[Bug 1826316] Re: [amdgpu] two 4K monitor setup - resolution not properly recognized

2019-04-28 Thread Miroslav Spehar
so, wayland started working properly.

steps:
1. fresh ubuntu install
2. 1st login done in wayland -> max resolution wrongly recognized to be rather
low (1200x800); scaling is disabled because of that
3. logout
4. login to xorg -> resolution properly recognized; i could set scaling to 200%
5. logout
6. login to wayland -> resolution properly recognized (i.e. physical monitor
resoultion can now be seen in the dropdown menu), but default values for
resolution (1200x800) and refresh rate (30) wrongly set; only one monitor
(secondary) was usable because the primary was having wrong refresh rate ->
when i set refresh rate to 60, primary monitor started to work again.

That sounds good then.

If the system has marked the crash report as either uploaded or invalid
then you shouldn't see the popup anymore.

I don't think there's anything left to do here.

OK, it sounds like the file '/var/crash/_sbin_plymouthd.0.crash' is
corrupt. Please just delete it:

  sudo rm /var/crash/_sbin_plymouthd.0.crash

Then reboot and tell us if that stops the message from popping up.

Please try this instead:

  sudo apport-cli /var/crash/_sbin_plymouthd.0.crash

As for the whoopsie-id, I can now see we haven't received any crash
reports on that since December 2018. So your machine seems to have
stopped sending crash reports automatically.

[Bug 1710023] Re: 4.10.0-30-generic...sdhci_pci driver does not detect microSDXC while 4.8.0-36-generic works with same hardware

2019-04-28 Thread Andrew Conley
FYI: I tried using my SD card again after a fresh install of Ubuntu
19.04 (kernel 5.0.0-13-generic) and my SD card (SD Host controller: O2
Micro, Inc. SD/MMC Card Reader Controller (rev 01)) now works properly.
I have a ThinkPad E580.

[Bug 1795116] Re: large performance regression (~20-40%) in wifi with 4.15.0-33 and later

2019-04-28 Thread arQon
Hooray, it seems that it has - but possibly only partially.

Peak and Avg throughput were both a few % down compared to -32, but well
within the sort of variance wifi suffers from. High-70s for download is
certainly good enough to use.

What's less encouraging, to the point of being an outright concern, is the
UPLOAD rate. That has consistently peaked at 100Mb/s with -32 over the past
several months, with averages not much lower, but remains massively worse in
the current kernel: somewhere around 60Mb/s. I've only had time to run one
batch of tests on it, so it could have been an extremely unlucky fluke, but
like I say, it's worrying.
I'll do some more testing when I get the chance.

[Bug 1826820] [NEW] calling setjmp destruct a variable

2019-04-28 Thread Takakazu Satoh
Public bug reported:

In Ubuntu 18.04 armhf with gcc-7, the following code, which compiles
normally, gives incorrect result (on my machine, -964176505 instead of
correct value 1).

#include
#include

jmp_buf a[10] ;
jmp_buf * volatile sp = a ;

int main()
{
if (setjmp(*sp++) == 0) {
printf("diff=%td\n", sp-a) ;
return 0 ;
}
return 1 ;
}

Additional information:
The above code gives correct answer on Ubuntu 16.04 x86_64 gcc 5.4.
If I replace '*sp++' with '*++sp', the program gives correct value 1.

[Bug 1826786] Re: High CPU usage of the Xorg process

2019-04-28 Thread Daniel van Vugt
This appears to be a combination of multiple issues:

 * Firefox doesn't support hardware video decoding.

 * Your CPU doesn't support hardware video decoding.

 * Firefox is software-rendered.

So I don't think the high CPU of Xorg or any other related process is
unexpected or a bug. Except maybe in your final statement:

> When I close firefox xorg ix in excution in the same way.

Can you please explain what that means?

[Bug 1826636] Re: Xorg freeze

2019-04-28 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To
help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps:

1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine.
Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please
send the links to us.

3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921,
reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security
risk for yourself.

[Bug 1826606] Re: mouse sometimes only works after system reboot

2019-04-28 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Please:

1. Reproduce the problem.

2. Reboot to fix the problem and then run:

   journalctl -b-1 > prevboot.txt

   and send us the file 'prevboot.txt'

If you could still log in using just the keyboard while the mouse was
dead and didn't need to reboot, then use this command instead:

   journalctl -b0 > curboot.txt

[Bug 1826316] Re: [amdgpu] two 4K monitor setup - resolution not properly recognized

2019-04-28 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks!

It looks like the problem is indeed confined to Wayland sessions, if it
is a problem at all.

If you have display scaling set to a value of around 300% then a
reported desktop resolution of 1280xSomething is expected and not a bug.

In a Wayland session, please open [Settings > Devices > Screen Display]
and take a screenshot of that window. Then attach it here.

[Bug 1826201] Re: MP4 Video playback is broken in Ubuntu 19.04

2019-04-28 Thread Daniel van Vugt
'mpv' is not a video format, it is a video player.

Please run:

  sudo apt install mpv

and then use it to play your video(s):

  mpv YOURFILE.mp4

Tell us if that works and also send us the terminal text output it
shows.

Please try this instead:

As for the whoopsie-id, I can now see we haven't received any crash
reports on that since December 2018. So your machine seems to have
stopped sending crash reports automatically.

As per bug 779039#c14, this checkin
https://git.gnome.org/browse/mutter/commit/?id=383ba566bd7c2a76d0856015a66e47caedef06b6
makes gnome-shell use ~80% cpu of one core out of 4 (I am running a
skylake corei5) constantly when running something like glxgears.

Reverting the patch brings down cpu usage to around 3% when running glxgears.
In addition, this makes my cpu temperature increase by ~5 degrees.

GPU temperature and usage don't seem to be affect. Only CPU usage is.
I am using a NVIDIA kepler card.

I can also confirm this issue, gnome-shell hits around 80% CPU usage on

have tried as well. Reverting the patch mentioned by Hussam brings the

I also noticed that this patch have improved responsiveness when moving

without the load on the CPU, the decrease in FPS became visible. This is all
tested on a proprietary Nvidia + 650GTX.

[Bug 1826800] [NEW] Linux kernel hard lockup

2019-04-28 Thread bje
Public bug reported:

I don't have a lot of information to dd, but running kernel
4.15.0-48-generic was leading to frequent hard lockups. Rolling back to

[Bug 1152226] Re: nautilus no longer remembers view per directory

2019-04-28 Thread tellapu
Any progress on this?
I would really appreciate if this feature can return to Nautilus! And probably
many others, too, 46 people are waiting on this bug report's progress and there
are surely thousands more.
THANKS in advance!

PS: The assigned "gnome-bugs #683802" (https://gitlab.gnome.org/683802) is
empty. There is another bug report on gitlab regarding this
(https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/issues/58) which is closed and linked
to Gnome Bugzilla (https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=683802).
