Confirming I just had this exact same issue in Disco Dingo (19.04)

[Bug 1838860] Re: convert translates upside down some picture when converting from jpg to tga

2019-08-03 Thread Thomas DEBESSE
Bad news, sometime the converted png from jpg displays properly but is
then set upside-down when converting from png to tga.

I updated the screenshot of the bug:
https://dl.illwieckz.net/b/imagemagick/bugs/convert-jpg-to-tga-upside-down/convert-jpg-to-tga-upside-down.png

And the script to reproduce:
https://dl.illwieckz.net/b/imagemagick/bugs/convert-jpg-to-tga-upside-down/convert-jpg-to-tga-upside-down.sh

Which now looks like this:

for i in *.jpg
do
n="$(basename "${i}" '.jpg')"
convert "${i}" "${n}.png"
convert "${i}" "${n}.tga"
convert "${n}.png" "${n}.png.tga"
done

When I said converting from jpg to png to tga worked, in fact I had only
tested with one file. It's not always true. With the provided
"noships.jpg" file, the bug is carried over the png.

[Bug 1838133] Re: realtek r8822be kernel module fails after update to linux kernel-headers 5.0.0-21

2019-08-03 Thread Jun Go
Hello Kai-Heng,

I edited the .config file in wireless-drivers-next and manually added
the RTW88 drivers you mentioned above and then rebuilt the 5.3.0-rc1+
kernel.

After rebooting into the new kernel, I noticed that rtw88 and rtwpci
kernel modules are now loaded but wifi is still not working... I have
attached the output of lsmod, dmesg, and journalctl -b0 in a tarball.

Thanks for your help,
Jun

[Bug 1838860] [NEW] convert translates upside down some picture when converting from jpg to tga

2019-08-03 Thread Thomas DEBESSE
Public bug reported:

When I convert some jpg image to tga format, the tga image is upside
down.

The bug only appears with some jpg images, not all. I can convert
thousands of jpg images without problems but in some rare images the bug
occurs.

You can find three jpg images that are known to fail there:
https://dl.illwieckz.net/b/imagemagick/bugs/convert-jpg-to-tga-upside-down/convert-jpg-to-tga-upside-down-samples.zip
I also attach to this bug report the smallest sample I have.

If I convert from jpg to png, the png is ok
If I convert from jpg to png then from png to tga, the tga is ok
If I convert from jpg to tga, the tga is upside down

You can reproduce by downloading the samples, then run this code in the
directory containing the samples:

for i in *.jpg
do
n="$(basename "${i}" '.jpg')"
convert "${i}" "${n}.png"
convert "${i}" "${n}.tga"
done

You can have a look of the result there:
https://dl.illwieckz.net/b/imagemagick/bugs/convert-jpg-to-tga-upside-down/convert-jpg-to-tga-upside-down.png

You can also download this script there:

sorry for not knowing the correct English Words in the menues). Finally I can
say, that the Touchpad works perfect in Ubuntu 18.04 LTS by running
$ sudo apt install linux-generic-hwe-18.04-edge

Thanks a lot to Kai-Heng Feng! :-)

[Bug 1838245] Re: dkms script is missing function find_module

2019-08-03 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package dkms - 2.3-3ubuntu9.5

---
dkms (2.3-3ubuntu9.5) bionic; urgency=medium

  * Fixup previous upload: find_module doesn't exist yet, and there's bad
boolean logic in the check if we've already dealt with obsoleted modules.

[Bug 1808702] Re: Bubblewrap integration broke user thumbnailers

2019-08-03 Thread Thomas DEBESSE
Hi, I'm getting the exact same problem with my thumbnailer:
https://github.com/illwieckz/crunch-thumbnailer

After investigations using "G_MESSAGES_DEBUG=all" I discovered the
thumbnailer is called by nautilus this way:

bwrap --ro-bind /usr /usr --ro-bind /etc/ld.so.cache /etc/ld.so.cache
--ro-bind /bin /bin --ro-bind /lib64 /lib64 --ro-bind /lib /lib --ro-
bind /sbin /sbin --ro-bind-try /var/cache/fontconfig
/var/cache/fontconfig --proc /proc --dev /dev --chdir / --setenv
GIO_USE_VFS local --unshare-all --die-with-parent --setenv
G_MESSAGES_DEBUG all --bind /tmp/gnome-desktop-thumbnailer-M7A75Z /tmp
--ro-bind
/home/illwieckz/Mapping/Unvanquished/InterstellarOasis/build/test/map-
metro_test.dpkdir/textures/metro/alumb_t.crn /tmp/gnome-desktop-file-to-
thumbnail.crn crunch-thumbnailer -s 256 /tmp/gnome-desktop-file-to-
thumbnail.crn /tmp/gnome-desktop-thumbnailer.png

