[Bug 1828228] Re: corosync fails to start in container (armhf) bump some limits
Somehow the lxd containers being used for autopkgtest are, likely, different. x64 seems to be running privileged containers for need_root tests, while armhf is not (orelse x64 selfpkgtests wouldn't pass either, like demonstrated in previous comment). I'll suggest a hints-ubuntu test marking this as bad-test, but it seems that the environment is bad, and not the test. ** No longer affects: pacemaker (Ubuntu) ** Also affects: corosync-qdevice (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: corosync-qdevice (Ubuntu) Status: New => In Progress ** Changed in: corosync-qdevice (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: corosync-qdevice (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Rafael David Tinoco (rafaeldtinoco) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1828228 Title: corosync fails to start in container (armhf) bump some limits To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/auto-package-testing/+bug/1828228/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

WORKING SOLUTION After encountering this problem, I developed a very simple solution: nano /usr/sbin/grub-probe-overlay -[BEGIN]-- #!/bin/sh ARGS= for ARG in $@; do if [ "${ARG%%[!/]*}" = "/" ]; then OPTIONS= if FSTYPE=$( findmnt -n -o FSTYPE "$ARG" ); then if [ "$FSTYPE" = "overlay" ]; then OPTIONS=$(findmnt -n -o OPTIONS "$ARG") fi elif FSTYPE=$( findmnt -n -o FSTYPE / ); then if [ "$FSTYPE" = "overlay" ]; then OPTIONS=$(findmnt -n -o OPTIONS /) fi fi if LOWERDIR=$(echo "$OPTIONS" | grep -m 1 -oP 'lowerdir=\K[^,]+'); then # echo "[DEBUG] Overlay filesystem detected \${ARG} --> \${LOWERDIR}\${ARG%*/}" 1>&2 ARG="${LOWERDIR}${ARG%*/}" fi fi ARGS="$ARGS $ARG" done grub-probe-default $ARGS exit $? -[END] mv /usr/sbin/grub-probe /usr/sbin/grub-probe-default ln -s /usr/sbin/grub-probe-overlay /usr/sbin/grub-probe OPTIONAL STEP: == apt-mark hold grub-pc NOTE: package name can also be "grub-efi-amd64" or "grub-efi-ia32" or something else, depending on what you use PROS - works perfectly with overlay filesystem - shows a general solution (maybe someone can use it to fix the grub-probe source code) - no patching of grub scripts required (some people tried patches as solution, but grub-probe is used in many grub scripts --> patching nightmare) CONS - grub-probe must be renamed (for this reason, I recommend that you set the status of your grub package to "hold") -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1247905 Title: update-grub fails in the face of overlayroot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1247905/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

@vanvugt can this fix be backported to gnome-3-32 branch? [Bug 1837300] Re: /usr/bin/locale-check is missing from bionic LTS versions
Downgrading is not supported. Downgrading with the result that files / bugfixes present in the -updates pocket are not installed because you only installed from the release pocket is not a bug in Ubuntu. Any changes we make to a stable release after GA land only in the -updates pocket, never in the release pocket. So there is nothing we would change here to make this problem go away. The reason you saw the error is that /etc/profile.d/01-locale-fix.sh and /usr/bin/locale-check were both introduced to bionic after release, so are only in bionic-updates. However, /usr/bin/locale-check is a regular packaged file, and /etc/profile.d/01-locale-fix.sh is a conffile; which means that on downgrade, /usr/bin/locale-check is removed because it's not part of the older package, but /etc/profile.d/01-locale-fix.sh is not removed because conffiles are only removed with additional handling via the maintainer scripts, and there is no handling that would remove this conffile as part of a downgrade. Almost no conffiles are correctly removed on downgrade to a version of the package earlier than the version which introduced the conffile. This is why downgrades are not supported. ** Changed in: base-files (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1837300 Title: /usr/bin/locale-check is missing from bionic LTS versions To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/base-files/+bug/1837300/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1837300] [NEW] /usr/bin/locale-check is missing from bionic LTS versions
Public bug reported: After downgrading from 19.04 to 18.04 (which involved a bunch of `apt remove --purge` and manual dependency conflict resolution) I had the following error on logging into my machine: ``` bash: /usr/bin/locale-check: No such file or directory ``` On investigation, it seems that this file is supposed to be provided by `base-files`, but it is not present in the two current LTS versions (10.1ubuntu2 and 10.2ubuntu2.2). ``` tl@hotbox:~$ apt download base-files=10.1ubuntu2 Get:1 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic/main amd64 base-files amd64 10.1ubuntu2 [58.2 kB] Fetched 58.2 kB in 0s (1,000 kB/s) tl@hotbox:~$ apt download base-files=10.1ubuntu2.2 Get:1 http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic-security/main amd64 base-files amd64 10.1ubuntu2.2 [58.2 kB] Fetched 58.2 kB in 0s (189 kB/s) tl@hotbox:~$ dpkg -c base-files_10.1ubuntu2_amd64.deb | rg "/usr/bin" drwxr-xr-x root/root 0 2018-04-24 04:34 ./usr/bin/ tl@hotbox:~$ dpkg -c base-files_10.1ubuntu2.2_amd64.deb | rg "/usr/bin" drwxr-xr-x root/root 0 2018-08-20 09:44 ./usr/bin/ ``` It is present in `bionic-updates` which is currently `10.1ubuntu2.5`, however. The reason I think this happened to this system in particular is that as part of the dist-downgrade process I added the following to `/etc/apt/preferences`: ``` Package: * Pin: release a=bionic Pin-Priority: 1001 ``` This appears to have prevented me from getting `bionic-updates`. The old DT created by kexec (before the core is added) is being used by KDump Kernel. So, when system crashes on a thread from the added core(s), KDump kernel is failing to get the 'boot_cpuid' and eventually failing to boot.. == Comment: #2 - Hari Krishna Bathini - 2019-05-10 06:02:27 == The udev rule when CPU is added is not triggered because ppc64 does not eject add/remove event when a CPU is hot added/removed. It only ejects online/offline event to user space when CPU is hot added/removed. So, the below udev rules are never triggered when needed: SUBSYSTEM=="cpu", ACTION=="add", PROGRAM="/bin/systemctl try-restart kdump-tools.service" SUBSYSTEM=="cpu", ACTION=="remove", PROGRAM="/bin/systemctl try-restart kdump-tools.service" Also, with how CPU hot add & remove are handled in ppc64, a udev trigger to reload kdump after CPU is hot removed is NOT necessary. So, fix the CPU hot add case by updating the udev rule and drop the udev rule meant for CPU hot remove in the kdump udev rules file: SUBSYSTEM=="cpu", ACTION=="online", PROGRAM="/bin/systemctl try-restart kdump-tools.service" -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1828596 Title: kdump fails when crash is triggered after DLPAR cpu add operation To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-power-systems/+bug/1828596/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures. At a minimum, we need: 1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem. 2. The behavior you expected. 3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). [Bug 1837282] Re: gaupol Suggests mpv but should Depend on it
Hi, I added an upstream bug report on this too. This is not to say Ubuntu can't make changes to dependencies, but I think this is mostly upstream's fault (and that's me). https://github.com/otsaloma/gaupol/issues/136 As background, the first confusion is that there's both an internal GStreamer video player as well ability to launch an external player. This confusion will remain as I think both are needed. As external video players, all of mpv, MPlayer and VLC are supported. mpv is the default due to it supporting precise seeking. Before the addition of mpv, the choice was MPlayer and VLC and they were and remain equally good/bad, seeking only to keyframes. https://mpv.io/manual/master/#options-hr-seek ** Bug watch added: github.com/otsaloma/gaupol/issues #136 https://github.com/otsaloma/gaupol/issues/136 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1837282 Title: gaupol Suggests mpv but should Depend on it To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gaupol/+bug/1837282/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1830961] Re: Kernels & kernel drivers fail to build with gcc-9 [error: ‘-mindirect-branch’ and ‘-fcf-protection’ are not compatible]
Several posters are asking for the mainline builds to be fixed. The mainline builds are an exact reflection of the upstream git master repositories. Therefore they have to wait for Seth's patch submission, which has been picked up and accepted by the kbuild team, to propagate it's way to the mainline upstream git branch. Earlier today, a kernel 5.3-rc1 merge request was issued by the kbuild team [1]. Once that branch has been "pulled" into the upstream mainline, the Ubuntu mainline daily compiles should start working the next day. In about 8 days there will be kernel 5.3-rc1, which should have the patch. Upstream bug closed "RESOLVED FIXED" on 2014-01-23. Tested "Shuffle" mode using version 3.32.0 on Ubuntu 19.10. [Bug 1837284] [NEW] Initial installation does not allow high graphics resolution. Requires disabling Wayland and using Nvidia proprietary driver.
Public bug reported: 1. Booting the system from USB 3.0 stick does not show any indication of graphics problems. 2. Upon the installation to a hard drive, the graphics resolution is below standard and cannot be changed in the system settings. 3. By installing the Nvidia driver and rebooting the system, I find that there is no graphics desktop available; apparently, level 5 was not fully reached. There is a workaround for this. I can try to press CTRL+F2 and then CTRL+F1 and the high-resolution graphical desktop becomes apparent. Switching terminals allows me to go to the graphical session. 4. Disabling Wayland in the appropriate configuration file allows the system to become fully functional. The shadow of the window is shaped by a rectangle (and so the corners are still visible over a light background) and, in addition, there is a 'see-through' line in the application window, below the address bar (you can see the text behind the window). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1828728 Title: White corners when CSD is enabled on Firefox To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/firefox/+bug/1828728/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
