[Bug 1830807] Re: Update to bug-fix release Qt 5.9.8 to fix security issues in qtwebengine in Bionic

2019-07-22 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
I have accepted the upload to bionic-proposed. I saw a lot of optional
symbols being dropped/modified - as they were optional I suppose it
should be fine, but let's keep an eye out for issues in case we missed
something non-optional changing and breaking the ABI.

Also, since I have accepted it to bionic-proposed, in case we want it to
land in bionic-security it would have to be rebuilt in a security-
enabled PPA. If not, we'll simply release it to bionic-updates only. But
it might be a good idea to get in touch with the security team here.

[Bug 1830807] Re: Update to bug-fix release Qt 5.9.8 to fix security issues in qtwebengine in Bionic

2019-07-22 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
Hello Amr, or anyone else affected,

Accepted qtwebengine-opensource-src into bionic-proposed. The package
will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
/qtwebengine-opensource-src/5.9.8+dfsg-0ubuntu1 in a few hours, and then
in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-bionic to verification-done-bionic. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-bionic. In either case, without details of
your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

[Bug 1837399] [NEW] file selection does not work properly in 'search-results' mode

2019-07-22 Thread Friedrich Feichtinger
Public bug reported:

When nautilus is in 'search-results' mode, the first found file is
displayed as selected (the file symbol and text have an orange
background color) but apparently in fact it is not. (Copying the file
does not work, or a file that was selected previously is copied
instead.)

How to reproduce:
* open two tabs at different paths
* use CTRL+F to enter 'find' mode
* type some letters until a file is found
* use CTRL+C to copy the first found file
* switch to the second tab
* use CTRL+V to paste the file

What I expected to happen:
* the file should be copied to the second tab

What happened instead:
* the file was not copied or a different file is copied instead

Also when using CTRL+left click to select addition files, these are also
displayed as selected, but nothing is copied.

When using SHIFT instead, the behaviour is a little bit different, as
you have to click two times for the files to be selected, but then all
files are copied correctly.

Workaround:
* unselect the first found file after searching by clicking into the white
* select the file(s) again
* copy works as expected

Nautilus version: 3.26.4
Ubuntu version: 18.04.2 LTS

[Bug 1820832] Re: [xorg] multiple monitors: limits the framerate of faster 120/144hz monitors to 60hz

2019-07-22 Thread Muhammed Ali Geldi
I can also confirm that this bug is still present. I'm on Ubuntu 19.04
with the latest drivers & updates installed.

Also, I want to add something here: It's not that it specifically
limits the framerate to 60 Hz. Rather, it limits it to the monitor with
the lowest refresh rate. Try setting one monitor's refresh rate to 30
Hz, and you should instantly notice how laggy the whole desktop
environment becomes.

I understand that this issue might be looked at as "not that important",
but I believe a lot of people that would love to switch from Windows to
something like Ubuntu really wouldn't appreciate the fact that their 144
Hz monitor doesn't work as intended. If you own one yourself, you
probably would never want to set it to 60 Hz out of free will.

[Bug 1826791] Re: stress-ng cpu tests run longer than configured timeout

2019-07-22 Thread Colin Ian King
Apologies for taking so long to get back to you, this issue slipped past
my radar. Some triaging questions:

1. How many CPUs are there on these machines?
2. Which version of stress-ng is being used?

Thanks.

I suspect that aggressive mode is running the stressors in such a way
that the scheduling is not getting around to some of these stress
processes and hence they are not getting a SIGALRM in a timely manner.

[Bug 1837235] Re: systemd 229-4ubuntu21.22 ADT test failure with linux 4.4.0-156.183 (storage)

2019-07-22 Thread Kleber Sacilotto de Souza
systemd relies on some udev properties to craft the message that will be
displayed by the cryptsetup service when a password is required.

For this testcase, the scsi_debug module is loaded and the device
created by it is used for the tests.

With xenial kernel 4.4.0-154-generic, udevadm returns for the scsi_debug
block device:

$ udevadm info /dev/sdb
P: /devices/pseudo_0/adapter0/host2/target2:0:0/2:0:0:0/block/sdb

However, with kernel 4.4.0-156-generic the output is:

$ udevadm info /dev/sdb

systemd expects one of the following properties to be set:
  "ID_PART_ENTRY_NAME\0"
  "DM_NAME\0"
  "ID_MODEL_FROM_DATABASE\0"
  "ID_MODEL\0";

[Bug 1837397] [NEW] Make possible to load Mellanox OFED modules

2019-07-22 Thread Marcelo Cerri
Public bug reported:

[Impact]

Infiniband and Mellanox modules are currently built-in which makes
impossible for users to build and load OFED drivers.

[Test Case]

Users should be able to build and load OFED drivers without conflicting
with the built-in drivers.

