[Bug 1850886] Re: Auto-rotate is not working properly when system is booted up while not in its regular orientation

2019-11-04 Thread Bin Li
I did more debug. I found in the GNOME desktop the dbus message is
correct.

When I boot up from bottom-up mode, the value of
net.hadess.SensorPorxy.AccelerometerOrientation is "bottom-up", after
that, I change to normal mode, I found the value is "normal". But the
screen is totally revert.

I tried to use xrandr to rotate the screen.
$ xrandr --output eDP-1 --rotate inverted

Although the screen show correctly, but I found the mouse and touch
screen is still keep inverted.

I thought this issue is not related to kernel, cause we could got
correct value from AccelerometerProxy, I doubt the gnome-shell could
handle it correctly.

Thanks!

[Bug 1832963] Re: sound doesn't work

2019-11-04 Thread Kai-Heng Feng
Would it be possible for you to do a kernel bisection?

First, find the last good -rc kernel and the first bad -rc kernel from
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/

Then,
$ sudo apt build-dep linux
$ git clone git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git
$ cd linux
$ git bisect start
$ git bisect good $(the good version you found)
$ git bisect bad $(the bad version found)
$ make localmodconfig
$ make -j`nproc` deb-pkg
Install the newly built kernel, then reboot with it.
If the issue still happens,
$ git bisect bad
Otherwise,
$ git bisect good
Repeat to "make -j`nproc` deb-pkg" until you find the commit that causes the
regression.

Build ID: 1:6.3.2-0ubuntu0.18.04.1~lo1
CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 5.0; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3;
Locale: en-AU (en_AU.UTF-8); UI-Language: en-US
Calc: threaded

On Ubuntu 18.04.2 64-bit.

Didn't have Base installed, it crashed every time I tried opening the
Bibliography Database. Installing libreoffice-base fixed it.

Anyone else can reproduce? Is this a regression and should I open a new
bug?

[Bug 1846940]

2019-11-04 Thread Armin-le-grand
@devseppala: Well - the GridOffset needs to be applied in both cases, so
this makes not really a difference...

>From the logic I think (2) is the better option - will now do that and check

>compromize fix for the (hard) calc probem of non-linear ViewTransformation(s)

In the long run a view-dependent solution using VOC/OC/VC in combination with
primitives would be much better anyways... but thats another story ;-)

Very interesting to read about your bug hunt Armin, and good to see that
you have made so much progress.

About your A/B solution options. Is there any performance issue to
consider, how often are these called in worst case scenario. I mean
checking a flag sounds potentially more slower than just systematically
adding the offset.

Just my 2 cents, great work!

[Bug 684982]

2019-11-04 Thread Hpj-u
With all due respect, but it's exactly about session restore being
unable to restore what ever the session consists from.

This includes both: restoring the windows on their original desktops and
restore the original tabs in those windows.

The latest FF incarnations (69.*, 70.*) show both variants of this
issue: not restoring the window geometry correctly (including desktop)
and not restoring the correct tabs in those windows. 68 got it right for
a short time, but then the FF gods chimed in and made it act as usual.

Reproducing this is a matter of:
 * install a decent Linux DE (I'm using openSUSE Tumbleweed with Plasma DE)
 * open a few dolphin, kate and firefox windows
 * log out and log in
 * the dolphin and kate windows restore just fine, even FF might do for a while
 * repeat the latter two steps

Over time, you will notice the behavior, we're observing since 13 years
now. I can imagine, that it's not easy to get right for all different
setups. And the changes in behavior clearly show, that some folks are
messing on this, but they never showed up here. Why would adding yet
another bug report change anything? It's pretty obvious, that nobody,
who is in charge if this mess, really cares.

 And now, with the dawn of wayland getting more and more into production
ready state, things won't get any easier, I'm afraid.

2019-11-04 Thread Hpj-u
Just to keep you informed. Firefox 70 session manager remembers the
window position for multiple desktops correctly (note: no multi monitor
setup), but it mixes the content (tabs from one window appear in
another), hence I'm back to be afraid of reboots. Here's my current
procedure.

