[Bug 1767299] Re: Ubuntu 18.04 Installer creates swap partition too small
This is a major problem. I am now forced to do a full reinstall with proper swap allocation. This will set me back at least 1 full business day until I synced all my files again. There are not many common users out there who will go to that extend just to move over to Ubuntu. If there is any solution to easily resize the swap partition on LUKS/ LVM instructions would be greatly appreciated. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1767299 Title: Ubuntu 18.04 Installer creates swap partition too small To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/partman-auto/+bug/1767299/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1844455] Re: Memory leak on libvirt 1.3.1
Hi, thanks for the report and your work on it. Are you sure those issues are not happening on newer versions? Because a) if they are fixed in newer versions then I'd ask you to backport the respective fixes from there (can be partial if they were bigger reworks, but always better than starting from scratch). b) if they are not fixed in newer versions we should address and fix those as well (For SRU policy and long term viability) So after your further analysis of the case give the new versions a check in that regard please. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1844455 Title: Memory leak on libvirt 1.3.1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/cloud-archive/+bug/1844455/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1844357] Re: arm has no default machine type
I agree to the low regression potential of this as anyone using a cmdline that would be affected today gets an immediate failure by a missing type. So I'm fine to consider adding this along some other SRU. But I'd only do so if upstream qemu-arm can agree on it, thanks for sending it there already. ** Description changed: [impact] The qemu-system-* binaries for most archs have a default machine type, meaning no --machine needs to be specified. This is extremely useful for situations running qemu on multiple archs in a common way, for example what systemd's self-testing does. On arm archs, there is no default, so --machine must be specified. It would be better (i.e. qemu users would not need to include arch-specific qemu parameters) if there was a default machine for arm. [test case] install qemu-system-arm, and try to run qemu without any --machine specified. - Also, this command will show if there is any default machine defined: + Also, this command will show if there isn't any default machine defined + (unless fixed): $ qemu-system-aarch64 -M ? | grep default [regression potential] since no default is currently defined, all users of qemu-system-aarch64 or qemu-system-arm must currently define a machine type. This change would (should) not have any effect on them, since it only sets a default machine type for use when -M is not specified. [other info] I'm preparing a patch to send upstream and will add the link once sent. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1844357 Title: arm has no default machine type To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qemu/+bug/1844357/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1840872] Re: ISST-LTE:KVM:Ubuntu1804:BostonLC:boslcp3g5: libvirt fails to check for duplicate address in hotplug xml and causes the guest to go to shutoff state
Hi, as I was asked on IRC lets clarify things here about when to expect the Bionic portion to be released. The Bionic part of this is in proposed only for 5 days. Both bugs affected by it are verified, that means per [1] that we'd need at least 2 more days in proposed and then one of the SRU Team members picking it up for the final release. Since there is a sprint going on atm, I'd more expect early next week than late friday (which is when the 7 days are fulfilled) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1840872 Title: ISST-LTE:KVM:Ubuntu1804:BostonLC:boslcp3g5: libvirt fails to check for duplicate address in hotplug xml and causes the guest to go to shutoff state To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-power-systems/+bug/1840872/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1807056] Re: Occasional Keyboard freeze
The behaviour has changed recently. When the freeze occurs, whatever we type goes to the dash search. It is visible only when we click the 3x3 icon and visualize the dash search panel. Earlier, whatever we type was disappears altogether. ie, when the freeze occurs and I continue to type, it is nowhere to be seen. But when we take dash search panel to unfreeze it, we can see what we typed after the freeze in the search box. In this specific case I couldn't reproduce the issue as long as libmpg123-0:i386 was installed. But I assume current Wine still generally needs them!? Please comment. Unless you have some other input, I'm going to fix this in the debian.org packages, and suggest you do something similar in the winehq -i386 and -amd64 packages: Recommends: gstreamer1.0-libav, gstreamer1.0-plugins-good, gstreamer1.0-plugins-ugly, This works on Debian unstable. gstreamer1.0-plugins-bad still has non multi-arch'd dependencies. I'll try to get those fixed. I assume some other distros don't support multi-arch for the previous 3 packages, so you might have to add this conditionally. Also some distros might still use gstreamer 0.10. Various applications need different codecs, some of which are available in -good, some in -bad, some in -ugly. Finally fixing gstreamer multiarch for