[Regression Potential]

The major regression potential is related to the linux-modules or linux-
modules-extra packages. The built-in modules should be build as loadable
modules and placed at the linux-modules package, having then in the
linux-modules-extra package will cause issues for current users.

[Bug 1837040] Re: function traceon/off triggers in ftace from ubuntu_kernel_selftests failed on Disco ARM64 / B-hwe P9

2019-07-22 Thread Po-Hsu Lin
Issue found on B-hwe 5.0 P9 as well.

The first attempt on B-hwe 5.0 P9 does not report failure on the traceon/off
trigger.
It's the second attempt complaining it.

Will test again to see what's going on here.

[Bug 1837394] [NEW] Only N-1 icons appear in dock when reversing "Workspaces" defaults

2019-07-22 Thread Bob Lawrence
Public bug reported:

When the defaults are left in the "Workspaces" preferences, everything
functions as expected. But when the options are reversed from the
defaults, the result is that the icon for the most recently opened app
on a workspace is missing from the dock.

Steps to reproduce:
Select "Dock Preferences" -> "Workspaces"
For "Pinned application dock icons" select "Display on all workspaces"
For "Unpinned application dock icons" select "Display unpinned apps only from
current workspace"
Apply the settings

Now open any app (like calculator). The app opens on the current
workspace, but its icon does not show in the dock. Now open another app
(like font viewer). It too opens on the current workspace but without
its icon appearing in the dock. However, the icon for the first app
(calculator) now shows in the dock. Repeating for a third app has the
same results (its icon is missing from the dock), but now both the first
and second apps appear in the dock (calculator and font viewer).

This behavior continues with each new app opened. The most recently
opened app on the workspace is not displayed in the dock. Only n-1 app
icons on the current workspace are displayed. Switching to another
workspace and back will momentarily bring all app icons into the dock
for that workspace, but then the unexpected behavior continues when
further apps are opened. Setting the "Workspaces" preferences back to
default restores expected (but not desired) behavior.

This behavior was observed on an Ubuntu Mate 18.04.2 LTS system with
Mate Dock Applet 0.87 (GTK3)

** Affects: mate-dock-applet (Ubuntu)

[Bug 1087206] Re: Evince often hangs on close

2019-07-22 Thread Paul White
We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to review all
reported bugs in a timely manner. This bug was reported some time ago
and there have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time.

Ubuntu 12.04 (precise) reached end-of-life on April 28, 2017.
Ubuntu 14.04 (trusty) reached end-of-life on April 25,2019.
Ubuntu 14.10 (utopic) reached end-of-life on July 23, 2015.

Does anyone still see a problem related to the one that was reported
when using a currently supported version of Ubuntu? Please let us know
if you do otherwise this report can be left to expire in approximately
60 days time.

Thank you for helping make Ubuntu better.

[Bug 1832265] Please test proposed package

2019-07-22 Thread Corey Bryant
Hello Drew, or anyone else affected,

Accepted keystone into stein-proposed. The package will build now and be

  sudo apt-get update

Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-stein-needed to verification-stein-done. If it does
not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change
the tag to verification-stein-failed. In either case, details of your
testing will help us make a better decision.

[Bug 1837392] [NEW] "unable to find firefox.desktop" when clicking "Show Details" on the Firefox menu (top)

2019-07-22 Thread EoflaOE
Public bug reported:

When a user tries to open the menu that is on the top, next to
Activities button, and clicks "Show Details", it opens GNOME Software,
but stays on the loading bar for a while then it says "Unable to find
firefox.desktop".

However, if I opened GNOME Software to search for Firefox, there are two
entries for Firefox, one from Ubuntu repo, one from Snap. I know that
Firefox existed on GNOME Software, but it seems weird that it won't be
able to search for "firefox.desktop."

[Bug 1672459] Re: incorrectly asks for password on .pdf file

2019-07-22 Thread Paul White
Thanks for the reply.

Obviously evince 3.4.0 is never going to be updated now and any fixes
would be applied to later releases of evince.

I cannot reproduce the problem using either evince 3.28 in Xubuntu
18.04, or evince 3.32 in Ubuntu 19.10 (dev). I've also viewed the same
file downloaded from other sources. There have been several reports of
this problem in the past but they seem to have been fixed before this
bug report was raised.

The problem that you are experiencing may not be an evince bug but a bug
in one of the dependencies.

I'm closing this report for now by marking it "Fix Released" as the
issue seems to have been fixed in later releases of evince. If when you
upgrade to a supported Ubuntu release and you find that you still
experience the bug as the originator of the report you can re-open it by
changing the status back to "New".

Preferably you should use the command 'ubuntu-bug evince' in a terminal
so that the appropriate logs are attached to a new report.
