[Bug 1828353] [NEW] Synaptic internal parser for sources.list chokes on some external repos

2019-05-09 Thread Sergio Callegari
Public bug reported:

The synaptic package manager has a menu entry Settings->Repositories to
configure the software repos.

When you ask for this functionality, there seem to be two possible
outcomes:

1) If synaptic finds software-properties-gtk installed, then is
activates it, leaving to it the task of letting the user configure the
repos.

2) If it cannot find software-properties-gtk, then it resorts to an
internal parser for the sources.list files (including those in
sources.list.d) and it displays by itself a dialog for their
configuration.

The issues are with the second scenario.

- First of all, the internal parser seems to be unable to deal with many
legitimate source.list entries. For instance, it chokes on things like

deb https://download.jitsi.org unstable/ #jitsi
deb
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/isv:/ownCloud:/desktop/Ubuntu_18.10/
/ #Owncloud

- Secondly, when it gets confused with such repos, synaptic shows a
contradictory behavior. First it shows a dialog saying that the
problematic records are being ignored, then it shows a new dialog that
should illustrate the problematic records (but for some reason rather
than showing all of them, only the first one is given, twice). And
finally, rather than merely ignoring the problematic records as it said,
it completely gets out of the repository configuration functionality.

On a side note, I think that in case software-properties-qt is
installed, synaptic should try to resort to it before falling back to
the internal parser.

[Bug 1826409] Re: [19.04] Input method (keyboard) not respected

2019-05-09 Thread Timo Jyrinki
I just installed Ubuntu 19.04 with UEFI boot, selecting Finnish as both
the language and the keyboard layout. The layout happens to be correct
for me after installation, ä and ö are working and only Finnish is
listed in Input Methods / layouts.

(My only problem is that the installer does no longer offer Finnish
keyboard by default if choosing Finnish language, a regression that I'm
trying to find a bug for)

[Bug 1706859] Re: Auto-selected keyboard layout no longer matches chosen region on "Where are you" page

2019-05-09 Thread Timo Jyrinki
This regression still happens on 19.04 (and 18.04 LTS). I selected
Finnish as the language, but it still offered English keyboard by
default on the following page, which is unfortunate.

It causes problems to users because people are not often familiar with
the concept of keyboard layouts so may not be aware they need to select
something.

The default being wrong in majority of the cases when non-English
language is selected leads to certain amount of people having wrong
input method after installation. Needing to scroll and select the
correct layout also causes extra work where otherwise the installer is
mostly about clicking "Next".

[Bug 1822839] Re: LibreOffice doesn't detect JVM because of unexpected java.vendor property value

2019-05-09 Thread Marcus Tomlinson
** Description changed:

  [Impact]

   * A recent OpenJDK update changes the value of the "java.vendor"
  property from "Oracle Corporation" to "Private Build". This breaks the
  code in LibreOffice that detects an installed JVM.

   * The fix is currently in LibreOffice 6.2.3 on eoan.

  [Test Case]

   1. Launch the LibreOffice Start Center
   2. Open Tools > Options
   3. Navigate to LibreOffice > Advanced
-  4. A JRE from Vendor "Ubuntu" should be listed with Location:
/usr/lib/jvm/...
+  4. A JRE should be listed with Location: /usr/lib/jvm/...

  [Regression Potential]

   * This fix is small and concentrated so potential for regression should
  be relatively low.

   * A combination of autopkgtests and manual testing as described above
  should provide reasonable confidence that no regressions sneaked in.

[Bug 1828350] [NEW] Add support for Intel I210 NIC

2019-05-09 Thread Juerg Haefliger
Private bug reported:

== SRU Justification ==

The Precise 3.2 kernel doesn't support the Intel I210 NIC. It's a fairly
old and common NIC which is also in my test system. It would help with
testing Precise if that NIC was supported.

== Fix ==

Backport the following 3 commits wich add I210 support:
  - igb: Fix incorrect RAR address entries for i210/i211 device.
  - igb: Add Support for new i210/i211 devices.
  - igb: Add function and pointers for 82580 low power state settings.

== Regression Potential ==

Low. This is mostly new code that is only exercised when an I210 NIC is
present. There is some shuffling around and the introduction of low
power settings handling for other NIC types as well so there is some
risk. But it's isolated to the igb NIC driver.

== Test Case ==

Boot a patched kernel and verify the NIC is recognized and the network
comes up.

(bionic/disco) And thus this bug should be rejected as "not a bug" from Linux
point
of view as no linux fix is dropped here ? Please advise.

[Bug 1828345] [NEW] [possible regression] kernel BUG at [...]/linux-lts-xenial-4.4.0/net/core/skbuff.c:1207

2019-05-09 Thread Tore Anderson
Public bug reported:

Following a kernel upgrade from linux-image-4.4.0-116-generic to linux-
image-4.4.0-144-generic, our IPTables-based firewall have become
unstable and have crashed twice with identical-looking backtraces after
a short uptime.

When running linux-image-4.4.0-116-generic the firewall had been up and
running stable with an uptime of well over a year. Therefore, I highly
suspect that this is a bug that has been introduced between the two
versions mentioned.

These are the backtraces printed to the serial console when it crashed.

Crash #1 (after approx. 3 days of uptime):

[Bug 1828134] Re: Wifi not working after suspend/resume cycle

2019-05-09 Thread Andrea Righi
Interesting that the d3cold_allowed change made some differences (I'm
assuming it was failing 100% of the times before that change).

Few more questions. After a bad resume:

1) are there unkillable processes (D state) in the system (`ps axuw |
grep D`)?

2) does `sudo iwlist wlp4s0 scan` return any error or does it hang
indefinitely?

3) do you have bluetooth enabled (what's the output of `sudo rfkill
list`)?

As a temporary workaround you can automate the modprobe trick (#3) doing
something like the following:

$ cat /lib/systemd/system-sleep/iwlmvm.sh
#!/bin/sh
case $1 in
pre)
modprobe -r iwlmvm
;;
post)
modprobe iwlmvm
;;
esac

But it'd be nice to find a proper solution to this. Thanks!

[Bug 1828288] Re: QEMU might fail to start on AMD CPUs when 'host-passthrough' is used

2019-05-09 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
Thanks Rafael for identifying the issue and already providing a patch.
A few other things need to clear the SRU pipe first, then we can take the
change it LGTM.

Would you - in the meantime - find the time to add a full SRU template
[1] for this to the description already?

[Bug 1828258] Re: ldirectord fails on arm (in autopkgtest environment)

2019-05-09 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
Works in LXD and VM as well.

TL;DR it works everywhere (all arches) and also everywhere (all
environments) except autopkgtest-env @ armhf.

I don't know how to debug this further, also it might be a waste of time going
even further.
I'll provide a force-badtest for this combination in Disco instead.