My thumbnailer is calling the "convert" tool from ImageMagick, but
convert is an "alternative":

$ readlink /usr/bin/convert
/etc/alternatives/convert
$ readlink /etc/alternatives/convert
/usr/bin/convert-im6.q16

Since "/etc/alternatives" is not bound by bwrap, the thumnailer fails.
Any ETA for the fix?

[Bug 1571199] Re: vlc broken with latest libupnp

2019-08-03 Thread Rudy Vissers
On a 16.04 LTS I managed to render Synology videos on the Google Chromecast.
You must use a VLC 3 to render the videos to Chromecast but unfortunately you
cannot browse the network (upnp).
sudo dpkg -i libupnp6_1.6.19+git20160116-1_amd64.deb
This will enable VLC 2 to browse the network.
As soon as you located the video you want to play then RC the video and a click
on 'information' and a popup is displayed. Then below the URL of the video is
displayed like http://192.168.0.25:50002/v/NDLNA/1.avi.
You can open this URL from VLC 3 and render to Chromecast.

[Bug 1827442] Re: [MIR] libheif

It's correct that packages do not have to be in main merely for being
build dependencies. But most libraries that are build dependencies are
linked against during build and become runtime dependencies.

[Bug 1817424] Re: Unable to resolve local DNS names provided by router on bootup.

2019-08-03 Thread b
Looking at this issue again I noticed some others having issues with
/etc/resolv.conf so I check and indeed the symlink was incorrect:

/etc/resolv.conf -> ../run/systemd/resolve/stub-resolv.conf

This was a fresh installation of bionic, so I'm not sure what package
installed this incorrect symlink. The solution was to change the
symlink:

/etc/resolv.conf -> ../run/systemd/resolve/resolv.conf

And now I don't need to flush caches for local names to be resolved.

2019-08-03 Thread Jun Go
Hi Kai-Heng,

I checked my /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf file, however, rtwpci and
rtw88 are not blacklisted. I am not sure why both these kernel modules
are not loaded when booting with kernel 5.3.0-rc1+...

Should I try building 5.3.0-rc1+ with different options?

[Bug 1217959] Re: 'metadata' file not found when creating backup ("Could not restore ‘/home/user /.cache/deja-dup/metadata’: File not found in backup"

2019-08-03 Thread Kenneth Loafman
Please upgrade to the current version of duplicity. This will assure
that any bugs fixed since your release are available and may fix your
issue.

NOTE: This applies especially to duplicity versions between 0.7.03 and
0.7.14 inclusive. There was a fix in 0.7.15 that reduced memory usage
drastically, and will help with memory errors and inability to start new
threads.

There are three options:

* Release tarball Install - https://launchpad.net/duplicity/+download
* Daily duplicity builds -
https://launchpad.net/~duplicity-team/+archive/ubuntu/daily
* Stable duplicity builds -
https://launchpad.net/~duplicity-team/+archive/ubuntu/ppa

NOTE: UNinstall duplicity first if it was installed via the distribution
repository. For Ubuntu, that would be "sudo apt-get purge duplicity".

[Bug 243298] Re: sshfs /etc/mtab and /etc/fstab do not match, umount and unmount through "Disk Mounter" applet / Nautilus do not work

2019-08-03 Thread Steve Dodd
The problem seems to be the filesystem-specific options; I've just
noticed that ntfs-3g also seems to behave this way. Is it a general
problem with fuse filesystems? It's certainly counter-intuitive (I was
thinking my mount options had been silently ignored when I checked
mount(8) options.)

