junaid Rasheed
I tried it around 02:00 UTC on 25 April so the daily limit was probably
reset by the time you tested it. I did check around and came across this
issue on geoclue's GitLab
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/geoclue/geoclue/issues/101

The geoclue key probably has a high daily limit but it's probably being
reached a few hours before the daily limit is reset.

ok. thanks for clarifying

yes:

-rw-r--r-- 1 mc mc 13005 Apr 5 23:08 /home/mc/.config/dconf/user
-rw--- 1 mc mc 2 Apr 25 08:13 /run/user/1000/dconf/user

odd that /home//.config/dconf/user has not been written-to since 5
april

> - how do the virt-manager values appear with dconf-editor for you?

all 'stats' values are set to defaults.

> - can you persists the values with dconf-editor?

this does not work for me. i can change the value in dconf-editor but the
change is not persistent. quitting dconf-editor after making enable-disk-poll
"true" the setting reverts to "false" (the default). there is no error
message written to syslog or to the terminal. this is odd.

as you hint, something must be broken. how can i debug this issue? is there
an error log somewhere?

regards,
m.mccool

[Bug 1824430] Re: disco dist-upgrader tarball has a broken symlink in it

2019-04-25 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
Hello Steve, or anyone else affected,

Accepted ubuntu-release-upgrader into disco-proposed. The package will
build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
/ubuntu-release-upgrader/1:19.04.16.2 in a few hours, and then in the
-proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-disco to verification-done-disco. If it does not fix
the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag
to verification-failed-disco. In either case, without details of your
testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

[Bug 1824430] Re: disco dist-upgrader tarball has a broken symlink in it

2019-04-25 Thread Brian Murray
** Description changed:

- On upgrade from cosmic to disco, I was shown a bogus message about
- livepatch:
+ [Impact]
+ The dist upgrade process is running old code from cosmic not the new code
from disco, which can cause upgrades to go awry in unexpected ways.

- Livepatch security updates are not available for Ubuntu 19.04. If you
+ [Test Case]
+ 1) mkdir -p /var/snap/canonical-livepatch/common
+ 2) touch /var/snap/canonical-livepatch/common/machine-token
+ 3) run do-release-upgrade
+
+ With the version of the dist-upgrader in proposed (obtained via do-
+ release-upgrade -p) you will not see the bogus error message cited in
+ the original description.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+ None that I can think of, we are fixing a regression here.
+
+ Original Description
+
+ On upgrade from cosmic to disco, I was shown a bogus message about livepatch:
+
+   Livepatch security updates are not available for Ubuntu 19.04. If you
  upgrade, Livepatch will turn off.

I'm upgrading from cosmic, which has no livepatch support, so I
  shouldn't be shown this message.

Bug #1816423 seems to be the same symptom, but that is reported as
  fixed.

[Bug 1826394] Re: IPv6 not being brought up on interface after enabling (and subsequently disabling & rebooting) UFW

2019-04-25 Thread nine borbs
Additional information:

I've tried to reproduce this with a virtual machine to no effect -
including installing cosmic, enabling firewall, upgrading to disco and
seeing if it still occurs. As of yet, I have not managed to reproduce it
(save for the fact that this exact problem is affecting two disco
installations with very similar software setup).

I will continue trying to reproduce and update when I have more
information.

@-pc:~$ debuild

Command 'debuild' not found, but can be installed with:

sudo apt install devscripts

@-pc:~$ apt install ./*deb ^C"

I cancelled out of it at the "./*deb" line as all of the previous commands
had failed So, apparently I do need to find some "sources" for this to
work ??? And install some stuff??

2019-04-25 Thread TuxVinyards
Update to 2 hours ago:

Started getting segfault problems with libglib. Again re-install fixed
that but then I was getting segfaults elsewhere too.

I have now reverted to a full system backup of 18.10 that I made earlier
&& will probably stay on that for a bit longer.

[Bug 1826420] [NEW] Nautilus disk properties shows black circle

2019-04-25 Thread Wolf Rogner
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 19.04 / Nautilus 3.32.0 stable (?)

Mounting a disk (which does not show on the desktop may I add here as
well) and asking for disk properties gives a black circle.

Expected behaviour: different colours for used and unused parts, maybe
gray for the unusable meta data.

Current behaviour: a black disk telling me nothing.

(I have no idea as to why a perfectly working file manager had to get
crippled further, but someone managed).

I do have a custom theme but it happens with the default theme as well.

(Sorry my tone gets harsher every time but I really get tired being an
alpha tester).

[Bug 1825919] Re: Gedit right click context menu stops working

2019-04-25 Thread PJSingh5000
It just happened now...

When this happened, I had right clicked on a misspelled work in a
Firefox text area. I didn't get a popup context menu; I thought it was
just Firefox acting up.

So, I switched to my open Gedit window, to cut the correctly spelled
word from my text document, and the context menu in Gedit wouldn't work
either.

It didn't work for a while. But as I started to research and copy logs
in order to collect information to post here, the right click context
menu magically started to work again, after some time.

I'll post the journalctl out put here. The issue happened around 10:19
in the logs...

[Bug 1822340] Re: [UIFe] motd messaging rewrite

2019-04-25 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
Hello Julian, or anyone else affected,

Accepted update-notifier into trusty-proposed. The package will build
now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-
notifier/0.154.1ubuntu6 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-trusty to verification-done-trusty. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-trusty. In either case, without details of
your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

[Bug 1826238] Re: apparmor doesn't allow to start with a non-root user

2019-04-25 Thread Simon Déziel
A better workaround until this is officially fixed might be to use the
local/ includes like this:

  echo ' capability setpcap,' >> /etc/apparmor.d/local/usr.lib.ipsec.charon
  echo ' capability setpcap,' >> /etc/apparmor.d/local/usr.sbin.charon-systemd

  apparmor_parser -r -T -W /etc/apparmor.d/usr.lib.ipsec.charon
  apparmor_parser -r -T -W /etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.charon-systemd

service strongswan restart # or service strongswan-swanctl restart

[Bug 1826416] [NEW] [Xenial] Customer can not SSH to Linux VM due to "VSC State Unhealthy"

2019-04-25 Thread Joseph Salisbury via ubuntu-bugs
Public bug reported:

A mutual customer is reporting ssh is not working on a Xenial based VM.
This VM is running the 4.4 based Xenial kernel and not a custom linux-
azure kernel.