Prepare for reboot: save current session
$ ff-backup-session-recovery.sh

Reboot
# session is fscked up again, kill firefox

Restore session from backup
$ ff-backup-session-recovery.sh list
[...]
-rw--- 1 hp lisa 1156380 29. Okt 12:08 recovery.jsonlz4.20191029-120926
[...]
$ ff-backup-session-recovery.sh restore recovery.jsonlz4.20191029-120926

Start Firefox 70 from first desktop
Distribute all FF windows to the desktop, they belong to.
Work.

The script is executed via crontab every night as well.

The FF gods seem to try everything to get rid of me as a user!

ff-backup-session-recovery.sh:
```
#!/bin/bash
#ssb=$(ls -d ~/.mozilla/firefox/*.default-esr68/sessionstore-backups)
ssb=$(find ~/.mozilla/firefox -regex '.*.default-[0-9]+')/sessionstore-backups
err() {
echo $* >&2
exit 2
}
usage() {
cat >&2 /dev/null
;;
restore)
ssr=$ssb/recovery.jsonlz4
# remove recovery.jsonlz4. from ts argument
ts=${1##recovery.jsonlz4.}
[ -n "$ts" ] || err "no timestamp specified, check with list"
[ -f "$ssr~" ] && mv "$ssr~" "$ssr~~"
[ -f "$ssr" ] && mv "$ssr" "$ssr~"
[ -f "$ssr.$ts" ] && cp -a "$ssr.$ts" "$ssr" || err "$ssr.$ts not found"
;;
*)
err "unknown command: $action"
;;
esac
exit 0
```

[Bug 684982]

2019-11-04 Thread Agashlin
Sorry for not being clear, I agree that these are both problems with
restoring the session. I think that they have separate causes and will
have separate solutions, and so they would be better tracked in separate
bug reports.

Restoring windows to the correct desktop is handled differently for
different systems. In general we are missing explicit support for it.
The current bug (bug 372650) is about getting that working properly; if
there was any work in progress it would be proposed and discussed here
or in the dependent bugs. I don't know why the behavior has changed for
you over time, but I'd guess it was a side effect of more general
session restore changes, rather than intending to fix this.

Restoring the correct tabs to the correct windows, however, is a cross-
platform mechanism that shouldn't depend on the geometry of the windows.
It should already be working consistently. Any issues there are more
likely to be broken existing code, possibly very general issues with the
database. It's possible that fixing your tab->window issue might also
return the window->desktop restore back to the correct behavior you were
seeing in 68 (and sporadically in older versions), but that still
wouldn't fix the current bug, in general.

Thanks for sticking with trying to debug your session restore issue for
all these years. I think that filing a new bug might get more attention
on it, rather than having it lumped in with this missing feature.

[Bug 1851326] [NEW] davfs2 has problems with MS IIS 7.5 WebDAV server

2019-11-04 Thread edice
Public bug reported:

davfs2 doesn't work with Microsoft's IIS 7.5 WebDAV implementation,
because davfs2 requires the extra translate:f header to be added.

This is not just for MS's implementation, other WebDAV servers apparently added
it too.
https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E19146-01/821-1828/gczya/index.html
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/openspecs/windows_protocols/ms-wdvse/501879f9-3875-4d7a-ab88-3cecab440034

The docs say that IF the client doesn't send the header, the server should send
back a URI to the resource, like a redirect, at least I think so.
But, MS's implementation doesn't. Instead it just returns a "server error 500".

This happens to me ONLY with files that have no extension.
Example: I can get "readme.txt",but I can't get a file called "config" (eg the
config file in a .git folder).

It worked on Windows 10, so I used Burp Suite to inspect the HTTPS comms
with the server and discovered the translate header. I tested with curl
and sure enough it worked with the header.

curl -H "translate: f" --insecure --proxy 127.0.0.1:8080 --user "user:pass"
https://the.host.name/folder/project.git/config
WORKED
Without the -H "translate: f", the curl call did not work.

The translate header seems to be added to just about every call to the
WebDAV server, except HEAD.

I also made an additional patch for libneon as it has its own functions for
building the requests. I don't think this affects davfs2, however for
reference, the bug report is here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/neon27/+bug/1851325

Attached is a patch that fixes up davfs2.