[Bug 909859] Re: Pressing CTRL-C durring a "checkinstall --fstrans=0" results in bash: /bin/bash: No such file or directory

2019-08-03 Thread Marcel Partap
Ok for anyone landing in this situation (f.e. by trying to `checkinstall
--fstrans=no ./vmware-product.bundle` ).. a probable cause is that
checkinstall has removed the /lib -> /usr/lib symlink and replaced it by
a directory. Lucky you if you have a tmux session with a root ranger
instance running to recover from that  .. else, you'll probably have to
boot into a recovery system  ..

[Bug 1838844] Re: dm-verity: Invalid number of feature args

2019-08-03 Thread TJ
** Description changed:

  On an 18.04 amd64 system dm-verity reports:

device-mapper: table: 253:20: verity: Invalid number of feature args
device-mapper: ioctl: error adding target to table

when trying to use "veritysetup" to create a previously formatted verity
device that uses FEC. Without FEC it succeeds.
+
+ After writing this report I thought to check the kernel compilation
+ options and discovered the cause:
+
+ $ sudo grep VERITY /boot/config-$(uname -r)
+ CONFIG_DM_VERITY=m
+ # CONFIG_DM_VERITY_FEC is not set
+
+ It would be very useful to enable this unless there's a specific reason
+ not to.
+
+ I'm working (with the Lubuntu team) on introducing verity/FEC for the
+ live-build tooling so that all Ubuntu ISO images can have integral
+ verification with FEC available.

Just a question, I thought build-dependencies need not be in main any
more to build packages in main. It was announced some time ago on
ubuntu-devel. Am I wrong?

2019-08-03 Thread Savvas Shiakas
Hey guys, I don't think this is a solution but it didn't produce the error so
here it goes:
1. created a folder and named it "backups" in the home directory
2. changed the Storage location of the backup to the "backups" directory
3. created the backup and no error :)
Previously my storage location was the home directory.

Hi!

Thank you for the bug report. I can't reproduce this crash. Could you
please run Telegram Desktop in debug mode and attach its logs.

To enable debug mode, go to settings and type `debugmode` or just run
`telegram-desktop -debug` from the console. The logs will be placed in
the ~/.local/share/TelegramDesktop/DebugLogs directory.

[Bug 1838133] Re: realtek r8822be kernel module fails after update to linux kernel-headers 5.0.0-21

2019-08-03 Thread Jun Go
Hi Kai-Heng~

Thanks for the help. Now the 5.3.0-rc1+ kernel with wireless-drivers-
next builds properly. I rebooted into the new kernel (selected from GRUB
menu) and I can verify that wireless does not work.

I have attached a tarball containing the output of dmesg, journalctl
-b0, and lsmod on mainline kernel 5.3.0-rc1+ with "wireless-drivers-
next".

Let me know if there's any other information I can get for you.

Best,

2019-08-03 Thread Jun Go
Hi Kai-Heng~

I tried the steps mentioned in #24 to build a kernel with the latest
wireless-drivers-next modules. However, I'm getting the following error
at the last step:

$ INSTALL_MOD_STRIP=1 modules_install && sudo make install
modules_install: command not found

Is there anything else I need to "make" before running this command?

Thanks,
Jun

[Bug 1791427] Re: Touchpad and/or trackpoint stop working after S3 suspend on Lenovo X1 Carbon 6th

2019-08-03 Thread Andrea Orru
I don't have the NFC chip.

With kernel 5.2.x, it happens always after hibernation, sometimes after
suspension, rarely after reboot. I'm occasionally able to restore it by
unloading/reloading the i2c_hid kernel module.

With kernel 4.19.61, the issue occurs sporadically, and I can always
solve it by unloading/reloading the module.

[Bug 1837770] Re: july 2019 cpu probably applies

2019-08-03 Thread Otto Kekäläinen
The 10.1 series update for 18.04 is now available.

Please use git-buildpackage to fetch and build from the ubuntu-18.04
branch at https://salsa.debian.org/mariadb-
team/mariadb-10.1/tree/ubuntu-18.04

The repository uses pristine-tar, so there is no need to separately
download the sources. You can just check the signature/SHA1SUM directly
from the git-buildpackage generated tarball.

Test builds and testsuite passed on all platforms at
https://launchpad.net/~mysql-ubuntu/+archive/ubuntu/mariadb-10.1/+builds?build_text=_state=all

Debdiffs can be created directly from the repo like in a local clone
with 'git diff .. debian/'