After an investigation this is a known old signaling issue. The 4.4
based Xenial kernels require the following patch:

vmbus: fix missing signaling in hv_signal_on_read()

The patch is not in the upstream stable 4.4 tree, because it’s not
needed there.

Compared to the upstream 4.4 tree, Ubuntu 4.4.0-124-generic integrated
more hv patches from the mainline kernel, e.g. Drivers: hv: vmbus:
finally fix hv_need_to_signal_on_read(), so it must pick up the above
patch.

We checked the latest Ubuntu 4.4 kernel
(https://kernel.ubuntu.com/git/ubuntu/ubuntu-
xenial.git/tree/?h=Ubuntu-4.4.0-146.172) and the patch is also absent
there.

The patch (13c5e97701091f9b02ded0c68809f8a6b08c747a) can be cleanly
cherry-picked into Ubuntu-4.4.0-146.172.

[Bug 1826415] [NEW] Videos do not play in presentation mode

2019-04-25 Thread Karl Kastner
Public bug reported:

It is not possible to play embedded videos in the presentation mode.
This affects PDF slides created with the beamer/multimedia latex
package. Initially, no controls are shown on the slide with the video.
In the normal mode, video controls appear when the video is clicked with
the mouse. However, in the presentation mode, evince goes to the next
page when one clicks with the mouse so that the controls do not appear
and the video can only be played by exiting the presentation mode.
Playing videos works fine in presentation mode with the okular PDF-
viewer.

The autofirma package can be downloaded from:

https://firmaelectronica.gob.es/Home/Descargas.html

You click in "Autofirma para Linux" and download a zip file that
contains the deb package and some documentation in Spanish (if you think
there might be something useful in the documentation or in the comments
in the scripts or wherever, just ask me for translation).

Hello Matthias, or anyone else affected,

Accepted python-stdlib-extensions into bionic-proposed. The package will
build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
/python-stdlib-extensions/2.7.16-2~18.04 in a few hours, and then in the

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-bionic to verification-done-bionic. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-bionic. In either case, without details of
your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at

advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)

[Bug 1802944] Re: error: unsupported configuration: Target domain machine type

2019-04-25 Thread richud
Hi Christian,

(I posted to the Redhat list a while ago but it didn't seem to thread
and was thus ignored.)

Anyway I just upgraded to Disco yesterday and have run into a similar
problem with broken snapshots on the first one I tried'Property
.osxsave' not found. [SandyBridge CPU model]

After using your PPA I was able to fix it removing this from snapshot.

If Redhat won't I hope Ubuntu are at least able to carry this patch going
forward, I can't believe no one else gets these sort of easily fixable problems
with older snapshots.
Thanks again for all your efforts. R

[Bug 1826399] [NEW] Wallpaper going all grey with gnome-tweak

2019-04-25 Thread Victor Moreliere
Public bug reported:

Hello,

I recently upgrade from ubuntu 18.04 to 19.04. I have noticed that
sometimes my wallpaper is completely grey and with some "glitch" (I
think it's when i put on stand by my computer and I retart. More over I
saw that this display bug appears when I'm in zoom mode with my gnome-
tweak's wallpaper but it's working when i'm in wallpaper or centered
mode (even if the position of the image is not fine but that was already
the case in 18.04).

Good luck.

[Bug 1826385] Re: ftrace in ubuntu_kernel_selftests hang with Cosmic kernel

2019-04-25 Thread Tyler Hicks
I was able to verify that deleting
ftrace/test.d/kprobe/multiple_kprobes.tc allows the remaining ftrace
selftests (from the cosmic kernel tree) to pass. That suggests that the
"Register/unregister many kprobe events" (multiple_kprobes.tc) test is
the test that puts the system into a bad state.

[Bug 1826410] [NEW] Please package libbpf (which is done out of the kernel src) in Debian

2019-04-25 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
Public bug reported:

Hi,
Debian packages libbpf and so far does so out of the kernel source [1].
There is some movement to separate that from the kernel source [2] but this
isn't ready yet. So far it is just a sync of the subtree out of the kernel
sources.

Since we do not share our kernel packaging we will not get this for-free
without doing anything.
If there will be an ITP about it in Debian I'll let you know and we can abort
this, but unless that really happens I wanted to ask if you could as well build
the libbpf* packages for 19.10 and onward?

Note: this is not the same bpf lib as [3] despite the similarity in
names.

[Bug 1778160] Proposed package upload rejected

2019-04-25 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
An upload of gnome-software to xenial-proposed has been rejected from
the upload queue for the following reason: "Since this upload includes
the same change for 'new media API' as others, I would feel much safer
if we set a minimal version depenency to libsnapd-glib-dev (>= 1.45) -
since it seems there was more than one snapd-glib version in xenial.".

[Bug 1754655] Proposed package upload rejected

2019-04-25 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
An upload of gnome-software to xenial-proposed has been rejected from
the upload queue for the following reason: "Since this upload includes
the same change for 'new media API' as others, I would feel much safer
if we set a minimal version depenency to libsnapd-glib-dev (>= 1.45) -
since it seems there was more than one snapd-glib version in xenial.".