Debian would be hugely welcome. I don't know why the OBS packages don't depend on/recommend these gstreamer plugins, but it's probably best that they do. Possibly because they aren't multiarch-compatible. Possibly because they aren't > multiarch-compatible. I'm quite sure there is no technical reason, at least for Debian unstable, today. But in the past there were probably too many issues, and maintainers got used to it being not fixable. Further, contrary to most other dependencies, there is no way to automatically generate a list of needed gstreamer plugins. I'm less sure about this one, but I think it's similarly necessary for some codecs; in particular WMA/WMV comes to mind. > Further, contrary to most other dependencies, there is no way to > automatically generate a list of needed gstreamer plugins. For what it's worth, I think it would be possible without too much difficulty to compile by hand a list of formats that Windows supports natively; we don't strictly need to provide any others for the purposes of emulation. (On the other hand, some applications that use quartz are generic media players, and a user may want to be able to play, say, Ogg audio, which I don't think Windows supports, using a win32 media player. But then maybe it's their responsibility to install the GStreamer plugins that they need.) [Bug 1842437] Re: Xenial: libblkid: fix false-positive/misdetection of nilfs2 filesystem with udev
The problem is reproducible in the sbuild-launchpad-chroot for xenial/amd64, using the source package for util-linux currently in xenial-updates (i.e., no regression from debdiff, as expected since changes/error are unrelated) The minimal command-line for that is: $ /build/util-linux-kzgHhT/util-linux-2.27.1/script -c echo Hallo World /dev/null /build/util-linux-kzgHhT/util- linux-2.27.1/tests/output/script/buffering-race script: openpty failed: No such file or directory Terminated There was a suspicion about the kernel version difference/regression (4.4.0-159 and -161), but that's was not the root cause of the issue. [Bug 1844455] Re: Memory leak on libvirt 1.3.1
Leak #2: ==21823==385 (280 direct, 105 indirect) bytes in 1 blocks are definitely lost in loss record 88 of 106 ==21823==at 0x4C2CC70: calloc (in /usr/lib/valgrind/vgpreload_memcheck-amd64-linux.so) ==21823==by 0x50A5299: virAlloc (viralloc.c:144) ==21823==by 0x14B185: daemonConfigNew (libvirtd-config.c:242) This one is similar to the previous one, it's likely struct daemonConfig is leaked. This structure is allocated in daemonNew and freed by daemonConfigFree(), at the end of libvirtd main() function. The hypothesis here again is that we had either a process killed or we should correctly terminate Valgrind in order it collects the free calls for this object. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1844455 Title: Memory leak on libvirt 1.3.1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvirt/+bug/1844455/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1844455] Re: Memory leak on libvirt 1.3.1
Leak #3 968 bytes in 1 blocks are definitely lost in loss record 1,313 of 1,405 at 0x4C2AB80: malloc (in /usr/lib/valgrind/vgpreload_memcheck-amd64-linux.so) by 0x6D4BA21: xmlGetGlobalState (in /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libxml2.so.2.9.3) by 0x6D4B214: __xmlIndentTreeOutput (in /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libxml2.so.2.9.3) by 0x5149F7D: virDomainDefFormatInternal (domain_conf.c:21655) by 0x514D0F2: virDomainDefFormat (domain_conf.c:22517) by 0x515B93B: virDomainDefCopy (domain_conf.c:23041) by 0x515B9FF: virDomainObjSetDefTransient (domain_conf.c:2818) by 0x2B70CCD9: qemuProcessInit (qemu_process.c:4483) by 0x2B70CFEE: qemuProcessStart (qemu_process.c:5150) by 0x2B76D727: qemuDomainObjStart.constprop.47 (qemu_driver.c:7396) by 0x2B76DE65: qemuDomainCreateWithFlags (qemu_driver.c:7450) by 0x51CC7FB: virDomainCreate (libvirt-domain.c:6753) I've checked the code in libxml2, and what is leaking is the struct _xmlGlobalState, in function xmlNewGlobalState(), called from xmlGetGlobalState() - this is part of thread orchestration mechanism in libxml. Using pahole I could check the struct size, and it matches: $ pahole --hex -C _xmlGlobalState | grep size /* size: 968, cachelines: 16, members: 33 */ The struct is freed in xmlFreeGlobalState(), when thread exits. This is again a case when there's a cleanup routine that seems to be skipped; we need to understand really if the process is being killed without having chance to run these cleanups. I'm preparing a test package to validate the cleanups execution.

It should be called when thread exists (by pthread_exit() or something analog), but can be skipped if process main() function returns. So, hypothesis here are: 1) There was a process exist that led to this thread data getting leaked 2) Valgrind should be ended (with SIGTERM) in order to collect the thread destructor execution, so this is a false/temporary leak.
[Bug 1844455] [NEW] Memory leak on libvirt 1.3.1
Public bug reported: It was reported that libvirt 1.3.1 running on Trusty (through UCA/Mitaka) is getting OOM'ed after a while - in our reports took 2 years for the leak to trigger an out-of-memory situation, but this may change according to the user available memory. Valgrind was executed in a similar environment, we were able to collect information about the "definitely lost" memory of libvirt process (attached) below. The leaks are detailed in next comments. ** Affects: libvirt (Ubuntu) Importance: High Assignee: Guilherme G.
