[Bug 1852331] [NEW] Livepatch seems to be down on Ubuntu 18.04

2019-11-12 Thread Arianna Lozano
Public bug reported:

Livepatch seems to be down on Ubuntu 18.04. I have removed and readded
the key and tried a refresh but I am still getting a red exclamation
mark on the livepatch icon.

I have always used the command - sudo canonical-livepatch refresh before
and it has reactivated. Now, there is a long lag and I get the message
that :

After refresh:

kernel: 4.15.0-66.75-generic
fully-patched: false
version: "59.1"

Could you do a suspend, resume (which should fail), and then reboot, then
attach /var/log/kern.log to this bug please?

Please also attach results from running:

I take it back, it just happened again. Apparently it's intermittent.

I can't determine for certain whether it happens under X, because (a) as
I just noted, it's intermittent, and (b) my monitor has an entirely
different issue under X, see
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1849484 .

[Bug 1738152] Re: generic/308 for xfs in xfstests test suite will hang on i386 system

2019-11-12 Thread Connor Kuehl
Hi Sam & Sean,

I see lots of test suites that are named like this:
"ubuntu_xfstests_btrfs", "ubuntu_xfstests_xfs". I think the test suite
I should be looking for in the logs on our Jenkins server is
"ubuntu_xfstests_xfs", is that correct?

If so, I only see an i386 entry for that test suite under Bionic and it
would appear we don't even make it as far as generic/308:
http://10.246.72.4/test-
results/4.15.0-68.77-generic/fozzie__4.15.0-68.77__2019-10-30_17-14-00/ubuntu_xfstests_xfs/results/ubuntu_xfstests_xfs.xfs/debug/ubuntu_xfstests_xfs.xfs.DEBUG.html

I'll try to find a bug that describes what's shown in that log,
otherwise will create one as I think this bug is blocked until we can
progress to test case 308.

[Bug 1852183] Re: [X11] copy/paste (clipboard) is broken in Ubuntu 19.10

2019-11-12 Thread ethanay
I can only reproduce this bug in LibreOffice Calc (spreadsheet). I
cannot reproduce it in Writer or Geary.

But it is a consistent problem for me in Calc.

Here are the symptoms/process:
1. First new copy invariably fails to copy text, instead copies/stores a bitmap
image.
2. If I "cut" instead of "copy" then I have to use the "undo" function to
restore the text so I can attempt again.
3. Undoing my paste/cut operations consistently causes LibreOffice to crash.
4. Second attempt at cut/copy invariably succeeds.

I will try to grab a crash report as it seems specifically related to
this bug.

I noticed this immediately upon upgrading from 19.04 to 19.10, all with
latest stock kernel/software/updates. IE, using the standard versions in
the repositories.

The behavior from this bug has the potential to cause data loss: When
LibreOffice crashes before "undo" can restore the cut text, whatever
chunk of data that was intended to be cut gets completely discarded and
does not get recovered with the rest of the document, probably because
it was stored in a buffer somewhere separate from the actual document
data itself.

So all in all this bug converts text into image and then deletes the
data altogether.

[Bug 1848228] Re: Impossible to unlock because keyboard language doesn't switch

2019-11-12 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for your bug report. What desktop environment do you use? Can you
make a photo of the lock screen? If you use the default GNOME/Ubuntu session
then gnome-shell does the locking and not gnome-screensaver
Could you add 'journalctl -b 0' log after getting the issue?

** Changed in: gnome-screensaver (Ubuntu)
   Status: New => Incomplete

[Bug 1851725] Re: NetworkManager forgets VPN credentials

2019-11-12 Thread Mathieu Tarral via ubuntu-bugs
Hi Sebastien,

I'm not unchecking any option, there is a default selected option for
the password field which is "remember this password for this user only".

And with this option, NetworkManager doesn't remember the password.

With "remember the password for all users" option, NetworkManager works
fine, but that's not what I want.

(I hope the issue is more clear now)

[Bug 1851407] Re: NetworkManager 1.10.6-2ubuntu1.2 breaks VPN DNS

2019-11-12 Thread Joe Hohertz
1) Add an openvpn connection, which emits DHCP DNS servers, and is flagged "use
only for resources on this connection"
2) Add a negative dns_priority to the connection via CLI or editing the
connection

Prior to the change, this worked fine, you could connect, and the
indicated DNS server would become prioritised.

After the change, this no longer works, and networkmanager will not
associate a DNS server to the connection at all.

[Bug 1852141] Re: CVE-2019-0155: incomplete fix for 64-bit x86 kernels

2019-11-12 Thread Tyler Hicks
** Description changed:

  [Impact]

The initial set of Ubuntu kernel updates to address CVE-2019-0155 are
  not complete for 64-bit x86 kernels (amd64). The 32-bit x86 kernel
(i386) updates are complete. It may be possible for an attacker to
bypass the mitigations on 64-bit systems.
+
+ The following upstream patch is needed:
+
+
https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=ea0b163b13ffc52818c079adb00d55e227a6da6f

  [Test Case]

Upstream has ran the proposed fix through their regression test suite.
We don't have a reproducer for CVE-2019-0155 so the test case is simply
to ensure that desktop graphics continue to work.

  [Regression Potential]

Low, the fix is obviously correct and, AAUI, the affected code path
should only be legitimately used by the test suite.

[Bug 1845302] Re: cannot click on others opened applications while the "application not responding" dialog is opened

2019-11-12 Thread Jaromir Obr
I can confirm the fix helped.

I verified it according to the steps in this bug (bug 1845302) and also
according to the steps in bug 1850046 (its gnome-shell's part).

BTW when I run "killall -CONT firefox" (see the original description in
this issue), the app is closed. I guess it's correct behavior because in
the previous step I chosen "Quit" in the context menu of the app. If I
don't choose "Quit", "killall -CONT firefox" continues running of the
app as expected.
